SMD I rape your mind with math
« on: November 01, 2012, 11:05:58 PM »
Here is how you rape loli girls with math

Let's assume a=x

Therefore, a+a = x + a (Add a to both sides)

2a = a + x (Simplify)

2a - 2x = a + x - 2x (Subtract 2x from both sides)

2a - 2x = a - x (Simplify)

2(a-x) = a - x (Simplify)

2(a-x) = 1(a-x) (Simplify)

2 = 1

I apologize for my stupidity, but where exactly did you get the 2x from?  You can only subtract something from both sides if one side has that value and is cancelled out.  For example:

2x+1=0
     -1 -1
    2x=-1

You cannot pull a value out of thin air and subtract both sides by it.

Exactly what hazard said. Even if a and x are the same value, you cant take a from one side and x from the other.
If you take a from one side, you have to take a from the other side. Therefore reflex, DO YOUR DAMN HOMEWORK. :)

2a - 2x = a + x - 2x (Subtract 2x from both sides)

2a - 2x = a - x (Simplify)
lulz (Simplify) and hope nobody understands maths.

I fail to see what is wrong with this

Let's assume x = 1 = a (because x = a)
2a = a + x              This simplifies to 2=2 if we insert the 1
2a - 2x = a + x -2x         This simplifies to 0=0 if we insert the 1, making it still a true equation
2a - 2x = a -x                 This simplifies to 0=0 if we insert the 1, making it STILL a true equation
2(a-x) = 1(a-x)          (He factored the common multiples) This simplifies to 0=0 if we insert the 1, STILL A TRUE EQUATION
2=1       (He divided out the (a-x)) This is just WTF

Therefore, it is still a true process of simplifying, and I commend thee on finding out this odd formula..

We learned this in Geometry.

This isn't possible because you can't divide by zero. Since a=x, when you divide by (a-x), you're dividing by zero.

Welp, case closed. Y'know, we should open up an educational subforum for people who haven't snorted enough OCRPowder today.

You already went in the wrong in the first line.
You assume that a + x = 2. But no, you cant add apples to pears and suddenly have 2 apples. a + x is still 1a + 1x. Not 2<nothing>

But if a = x, and x = 1, then a = 1, rite? So a + x would be the same as 1 + 1, which is 2

Actually, you're wrong. Sorry. Since a=x, 2a= a+x is true because (a+x) is really (a+a).

Like I said, the only thing wrong here (and what makes this false) is that he divides by zero. Most people learn this equation in high school.
