Maybe we can start fresh with a standalone HRP rather then a DarkRP based one.

however to do this now, if we cant backup original HRP, would require us to have a developer who can do this and is willing to do it too.

I know lua but not enough in practice to create an entire game mode.  If someone wants to start the project I would greatly help out.  I want a programming project to work on.

Overall, I don't know the specifics of the situation but I think that there could have been a better way of handling this.  THOMASAS was very childish in ripping out all of HRP and leaving the whole community hanging.  In the US all work is considered copyrighted however; sometime along the line (I cannot say for sure because again I do not know what happened with the code.) the game mode may have had ownership transferred or it may not have.  We will never know unless we know the specifics of the situation.  Given that THOMASAS was paid to do the programming and put it on catalyst gaming's servers it is highly possible that copywright ownership may have changed.  (INAL so if you want the most accurate answer ask one.)

FOR THE CATALYST-GAMING STAFF: TAKE AN IMAGE OF THE SERVER DRIVE NOW so that you have an image of the disk before you overwrite any "lost" data on the disk from when HRP was removed.  Try to write as little new data to the server as the files may be recoverable by computer forensics.  When something is deleted from a computer it is not "deleted" the data is removed from the computers index so to the computer the files are gone however it is possible that they could be recovered if they "lost" data is not overwritten by new data.

I would HIGHLY recommend either getting someone familiar with computer forensics or do it yourself with software.

THOMASAS there was a better way to go about this.... I did not want to see this after working today......

Just because you 'pay' for the development doesn't give you copyright ownership.
If a work is made for hire, the employer or other person
for whom the work was prepared is the initial owner of the
copyright unless both parties involved have signed a written
agreement to the contrary.
It wasn't a contract job/hire, nor was I employed at CG. Rofl is under 18 even, so that's not even possible.
This doesn't apply at all. Not to mention all the money that he owes.

THOMASAS you incorrectly read the quote.  What it is saying is that because you were being paid by catalyst-gaming.net to make the game-mode that catalyst-gaming.net is the owner of the game-mode unless you had a contract that said that the game-mode was yours. which according to you, you don't.  So therefore you stole the game-mode which rightfully under US copywrite law belongs to Catalyst-gaming.net

Mapping / Re: RP_Rockford Progress

This looks amazing and I can't wait to see it with the actual lighting scheme instead of the Dev lighting.  I like how this map is unique and has a different more modern type feel to it than evocity.  Gread job as usual statua!

Wow this looks amazing...  I cannot wait to play on this it looks way better than evocity.  It will be nice to have something new to play on.  I think that this is something that will help ocrp and give it a unique feel from other RP servers.

Great work statua!

It worked for me.

Also, the radio won't work for me now.  I get like a ocrp_radio lua erorr or something in console when I try to press f1 in my car.

Garry has broken bass module. He's working on it.

Does this mean that gov voice radio doesn't work either.

Suggestions / Re: Joining Quiz
« on: June 07, 2013, 02:52:26 PM »
Honestly the only way to prevent fail cops is to have a whitelist for cops. No blacklist, a white which you need to apply for on the forums.

A quiz is useless, anyone can quickly look up the rules and get in.

So I'm in favor of a white list for cops and when you apply you say your name, ID and whatnot and I say why you should be on it.

You would be surprised at how many minges the HRP quiz stopped from becoming CG.

Suggestions / Re: Joining Quiz
« on: June 07, 2013, 02:26:15 AM »
When people wanted one for HRP, what we did was ask the community to put a list of questions they would like to see in the quiz.  Khub selected the best ones and added them.  While I am not a dev and can't say whether or not the OCRP devs are planning on adding a joining quiz (But I am sure they would love one), I would suggest putting down some questions you would like to see in the quiz.
Make a timer, like so many hours played and you are allowed to play.. :/

The idea of a game time requirement to play jobs in OCRP2 was shot down a long time ago...

Accepted Suggestions / Re: Few things for FireFighters
« on: June 03, 2013, 03:39:53 PM »
Well, in that case wake I'll say add it too.
Also, make it have a ram or something, plus make it fire proof, so you can push things away from the fire or out of the fire.

Idk bout that... but... Tow trucks can't tow Fire trucks, but ut a hook on this and give it the ability to tow a truck would... be something.... actually... eh. Karmas call.
Not like that...  I mean to push things out of a fire... you would not be able to tow...
No need to push something out when the Fire comes first. Recovery comes after the fire is out and the area is safe.

yea try explaining that to tow truck drivers.. I was cop and a tow truck driver threatened to file a BR on me because I wouldn't let him tow a car that was on fire.  He wouldn't listen so I said go ahead if you really wan to... So his car caught on fire.  I called in fire department and said told you so.

Bug Reports / Re: Ford Victoria entrance problem
« on: June 01, 2013, 06:42:40 PM »
I have noticed that if the car is not flat on the ground (ie. Partly on top of a curb hill or sidewalk) it is nearly impossible to get in unless you push it onto a flat surface (ie. Road).  Also at any speed above 45-50 mph the crown Vic becomes unstable and spins out at the slightest adjustment.  Also the turning is way to difficult at any speed above maybe 10 mph which makes car chases very difficult.

Guides / Re: [OCRP2 How-To] Issue a Tow Order and repair a car
« on: May 26, 2013, 03:05:01 PM »
What if you issue a tow order and the person logs off or re spawns the car?  does the order automatically cancel? if it doesn't it will cause problems.

Suggestions / Re: Crashed cars.
« on: May 19, 2013, 03:52:52 PM »
If this was implemented then there'd have to be a feature to put your seatbelt on, otherwise people will complain each time they go flying from their car and/or get killed
Have you seen someone survive a car crash going about 130 to 150 miles per hour, I mean like into a wall?  I am going to say no, reason be, the gforce that is pulled would snap your neck on impact killing you instantly.  Yes, it would be cool for seat belts though.  As for the 25 MPH thing, just raise that to something higher.

A lot of the time depending on the strength of the wall the car just goes through it.
