In Character / Amber Hailcolt's Character Sheet« on: March 10, 2014, 09:45:23 PM »
Character Name: Amber Lily Hailcolt
Age: 31 (Birthday: February 23rd, 1988) Fatal Flaw/Defect: CID: 33421 Physical Description: A relatively older female of above average height, around six feet or so. She has dark brown hair, which she usually wears in a ponytail. Her eyes are a dark green tone, and she wears a pair of glasses (which she sees fine without). She holds a pride-filled stance a vast majority of the time, and speaks with a heavy, authoritative tone. Clothing Description: Amber wears a special, Worker's Union suit designed for the Director of Personnel, While not nearly as formal as that of a Civil Administrator, it clearly distinguishes her from other workers. The suit is composed of a light brown overcoat, and a pair of somewhat worn, brown khakis of a similar color. Mental State: Amber is a very pride-filled individual, and it is reflected highly in her attitude. She sees herself as highly intelligent, and above some other members of society. She also strongly agrees with the ideology of the Union's dominance, and sees no issue in their authoritative regime. As such, she is very content, even going so far as happy, with the state of the world around her. Physical State: Amber is in a fairly normal physical state compared to other citizens of the Union. She is slightly more nourished, due to her time with the Worker's Union. It isn't very noticeable, though. If she were not wearing her CWU outfit, she would appear to be just another citizen. Background: Spoiler for Background: Strengths - Skills/Traits: Intelligent, logical thinker, strong leader, authoritative, loyal Weaknesses: pride-filled, demeaning Accent: American - Texan Mannerisms: Amber is generally very attentive to her surroundings, and her mannerisms are such that she tries to act as the center of whatever is going on around her. She talks very assertively, and her general body language accompanies that. 5

Civil Workers Union / CWU Applications« on: March 10, 2014, 09:13:56 PM »
**This is a temporary thread for applications. An official thread with an individual board will be setup for applications down the road. In the meantime, post your applications in this thread, obviously following the format with all the correct information.**
The following information is in regards to applying for the Civil Worker's Union. As with all other applications for the server, the following requirements are in place: *A minimum post count of 10. *A time requirement of one week with the community and the HL2RP server. Currently, applications will have an out-of-character portion (done through the forums), and an in-character portion, which will be done through an interview ingame. Be sure that you meet the above requirements BEFORE applying to the Civil Worker's Union, as not meeting them will more than likely result in a denial of your application. Please, do not half-ass your application, either. I don't want to have to read something that you spent five minutes throwing together for the heck of it. If you're wanting to be trusted with a worker, you need to show me that you can at least put some effort into the written portion of the application. It shouldn't be to difficult. I expect that any paragraphs you write are at least three sentences or more, and that you'll use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation on top of that. The following is the application format for the Civil Worker's Union. Please copy the code, and paste it into a reply to this thread. Please be sure to read over the application in its entirety before filling it out, in order to ensure you fill it out correctly, and completely. Your application will be reviewed following its completion, and you will be notified view a reply to the post, or with an edit, on whether or not you've been accepted for an interview in-character. Overwatch Transhuman Arm / [ACCEPTED] Lone Wanderer's Returning Application« on: March 09, 2014, 04:38:54 AM »
<::| FORMAT: Returning Applicant |::>[/center]
This section is essential to the success of your application. You must be able to provide evidence (screenshots are the best way) which shows that you had an OTA unit in the past at Catalyst Gaming: Evidence: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=97815558 -lol why that has to be the picture I used 1. Steam Name: Lone Wanderer 2. Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:23860145 3. Are you listed here? If yes, what unit are you? Listed as UU.OTA.VANGUARD09199. 4. What country and time zone are you located in (please use a GMT- or GMT+ modifier)? United States, GMT -8 5. Have you been removed from the Overwatch or the MPF for being inactive? I gave up my unit for inactivity, once, but then got her back shortly after, if that counts. 6. Do you understand that by being accepted into the Overwatch faction, you are bound to the OOC standards? Yes. ASSESSMENT #1 - IC situation: You have just been tasked with escorting a VIP (in this case, a Civil Administrator) from the Nexus to the center of the plaza for a speech. It is expected that an attempt will be made on the VIP's life today at an unknown time. A citizen begins to follow your escort group. You suspect that they belong to a rebel group who intend to kill the VIP. How do you approach the situation? Be creative. **Assuming the role of Soldier #1** A squad of four Overwatch units are tasked with escorting and protecting a civil administrator giving a speech to a crowd of loyalists in the nearby plaza. They are to set out from the Nexus with the administrator at promptly 16:00 hours. They are then to arrive at a nearby walkway to the plaza at 16:10, where they will meet two units, who will assist in the escort and provide information regarding the current situation. Following that, they will escort the administrator to the podium, and create a blocking around his person. At 16:20, the administrator is to be escorted back to the walkway, and then at 16:30, he is expected to be within the Nexus. There is a minute long grace period between each time frame. The squad has also been informed of a potential attempt on the CA's life, and is prepared for an emergency escape route near the walkway. Two Overwatch units, one a standard soldier (#3), and one an elite unit, file out from the Nexus doorway. Behind them, a Civil Administrator follows suit. After he steps through the doorway, two other standard soldiers (#'s 1&2) fall out behind him. The group regathers, and the elite unit makes a report over the radio, "Escort leaving Nexus entryway Bravo, 16:00 hours and thirteen seconds. Proceeding with objective". As he finishes speaking, he gives a firm nod to the soldier in front of him (#3). The unit begins moving forward, with the elite following suit. The administrator holds back a few feet, with soldier #2 walking close by him. Unit #1 holds back a few feet, following the group from the rear. As the group proceeds to the walkway, unit #1 occasionally spins about, to get a view of the area behind them. He notices a citizen in a oddly fresh uniform has been following their squad for the past three minutes. As he spins about to continue walking, he speaks over the radio, "Suspicious individual has been trailing escort for approximately three minutes; possible threat detected". The squad continues to move along their path, unit #1 keeping a close watch on the citizen. As they near the walkway, though, the citizen drops out of sight, causing unit #1 to acknowledge the change over the radio once more, "Individual has relocated to a side alleyway. Possible relocation to vantage point in process..." As the squad comes up to the bridge, they meet no CCA escort. The elite unit's lenses flicker slightly as he begins speaking over his radio, "Escort has arrived at walkway at 16:11 hours and thirty six seconds. Civil Authority escort is absent, and scene is suspicious. Possible attempt on the administrator's life in progress". As he finishes speaking over the radio, unit #3 makes a comment, saying, "Recent blood splatter along the edge of the walkway, advise?" The elite unit takes a few steps to get a better view of the blood stain, "Blood stain is indeed recent. Squad, form a defensive ring around the administrator, and prepare weapons. Engage any hostile targets; shoot to kill". The soldiers acknowledge the order immediately, and quickly move to form a ring shape around the administrator. Unit #1 raises his weapon, his visors flickering as he adjusts to the lighting. He slowly pans around his field of view, attempting to spot any possible threats. "Recommending emergency evacuation protocol to prevent possible sociocide attempt" unit #2 states, also panning around the nearby buildings. As he speaks, a bullet soars past unit #1's head, slamming into the cobblestone. His eyes jerk to the left, the direction of the bullet. "Round fired at the administrator; relocate to the south end of the walkway, and resume emergency protocol Helix" the elite unit shouts, looking up to a nearby rooftop. Unit #1 keeps his gaze trained at the area the round came from as he shifts down the walkway, covering the administrator with his body. As he does so, another round is fired, this time, striking him in the left shoulder. The round doesn't manage to pierce any farther than the uniform itself, lodging into the Kevlar vest. He snaps his pulse rifle at the window the round was shot from, pressing down the trigger to send a volley of rounds the man's way. As it does so, he hears a quick scream, and a thud. The squad quickly shuffles the administrator to the end of the walkway, and then proceeds to quickly usher him back to the Nexus (phew, that was pretty long lol. If you'd like me to finish it a bit more, I can do that for sure. But I don't wanna make you read more than you have to ) ASSESSMENT #2 - OOC situation: The following scenario has taken place: a player who is in command of a criminal character in possession of hidden contraband was in the process of being handcuffed before they suddenly ran away without any valid RP. A member of the administration team locates and brings the offending player back to where they started. The player does not seem to understand the rules of the server. They are frozen in place while the administrator is sent to deal with an urgent matter. Before the administrator leaves, you are asked to explain to the player about what they did wrong. How do you proceed? Well, I'd first explain to him that he can't just run away like he/she did. If he doesn't seem to understand the basic ideas of roleplay, well, that'd be a little bit bigger of an issue, which would take a bit more explaining, obviously). But if he seems to get the general jist of roleplay, I'd take the time to then ask him if he/she knew what powergaming was. If they said yes, then I'd tell them that it's against the rules at CG, and direct them to the rules page so they can get an understanding for that. I'd help them with any questions they had at that point, directing them to an admin if needed. If they didn't get powergaming, I'd explain them the basics of it, and then relate it to how it applied to their situation (which was just running off without realistically reacting to being handcuffed). If they were just really bad, though, and didn't want to follow rules, I'd EDIT: forgot to put in the link to my screenshot evidence; oops 9
General Discussion / Re: Post Your Armory!« on: March 08, 2014, 03:15:27 AM »
I'll be posting my little collection soon (it includes a sword as well whoa), but I'm pretty busy of late so it'll probably get put off until tomorrow or Sunday for me.
But yeah, that's a pretty nice selection you two both have (you two as in Recon and Hazard). I'd really like to get my hands on a Mosin; I've been able to get a hold of an M1 Garand, a m1903 Springfield (believe thats the correct model) , and a Lee-Enfield, just want to get my hands on that damn Mosin. Also, the AK looks pretty neato as well. 10
Table Talk / Re: Ukrainian Conflict« on: March 08, 2014, 03:05:14 AM »I do have to agree that I still think Russia actually deploying troops in Crimea before it has seceded is rather unsettling, but doesn't surprise me considering how they reacted to Abkhazia and South Ossetia declaring independence. Yeah. But I do feel a bit hypocritical pointing fingers at Russia for it; I mean, we in the U.S. did that on a few occasions (Panama, Granada, Iraq/Afghanistan). Given the circumstances were different in those cases, but its not as if we haven't invaded countries without 100% precedent. But eh, it's Russia right? Nobody likes them, so that makes it not okay! Right? 11

Table Talk / Re: Ukrainian Conflict« on: March 08, 2014, 02:58:24 AM »I still think that Russia has no business moving more military groups into Crimea. That's a Ukrainian issue, and the region is a part of the Ukraine. Obviously, if those people were all Russian citizens (which they aren't, they're just ethnically Russians), and they were being threatened, then I'd see that being okay. But regardless of that, Ukraine isn't threatening the security of the Crimean people in anyway; in fact, I'd argue that Russia's actions are placing them in more danger than Ukraine's pro-European uprising did. Oh no, yeah, I don't doubt that the Crimean region is very pro-Russian, and I've also been keeping up on how they've been protesting and resisting the pro-European government that Ukraine now has. But if the United States and NATO are expected to stay out of this issue, Russia should NOT be involved. I can't say I have a solid stance on the issue as a whole, but I'd say I'm more in the boat that the Ukrainians should be allowed to play this out among themselves. I've got a close friend that grew up just outside Kerson (I think that's how it's spelled?), which is pretty close to Crimea. She's ethnic Russian, but supports the government in Kiev. I guess overall, I really think world powers should stay out of this one. If Crimea really wants to separate, let them deal with Kiev over it. I don't agree that Russia needs to come in and fight the Ukrainian military, because at this rate, that's what I believe is going to happen. 13

But yes, I'd agree that NATO isn't going to stand idle should Russia declare war on Ukraine (which they technically already have done by moving troops onto Ukrainian soil). Russia did almost exactly the same thing in Georgia back in 2008, and that wasn't connected with Europe at all. Ukraine, however, is a much more local issue, and I highly doubt that NATO/the EU are going to sit back and pick daisies while Russia plays around in the sandbox that is Crimea. Sanctions are a start, but honestly, if WWIII were to happen, this could be a very legitimate place that it could start. 14

Don't think it works for GMOD anymore. Used to have it, and then it stopped working. A couple of friends of mine said that Garry had pit in an update that prevented it from working. That or my HLDJ just stopped working.

Civil Workers Union / Re: What exactly is the Civil Workers Union?« on: March 07, 2014, 09:48:06 AM »
It goes quite a bit further than just "citizens with jobs" lol. That outlook is why the CWU didn't really succeed or grow before. It's supposed to be a much bigger element in terms of a citizen's life, acting more as a bureaucratic entity for the Union over its policing counterpart. It'll be much more than 'just jobs' this time around, I can tell you that.
