The light of the breaking dawn poked its head over the horizon as the squawks and chirps of the birds reverberated through the tree tops as the whole of Ineu began to stir slowly to life. The rustling in the darkness of the Inn basement grew louder and louder as the hunched figure shuffled over to the door placed in the corner of the room, her hooves clicking on the concrete of the floor as she lifted her arms, stiffening her spine as she stretched towards the ceiling. She reached for the door knobs, jiggling it before pulling it open as a warm wisp of morning air brushed past her ears as she squinted in the light as it shone on her mottled skin to warm her, the Vortigaunt’s pupils adjusting slowly before nodding and giving a toothy grin. She turned, leaving to door open to vent the accumulated heat of the basement.

The Vortigaunt lumbered over towards her work station, the parts and books she had kept there all neatly organized as she did each time she finished for the night ever since her days atop the Clinic roof. Even back then she had been a rather inquisitive Vortigaunt, fascinated by human technology. Though she did resent some of their advances such as weaponry, as it was the belief of her people that organisms need only their own natural strength to fend for themselves. Though never the less she found allies in many of the humans, some bearing gifts as tokens of their friendships as they all knew how much she had a deep interest in technology. Ranging from car parts to destroyed scanners, she accepted them all for the sake of her research and gradually, with the assistance of her salvaged books gained a knack for the things.

She spent the majority of her days taking apart radios and old engines, tinkering with them sometimes even kick starting them with her Vortessence to test what she had changed or added. She gripped her screw driver in hand, walking over to the old black and white television she had salvaged from the facility weeks prior to the event that lead up to its currently sorry state and unscrewed the frame and looking the circuitry over a bit before pressing her screw driver at certain parts, tightening and loosing as she saw fit before lifting a claw, closing her eyes for a moment as the world seemed to slow and her mind cleared for concentration before she opened the again, the tips of her index claw ablaze with the warm sizzling light of a light blue Vortessence flame.
While many Vortigaunts focused their Vortal talents on medical or attack, Vortigaunts of her place of origin, the San’Diri, specialized in the alternate uses of the Vortessence which took on a slightly different property than the traditional green Vortessence. She began to tap about the circuitry, periodically referring back to her paged guide for assurance as the darkness of the basement began to brighten from the rising light of the sun pouring through the door, the faint sounds of sizzling and small rising column of smoke emanating from TV.  She smiled after approximately an hour, retracting her claw and letting the energy flame snuff out when without warning the door at the top of the steps on the far right of the room flew open, sending a bang through the basement and a flurry of footsteps came barreling down.

She narrowed her eyes, hissing irritably before looking towards the intruder; a female.

“Tekel, you have to come quick!” she cried, her eyes puffy and her nose red as she had clearly been weeping.

Tekel’Pakem furrowed her brow as her irritated expression evaporated.

“We beseech thee, what ill has befallen the Rematon?” Tekel’Pakem inquired, her expression blank though assuming the worst.

“It’s Doctor Neil; he’s doing bad, real bad!” Skyler retorted hoarsely as she turned, trotting up the steps gesturing for the Vortigaunt to follow.

Tekel’Pakem narrowed her eyes once again before leaning forward, propelling herself after her. After much traveling, the sun having made its journey almost half way up the sky and the bird songs ceased, replaced by the eerie croaks of frogs and chirps of crickets they finally made it to the Castle. The forlorn yellow falls gave off and almost poetic beauty, complimented even further by the garden inside while the Vortigaunt admired as they trotted inside before ascending the steps and making their way into a room where the unnerving moans of a dying older gentleman could be heard faintly.

Skyler took the doctors hand, cupping it in her own and begging him to be still.

“Shhh, its okay I brought help, Doc.” She insisted, gripping his hand tightly as Tekel shuffled into the light of the room.

Tekel’Pakem blinked towards the doctor in greeting as his pale face turned to her, flashing a meek smile.

“W-we meet a-again, m-my friend…” he wheezed, barely able to keep his eyes open.

Tekel’s eyes glazed over in emotional anguish.

“We only yearn for it to have been under more suitable circumstances.” She cooed in her aged yet calm tone.

She lifted her hands, her eyes closing as she began to chant in her native tongue and her hands began to beam to life with the bright green glow of her standard Vortessence only to feel her hands pressed down lightly by a pair of hands. Teke’Pakem opened her eyes in confusion, looking the doctor over though his expression was stoic, his frame weak and visibly trembling. Skyler looked at him in near disbelief.

“Doc, what are you doing? She’s going to help you!” she exclaimed, gripping his hand tighter.

The doctor only shook his head slowly, his lips curling up in a faint grin.

“It’s w-well past my ti-time, dear. Let nature take its c-course…” he mumbled before looking the Vortigaunt in the eye, giving a small nod.

Tekel’Pakem’s sighed before turning to Skyler.

“The Neil has chosen his path; we of the San’Diri respect his decision as a noble one. The void shall claim him soon, though do not be fooled for he shall not perish. Born he will be into a new consciousness. So is the cycle of the Vortessence.” She rasped before turning around to walk out only to have her arm weakly gripped by the frail doctor.

“P-please, wait. I-I want you to have s-something…a…p-parting gift if you will.” He choked, before letting her go and shakily pointing to the dresser.

Tekel’Pakem’s face softened as she nodded, consenting to his dying whim and scuffling to the dresser, opening it as a single white coat hung on a hook. She extended her third arm, gripping it off the hook and looking back at him. He smiled warmly as he gestured for her to try it on. She looked it over yet again before lifting it by the neck and slipping her arms through the sleeves before looking down at herself and back to the doctor.
He blinked sleepily and muttered his words.

“You l-look magnific-” he stuttered before his words cut off and he slumped back in the bed in which he lay before his arm rolled off the side of the bed, hanging down to the floor limp.

Skyler let out a cry of despair, burying her face into the sheets still clutching his rapidly cooling hand. Tekel’Pakem only bowed her head, muttering a small prayer in Vortigese before silently shuffling out of the room as the far off crack of thunder echoed through Ineu and heavy rain befell the land.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
+ Cool new skin.

+ Ability to fix/create shabby machinery and electronics with the limited parts able to salvage.

+ Something to make my vortigaunt different.

+ Extra storage space in lab coat pockets

Defects
- Electronics/machinery would be of mediocre quality needing frequent maintenance and sometimes not work.

- Possibly more of a target for Overwatch?

- Coat can rip up and would require sewing.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to use these authorizations to accelerate the passive RP that I usually do on Tekel'Pakem when not being bothered with the usual Vortigaunt requests of healing and solving dumb problems. I also want to use these perks to differentiate myself between the common Vortigaunt and in a way be like an old Vort from outer canals who had the same skin; Hotar.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
N/A

Which server does this apply for?
Outlands

Extra Notes (optional):
I've been passive RPing tinkering with radio's and mechanic parts since back in outer canals on the Clinic roof, so there is a lot of IC build up.

The sun slowly rose over the horizon, its gentle warming rays distorted poetically by the dense jungle foliage giving near fabled scenery. Fire Heart opened his eyes, for a moment lying relaxed on the ground staring up at the grass roof of his hut. As he realized the time of day he shot up from where he lay, remembering today was the big hunt for his village! Sprinting for the exit he stopped for a moment to take in how innocently his wife looked, sleeping not too far from where he was. Speeding to the entrance of the village he caught up to a group of men looking much like him, all having tanned skin, wearing nothing but simple grass loin cloths and pierced faces with various tribal paintings riddling their bodies to signify their heritage.  As he approached one of the men smiled and then gestured to the others, calling out in a humorous yet taunting tone, “Uai, het deok spay utell!” the rest of the men chuckled at the seemingly good tempered taunt to which Fire Heart rolled his eyes replying casually, “Daa, fo to kiin seg ehoi, Doshikii?” The man’s expression grew serious for a moment at this, Fire Heart and him seeming to have a stare down as the rest of the group looked on a bit troubled. As the stare down drew on for a few more seconds the mood of hostility instantly evaporated once a smirk began to crack across the man’s face and the same spread to Fire Heart and they both laughed, moving in closer and embracing each other like old friends, because they indeed were. It was Boar Might, Fire Hearts’ oldest friend, Fire Heart had always been the “runt” of the litter and picked on by his fellow villagers, in good spirit of course, but Boar Might was the one who picked on him the most, though they understood it was only a joke. The hunting party set out not long after, their spears and stone daggers readied in primal stances no animal could escape from. They moved through the jungle under growth like ghosts, making barely a shuffle as they crept about pushing palm after palm away moving closer to the snorting of a nearby boar. One of the hunters let out a small snorting call as the boar came into sight, calling its attention. While is peered curiously to where the call came from Fire Heart rose ever slowly, taking aim with his spear and jetting it towards the boar. It let out a squeal of pain and charged off, the pack of hunters behind it, jumping over vines and ducking under branches as the boar simple charged through everything in its path in a desperate dash to escape. It would have gotten away had it not been for a preset trap that the boar tripped, sending a boulder tumbling down from a tree top and slamming the boar against the tree trunk, critically wounding it. As the hunters surrounded it, it let out faint snorts as if begging for its life but Boar Might ended its pain. The hunters tied the boars legs to a large branch harvested from a tree and began to lug it off, them speaking to the good times ahead for the village because of this kill.
A fire had been lit by the tribe, its warm flames dancing seductively and its embers flying about playfully. The flesh of the boar hung over the flame now a golden brown, almost ready to eat. The cheer in the village was an all-time high as Boar Might, Fire Heart, his wife and several other men and women danced about chanting old tribal songs passed down by the elders.  However, in the midst of the celebration, the wise Oracle of the tribe, Sky Soul seemed uneasy for her aged eyes could see that which others could not. Then, the celebration turned to concern as Sky Soul stood, quieting the village down, announcing in her raspy voice, “Segoteech a tep te sep, chok chok tiol sopew kqulk tep he eep…” Her tone was troubled as the whole village looked at each other, muttering and mirroring her concern. Then her gaze turned to Fire Heart and the crooked near ancient finger of Sky Soul was pointed at him as she announced, “Uhelep thak , feir hert, sep di ek!” As she announced, the village turned to him in shock, as Fire Heart had been chosen…by destiny.
Later that night, once the village had calmed down more, Fire Heart lay beside his wife, thinking. How could he be chosen? Of all people, he was one of the less skilled warriors, sure he was a good hunter but that wasn’t much good for anything other than survival. His thoughts were interrupted by the faint sound of footsteps near the village center. He stood, unsure of who is could be. As he drew closer he came upon a human figure, seeing only its silhouette he approached only to realize in horror that it was Boar Might…dead. Stumbling back in horror he backed up into a hard metallic object, turning to see something he never would have imagined! It was at least twice his size, seeming to be human but with glowing blue eyes, a strange mask was over its face giving it a demonic appearance, covered in navy blue armor and it had a metal device clenched in both hands the likes of which Fire heart had never seen! The demon aimed its metal machine at Fire Heart menacingly as he stood there petrified realizing that the Oracle had been right, demons would come to the forest! As he stared in horror a hard whack was sent to the back of his head by someone behind him and the world went black as he fell to the ground.
When he awoke, he was strapped onto some kind of metal vehicle, shredding through the jungle with ease. He could see his village not too far away, burned down and littered with corpses. As what had happened dawned on him he looked around to see some of his remaining tribe mates, all guarded by the demonic metal men. They spoke in a tongue Fire Heart had never heard before as the swarmed about calling, “Rodger, we have the villagers, moving to City 45 Nexus for immediate amputation.” Fire Heart and the other villagers waited for their unknown fate they left the jungle into places unknown, seeing mountainous regions never thought to have existed and while passing through a small canyon the mood seemed eerily unusual. A heavy fog rolled in as the cliff walls covered them on either side leaving them no other option than the press on. The demons stalked about barely visible but were actively scanning behind and in front, but not above. Suddenly the convoy had stopped, Fire Heart looking about in desperation only to look up and see the faint figure of a human…and then another…and then ten more…and then twenty until a whole army of figures stood several feet above them on the cliff sides. A loud war cry from all the figures boomed through the canyon as loud discharges went off and fast moving projectiles rained down into the canyon at the demons, it was an ambush! The demons were taken by storm, lasting little more than minutes from the surprise flurry of bullets. One the last one fell, the human figures slid down the mountain side, their faces revealed though looking much different from Fire Hearts’, their faces clean of most piercings and body paint and bodies clothed with bulky vests and metal machines of death in hand. They unbound Fire Heart and his companions and ran off into the mist calling behind them, “Come on! Run!” Some villagers ran after them, while some were too weak from the trip or were still wary of their saviors and decided to make the trip home. Fire Heart decided the leave with his saviors to a new beginning. He knew not where they would lead him, only that it had to be better than here so he followed…to the Outlands.

IC Chat / City 18

City 18

OOC prologue: This story is more based on my time in the community Sigma 7 before it died so a lot of the stuff happening in here doesn't exist in CG like the "water treatment plant" but still I think it's a nice touch.

Chapter 1 - And so it begins...

A distant female voice is heard over a city wide intercom “Welcome to City 18, its safer here.” As cold metal doors slid open I walked out onto the subway platform, several strange men in black and white uniforms, faces hidden behind white plastic protective masks began directing citizens out of the subways. Out of the corner of my eye I saw one of the strange men grab a woman’s suitcase and roughly yank it from her hands and radio “Any available units, we have a non-compliant citizen, please advise.” When something buzzed over the radio the man unclipped a metal stick with zaps of electricity jolting from the tip, but at that instant my vision was blocked by a second strange man saying with a cold tone apparent even with vocalizers on “Move along, citizen.” But the horrid whacks were clearly heard from behind him. As I walked out, flying machines snapping pictures of people flew by and the voice over the intercom rang though the city again “Welcome to City 18. The Civil Protection are here to help you,” then the voice became cold and chilled me to my very soul “Do not resist them.”

Chapter 2 - Getting on your feet

I wandered out of the station plaza and into the first district, at least that’s what one of signs read. Every street corner had at least one of these “Civil Protection” stationed at them, there was nowhere to go and nothing to do without being seen. I came to this city not by my own choice…I was actually herded more than anything else, but I do remember that before we got on the trains for City 18, the supervisors were kind enough to give us 50 credits each to “help us get on our feet” I just assumed it was to buy a home. Eventually the darkened putrid colored sky began to weep as droplets tainted with the tang of rubbish cascaded from the heavens, I let a droplet or two fall on my tongue before realizing how bitter it tasted and decided to go for cover while the Civil protection stood like statues, unmoving. I soon found myself in an apartment complex called 45th Apartments. I figured while I was here I might as well get myself a place to stay, as I walked up to the reception counter I laid eyes upon a timid looking woman with soft hazel eyes and quite the complexion with her nose in a book that read “Vortiguant Anatomy”. She looked up as if expecting to see someone with an axe running at her and said “C…can I help you?”
“Yes, do you have any apartments for sale by any chance?”
Her face brightened up slightly as she realized I was no threat and stated “Why, yes. Apartment 2-A just opened up a few days ago, but if you’re looking to move in that would require 25 credits as payment, if you’re looking to rent then it’d be a 15 credit down payment and 5 credits monthly.” I slid her 25 of my credits and she handed me the key in return. “Enjoy your new home... I’m sorry,” then she gazed at me curiously, “I don’t think I caught your name.”
“Felix Saunders,” I started proudly and then smiled “At least last time I checked it was, what about you?”
She giggled and then with a warm smile she spoke, “I’m Jasmine, nice to meet you Felix. Anyways enjoy your new home!” I nodded my thanks and turned to leave when out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw her checking me out and I smiled to myself when I realized she actually was and continued walking. I finally reached my new apartment and slipped the key into the lock and opened my door, what was inside was nothing too amazing, the room was shabby dark teal wall paper that was tattered and stained with scratched and badly chipped oak flooring, A small kitchen area, and a bathroom. In the living room/bedroom there was but a single window overlooking the street, while I was looking out the window one of the flying machines floated up making a silent humming noise and blinded me with its bright flash used to take its pictures, making me stumble back and trip over a slightly lifted board. As I winced from both the flash and the fall I cursed silently to myself and got back up. “Well,” I whispered to myself, “Might as well find something to occupy my time, maybe a job or something.”

Chapter 3 - City working

As I exited my apartment I made sure to lock the door behind me. By the time I got outside 45th the rain had stopped, though it had done all except wash away the foul odor of the city. As I walked into the plaza the female voice came echoed through the streets again “All citizens wishing to work please make your way to the Water Treatment Facility, shifts will begin in 5 minutes.” I wandered aimlessly for a while still lost in the urban maze as I was accustomed to the country life, until I came upon a set of double doors that had a sign above reading “Water Treatment Facility”. As I stumbled in, I met a lengthy line leading to a desk where a Civil Protection officer stood assigning people jobs. Eventually as a couple minutes went by I was next in line, as I stepped up to the counter as everyone else had done the unit, not looking up from the computer screen in front of him said bluntly “Apply.” I looked at him inquisitively “What?” This time the unit looked up at me and repeated “Apply.” I looked around obviously lost, not knowing what to do. “Apply!” he exclaimed, this time more aggressively.
“What does that mean?!”
“You’re not from around here, are you?”
“No.”
The officer sighed heavily and stated crossly “Apply means you give me your Civil ID and name.” At the mention of “Civil ID” I remembered the supervisors back when I first got on the train headed here had gave me a card with some numbers, my name, and my picture on it; I figured that’s what he meant. I whipped it out of my back pocket and read the numbers aloud “My ID is 75281 and my name is Felix Saunders.” The unit looked back to his computer and said “Felix, you’re on Water Flow Distribution.” I looked at him yet again, this time cocking and eyebrow obviously saying I had not a clue what he was talking about but he only chuckled “I’m done with you, you figure out the rest. Just don’t screw up…it’s you’re drinking water your handling in there!”
I turned away from the placement desk to witness the massive pumping and filtration machines that lined the walls buzzing, beeping, and booming with many citizens manning each one. Now I had to find the “Water Flow Distribution” machine, I scanned around but couldn’t identify it, as I went over to the biggest machine I could find a robotic sounding holler flared from across the room “Hey! Hey you, 75281! Not that machine, stupid!” a Civil Protection officer was looming over me at this point his vocalizers straining from scolding me. Then he pointed to the machine in the far right corner “That’s the Water Flow Distribution machine!”
“Okay, okay, jeeze. I’m new, okay?” I stammered after he finished, and the CP grunted as a reply and stalked off. I walked over to the medium sized humming machine console that had many blinking lights and colorful button, and two very distinct arrows, one facing left and the other facing right. I assumed those were the directions the water was flowing, however right under the arrows there was a gauge that read 0.00, and I had no clue of its purpose.

Chapter 4 - City working and it's conflicts...

I began nervously pressing buttons and turning dials, soon following the gauge increased to 5.89 and I pulled on a handle next the right arrow which made it blink on and the slosh of filthy water echoed throughout the room as it began to flow through the pipes into another rather large machine which began beeping and steaming. I smiled to myself a little figuring I must have done something right, suddenly a command was yowled from the citizen behind the machine where the water was flowing to and he looked rather irritated “We need more water intake! We’ll never get these tanks filled up at this rate, and direct the water to the other tank will you!” I whipped around back to the console panic stricken thinking nervously what am I gonna do? I haven’t a foggiest idea how to work this….thing! I hurriedly began pressing buttons and turns dials again and the gauge stooped to 1.24 and most of the sound of water died down, replaced by the eerie sound or tickling under the booming machines. I was turned around by a man with a face twisted in anger exclaiming in my face, a little closer than I felt comfortable with a few angry citizens behind him “What are you doing?! Get it right, or I’ll set you straight!”
The light of anger flared in my eyes as I pushed him away from me “Get off my back! I’ve never been here before; you wanna come and work this? Be my guest!” The man stumbled back and tripped over a lifted cable on the floor with a hard thud and the whole facility went deathly quiet aside from the machines of course as heads of the people working bobbed up out of the lake of machinery. The people behind the man hauled him up and his face was now unreadable, darkened as if a shadow fell across the building, he stared at me; his icy cold glare seeming the be looking into the very confides of my soul. He stated bluntly “You my friend have messed with a very bad man. And you will have wished you hadn’t. I will-” his threat was cut short by three Civil Protection officers approaching the disruption with stunsticks in hand, electricity zapping from the tips waiting eagerly to taste flesh “Citizens, against the wall!” one of them commanded harshly. The anger that had shimmered in my eyes died away and my heart sank as I realized my situation; first day, first offence.

Chapter 5 - Jail bird

The citizens led by the man attempted to run out of the building but to no avail, spare CP by the door tackled them all the ground. One of them said over the radio in the station “Any available units, we have several non-compliant citizens, Requesting back up in the W.T.P.” I figured that meant Water Treatment Plant. Meanwhile, the captured trouble makers had their hands bound behind them with zip ties, though it hadn’t stopped them from cursing up a storm. But one thing was apparent even through the loud cursing and the buzzing of machines and uneasy mumbling of the remaining citizens and that was the name of the man who had threatened me “You better watch your back, kid! I’m coming for you; Kevin Corteen is coming for YOU!” That made my stomach feel like a stone sinking into a pond but my panic was interrupted by a CP shoving me roughly against a wall. Face met concrete as I was slammed against the nearest wall, pain buzzing through me as he roughly yanked my arms down and zip tied me. The CP grabbed at my collar and guided me out of the plant; the onlookers were commanded to return to work by the remaining CP. As I walked out with the CP almost dragging me as hot foul air of the city felt almost refreshing compared to the putrid, hot, noisy water plant. After some time of rounding corners we came to a combine barricade, the CP scanned his card and the doors opened leading to a half of the city I had no idea was here. He pulled me to another metal door and scanned his card again when the door slid open he pushed me inside, and I tumbled inside. The CP strode inside and commanded “Get up!” I scrambled up, the urge for battle screeching through every part in my body and it must have been obvious for as soon as I got up the CP shoved me back in a quick movement and withdrew his 9mm pistol, so by the time I was able to recover from that shove I was looking down it’s darkened barrel. “Don’t test me,” the CP’s robot like voice buzzed from his mask “If you try anything I can just shoot you, file up some paper work and I’m done.” I looked down the barrel, then at the officer and I calmed myself down sighing “Fine…”
He holstered his weapon and led me down to the containment cells; he waved his card in front of a strange machine on a cell door and the orange light on it glowed green making the door open by itself. The CP pointed into the cell and barked “Get in.” The cell was unnaturally dark and reeked of death, as if someone had stayed in confinement for too long and perished. I sluggishly shuffled into the cell and the Civil Protection officer slammed the cell door in my face and I heard the strange machine on the other side of the door lock itself. There was not much light and the little that there was came from a small window next to the door of the cell. This revealed some blood on the back wall that looked rather…..fresh. I felt my way around the cell and I have to admit, it was about the size of a broom closet. There was a small splintery wood bench nailed to the ground inside it. When I found it I sat down gloomily, splinters poking through the back of my pants but I didn’t really notice, I was too angry that I was dragged here when that man, Kevin, started it! The officer that had taken me here knocked on the window, when I looked up, half my face shrouded in the shadows of the cell I asked moodily “What?!” “Apply.” Was my response, and I looked at him questioningly
“What?”
“Apply!”
I dwelled on that word for a second or two before remembering that “apply” meant my CID and name. But I still refused “Why? I shouldn’t even be here, he came to me first.” The CP’s voice became harsher than before “That’s not what I asked, citizen! I said apply!” yet I still shook my head defiantly, the officer sighed and raised his walkie to his mask “Non-compliant citizen, preparing to reeducate.” Within second the response came over with much static in the background “Roger. Proceed.” I looked through the window clueless “What’s that? What does reeducate mean?” the CP chuckled and stated as he opened the cell door the same as he had before “You’ll find out soon enough.”

Chapter 6 - The makings...

He grabbed me by my zip tied hands and raised them up in an unbearably painful manor and steered me toward another room on the far side on the detainment cells. He swiftly opened the door and pushed me inside. I stumbled, but kept my balance and I trotted to the far wall of the room. This room was much better lit, with a long metal table and a chair behind it, there was also a long window that I could not see through from my end and an intercom in the corner. The CP soon strode inside and unclipped his stunstick, gingerly shutting the metal door behind him. “Now, for that re-education process.” He rasped as he drew closer to me but for each step he took forward I took one back until I reached the end of the room. As he came within range he lifted his stunstick in the air threateningly, blue sparks of electricity jutting out from the movement and brought it down hard! Since my hands were still zip tied behind me, there wasn’t much I could do except try to move out of the way in the little time I had. I leaned to the right at the last second, the stick meeting concrete as several chips sprayed out into my eyes, briefly blinded I lost balance and fell over, but before I even hit the ground the sickening crack of my ribs coursed through the air as the CP’s heavy metal boot met my abdomen sending me hurtling across the room into the table. I landed awkwardly on the edge of the table on the edge causing it to flip over only to look up to the familiar white mask I have seen too often since my arrival. He grabbed me by the neck with one hand and tightly gripped his stunstick with the other and crashed its electric tip into the side of my face. As metal met flesh, a flood of electricity rippled through my body making me scream, it was blood curdling and echoed through the halls of the Nexus as all went slowly dark. The last things I remember were hazy, as the darkness lifted slightly and I was being dragged out of the room, then the dark claimed me again. It lifted one last time long enough for me to see a sign…it read “Armory” then all was black.
Slowly my senses came back to me, first the metal clanking of far away footsteps and the steady swift sound of someone hitting keyboard keys, then the strong odor of machinery. As my eyes slowly opened a hard deep blue metal ceiling was my first view, I moved my head around viewing my surroundings, there was a big glass cage in the corner with a odd creature that had two little feet in the back and was propped up by two long horn looking things in front of it and it looked as though it had an indentation where it’s belly would be that was bloody. As I scanned forward there was a flight of stairs and an open cabinet filled with medical equipment, it was then I figured I was in a hospital. And finally there was a CP sitting in front of a big console typing something on it, when I turned my head towards the CP, it shot a sideways glance toward me and spoke “Ahhh….you’re awake at last.” Its voice was peculiar to me, before, the other officers sounded more….deeply transmitted but as it stood and I examined its figure, the realization dawned on me. This CP was not like the others, this one was female! However, female or not I wasn’t about to just trust a Civil Protection officer after what had happened so I asked warily “Where am I?” she looked at me an answered simply “The Nexus medical bay.” There was a brief awkward silence that hung in the room like a heavy fog until she approached me “Well, you took quite the injury. Do you hurt anywhere?”
I quickly inspected myself, putting pressure in various spots to see if I had pain, I winced in some spots more than others. “Yeah, a little here and there.” I replied still wary and alert of my surroundings, the female CP glided over to the open medical cabinet across the room with grace and picked up a cylindrical container and came back screwing off the cap and passing it to me. I took the bottle like container cautiously and peered into it only to see its murky green and yellow contents, as I held it further from my face in obvious disgust she chuckled slightly and said gently “Don’t worry, it’s not poison or anything, it may taste bad, but it will help you heal.” I stared at her, shocked at how tender her voice sounded….almost…..motherly!

Devan McGullen's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: =ExG= Sexy Frog

IC Character Name: Devan McGullen

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Devan McGullen wants to join the Combine Civil Authority force for many reasons for the sake of not limiting it to one. His primary reason is the conditionings his father instilled in him from a astonishingly early age which makes him in a way subconsciously obey those who are in command. The CCA themselves, being the primary influence of City 45, he would obey them from the rank of recruit to Sector Commander. He feels the best way to serve these officers he deems as protectors is to join amongst their ranks for the better of himself and the better of his beloved City 45. His conditioning has always caused him to look up to his superiors like that of a child looking up to their father or other inspirational elder so a sense of inspiration by the daily tasks of the CCA is also a factor in his wishing to join.
He also has a sense of justice in a way as he wishes nothing more than to help his community and the people within it. He believes the most effective method would be to join the force and help to actively shape his city in which he does indeed like, maybe not for the people itself but for the officers if not anything else as he feels they are honorable and brave and Devan believes these are the qualities needed to make a difference and so he is desperate for these qualities to grow within him and he can use them for his choices of helping the city better itself. He also wants the chance to be rid of the scum from the streets due to his first arrival he met the most unruly citizens and thus concluded that was not life for him and more than anythingÂ…he wanted them put away!
Ever since he was a child he wanted to be a doctor or something within the medical field but since he had not free rein over his life he was stuck as a business man and was quite unhappy with his profession. Once he came to the city, all that changed, he started from scratch as one of the common rabble and prayed for a job in medicine. He heard the CCA, however, had a medical division called “Nova” and was deeply interested as he believed his prayers had been answered and so he went about asking units.  As he gathered more and more information his mind was finally becoming clear on what he himself wanted for the first time in years, he would submit his application post haste.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Obidient, loyal, willing to prove self, eager to help the Union

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
Honestly, I have an oh-one unit in the CCA already, I know what to expect there but as far as my character goes, he is clueless. I expect for him it will be a challenge and I expect that higher up will put him to the test. Should he fail at his tasks he would most likely be disserviced and maybe even be off world relocated if he screws up bad enough. Since he wants nothing more to help the cause he dedicated his new life to he will try his best to climb through the CCA ranks and go about the day to day life. His mind, past skills, and body will be totally put to the test as he is initaiated into the force and is given orders for the frist time since he was a child with his father.

Devan McGullen is a loyal man due to his fathers conditioning so as far as orders, no matter how much hates what he has to do, he will do it. However for me, even though I know what to expect and have a high ranking unit I will be sure not to act like a hardass cause I know the do's and don't of HL2rp. Being a hardass recruit with a man who has no experiance in violence what so ever is a total no no. I also expect this to be rather refreshing as it will be a bit liberating to play from a low rank again, back when you basically have no real responsibilities other than standard directives. Also the fact that I expect this to be a little like a "refresher course" if you would, as I brush up on the old CCA basic skills.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Devan McGullen had been the son of a well known business figure head in his homeland of Scotland in the city of Aberdeen. His mother had passed while giving birth and left him alone with his father who did his greatest to keep Devan out of trouble and shape into a great man so that one day he would take over the business and make it better than ever. His father showered him with gifts at an early age and practically raised him to be entirely obedient and a respectable young boy. At the age of thirteen, Devan had been a model student attending a prestigious private middle school in Aberdeen known at Trinity Lutheran middle school. He mastered many of the skills taught there at the beginning of the school year but as he began to become more social his father feared that he would be influenced by his friends to make poor choices and Devans social life actually did display these actions his grades began to slip from AÂ’s to BÂ’s and then even as far as DÂ’s and CÂ’s. DevanÂ’s father withdrew him from the school and hired a private teacher to teach Devan all he needed to know about business and the profession that his father was in. Devan had not been too happy with this but due to his early conditioning, every bone in his body, every fiber of his being screamed for him to obey, and so he did.
He continued to grow and learn the tricks of the trade as it were and became a fine asset to his father’s fortune as he began to work as a treasurer and manage the flow of funds. As the years passed, Devan turned twenty and his father had fallen gravely ill, but Devan had no time to grieve due to the Mega Corporation he had to run but during the small time he did have, he snuck to visit his father. Then finally the day had come, he had been contacted by the doctor in Intensive Care and was told of his father’s soon to be fate and he rushed over. As he ran to his father’s side the heart monitor had steadily been beeping faster and faster. He stood beside his father’s deathbed and kneeled grasping his hand as his father looked deep into Devan’s eyes and sputtered out the words that still ring in his head to this day, “Son, you have made an old man proud….carry on my legacy…” and then the heart monitor faded into a steady flat line. Devan simply bowed his head and balled his fists tightly, hot tears streaming from his face to the hospital floor as all seemed to be enveloped in gray for him. In the three years that followed, Devan had grown weary of his job as the CEO of his late father’s business and chose a predecessor to take his place when he retired.
The day had been long and dull for him; it was finally his last day within the halls of the corporation his father built from the ground as he was to hand it over to more able hands, as he was about to sign the contract that legally gave the business up, everything went wrong. Portals began to open around Aberdeen and made headline news as creatures of unimaginable proportions and variety flowed onto Earth from a place unknown and began killing everything in their wake, giant three legged tan creatures strode about that leveled entire buildings and smaller blue ones hunted people down like animals shooting explosive projectiles about. As Devan watched from the top floor of his building, the TV behind him went an about an alien invasion and the horrors being witnessed on the streets. He was rushed to safety by security and ran to the city outskirts to escape the violence; the city was enveloped in complete pandemonium as the screams, gun fire and explosions echoed for miles. Eventually after a long time of running, fate caught up with Devan as he was captured! He was shipped to City 45 where he was expected to live and be a model citizen and do as told, of course this came natural to him as it was how he was raised to be from the beginning. He always did what CCA units told him to do and did much to help the Union from cleaning to reporting anti-civil propaganda and contraband and this eventually enabled him to go about collecting his valued loyalist points. The day came that he was cleaning the Nexus entrance pillars and after much hard work he got them to shine, where a unit came out and nodded and told him to apply in the usual heavily vocoded voice in which Devan complied. “One loyalist point added, citizen.” The unit called and then looked closely at his datapad to see Devan had achieved five points and dug in his satchel to pull out a loyalist band and gave it to Devan saying, “Wear it with pride.” Devan smiled and fastened the band to his right leg, he decided to submit his application first thing in the morning to further help the Union. Finally, he had found purpose again!

5) Have you ever had a CCA character here at Catalyst Gaming?  If so, explain why it was removed.
Yes I have, APEX-01.211 is not removed she is still as alive as ever, I simply am character whore who wants another unit to go NOVA but doesn't want my only unit to go back to being oh-four.

Devan was showered with gifts and his father eventually decided his sons fate for him dictating that he would pursue the field of trade just like his old man, and from an early age conditioned him to be obedient to whomever lead and put him in prestigious schools near where they lived. Devan had tried his best to be a loyal and near spitting image of the soulless robotic obeying machine of a son his father fantasized of.
Eventually during his middle school years he became more social and outgoing now that he was actually making friends and some of his friends had been bad influences. His social life consumed his studious life causing Devan’s grades to slip daily and his father feared he would lose his dream child if it persisted. Devan’s father came to his school that day and withdrew him, making a rather large and unnecessary scene on how his father was “saving him from the delinquents of this barbaric place and taking him home to be safe”. Devan complied as his conditioning swayed his decisions just as his father intended it to since Devan was a whelp.
Devan was home schooled by a teacher that Mr. McGullen had hired from Cambridge University to teach his fifteen year old son everything he needed to know for his predetermined future in business. As years passed Devan worked as the manager of his father’s billions as managed them responsibly and as directed by his father but deep inside Devan longed to strive for the medical field….he wanted to help people and make an name for himself in the word and not be trapped in his father’s shadow, but such a day would never come. When his father fell ill with both terminal and inoperable brain cancer Devan took over the business and ran it even better than his father did but with much less than half the joy. Although his father had been a dictator in his life Devan always visited him when he could.
Finally the day came when his father passed and he was left alone in the world, his misery nearly drove the company into the ground and he made the decision to hand it over to someone more capable of running it to save his father’s work. When he was about to sign the papers her war that lasted so few hours broke out and Devan had to flee. Half way to the next city, Devan was captured and sent to City 45 where again, due to his accursed conditioning took to being a loyalist immediately. Now, after obtaining his needed loyalist points and loyalist band he waits for his applications feed back.

OOC Details

1. How long have you played on role-playing servers in general?
Since my seventh grade year, I'm in ninth now.

2. How long have you played on serious servers?
Since my eighth grade year.

3. How long have you played on Catalyst Gaming?
Also eighth grade since HL2rp was my first serious RP experiance.

4. What Time zone are you in?
Eastern Standard Time

5. In what country do you live?
USA

6. How old are you?
15

7. What’s your most memorable quality RP experience?
By far my most memorable RP experiance is between an experiance I had here in our very own Catalyst-Gaming and one I had in NecropolisRP. The one in Catalyst was when I was on 211 and we had a report of a homocide in the UCH, I had two recruits patroling with me at the time and we answered, reporting it to the HC. Long story short, the murderer was a homocidal 10-103M who cut a man in half, wrote demonic symbols on the wall in the mans blood and was crawling on the floor and stuff and screaming "DIE DIE DIE!" I was in the firing squad that amputated her and it. Was. Horrifying!

8. Do you consider yourself a good listener?
I have to be, if not I get yelled at IRL. So yes.

Authorization(s):
Vortigaunt Slave (Conscript)

Name: Ilek'Omav
Age: 111
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Combine

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
The Xenian day had been long and dull; Ilek’Omav had been assisting his kin in gathering sustenance to feed themselves along with the young. A gentle breeze rolled by signaling an invitation for the Vortigaunt foraging party to head back to their village and share their bountiful catch with the rest of the kin, they strolled back calmly but ever alert for impending dangers of antlion attacks and such. As they neared the village, the fungal growths flattening under their hooves the village young playfully made their way to the party making cheerful sounds that Vortigaunts make when ecstatic, one of the young being Ilek’Omav’s  daughter Deliel’Senhar. She approached her father daintily, a group of her kin behind her and called to Ilek’Omav cheerfully in their native language of Vortigese, “Doreki, Ilek’Omav den gong de gop darr!” To which Ilek’Omav let out a chuckle and greeted his daughter with love. Later that day, the village rejoiced as the foraging party had been particularly successful in bringing in food and they also celebrated the birth of one of the village female’s new child, whom was said to be a fine specimen and would master the power of vortessence brilliantly when his time to learn would arrive. All the Vortigaunts in the village danced gleefully in celebration, some chose to feast rather than dance but they participated either way. After a few moments in the celebration, Ilek’Omav departed to his hut for a moment as he felt something was a bit off, little did he know it was to become a night he’d never forget!
Little Deliel made her way home to look for her father who had left rather early for a reason unknown to find him upon the floor, meditating however looking rather troubled. “Ilek’Omav, den den okep diok?” Ilek’Omav opened his wide red eye and looked the Deliel’Senhar troubled and opened his mouth to say something but before a word was even uttered, Ilek’Omav felt as through his stomach turned upside down when a large black dot popped in the horizon and made the sound louder than anything he had heard before as the sky ripped asunder and flashed brightly, bathing everything in seemingly perpetual blinding light. Deliel’Senhar squeaked with fear as she clopped hurriedly to the safety of Ilek’Omav and he held her in a vain attempt to shield her. From the little he saw, there were things being uprooted and sucked into the rift, then came the shrieks of the village as they too began to be swept off the ground and captured by the light rift. Soon, the suction grew to a point where everything was being taken even Ilek’Omav and his daughter themselves as they were lifted off the ground. Deliel’Senhar squealed in fright and Ilek’Omav joined in at they were lifted to the sky carelessly. Then Xen was gone, and all was blank.
Ilek’Omav awoke to the sounds of gulls, heavy winds and crashing waves. His eyes slowly opened and he lifted his head puzzled as to where he was. Suddenly the memories of what happened dawned on him as his scrambled up and searched about wildly for Deliel’Senhar, only seeing the vast blue ocean on one side and unknown land on the other. He walked along the shore for a bit, in desperate search of his daughter to find her limp, half buried in the sand. He rushed to her side, dropping to his knees in horror, scooping his child in his arms and hung his head, was she dead? As he began to loose all hope, Deliel’Senhar gasped into liveliness, coughing and sputtering water and sand. Ilek’Omav’s face brightened, glad that his daughter was, for the most part, unharmed. They spent what seemed like years to them in hiding within the dense foliage of their environment, feeding primarily on the aquatic animals in the ocean and quickly found they were not alone there. Months passed and they discovered there was another species that walked up right just as they did but looked much different and were sentient. They did their best to avoid contact with these creatures and overheard some of what they spoke due to close calls, almost being detected when not paying attention while foraging or Deliel’Senhar straying too far. After weeks of hiding from the creatures, Ilek’Omav grew curious and decided he would try and study them a bit if he could. For several more months they stayed hidden, Ilek’Omav now studying the ways of the creature’s culture and tongue, even picking up on a bit of it himself. Ilek’Omav dubbed the creatures the name ‘Segoli’ as he did not know their true name were humans. Ilek’Omav was temped many times to reveal the existence of himself and his daughter to the Segoli’s as he felt it would benefit his and his daughters survival but always talked himself out of it, convinced it was a terrible idea. Then one day, their unannounced coexistence with the Segoli’s ended as quickly as it came…
The day had been particularly cooler than all the others, the airs tang of salt hung thick and bothered Ilek’Omav slightly but he dealt with it. He heard loud discharges in the distance and shrieks of Segoli’s, he instinctively picked up Deliel’Senhar and kept her close in case things became too dangerous and went in for exploration. What he found was total chaos, Segoli’s darted in all directions, their buildings on fire and many dead on the paths. Several creatures who seemed to have the figure of a Segoli but covered in armor, with strange masks, and large instruments that shot projectiles marched about, killing Segoli’s! Ilek’Omav looked on in horrific shock, covering Deliel’Senhar’s eyes. As Ilek’Omav looked on, a squad of armored Segoli’s noticed him looking on and charged after him. He was not prepared for a struggle and made a dash back to the ocean. As he ran, he tripped on a mangrove knee jutting from the ground and dropped Deliel’Senhar, she tumbled and cried out in fear as she was held at gunpoint by one of the armored Segoli’s. When Ilek’Omav recovered and saw the scene, anger boiled inside him. How dare this Segoli threaten his own flesh and blood! He channeled all his rage and anger into a large brightly shinning ball of electricity and placed both claws together, firing a concentrated blast of Vortessence at the Segoli. The Segoli fell over, its armor charred and a radio message emitted from its suit. But with the death of one, dozens swarmed the scene. They aimed their weapons menacingly at him and his daughter, whom was now in his arms again and he placed her down, raising his hands to the sky in surrender, signaling for his daughter to do the same. One Segoli approached and butted Ilek’Omav to the ground with the end of its weapon, to which Deliel’Senhar did not take lightly and bit the Segoli’s leg in vein defense of her father. The Segoli looked down malevolently and aimed for her. Ilek’Omav could only watch in agony as her blood sprayed on the sand and she collapsed to the floor. He looked up, his eyes burning with unfathomable rage, he began to rise but was butted again and he fell unconscious.
He awoke yet again, he could not tell where he was only that he was in motion. It was dark, cold and smelled like the musk of machinery. He tried to use his Vortessence to break free but he could not concentrate enough, it was odd, he was always able to use Vortessence. As he looked down slightly from the little wiggle room he has he could make out a waist belt and wrist bands on himself, he was now a prisoner….a slave to the Union…

- Chained up most of the time
- Tool of the Union

Vortigaunt outlands refugee

Name: Tekel'Pakem
Age: 85
Gender: Female
Affiliation: None

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
The air was crisp and warm, the sun lazily beaming down over the outlands landscape. The vortigaunt known as Tekel’Pakem sat along the wall of the sewers, its muck smearing onto her back as two humans, both of which had weapons joined her. One was armed with an “MP7”, as the humans referred to it; she had blonde hair and green eyes and went by “The Rita”. While the other had nothing but a pipe, he had black hair and brown eyes and went by “The Eric” both of which were on the opposite wall from Tekel’Pakem looking about alertly for possible OTA. The female spoke up, her voice weary from a long days travel, “Now that we are finally in the safety of the sewers, Tekel, why not tell us how you ended up here? You know, in outlands…” The Eric nodded in agreement to her statement and said curiously, “Please do!” Tekel’Pakem looked at the too, her large round eyes darting about thoughtfully, as the noise of choppers rang about in the distance, “Very well, Tekel’Pakem have grown to trust the humans. Listen, for Tekel’Pakem shall only tell tale once and once alone.” She looked down into the murky sewage water and began, “Once, long ago Tekel’Pakem came from border world known to the humans as, Xen-” Her tale of how she came to be of this world had begun.
“Tekel’Pakem was there, her kin and Tekel’Pakem, we been awaiting the Renar’kek’s ritual, as the Renar’kek choose extend training and study our kin’s not well past. We, one of few peaceful tribes of Xen, and this was before time that Tekel’Pakem spoke your “English”, so expect Vortigese, Tekel’Pakem’s native language. As Tekel’Pakem was telling, yes, we were awaiting the Ranar’Kek’s ritual… the Denok’Alar gone to the Renar’kek’s hut to call him over for ritual in most befitting wear. We been waiting this moment for several decades, the Denok’Alar had returned with the Renar’kek and they strode to ritual grounds proud, all our kin watched on with glee and all proud!  The Denok’Alar had begun saying words of our people; Tekel’Pakem still remembers exact words the Denok’Alar spoke, even now. “Gala gol, henok gong tar amak, Dagok atag ga magoi-” The Denok’Alar had cut off when great tear scratched sky. Tear opened swiftly and showed image, like of world Tekel’Pakem never seen, many kin of Tekel’Pakem’s scattered, fearful. Tekel’Pakem, like most, joined panic and began to flee as rift began to absorb all in path! Tear lifted tightly rooted Xen plants and fungus from right under hoof, Tekel’Pakem had seen the Renar’kek holding plants and onto the Denok’Alar, after they too, swallowed by the abyss. Tekel’Pakem ran but not make very far as Tekel’Pakem had begun lifting off of ground, Tekel’Pakem tried to hang to anything she set claw on, but to no use! Tekel’Pakem had been sent skyward into tear and last memory Tekel’Pakem have of her home world was shrieks and vision of villagers fleeing or lifting away with her.” Tekel’Pakem looked up focused, her eyes became blurry; and then without warning, she realized her eyes had begun to leak. She lifted her arm and wiped at the tears and looked back to the humans whom had looks of sorrow and sympathy upon their faces. “No pity Tekel’Pakem; she not need the humans attempt for sympathy. You want listen, and so Tekel’Pakem tell.” She looked to the water again and begun recalling her tale once more.
“First memory Tekel’Pakem had of planet she on now, was of her falling great distance from unknown height, her eyes little blinded by rushing gusts of wind but Tekel’Pakem was able make out tall, curious flora. All green and Tekel’Pakem kept falling, she fell until she landed in one of tall, wood creatures the humans call, “trees”. Tekel’Pakem fell into tree, hitting many limbs on way down but Tekel’Pakem managed landing onto lush green ground without serious injury. However, hitting ground, Tekel’Pakem had fallen unconscious. When she had woken, there was not much about, lush green trees and grass only. Tekel’Pakem gotten to her hooves and limping in random direction, soon meeting rather….unfriendly creature. It was creature Tekel’Pakem had never laid eyes on, nothing same compared to those of Xen, was of color yellow with odd black spots and bellowed its attack call fiercely, though Tekel’Pakem cannot recall name it-” Tekel’Pakem was interrupted by the Rita as she said, “I’m quite sure that was a Jaguar…they were beautiful animals. Actually quite-” The Rita had stopped mid-sentence as she saw Tekel’Pakem glaring at her angrily and stuttered, “Uh…s-sorry…” Tekel’Pakem nodded her thanks and began again, “As Tekel’Pakem had been saying, this “Jaguar” as the Rita say uttered  fierce roar and jumped at Tekel’Pakem, she been wounded at time and was knocked off her hooves as it tried to slash at her, luckily for Tekel’Pakem she had heard call of her kin as they rushed Tekel’Pakem’s aid! They charged green powers of Vortessence and shot them at creature. It feel aside, limp with large scorch where blow had hit. Tekel’Pakem lifted herself and held her side as the kin rushed to her saying, “Togel den awak, golek gullam?” Tekel’Pakem simply replied, “Togek, regok Tekel’Pakem.” Tekel’Pakem’s kin landed in lands several hours ahead of her and created small camp not far from where she had been. Tekel’Pakem was able, with help of her kin to get to camp, where the kin used their Vortessence to areas of her injuries order for healing.  We stayed put many days, hidden away from sight and surviving off of unknown plants and animals, when peace we had kept for small amount of time undone as the “Combine” began to invade! They fired, left and right killing most of Tekel’Pakem’s kin as we fled through trees, a small amount of us lived but those who did such as Tekel’Pakem forced to slavery as what Combine called, “Conscripts”. At this point Tekel’Pakem still knew little to no English, the bit she did know was what Combine said over communication devices. Soon, we arrive to “City 45” Tekel’Pakem and her kin met up with others her kind within confides of, “Nexus”; however, we was under constant watch. Eventually, Tekel’Pakem’s kin and herself managed to take moment to speak with others and we learned of Vortigaunt who been killed for fiddling with Combine machinery. It was then that Tekel’Pakem was told of name and she fell into depression for several month as was her kin, the Renar’kek had perished and that when Tekel’Pakem decided to learn the English, where she excelled at the tongue rather swiftly,  the humans use constant. In the midst of Tekel’Pakem’s depression, she been released from holding by unit as they took her out to clean city; it there Tekel’Pakem met the humans as the humans attacked officer before he call for help. The Rita took units instrument of death and the Eric dealt unit great damage with pipe.” Tekel’Pakem ended her story with a sigh.
The humans nodded understandingly as they too peered into the murky waters of the canal. The humming of chopper propellers suddenly grew much louder and swifter, as a helicopter which at first appeared as a dot in the horizon and then began to grow and grow until it was too near for comfort! The trio shot up alarmed, “Run, humans! Run!” hissed Tekel’Pakem as her hooves clopped on the ground from trotting deeper into the darkness of the sewer, The Rita and the Eric following at her heels, they managed to escape, but were certainly not free....

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
+ Can speak Vortigese fluently
+ Can use Vortessence
+ Does know some English

Defects
- Huge target of OTA forces
- Over usage of Vortessence can cause her to faint
- On the run, and tries to avoid contact
- Her English is not at it's best and she refers to herself in third person

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
Become more active in the outlands server than I have been in the past and try to bring as much interesting roleplay into this server as it's population has been dwindling. I hope to lead people who walk the path of IC evil to the path of good and teach them from their errors.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
No.

Which server does this apply for?
Outlands

Extra Notes (optional):
I have done much reading on the Vortigaunt canon since my incident with my Vort slave and now, I truly believe I'm ready. I have asked Lewis to review my backstory before submitting it to make sure it was good enough and he said it was, I even contacted Teh Penguin, though he has not responded, I will tell you what he said when he does check it out. I think I have gotten better, not only have I been looking at the history but I've also carefully been watching how the Vorts in Outlands roleplay and how they speak. I believe I captured this in my backstory as best as I possibly could. Also, incase nobody noticed, I tied Tekel'Pakem's backstory in with Renar'Kek's (my vort slave) so I thought it was a neat touch. If my roleplay skills are in question I can provide multiple people who can confirm them for me, though I would imagine I'd have to be atleast somewhat of a good RPer to have an 01 APEX unit and bother applying for OTA as well as Vort a second time.

IC Chat / Christian Langley's Journal
« on: November 27, 2011, 10:03:41 PM »
Entry 1

I ain’t been more banged up in all my life. My hand writin’ ain’t the prettiest, but I reckon it’ll do, I mean I do got my left hand pretty bruised ‘nd that’s my writin’ hand. Anyways, this is my first entry seein’ as I decided to write what’s been goin’ on lately I might as well start from the beginin’. The name’s Christian Langley, I’m from Gallaway, Tennessee I went on a trip to Amsterdam with my girlfriend of two years, Joice Ann, she used to call me “Felix” when we was kids and the name just kinda stuck, god I loved that woman. Then after some of them portal storms started goin’ off left ‘nd right we hid. Eventually, there was nothin’ but gunfire and explosions, wasn’t pretty. We were forced outta where we’d been hidin’ and had to run for it. Joice…..she didn’t even much make it down the street….took a shot to the back with somethin’…..she…told me to keep on runnin’ ‘fore she closed her eyes for good. I just kept goin’. I eventually got myself caught and shipped to City 18. That place was a grade A shit hole, lemme tell ya’, it was dark all the time, folks there were as thin as a damn stick and that’s bein’ kind ‘bout it; I had finaly got myself there and it ain’t take me long to decide it wasn’t the place for me. Ain’t take me long to make a friend who felt the same way, neither. We got ourselves some supplies from couple places here and there and ‘ventually made our way the hell outta there. Ya’ see, my “friend” who I had made in C18 was a downright bastard, I trusted that son bitch and he tried cutting me loose when we was half way outta the city by tryin’ me to a pipe while we was sleepin’. It’s a good thing Christian don’t trust nobody no more, not after Joice, so I had woke up when he touched by hand to see that fucker with a zip tie tryin’ to tie me to the pipe stickin’ outta the wall and I kicked his ass and left him tied down instead. I ‘member when I was almost outta the city I heard a pistol go off, figured that was him gettin’ what he deserved.
Anyways, I made it here to “outlands” as folks call it and wondered about. I met up with a few folk from other cities like city 11; they’re borin' as fuck lemme tell you. Anyways, it took me weeks but after lookin’ in a random tanker I found a combine sniper, Couldn’t believe my eyes! I took it ‘nd it intimidated the hell outta people, it was awesome. It was ‘round there that I got it taken by an OTA, scariest shit ever to have them right behind you. Funny thing was….he was off….he treated me like a damn civil protection would, just told me to face the wall ‘nd tied me ‘nd took only the sniper. I was freakin’ out but he turned out to be pretty good. He gave me a MP7 with five carts o’ ammo and told me to beat it. I ain’t ask no questions really, just thanked ‘em and went on my way till I met a vort in a lab coat. Strangest shit I ever saw, a vort bein’ first and a vort IN A LAB COAT another. He was called “Hotar”, smartest vort I ever known, he always called me “the Felix” ‘nd at one point me, and another fella’ who I can’t quite remember went to a rock near roadside. Hotar did somethin’ that he made me promise never to tell no one no how, even though he’s…..dead….I don’t plan on breakin’ that promise here.  Skipin’ on a head more recently, I had woken up and started walkin’ ‘bout with my SMG near the OTA base, I was ‘bout to cross to the side with the office buildin’ when I came across this girl with a shotty. I got one too, but it looked like hers had some ammo in it, which kinda worried me cause all I had left in my MP7 was one last clip ‘nd I didn’t wanna go wastin’ it. Luckily for me, she turned out friendly….we talked for ‘bout a good solid minute ‘till somethin’ started scratchin’ at the door and grumblin’. We took aim at the door and we told me to shoot when she opened. She opened and I took aim but there wasn’t nothin’ out there. I walked out to take a look and got tackled by a fast fuckin’ zombie, if that wasn’t bad enough, the bitch with the shotgun closed the door behind me and took off! I kicked it off ‘nd started runnin’ up the street and radioin’ for help but it took me down again and started slashin’ at my back, I guess my screamin’ must’ve made her feel bad cause the girl came right on back and killed it, helpin’ me up. She took me to roadside and we met up with a vort ‘nd a group o’ people, I just went inside and some girl followed me. They were out there talkin’ crap ‘nd fightin’ while I slowly bled to death. The girl inside started talkin’ to me and said I look like her brother or somethin’ right ‘bout the time I started turnin’ pale from blood loss. I fell over and she just ignored me and fuckin’ walked over me! I had to drag myself after her just for the vort to notice me ‘fore I passed out. Long story short, the vort “Vek” patched me up pretty good ‘nd then the girls started touchin’ and feedin’ Vek which was……pretty weird. Then….outta the blue a portal storm came outta no where! We was in roadside at the time and well, it completely wrecked the place and sent me flyin’ into a canal where I crawled into a sewer from there and passed out.
Woke up the next day I think, to wander out of the sewer and find any survivors. Found the same girl who walked over me in roadside with Boone, apparently after I blacked out they found some dead OTA and looted ‘em, lucky bastards. Boone had a elite helmet and the chick who I eventually found out was named “Aadi” or “Sky-Light” as she prefers to be called, god knows why she prefers that fucked up name, kept goin’ to the treatment plant. I ain’t one to hold grudges no matter what so I forgave Aadi. Some weird shit happened including a random antlion exploding and hittin’ me in the face, giving human sex ed to Vek ‘nd finally, an OTA raid. We had Vek with us at the time ‘nd ‘bout three other folk. We heard a radio beep ‘nd we all scattered ‘nd dove behind crates Vek was lost for a sec and didn’t move, they broke open the doors and threw in a flash. They came in and made Vek get on the ground ‘nd kicked the crate I was behind, knocking me out AGAIN! I woke up and kicked the crate off me only to see a unit right in front of me with an AR2 pointed at Vek, he aimed at me and told me to face the wall. I thought I was done for, they were gonna kill me I thought, but apparently one o’ the people we had with us, “McDoughboy” is his last name, ‘least that’s what Aadi says, they took him out and I guess something happened with him that the unit guarding Vek left the room. We were alone, ‘nd there wasn’t no better chance to run. I checked the door to make sure the OTA wasn’t peekin’ and ran for the ladder to run through the back. Waited for Aadi and Vek with my MP7 out just in case; Aadi ran for her life and Vek lingered thinkin’ if he should try to help McDoughboy or not. I….had to convince him to leave ‘em…..there was no other way and so he agreed and we ran.
The End for now…

Vortigaunt outlands refugee

Perks
+ Can speak both Vortigese fluently

Also, regarding the edited backstory, I'm pretty sure the though during the time of C18 we didn't OOCly have Conscripts, I'm pretty sure they were around ICly. Though I'm not sure I think cities has Vort slaves to clean the place up.

*Edited it to fix the backstory and make her english understanding plausable for the amount of time she had been learning, she misses words and does say some wrong in the text on purpose as this is the only way she can speak english. I hope this is satisfactory now.

Name: =ExG= Sexy Frog
RP Name (at time of ban): C45.CONSCRIPT.81014
STEAM ID: STEAM_0:0:31998299

Reason: PK
Length: Charcter ban
Server: City
Banner: DvL.252

Why should you be unbanned?: Due to a console related incident where my vortigaunt was a little too curious for his own good he was taken to the incinerator and burned thus leading to his PK. This is my fault as I should have been more aware of what not to do, but I must admit i was bored and wanted to passive roleplay and started to ICly mess around with the UU console in the spare room, but did not expect 953 to be right behind me and getting me killed. This was litterally my first day playing as my vortigaunt character and I get PK'd due to my lack of understanding and I am only asking for ONE more chance to do it right, and an apeal for this character will never be posted again if another PK happens. Overall, I was getting my bearings...should you decide to deny it, I totally understand as I did screw up. also I was not told by anyone that I could be killed for not knowing much english...

Introductions / A Wild Sexy Frog has Appeared!
« on: September 02, 2011, 09:21:27 PM »
HeLlO, I'm Sexy Frog! I've been on catalyst gaming for a bit now, i've been on both HL2 servers and frankly, i like the outlands one best, the city one is okay though. I started playing like 4-6 weeks ago after my community of choice's server went down, came here and loved it. In the outlands server i use my character "Christian Langley" nickname "Felix" and in C18 is use "Kimberly Shwarts" and i might make a new character there. I've recently taken a re-interest in serious RP ever since Necropolis and have been searching for a replacement ever since it died. I've been RPing a total of 2 years in total, so im pretty experianced and can RP effectivley should the moment call upon it. SO again Hai!  ;D
