Map changes
- We've moved to rp_twinharbor(pictures here https://www.catalyst-gaming.net/index.php?topic=29629.0)
- The new map has been completely redesigned from scratch by Statua. The blue and red harbors still exist, but they look nothing like they used to. The islands have been redesigned and the Oil Rig has been replaced with an abandoned aircraft carrier. Airstrips have been added to all four zones to make planes usable.
- As a result of the map change, we're no longer using the 'realistic' day/night script. This means no dynamic props, which means higher framerates. We will still have a day/night cycle, but it won't be as realistic as the old system. This is hard to explain in text, so you'll have to see it yourself.

New workshop download: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=400101522

New vehicles
- Cessna airplane. $350,000

Price changes
- Reduced SC-1 to $20,000 to make things easier on new players
- Reduced Fishing Boat to $80,000 to make things easier on new players

Weapon changes
- Nerfed the Double Barrel shotgun - still does good damage, but reduced the range and increased the spread. May need some more nerfs, we'll see.
- Fixed the Winchester 1897 not using the correct ammo type.
- Added the Winchester 97

Misc changes
- Adjusted serverside rates - this should result in substantially better latency under peak hours.
- Ping will now show as numbers instead of bars on the scoreboard
- Fixed an issue where players couldn't be banned via the administration menu
- Whitelisted all of the props in the whitelist request thread.

Huge thanks to Statua for doing such an incredible job on the new map and to RTLK/Karma/Scratchie/Dark Ember(pls stop changing your name) for all of his hard work in getting this update ready.

That's about it for this one. Report any bugs here.

Suggestions / Donator Benefits
« on: March 11, 2014, 11:54:56 PM »
What would you guys like to see as far as donation benefits go? I'm looking for ideas that won't have a huge, if at all impact on gameplay. Stuff like physgun colors, c flags, r flags, etc.

News and Announcements / Catalyst Gaming Half Life Two Roleplay
« on: February 26, 2014, 11:17:07 PM »

As most of you know, we've been working on reviving our Half Life Two Roleplay server. After tons and tons of delays we've finally got it to a point where we are able to release it. While not everything is 100% complete - it is playable and there are no gamebreaking issues(that we're aware of)

This will be a completely new start. This means you will not have your characters, items, etc from before - you won't be allowed to remake them, either. Gold Member and VIP will of course apply on the server.

As I'm sure anyone who played before knows, there was tons and tons of drama. Of course it's inevitable, especially on a roleplay server, but before certain people hogs got away with consistently starting problems. This time around, we're going to have a zero tolerance policy on things like this and anyone who consistently causes problems will be permanently banned. This was one of the issues we had before and a major factor in the server shutting down to begin with.

Administration will be separate from Harbor Roleplay - these gamemodes are very, very different and so as a result administrating them is very different. Metropolice Force Applications will open either the day before launch or the day of, so keep an eye out. Metropolice Force high command has already been chosen, and the roster should be up shortly in the MPF section. The only position still available is Civil Workers Union leader - feel free to PM me if you are interested.

The server will launch on Saturday, March 1st at 12 PM(noon) pacific standard time.
We will be running City 18, which will download off the server should you not already have it. IP can be found in the status bar, and I hope to see all of you guys on!

In other news, credits are 20% off in celebration of the HL2RP launch. This sale starts now and will end next weekend most likely. Take advantage!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have - if they're good, I'll put them in the OP. Sorry for any errors, or the lack of information in general. Been up for 30+ hours now and need to get some sleep.

News and Announcements / Server issues
« on: September 24, 2012, 03:55:47 AM »
So. Today, the box was being really slow, I decided to reboot it as it was up for 180~ days. I'm greeted by it refusing to boot to windows. I open a ticket, HDD is dead. Not sure how long this downtime will be/what will be lost but I'll keep you all updated. Money, cars, etc(all servers) will all be saved without a question as they're hosted separately.

Fortwars Release
Click the image below to join!
On Friday, July 27th at 1 PM pacific standard time we will be opening our fortwars server. Some of you will remember this gamemode from almost a year ago when we hosted it, some will have played it at other communities. For those of you that don't know, fortwars is a CTF DM gamemode where you build your own forts out of destructible props, and depending on the map there are anywhere from 2 to 4 teams. You fight over a ball which needs to be held for 5 minutes by one team in order to win. There are plenty of classes with different abilities and weapons which all have their own uses. There are classes more geared towards getting the ball, ones based around defending it, ones meant to destroy props, etc. While any class can do these kind of things, certain ones are more specialized. Money is gained by holding the ball, destroying props, killing players, and winning rounds. I'd go more in to detail but the gamemode isn't really all that complicated - you'll have more fun learning by yourself. The IP will be 64.31.14.194:27048 and it'll be added to the status bar ASAP. We're not sure how good the gamemode runs as of now as we haven't done any large scale testing, so we'll be starting with 40 slots, and we will adjust it accordingly after launch. Hope to see you all on at launch!

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / stop fucking sweeping s6 constantly
« on: December 23, 2011, 06:47:37 AM »
Unless you've got a really, really good reason, it needs to stop. I've heard that it is happening daily which is completely unneeded. Just because a anticitizen is in S6 doesn't mean you need to go in there and ruin all the RP occurring there.

News and Announcements / Malware warning
« on: November 25, 2011, 07:34:42 PM »
We're aware of the issue certain people may have on certain browsers regarding a 'malware warning' every time the site is loaded. We believe the issue is caused by our host, however, we have contacted both them and Google regarding the issue. I can guarantee the site is 100% safe and the issue should be resolved soon. Sorry for any issues caused by this.

News and Announcements / CG's birthday
« on: November 01, 2011, 09:36:49 PM »
Today(nov second, posted this a little early) marks the one year anniversary of CG. I registered the domain exactly a year ago and never had intended for it to become a big community. We originally hosted DarkRP on harbor2ocean(we had been using a friends box for the first few months actually, Derks to be specific) and called it harbor roleplay, never having expected it to turn in to something. Tomasas came along around Decemeber, and worked on HRP for a few weeks(helishop, intro, etc came around this time) before our first HL2RP went up.

Our first HL2RP was running blueprint(or so I remember, might have been nexus but regardless they're all pretty much the same) and admittedly was a huge failure, mainly owing to the attacks we got within the first few days. We actually managed to fill it up on the first day which suprised me quite a bit considering the community was maybe 20-30 registered people(not all of them active). After a week or so of being attacked we gave up, and took half life two roleplay down for good. CG went in to a relatively dormant state and I and a few others went back to orange cosmos, up until Febuary when we relaunched harbor roleplay.

The harbor roleplay relaunch included a lot of the features which make it what it is today - the inventory, smuggling, actual buyable boats, our own map(which was really terrible(link for nogstalgia) and we eventually went to a edit of harbor2ocean which we're on now), our own GUI(which has changed multiple times since then), and probably a lot more which I don't recall at the moment. Harbor roleplay was sucessful, mainly owing to OC dying and most members from OC coming to CG. We had been pulling in sufficent donations by this time to get our own box(which we did, was around 150$ a month at the time) and all spare money was saved for whatever the future brought.

HL2RP was revived around april or may, and was much better off this time. We had better organization, better administration, and a much, much stronger playerbase. We did get attacked quite often still - but it wasn't as much a problem as players always came back regardless of how much downtime we had.

People missed OCRP after the death of OC. Being pressured in to it, I asked jake/darth if they would give me OCRP for 500$, and sure enough they did. I actually didn't expect to get it, and as you could imagine, was quite happy as well as many others when I did. As soon as I had the gamemode I put it on a server expecting things to be broken, and suprisingly we didn't run in to too many issues. We announced we had the gamemode the next day(as we kept it private until we had it all running) and put it up the next weekend if I recall. All 50 slots filled up in under a  minute and throughout the weekend we didn't run in to  many issues, minus the lag which we solved for the most part by reducing the slots to 40.

Come the next week, we had been getting attacked daily. Most of the attacks had been relatively weak - however, our host had been nullrouting us to prevent us from using up bandwith. Nullroutes caused problems as the host at the time would keep us down for days over a minute or two long attack, when we really would have been up a lot more if they hadn't done it. Regardless, we went on and eventually switched to a different host which brought even more issues, however, not with attacks.

Raiden (now known as Prox) had been causing a lot of drama, which seems to be the case with anyone having a lot of power in the community. Even though he really didn't do anything wrong, I was pressured in to demoting him. I do regret it to this day and learned from that mistake. People tend to hate people in power regardless if they do good or bad, and Raiden wasn't a exception.

Come the next day, OCRP was being sold on a undisclosed forum. As far as I was told raiden gave it to kazuo and kazuo tried selling it, however, I never really was clear on that part and don't really care as anyone in the position raiden was in would have done the same exact thing. As a result, the gamemode was released mainly to stop anyone from profiting off it.

Weeks later, exploits started popping up. I was aware of these since OC but never made a big deal out of it as I didn't think people would find them. We had just been banning anyone who exploited for quite some time(was easy to catch considering the people who did it apparently didn't think having 30 million dollars would be suspicous) but they did all eventually get patched.

GMR went up around this time as well, we had been using a version I got from kazuo before the whole OCRP incident. GMR went well for a few weeks before everyone maxed out their cars and it eventually died out.

More happened which I don't care to explain and I'm sure no one is going to bother reading this entire post anyway.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you for staying here, and I'd like to thank a few people individually who without, CG wouldn't be here(or at least wouldn't be nearly as successful.)
- Tomasas(deserves the most credit out of anyone here, without him CG literally would have never gone anywhere)
- Raiden(always been a great friend, always helped with CG and ran HL2RP for the most part)
- Somone77(he does a lot of work which people don't seem to notice, the status bar, server management page, and upcoming credits system for example.)
- RTLK(always been a great help and without him I'm sure CG wouldn't be here or at least would be a lot more of a clusterfuck as he manages things when I don't have time(i don't have much time to be on anymore))
- Craphead(constant updating of OCRP and it probably would be dead by now if it wasn't for him)
- Vizion(did most of the forum work in the beginning and all of the logos)
I've probably forgot a lot of people and I do apologize if I did, if you think you should be on here message me over steam and I'll get it done.

OCRP 1.5 and multiple other things will be released later today/tommorow. Once again, thank you for being here.
Oh, and as for a celebration, VIP will be a 6$ donation instead of 15$ for today.

News and Announcements / OCRP map change
« on: August 18, 2011, 06:15:20 PM »
OCRP has been changed back to v2d for the time being due to the lack of players. I realize most of you hate the map, but we're peaking at 15 players which is a bad thing.
