Combine Civil Authority Propaganda Films

When the map change first took place, one of the first neat things I noticed was the theater; but I also felt like such a neat little feature could be going to waste. I've seen (both ICly, and OOCly) the Combine Empire being compared to the Nazi Regime, wish is a good thing: few can attest to the kind of supremacy, the surveillance, and the totalitarianism that the Nazi Party instilled in occupied territories, like Paris. Except, of course, the combine.

While on the Catalyst Gaming servers, we've managed to attain the sort of threat that the Combine possesses, but the Propaganda Factor is relatively low. We've got posters, and Civil Administrator announcements, but that's close to it. So I was thinking that these three different things are rolled into one: The Theater going to waste, our comparison to the authoritarian Nazi's, and our lack of Propaganda. So, how about Propaganda Films, aired bi-weekly at the theater, with notable comparisons to WWII Propaganda Films.

My Proposal:

Admins nominate an individual among themselves who is willing to create a character who exists ICly (not necessarily as a character that walks around in-game), who directs films that are aired at the theater every other OOC week. A brief broadcast would go out announcing that a film is going to be aired, and through /it's, the admin in question would broadcast a film of whatever their sweet imagination comes up with. They can feel free to air the same film on both ends of the month.

Good idea, good idea. I think this sort of propaganda would create some aspect of good RP.

I guess it could be possible to put PlayX or whatever plays Youtube videos in and set it on a flag.

whatever you do please do not use triumph of the will, i had to study that at a post-highschool level and do an assessment on it and it's the most longest boring propaganda video you'll ever watch - the first 20 minutes or so is just hitler flying around in a plane because hardly any other nations at the time had luxurious aircraft for civilian use

If someone was devoted enough to this idea that they'd make something in SFM, that'd be all the better. I just thought it'd be much easier for people to use /it's... though that wouldn't be nearly as exciting.

I can't quite say that the UU borrows anything from either ideology.  Being as Valve took a lot of inspiration for the UU from INGSOC (From 1984), it's more about totalitarianism in general: the presence of an elite group of party members (Nazis/Communists/CWU), a repressive secret police (Gestapo/NKVD-KGB/Ministry of Love/CCA), and an ever demanding military industrial complex (Wehrmacht/Red Army/Ministry of Peace/OTA).

If we're going to start making propaganda films, I think the best place to start would be the CAB, seeing as they are in charge of selling the UU to humanity.

We had already long agreed to stay away from the Combine Nation setup, so I think we should go for something in more of a "resistance is futile" or "to help us is to survive" spiel.

This looks too much like Starship Troopers to fit into HL2RP, we're gonna have to find something darker or make it from scratch.

I've been looking into propaganda films, Half-Life videos, and stuff of that nature for a few days, and have also been looking into Steam Film Maker (though I doubt that last option will pan out, given my utter lack of skill in that department).

All in all, I'm going to write up a more formal post with some videos that could be used, along with some other options instead of strictly combine propaganda.

Although it's not directly a concern of the CCA, playing some classical music through the videos could be nice as well. Somebody can get the necessary auths and make it into live performance. Would be nice.

If it's any interest, my Consul is doing a play write project where citizens can write plays to be performed in the theatre.
My Consul will be writing an alternative version of Macbeth...
