OCRP2 Pre-Update News

Well, the poll has outstanding results. Almost 90% of the vote is to switch. So, we are switching.

A few important notes:
- GET THE TDM WORKSHOP PACK OR SVN! SVN link at the bottom of the page, and the SVN is recommended. There is a guide to TortiseSVN in the OCRP guide section.
- We are also going to utilize SentryGunMan's cars. I have compiled them into a collection for easier downloading. Link at the bottom
- There are also a few surprises in store for the update.

Also, get the following pack: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=105022919 From this pack are a few things that are going to be made into items. While I think the map has the items needed, just get the pack just in case.

FAQ: (aka the "if its in here and you ask again you're getting a forum ban" section)
Will my cars be refunded?
Yes.

Will my upgrades be refunded?
No. But why? I'm not making a system to refund maybe 80k per car that would take me more time than needed to do when I could be working on other shit. Plus you don't need that refunded.

What is this "car credit"?
Car credit is the refund method of the cars. You can only use it on cars, and it is in addition to your bank. It will display at the car dealer when buying a car. It can only be used to buy a car, not rent or upgrade.

Is X car being added?
Probably. But if you continue to ask, I may just happen to forget about it.

When will it come out?
Fuck if I know. By my calculations I have around 40 more hours of work to put into the cars to make them perfect, and most of that is seat positions. Thats in addition to the probably equal amount of time put into it already. And this last part only I can do, no one can really help due to how it works.

There isnt a workshop for TDM Cars.  However, I suppose one could be made in the future.

Found it. I'll compile a collection tonight when I get home or on a break at school.

No need to download each individual pack. Here is the Workshop for ALL of the cars: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=112607905
Here's the FP thread: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1184807

The FAQ didn't exactly explain this, but are current TDM cars in OCRP2 going to stay as ours or will they be refunded too? Is the BMW 507's passenger seat fixed here, too?

I'm pretty sure that current TDM cars will not be refunded and will rain yours.

"Can we have the money back we spent on upgrades since we put in effort and time to afford them?"
"No, I'm too lazy to code the system"

Oh ok, thanks.

My evo cost 525k, the upgrades cost 153k. That's an extra 30% that I'm losing because you are too lazy. I don't know lua, but I do understand scripting and languages. Unless lua is drastically different, all you'd need is to loop over players, loop over their cars, then take 5 minutes to write out 10 or so if statements checking for the upgrade on the car and refunding money if it's there. Or, depending on capabilities and how it's designed, you could just loop over the upgrades on the car, check the price of that upgrade, and refund it.

Then don't play OCRP then...  Deal with it, it is not happening.  Sorry, but thats life bro.

Having a "deal with it" attitude is most certainly NOT life. If you don't question things that make no sense, you will go nowhere.

I'm asking for a real reason as to why we can't have it.

Because it would use too much unneeded code that would take too long to code for one time use. Its not happening. No amount of whining will change it.

Thats not how you live life, it's just at times when you feel something is wrong, you cannot do anything about it.  Like Karma said, Deal with it.  Aslo, I really hope that he is adding the Camaro 69.

Take too long to code? Show me the car snippets of OCRP and some basic lua syntax and I'll do it in 30 minutes. As I said in my first post, depending on the design of OCRP, it's just a series of loops and if's. You're just being incredibly lazy, since you know it doesn't cost YOU anything. Why script for a community if you don't have the community's best interests in mind?

I'm not saying I can't do it. I'm saying I won't. So you lose 100k. Who cares? Its a fucking game. It was discussed and debated. Just like a skin, upgrades are considered unique to the car and won't be refunded.

If you don't understand.... he is putting a lot into this, replacing all the car scripts with new ones.  Be lucky you are getting that.

If i was in Karma's position i wouldn't do it. I code lua myself and its a waste of time to go check all this stuff and spend so much time on it just for like 100k that you can grow in like 2 hours.

Explain the last 11 updates, then?

So uh... if we can get past the refund-butt-mad, I had a question. Will we be able to use the other body parts that come with most TDM/SGM cars (The ones where you need body-group changer)? Will we also be using some of the skins floating around on the workshop?

Or the fact I've spent at least 24 hours already on the cars update and will be doing at least another 24 on it if not more.

Would be cool if they added upgrades system that you buy the parts.

That's exactly what me and cousin were thinking, Like you could buy full exhaust and it would increase your speed buy like 5mph, Some could increase top speed or acceleration or both. You could buy a turbo or supercharger and it could add the respective sound.

Won't happen but it would be the best update ever.

No, I meant how you can change things like the bumpers, spoilers, skirts etc. with the body group changer on the TDM/SGM cars.

Yes, making it to where you can buy them and it changes the way it looks and the way it handles

But to my knowledge, changing body parts only changes the look of the car, not how it handles or performs. You're only changing the outside.

Actually... If you take a look at it, and IF each bodygroup has its own modelpath, it MIGHT be a lot simpler that everyone says.  It would be a nice addition, but not one I would expect for a bit, cause there are a LOT more important things to deal with.
