Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
                Johnny spent from 10-15 learning mostly about pirates. It all began when he was 14 in his class. His history class was learning about the Civil War. As they moved towards the end of the year the school went further down into history. The class reached a point they got to a short section, of which they learned about sea battles. They talked about how ships, and pirates along with the British royal navy. Johnny sat up in his chair listening to every word that the teacher spoke about pirates. How pirates: acted, talked, and even ships. As they learned about the many different kinds of ships they slowly started to drift away from it. Being it was towards the end of the year, and they where starting to wrap things up. Johnny found pirates interesting even the British navy. He was lucky enough to be able to find a summer camp about it. Within the first week he arrived to the camp he had leaned much. Even though it was mostly younger kids, and games regardless it was still enjoyable. Within the two weeks he had been there it was time to go home. Johnny knew what he had his mind set on.
   
                 Years have passed, and Johnny has finished high school, and is moving his way through collage. He is hoping to be a teacher, and be an expert on that time. He studied long, and hard through nights finding out more information than he could gather. He lived in collage, so he didn't leave his room much. He began to collect items from those times such as toy hats. They weren't much, but they where what he loved. Being almost done with collage his room-mate who he was so lucky to have. His friend which also has an interest in that time. Offered to take him to an auction for pirate, and naval British items. A few days passed, and they went to the auction with no money, and no intention to buy anything. As they sat through watching the items they have learned so much about be bought, and sold a cutlass  used by the British naval force came up. Jaw dropping Johnny knew he had to get his hands on that. Being it was quite a good deal, and the auction was almost over, he quickly offered 500$ for it. Another man quickly stood up offering 1000$ for the cutlass. Johnny began to sweat knowing he couldn't spend that much. As the cutlass was just about sold, and Johnny fell back to his chair giving up hope his friend jumped up offering 1500$. The other man looking at him with an odd look, and sat back down. Johnny looked up surprised at what he had just done for him. The call was made and Johnny now owned the cutlass. His friend told him just as he dropped to his chair "You owe me.............big time." Johnny nodded with his jaw dropped. Shortly after the bidding was done they went to the front to get their sword. The man told them they must pay for it first, and then they may take it away. Johnny, and his friend looked at each other remembering they didn't come with any money. They quickly formed a plan, and made it happen. Johnny ran out the door to get some cash as his friend tried to stall the man. As Johnny found a cash machine he scrambled trying to get the 1500$ He felt odd pressing that amount of cash in, but he didn't care. As he ran back he reached the buyer with his friend telling him a joke, and he handed him the money. He bent over panting as the man counted the money. He looked up smiling, reaching behind him, and handing the cutlass.

            Time has passed over collage, and Johnny lives on his own now. He gave his room mate the money, and carries the cutlass within his home. Johnny lives up in the mountains finding is quite peaceful, and relaxing there. Over the time he was in collage, and other schools he has slowly gained money for a old pirate hat along with practicing to talk like a pirate for fun. He bought a very rare flint lock pistol that was quite a lot of money, and a black leather coat, and a decent eye patch from a store. He kept these items hidden in his basement in a chest that was behind the stairs to go down. He made sure that those items never left the house. As the normal day came he didn't get much word from others being he was so far away. As he rose up from his morning sleep quite late in the afternoon he heard wild winds outside. As he walked out to his surprised he saw a giant portal rift within the sky. He had no clue what was going on. As he raced inside fiddling with the remote, he turned on the TV switching to the news. He watched in terror as they talked about these "Portal Storms", and found that most channels just had static. He watched the only a few channels remain, and they just showed footage. He watched for what seemed like hours of the horror he saw. He saw the Combine soldiers rush through the streets gunning down thousands. He knew that they would be coming to the mountains soon, so he gathered what he could. He ran down quickly to his basement cracking open the crate, and dust quickly filled the air. He grabbed the items within the box. He put on the coat, the hat , eye patch , and hung the sword from his coat. He looked at himself, and he quickly dug into the box trying to find the flint lock pistol. He dug as fast as he could searching until he heard a loud screeching sound echo throughout the mountains. He had no clue what it was, but it sounded bad. He forgot the pistol, and make a dash out the back door. He ran for as long as he could not getting far. As he was just five minutes away from his house he heard a charging sound. He started to run trying not to think what lay behind him. He heard a loud bang as the strider far throughout the mountains destroyed his house. He turned back not seeing about what happened but he knew it was his. He could hear rumbling, so he continued walking throughout the forest unsure of what he is going to do. Even though he did not know it he was lucky that the Combine only set up cities within the urban part of town. He continued to keep walking, and at night he watched the portal storms thinking "What the hell is going to come?"


What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
+ A cutlass would help in close quarter fights.
+ Speaking differently.
+ Leather coat would help with warmth.
+ Having sort of a pirate based character is unlike others.

Defects
- The cutlass can only be used in close combat.
- Eye patch is useless besides it's look.
- Due to the strong winds in the mountain the hat could be lost.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to try to have fun with this character within the out-lands. I believe it would be very different if a pirate came into the out-lands.  It would bring lots of role play along with passive too. Being mostly sea/pirate based my character would have a different kind of speech.

Extra Notes (optional):
This character is ICly crazy.....He has the equipment, and thinks he is like a pirate. Even though he isn't one. Due to spending most of his life searching on pirates he now thinks he is one due to going crazy about the Combine takeover.

This may definitely be one of the most unique things I have read in regards to authorisation topics. However, in order for me to support it, the spelling and structuring errors need to be fixed.
