[W.I.P.] Provenio - Forum Game
« on: March 08, 2011, 11:43:44 PM »
Introduction

Provenio is a forum game of my creation that is intended to create a realistic simulation as to what leading a nation might be like in a fictional game. Economic and geographical features are complex, and you are expected to read this entire post before trying to establish a nation.

Rules

- All draft plans must be finalized by myself or an appointed member before becoming official. All draft plans are considered OOC and may not be acted upon.

- All posts must be relevant.

- No metagaming or powergaming. You may only use finalized plans in-character, if the plans were publicly released.

Post Forms

- Plans - a draft of plans you wish to make for your nation. They are considered OOC until finalized.
       - Public Released Plans - plans that will be released to other nations or the media IC.
       - Private Released Plans - plans that will be snipped by myself after finalization.

- Declarations - a draft of a declaration you with to make for you nation. They are considered OOC until finalized.
       - War Declaration - The declaration of war on another nation ( There are guidelines for this )
       - Trade Declaration - The declaration of trade with another nation ( two-way agreement )
       - Inner Relations Declaration - Media spread of national news ( within your nation )

Economics

Economics are the most difficult part of Provenio, and I've made an attempt at keeping them simple. The main aspect of economics is your GDP, or Gross Domestic Product, which is the annual income your nation receives from imports and exports. Additionally, the GDP per capita, or Gross Domestic Product per capita, is also important. These two factors will play a large part in development of your infrastructure, technology, and military. So to make it simple, a math equation will be used.

Code: [Select]
population x 2 + area = y

y = GDP

y / population = z

z = GDP per capita

This equation would be extremely inaccurate if used on real-life statistics, but since all people in Provenio will have to use this equation, it works.

Population

Population also plays a large role in the monetary system. Upon registering for Provenio, you will need to pick a fraction of a particular continent you wish to maintain ( to a realistic extent ). Each continent will have a preset population, so, to discover your population you simply figure out what <insert your fraction of the continent here> is out of the population of the continent.

Military and Technology
Your military depends on the technology you invest money in. Technology levels will have particular numbers which allow for the creation of certain kinds of military vehicles and missiles ( weapons will not be listed as that would be a long, useless list, and technology can be compared in warfare ). You can have unlimited technology, however, you must divide this technology among your military districts ( you must have at least six ). So, logically, your military district that surrounds your capital should have the highest technology level. The cost of technology is as follows :

- 5 levels of technology; $45,000; Maximum 15 levels purchase using this method per 72 hours
- 10 levels of technology; $65,000; Maximum 40 levels purchase using this method per 72 hours
- 20 levels of technology; $205,000; Maximum 80 levels purchase using this method per 72 hours
- 45 levels of technology; $675,000; Maximum 90 levels purchase using this method per 72 hours
- 70 levels of technology; $1,500,000; Maximum 140 levels purchase using this method per 72 hours
- 150 levels of technology; $9,000,000; Maximum 300 levels purchase using this method per 72 hours
- 500 levels of technology; $3,000,000,000; Maximum 2500 levels purchase using this method per MONTH

Fights occur between regional military troops, therefore the placement of technological levels is key in warfare.

Your amount of troops also are a factor, and both share 50/50 in the total number for comparison to decide who wins a battle. Troops should also be at a ratio of 1 soldier : 3 or more civilians. Anything else is prohibited.

- 50 soldiers; $20,000;
- 100 soldiers : $35,000;
- 500 soldiers : $60,000;
- 1000 soldiers : $150,000
- 5000 soldiers : $750,000
- 10,000 soldiers : $1,000,000
During time of war, soldiers, regionally, have a daily upkeep of $1,000 dollars per soldier.

Transportation and Missiles
Transportation of troops during war is necessary. It is an inconvenience, and is also prohibited, to make soldiers walk to war, unless the enemy nation is bordering your nation. When fighting a nation that is not bordering your nation, transportation is required. Each form has their disadvantages. For example, using trucks as transport through a non-allied country with a strong military may cause in the spark of a battle, or an order to return home. The use of aircraft through a non-allied nation with many missiles may cause in the death of your troops. And of course, boats can only be used for crossing oceans, however, can also be used in naval warfare. Infrastructure should also be kept in mind. For example, using trucks to navigate a nation with few or no roads may be difficult. Vehicles for purposes other than transportation, such as tanks, should also be considered.
So, I have devised a list of the vehicles you can purchase, with vague names.

- Low level transport truck; $30,000; carries 10 soldiers
- Medium level transport truck; $50,000; carries 20 soldiers
- High level transport truck; $75,000; carries 25 soldiers

- Low level HUMVEE; $65,000; carries 6 soldiers; mounted machine gun adds +50 to comparison numbers
- Medium level HUMVEE; $150,000; carries 6 soldiers; mounted machine gun adds +75 to comparison numbers
- High level HUMVEE; $300,000; carries 8 soldiers; mounted machine gun adds +150 to comparison numbers

- Low level tank; $750,000; offensive not transportational; +600 to comparison numbers
- Medium level tank; $2,000,000; offensive not transportational; +750 to comparison numbers
- High level tank; $5,000,000; offensive not transportational; +1,500 to comparison numbers

- Low level transport plane; $1,500,000; carries 35 soldiers
- High level transport plane; $3,000,000; carries 80 soldiers

- Low level bomber; $1,000,000; offensive not transportational; +250 to comparison numbers PER BOMBING
- High level bomber; $3,500,000; offensive not transportational; +600 to comparison numbers PER BOMBING
