Upgrade your laptop dongle to 5GHZ and also your router.A massive amount of signals are on the 2GHZ range (standard range) and often cause internet drops, performance degradation and even range reduction. Even if you don't have any other devices connected, mobile phone signals and neighboring WIFI signals will be interfering.
