Joseph Landa was born in Austria 1987 into a poor family of farmers and traders, Joseph had five other brothers and sisters. From the early age of 8, Joseph and his father would go hunting, as the income of the farm was not sufficient to feed them, it was here Joseph first learned some basic rudimentary rifle skills. Joseph enjoyed hunting- the thrill of tracking and killing prey was appealing to him, there was nothing quite like controlling life and death. Joseph attended basic schooling but dropped out at 15 to continue his work on the farm. The work on the farm was tedious and laborious but it felt far more fulfilling than sitting at some desk and writing. Life was simple and Joseph enjoyed it- for a time.
One cold day in spring, when Joseph was 19 years old, his beloved grandfather passed away. In his will he left Joseph his uniform; the uniform of an SS Officer, to be more precise a Commandant uniform. It was no secret in Joseph's family that his grandfather had fought in the war but it was now apparent that he had been a war criminal all this time. Despite what people thought, it was Joseph who had always admired his grandfather and continued to do so even after this, accepting the uniform as a sign of respect to his memory. Among the items that were allocated in the will, an alarming amount of it was National Socialist propaganda and memorabilia and while Joseph's family remained neutral to the items- regarding them as the past- Joseph himself hoarded the items and developed an obsession with them, as if they linked him to his grandfather. It was only a matter of time before he became indoctrinated into Nazi ideology. He became reclusive and spent hours everyday maintaining his uniform and pieces of propaganda, he read Mein Kampf cover to cover as if it were holy text. Eventually Joseph left his farm and decided to head north to the fatherland to connect with any neo-nazi movements. His journey took him to Berlin.
By autumn of 2009, when Joseph was 22, he had become involved with a large cult of neo-nazi fascists; they were thugs at best, backed up by their hateful and intolerant speeches which drove their underground campaign against the Jewish, British and Russian residents and businesses in Berlin. Joseph partook in numerous raids on Nazi targets and routinely vandalized the holocaust memorial in the city. Landa was arrested multiple times but it was only minor charges, in total he had only two years of jail time.
By 2015, Joseph was in charge of this movement and felt it his duty to lead his Arian brothers to glorious victory against the "oppressive Jewish funded" government. It was in that same year however that the Union invaded; Berlin was turned into an urban centre, Joseph's group fell into disarray, leaving him alone in this city ruled by true tyrants. Joseph had hidden his uniform out of fear of the Combine branding him a former soldier and killing him. Life was tougher than it had ever been in the city; people were starving and Joseph's hopes for Fourth German Reich lay in ruins...
That was the case until January of 2017 when Joseph heard talks of communities beyond the city and his mind became entranced with the thought of controlling a new movement of people such as himself...
Joseph was not to escape the city of Berlin until winter of 2017 but he had prepared adequately for the journey; his provisions could be rationed out to sustain him for two months if needed and he managed to trade off some of the uniform's medals and some of his now useless propaganda in return for a large bowie knife which Joseph had added to his uniform to complete it. The route out of the city took just under s week; dodging CCA vehicle and chopper patrols while trying to stay away from the Xen wildlife made things slow but once he was clear of the flatlands and headed southeast to the forests of Europe, things became easier if only marginally.
Joseph encountered many people in his travels south; some of them were Russian, British or Jewish so unfortunately for them (assuming they were alone) were either murdered by Joseph and their supplies taken or they were carved up with a swastika on various parts of their bodies. Among the items Joseph gathered was a shovel, which he would use to bury the bodies of those he killed on the road. Upon reaching Ineu Pass it was January of 2018 and there were talks of happenings in the pass, which intrigued Joseph. He was always one to be fascinated by the unknown. He has also heard word that there is an actual community there which Joseph could finally cull of any elements his ideology deemed unfit to live.
What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
Uniform- Looks snazzy and real classy
Bowie Knife- Effective at intimidation and good for carving meats up...
Rifle Skills- If Joseph were to get a weapon then it wouldn't be a completely foreign item to him.
Shovel- Can dig holes which can be useful for disposal of certain things.
Defects
Uniform- It's a nazi uniform so it makes him the biggest target in Ineu from both OTA and white knight OL'rs
Bowie Knife- Falls short in comparison to most weapons others have in Outlands
Rifle Skills- Very basic and probably not very useful against advanced marksmen
Shovel- Heavy and cumbersome.
What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to make Landa into a character that represents a long dead ideal, the Outlands lacks an element of evil, in my opinion, which can be re-introduced with this character.
