« on: July 16, 2012, 04:49:51 PM »
Yeah, just me deciding to give a way my copy of Cogs which I have in steam gifts for a long ass time now.

The reason why this giveaway lasts 2 weeks is because I'm going on vacation in 2 days, and will return right before the giveaway ends.
This way whoever wins won't have to wait for his price so long.

Enjoy!

Creations / Metal Mayhem - Self made indie game by my bro.
« on: June 22, 2012, 09:00:38 AM »
So here, here is a very awesome game made by my brother and a few of his fellow students.
It's an indie game developed for Xbox 360 where you can play together with your friends in this 4 player fight game.
Objective? Simple: Use your robot to destroy other robots using a gun that shoots balls, or melee attacks to push your opponents away or trick them with landmines.

I think this game is going to be quite awesome.

Social Discussion / Trip to New York
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:41:30 AM »
Right, so next saturday (26th of may) I'm going to take a 8 hour flight trip all the way from Europe to New York for the entire week with my family.
Cool huh? It will be my first time in my life actually leaving Europe.
I'm going to stay there for a week, so I'm wondering who of you out there actually have been to New York before, or actually live close to it and can tell me what exactly would be worth it to visit there in the week.
So what is really outstanding and tops anything else that we should see?

Cheers, Nick.

Disclaimer: You might be thinking? "Oh no! He broke the rules! Only pony shit in spam!" Well no, I did not. I made this thread in general discussion exactly because of this rule. This thread does not contain any pony material at all, and to keep it like that, it's in general discussion. This thread is pure about the discussion of bronies in a serious manner. So no flaming, trolling, or spamming any kind of shit!

Where did this hype come from?
Only the god emperor knows... It all started on 4chan where a couple of users discussed about the newly TV show MLP and eventually more and more users began to watch it, and eventually like it which came to the name: Bronie (Bro pony)

Why did this even start?
I wish I could tell... I have no idea why so many people are obsess with this certain show. I mean, aren't there anything else that is just as awesome or even better? Lots of people say MLP is so good because of the animations. Now I have to admit, I've seen a couple of episodes just out of curiosity, and indeed the animations aren't that bad. But seriously? There is nothing special about this TV show. Nothing at all that tops any other TV show. Why is it that so many people love it?
Now I can tell you for sure, and I just KNOW it that at least 90% of all you bronies out there are only liking MLP, because others do. But that is what hypes are. NONE of you ever came to this TV show all by yourself. You've all been dragged into the hype by other people and all think you are cool because you are 'part of the group'.

What makes bronies so different?
Now don't get me wrong here. There is nothing wrong about liking or even loving a certain something that may in this case be a TV show. Everyone likes TV shows. But what makes bronies so different? That ain't hard to tell. Just look around on the internet. Every website, Every forum, Every corner of the junkhole we call the internet. EVERYWHERE you will find this shit people keep on spamming.
So once again: There is nothing wrong with liking or loving a TV show. But why in god sakes do you have to be so overly obsessed with it by putting ponies all over your signature, avatar, websites, forums, youtube, blogs, anything you can think of.
I can only find one obvious reason: Because you think you are cool because you are 'part of the group'. Exactly as I explained before.

The ancestors of bronies.
Of course, 'brony' isn't the first internet hype out there. The previous very popular one were furries.
And to be honest. There isn't much difference between bronies and furries. They are both about animals. People make tons of drawings of them. And uhh.... I can't believe I actually say this: But yes, also TONS of rule 34 drawings. Just like furries.
But the main difference between furries and ponies, is just like any other hype: They come and go. Furries were spammed all over the internet, but now it is getting old, and furries retreated to their own special forums. So, when will brony die out? I personally hope very soon...

'Hates gonna hate'.
Do some people think brony is a form of trolling? We all know that those who don't like MLP (Like me) really dislike seeing MLP pictures anywhere we go. The reason is because this subject is so overly obsessed and overused and the fact that those responsible for posting them purely post them in the manner of trolling those who dislike them. Why? Are they all just a bunch of trolls? Or do they actually have an unknown reason behind it?
As said before: Everyone likes his own things. Including TV shows. So bronies like MLP, while other people like for example South park, Family guy, the Simpsons, or any of those popular animated TV shows. But do you see anyone spamming pictures and thread about South park, Family guy or the Simpsons? Well I know I don't. All I see is pony pony pony pony pony. And that is not because people like them so much. No, it's because it is a god damn hype!

I don't know what more I could add. Anyone else have anything to discuss? Remember to keep it nice. I don't want anyone to spam this thread with either pro-pony, or anti-pony. The general forum rules will prevent this to happen, so anyone breaking this rule will serve consequences.

You may discuss why you either hate or like MLP, and what your reasons are behind your actions regarding the subject. But once again, keep it nice, and keep it 'pony meme picture'-less!

Donation Questions and Trades / GMR2 cash for OCRP cash trade.
« on: April 30, 2012, 01:41:21 PM »
Yeah, simple said.
Do you have GMR2 cash?
Do you want to have OCRP cash?
Then here is a nice offer for you! I am willing to give $2 OCRP for every $1 GMR2 you have to offer!
This means, that if you give me $50.000 in GMR2, you would get $100.000 in OCRP in return!

I think my maximum offer is going to be a million OCRP, but that doesn't mean it has to be everything at once. You can offer a piece of it, and other people can as well.

So, you have space GMR2 cash and you need OCRP cash? Then wait no longer and make a reply in this thread!

Amount of money left for offer:
$1.000.000 OCRP

PS: For this trade, the rules/suggestions from this thread applies. Due to the fact I am admin myself, you can choose to trust me. But you can always find another admin as your middleman. That is all up to you.

Support & Help / Ice texture (vmt/vtf format)
« on: April 25, 2012, 03:42:33 PM »
Ok seriously, my request is very simple: I've been searching the web for HOURS trying to find 1 simple texture that just can't be found anywhere!

I need an ICE texture. I need it for mapping purposes, so that means it can't be some derp map with the texture packed into it. No, I need the texture itself.
If anyone can provide me one, you would do me a LOT of good!

"Woohoo being administrator would be awesome! I get a lot of cool features, people respect me and I can help people with my abilities!"
This is what is going on in all of your minds, am I close? I probably am. But I'm about to change your minds on the roles of administrators the way you think we are, and the way we actually are.

I'm writing this because I'm bored. I'm writing this because I want to give you guys a chance to peek into our minds and see the world trough our eyes. Only then you'll realize that being administrator is a WHOLE lot different then you think.

Features of being administrator.

Being administrator gives you a lot of cool features.
  • You get access to classified information.
  • You get to work in a team of other administrators
  • Players look up to you.
  • You get to use tools to assist players in the community that other people cannot use, such as the godstick, and any other admin command
I probably forgot a lot of things, but that is beside the point.
When you are not an admin, or you just managed to become one, the first things that come up to your mind would be:
"Awesome! I finally got admin! Now I get to use all these awesome features!"
But in reality, it's not awesome at all. I mean, sure it's cool that you can see information that makes your job easier, but what is so cool about that? Why would you be cool if you can see someone's IP address, or anything else that you can come up with.
It's not useful other then doing your job. You are highly restricted to use any of these information for other purposes, because that would get your demoted again.
So in short say: Is it really cool to have limited features? Or is it just considered your piece of tool as you are doing a simple job?

When I become admin, I would do <X>!

Now this is one of the biggest important subjects of being an administrator.
Lots of people think it's easy to be an administrator. A good example of this is from myself.
A long time ago, I was playing on a WoW private server which was quite popular. I was friends with a few of the Game Masters (Admins) back then, and they all complained about annoying work with Tickets.
Tickets were like report messages of people with problems that GMs could handle. I thought: When I ever become GM, I would do every single ticket very fast, and prove myself to be a good GM!

Here, it's exactly the same story with ban requests, appeals, and in-game reports. People think it's such an easy job and promise that they would do them all! But trust me on this, that you won't keep up with this promise after like a week of being admin. You'll realize that it's boring work, takes up a lot of your time, and you don't gain anything with it at all.
But oh no! Don't make those players unhappy! Don't let them think you are a lazy bad admin that doesn't do his job! Keep on working! Do those damn ban requests, appeals, and respond to every single admin request in-game.

Thinking about it, you'll soon realize that you are not someone players look up to. You are seen as a slave, that is doomed to do what people request you, else you are classed as a lazy bad admin that doesn't do his job.
You would be so busy with your job that you have barely any free time left to roleplay yourself. To actually enjoy the servers as a fellow player. (Because you still are a player, just one that has the privilege to assist players that need help.)
And if you finally deal with every situation, you can finally go enjoy your free time... For about 20 seconds.
Nicknero1405 (admin chat): admin to me please!
Oh god, there you have one again.
How many times do you have to explain that people are required to use a proper format to request your help? How the hell are you going to help someone if you don't even know what he needs help with, or where he is.
Specially on OCRP, 80% of the time someone cries out for your help, it's just a player that is stuck in the map. Most of the time, he appears to be right behind you, about 50 feet away. And then he expects you to teleport to him and unstuck him within 5 seconds?
Nicknero1405 (admin chat): admin plx to me! I'm stuck for like 20 minutes now! god damned!1!11
Yep, seconds are minutes now. But at least you know what he wants. But where shall he be? Are you willing to drop everything you were doing, may it either be RP, or running a store, or in the middle of a raid, just so you can teleport to him, unstuck him, and run all the way back to where you were?
Would it be much easier to use observer mode, noclip to him, unstuck him, and automatically teleport back to your old location?
Nicknero1405 (admin chat): Admin, I'm stuck inside a wall near the paint shop.
YESS!!!! Finally someone that knows how to make requests! Now quickly go in observer, free him, and go back. There! Done, within 5 seconds! Everyone happy.
*sigh*... Just wish it was always like this, but you rather get used to it, as expect the first example to be the most used one...

Administrator rules

Yep. The most feared few lines of any administrator.
Did you ever had trouble following the huge list of rules set for OCRP1.5? Then just stop reading here, leave this thread and forget about becoming admin.
Admin rules are there. Ready to be shoved up your ass by any player that likes to loophole.
Break any of these rules, and you can pack your bags for a single ticket off the administrator team for the rest of this community's life.
Honestly, it's not hard to follow these rules. But there are certain people that make it hard. People that go around attempting to screw with you, provoking you to react on such a way that you eventually by accident break the legendary rule 1: "Be nice to everyone. No matter who they are, or what they are doing. No exceptions."
What does this mean? Simple: Act like a sack of dirt that takes any troll, flame and curse upon you, without doing anything back.
Certain people make you mad, and you want to yell at them? Forget it. Dare to say "Shut the fuck up" and you shall be packing bags.
Who cares if the player you said it to is the biggest douchebag ever, and how hard he is being an ass to you. Break rule 1, and you are gone.
You don't have to be admin to try this out. Go ahead, try for yourself. Try to be nice to EVERY SINGLE person you meet for the next 7 days. Would you be able to make it to the end without using any curse word? Yes? Damn liar you are. It's inhuman to not use any curse word for a whole week. You can't help it that you are in a bad mood at times.

So tell me, you still think Administrating is an easy job?

Demands and responsibility.

As admin, you are required to be active.
This wouldn't be a problem for some of you players out there, but that is easier said then done. You are currently enjoying our servers and forum. You have nothing to worry about. You have nothing you have to stay focused to.
As admin, you will no longer enjoy our servers the way you are right now. You are in the servers, doing your job most of the time. You have to worry about every single player in the server. Watch over them, stay in focus and respond to any rule break you see.
All this work, will make you tired. Very tired. Administration requires lots of physically attention and it will change your mood soon enough.
It's not fun to be admin. It's hard work, and you don't get anything in return. You don't get paid, you don't get exclusive stuff. That would be elitism and unfair. After all, you are just a player. A player with privilege. (As I said before.)

You should be happy as a regular player. You get to enjoy all our work. You have nothing to worry about. You have no requirements you need to meet part from following a list of rules that isn't hard as most of them are common sense anyways.
We work very hard, just to make YOU happy. We have less joy in our job, and we have a shitload of requirements we need to meet or else we would lose our job.

So you may think: "What exactly would make me so tired, and bored?"
Well that is easy. As administrator, you are required to know the entire rules list as good as possible. You have to be responsible for admin situations where you have to make a decision. You have to come to a solution when two players are arguing with each other.
The easiest way is to listen to both sides of their story, and find out the truth. This is usually somewhere between both stories, because everyone would change the story so it sounds in their own good.

Lets make a funny example, shall we?
We have two guys, and you as third party. The two guys are neighbours which don't really like each other.
Guy1 finds a bag of trash in his garden. Guy1 thinks Guy2 dropped it there, so he picks it up, and drops it in the garden of Guy2.
Guy2 finds a bag of trash in his garden. Guy2 thinks Guy1 dropped it there, so he picks it up, and drops it in the garden of Guy1.
Wait, don't this end up as an infinite loop? Sure it does. But how would you solve it?
You find the bag of trash. You don't care in what garden it is. You pick it up, and put it in the trash can. There! Problem solved! Guy1 and Guy2 both happy, and you just solved a situation in a responsible and nice way.

So, knowing all this. Be honest now, did you want to be admin here? Did you thought it was cool to be one? After reading this, will you think about it ones more and actually think it's not that cool to be admin at all?
Feel free to reply with your thoughts, ideas and comments about this post.

Cheers, Nicknero1405

Support & Help / SourceSDK - Hammer: Missing content/seeing errors.
« on: December 20, 2011, 02:27:01 AM »
So I'm on my phone so I make this short:
I'm making a map on hammer and I had no issues on source engine 2009 a long time ago.
Now I don't know if this happened after I temprarly replaced my gmod folder with a clean one, or after an engine update. But since some time, I'm seeing lots of errors in hammer while I see the models in gmod just fine.
Example of error models are the table and chair on the GMPTR lobby. (this is the reason why you can walk through them. Because the collide wireframe is not loaded.)

Any idea how to add missing content?

General Discussion / Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword. [NO SPOILERS]
« on: December 02, 2011, 05:55:54 PM »
This game is freaking amazing.
I really love how they build up love/care for Zelda in the begin, and then suddenly shit happens and you have to go find her. This really makes you want to continue playing none-stop until you finally found her.

The only downside of this game is how the world is so very limited to only 1 sky-village, and 3 medium sized areas to descend trough the cloud barrier. But minus that, it's a good game.

What are your opinions?

Do not post spoilers in this thread! People are to tempting to read them even in spoiler tags, so for the sake of those who haven't beat this game yet (Like me) please leave spoilers out of here.

General Discussion / Youtube partnership account.
« on: November 18, 2011, 08:38:48 PM »
Ohai.

To begin, I have a Youtube partnership account.
This means that I can upload videos I made to youtube and allow them to add advertisements to them in return of me earning money each view or click. I already have a few of these videos activated.

Now here is where you come in. Because my actual dream/wish is to become very popular on Youtube with videos a lot of views. So everyone of this community could help me a LOT by simply taking a small amount of your time to watch these videos so now and then. I would update this thread and add more links for you to watch when I have them.
I would love you even more if you subscribed to my channel as well so you can be kept up to date for new uploads automatically.

Support & Help / Battlefield 3 + Record program = problems.
« on: November 18, 2011, 07:29:10 AM »
I run Battlefield 3 perfectly on ultra settings. I do get crashes so now and then but that is rare.
I run Fraps and Camtasia screen recording perfectly fine.

HOWEVER, When I use Fraps to record battlefield 3 gameplay, my game crashes after around 3-5 minutes of recording.
When I use Camtasia screen recording, my ENTIRE COMPUTER crashes after around 5 minutes of recording.

Both programs output is set to D:/ which has over 500GB free space.

So you have a lot of cash on OCRP, HRP or HL2RP? And you would like to be a VIP or Gold Member but don't have real cash to donate?
You can always make a thread in this board that you are looking for a player that is willing to donate for you.
Of course, because this deal involves real money, we want you to follow these simple steps to make sure no one is going to get scammed.

Rules about using ingame cash for something else!
  • You are allowed to offer ingame cash for VIP or Goldmember.
  • You are allowed to offer ingame cash for ingame cash in another CG server.
  • You are NOT allowed to offer ingame cash for real cash.
  • You are NOT allowed to offer ingame cash for items/games not involving Catalyst Gaming (Such as ingame cash for steam games or ingame cash in another community.)

You are not required to, but suggested to follow these steps if you are offering ingame cash for VIP/GM
  • Make a new thread in this board which is clear if you either offer ingame cash for VIP/GM, or otherwise.
  • Make sure to say how much money you are willing to offer for VIP/GM.
  • Found someone that accepts your deal? Add him to your steam friends so you always have communication if something ingame goes wrong.
  • VERY IMPORTANT ONE: Make sure you have an administrator as middleman which holds on to the cash during the trade, and makes sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Let the person who offers the ingame cash give it to the administrator.
  • When the admin confirms he has the money, have the other guy donate via the credit system to set you up as a VIP/GM
  • All done? The administrator will now hand over the cash to the other player after confirming VIP/GM status.
If anything goes wrong during this process, the administrator will do his best to solve the issue.

I hope this helps to whoever wants to do this. Good luck!
