This is a serious thread I need to help make decisions. I dont want to come back if the administration team doesnt want to see me or the community doesnt want me to have the position. I'm doing this for you, not myself.

I think he explained why he made the thread. It looks like he wants to know how you guys feel about having him as an admin, actually he says it. It looks to me like he made this thread asking for our opinions for the good of the entire community. If we don't want him as an admin and we explain why then he'll understand and hopefully try to better himself. If I were in his position I would probably have done the same thing in any community, cause as an admin it's about the community not about the individual.

I voted yes. I've mainly only seen your posts but forum posts can say a lot about a person. You've made a bunch of great guides and you're very helpful all across the forums. Yes, I do play HL2RP aswell.

Have you tried: "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" or defragmenting cache files, etc? You could also try this Data Exception Prevention thing: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7169-TIAV-5361

Just scroll down a bit and you'll find it.

I am going to give my opinion. The CCA is not easy to run.. Being SeC is not any easy job. We cant magically make the CCA a fucking miracle work in one week.. This takes a long time in order to get the processes running smoothly. SURE we have units that are idiots sometimes.. But hell most of them improve, if not they get their head blown off. We have our problems and so do other community's. We strive everyday to make the CCA and city itself less mingy and better quality of RP to be used. Many units are also the type to just want promotions left and right, which I have learned that it is not really needed.. Live with what you have. The CCA teaches many players how to have good leadership skills in real life if you want interpret them from the game and into the real world. I have became more responsible with what I do in the real world from this RP than have ever been at. GRID and NOVA used to be weak and have no strength, now we have made our areas MUCH stronger and bettered the RP with individual events for each division. I am GRID DvL and I have the most funnest times with my units.. I cant just call them units because they are like a family to me.. They always offer to help and they know how to do their jobs with success. I am always proud of them and I see them improving daily. We have many units that are coming to how I feel about their coheirs. I did event today of renovation of the UCH with my team. We had the Citizens, the CWU and half of the CCA involved. WE as a team and as a group completed a complete ICly renovation to the UCH together. APEX kept sociostability outside, NOVA healed the unit that got cut, GRID did the repairs, CWU did repairs and HELL we had citizens who wanted to help! The citizens came inside and picked up paint brushes and just started to RP! I don't know about you.. BUT by George WE THE PEOPLE OF THE CCA ARE GETTING SOMEWHERE! If we keep up the efforts of RP that involve everyone at times, then we will be gold and we will make the CCA and citizen RP the best around. I want this to shine a light to you all.. The CCA is not about ranking up, It about having run and enjoying the RP. I am not saying love everyone.. BUT I am saying that we are a team and teams work and fight together.

Thank you.
That sounds like a RP experience for the books. I never seem to be on when awesome things happen.

I also agree with you. Though I have no personal experience, running the CCA is hard, that should be obvious to most people. Running damn near anything can be hard and the CCA seems like an organization that requires plenty of work to keep going. So people who whine obviously don't sympathize with or respect the people who are running the CCA because there is no doubt in my mind that the job can get stressful and Purple's post only reinforces my thoughts.

If you had been watching child porn, although im unsure of what your laws are like, you'd probably have a police team raiding your house rather than something on your computer telling you to pay a fine.

wtf its that bad?
Yeah. I mean its abuse, molestation, etc. Anyway, sounds like a virus to me, though I never heard of one like that before.

Social Discussion / Re: Mongol-Combine Comparison
« on: March 26, 2012, 07:29:32 PM »
Combine always reminds me of the Nazi Germany.

This. I was actually making links between the two the other day.
Yeah, with the mass genocide and stuff.

I do see the Mongol Empire and the Combine as fairly similar. They came and swiftly conquered a large amount of territory, just the combine did so on a much larger scale.

Noah Thompson's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: Semiorph

IC Character Name: Noah Thompson

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Noah had considered the coming of the Combine a miracle. The way he saw it, the Combine had saved Earth from the chaos of the portal storms and brought back order to the world. He had always loved order, having a strong government watching over him and making sure he lived a good life. Still, the world was always in a level of chaos, in his eyes.

The Combine offered the order Noah had craved. They united humans under one banner, stopping the senseless violence amongst countries. The Combine brought peace to the world, at least for awhile. He enjoyed life in City 45, but as time went by he began to notice the looks of disgust directed toward the Combine.

The resistance was formed and the number of anti-citizens steadily grew. Noah saw these people as a threat to the order he loved. He stayed loyal to the Combine, reporting crimes and such, but he soon realized that he had to take larger measures to deal with the threats to the order given to humanity by the Combine. He decided that he would apply to the CCA to help further maintain order and peace.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Dutiful, Logical, Loyal, Obedient

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
I have never been in the CCA before so this will be a brand new experience for me. I'm hoping that while in the CCA I can increase my role-playing skill. I have hopes of joining the GRID division as technology, IRL and for my character, is a fancy of mine. I hope to have fun role-playing with others and hopefully giving everyone I role-play with some memorable experiences.

As for my character, he hopes to quell the anti-civil behavior in City 45 as well as maintain peace, order, and civilized society. He sees the Combine as saviors who saved the world from chaos and gave order and peace to humanity after the chaos that erupted because of the portal storms. He believes that if he wants to prevent disruptions to the peace by the anti-citizens he must join the CCA.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Noah grew up in a small seaside town in California. His family was in the low-middle class, but still lived a comfortable and healthy life. Noah's father was a computer technician and taught Noah a lot about computers and how they worked. He would always work on his friends computers when they would get a virus or break in some way. The ignorance of his friends would sometimes bother him. He would also work with his dad at his shop occasionally. His family believed in order and following the rules. They also believed a strong government could provide peace and prosperity to its people.

Noah had always followed the rules and he was often bothered by those who didn't. He always thought that they were disrupting the peace by breaking even the simplest of rules. He would report almost anything he saw and was often frowned upon in school. He never acknowledged those looks, because he knew he was doing the right thing and making his parents proud. In high school he applied to become security guard's helper. He would patrol with the security guard during lunch periods and deal with rule breakers.

When he graduated from high school, he went straight to college to get a degree in computer science in hopes to get setup in a career quickly. In college he focused more on his studies rather than reporting rule violations, but he still based his life around order, which he had grown to love over the years. He kept to a strict schedule and almost never allowed for a change in that schedule.

When he graduated college he got a job as an information systems technician in a large corporation. However, not but a few years after, the portal storms occurred sending the world into utter chaos. Noah never quite adjusted to life after the populations of Earth were rallied into cities. There was no government and Noah, coming from a family that believed in a strong government, did not like this at all. He began to give up; he saw no future for himself in a world where people were cramped into cities without order.

The Seven Hour War only increased his belief that civilized life was long gone, but after the war ended and he was brought to City 45 he began to realize that the Combine had saved humanity. The Combine had brought order and the powerful government Noah had craved and it was even better than before the portal storms. Now there was one all powerful government that watched over Noah and kept order and peace.

However, there were some that looked at the Combine in a different way. A resistance was formed to free humanity from the Combine. Noah saw them as threats to the order and peace he loved and did all he could as a citizen to stop them, but it was not enough. He decided that if he wants to maintain order then he must join the Combine Civil Authority.

Well, I was on the CG HL2RP server and there was a crowd gathering in front of the Nexus, so I walked up to someone and asked what was happening. He simply shrugged and we watched as the CPs came out of the Nexus and lined up in front of us. Then they all /me'd pulling out their weapons. At that point the civilians are yelling "It's a firing squad!" and the CPs open fire killing and wounding many of us, but me and 2 others manage to escape to the Diadorna (or whatever it is called). As we hide out there one of the guys says he knows a way out and opens a secret door to the sewers. He lets us through, but stays behind to confront the officers. So, I and the other guy wander through the sewers looking for an exit. When we finally find it, we are immediately found and tied up by some CPs. They searched us and then re-educated us.

8. Do you consider yourself a good listener?
Yes

Support & Help / Re: Authorization to use the HL2RP Map?
« on: March 25, 2012, 03:41:03 PM »
You changed rather quickly from respecting their feelings on the usage of the map to the exact opposite and applying irrelevant legal terms to your argument. Rofl already stated that they would prefer you not to use the map even though they can not stop you. Stop bringing the terms of use into the argument as it is a matter of respect for the people who made the map, not a matter of "Well, the terms of use say I can so up yours."
As Statua said, it's up to you weither to use the map or not, but it isn't about it being legal or not to do so. It's about weither or not you respect the creators enough to oblige their request to not use the map. They don't want credit, what they want is for you not to use the map. Obviously, even though you say you respect them, you don't or you would understand and not blow them off and do whatever the hell you want.

Suggestions / Re: Applications
« on: March 24, 2012, 12:32:38 PM »
The way I see it, the required amount of posts rule is to make sure that person applying is active. I believe that the admins could also go back and check those previous posts to see how you act on the forums and that might help them decide whether or not to accept the app. Now, I can't be sure as I haven't been here long enough, but thats just the way that I see it or perhaps, the way I would run it.

Getting ten posts legitimately isn't that hard. Just find a thread that intrests you and give your two cents. If someone made a posing thread then go offer your support by telling them how good their poses are or giving them tips on how to improve.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Loyalist Points System
« on: March 23, 2012, 06:56:24 PM »
As far as I know, you can apply for the CCA but your records are checked to make sure you're clearly not a criminal. I'm sure something will come up soon enough to replace it, but I'm actually glad the points system is gone now. In fact, I think there should be a halt on CCA recruiting until we come up with another system. This will give UNIFORM, and everyone who has a recruit training permit a nice break from training, the time we gain from not training constantly can be used to ICly put in place and enforce a new system after its thought of, and it would allow us a get a firm grip on what we have now. What I mean by that is, get our shit back together and straighten out what we have, rather than take on more right now.
I agree with what Airborne says here. If the point system has been removed then the CCA should work to find a new system so that they aren't just building up any problems they may come along as a result of the lack of a system. This break might also give time for the CCA to organize themselves a bit it whatever ways they may need to.

The first time I joined Catalyst's HL2RP server all the Civil Protection formed up a firing squad and killed a lot of citizens that had been standing infront of the Nexus. Me and another guy made an escape through the sewers but we're caught and beaten upon leaving the sewers. That was a lot of fun. :)
