I still wish I could vote for "No serious RP". Because serious RP without drama is soooo 2012.
Oh well, I'm interested to see how this is going to turn out. But if I could bet my money, I'd put it on:
"Whatever vote is going to win, it is going to have a lot of drama because most people wouldn't agree on most things and it will go down the drain soon enough."
Try voting on OCRP or HRP and stay on them? You know, the other options; you're not obliged to vote nor to take-part in the result of the vote. If serious RP is a problem for you, avoid it. Don't go on, to then complain, nor should you take a vital role then never go on, without first resigning. Stay away if you don't like it. Stay away if you don't want it. Treat it like a phobia and you'll be happier for it.
We should also change from the undemocratic vote of FPTP to a PR style system; more votes, because if Prison RP fails, my stakes would go into Medieval, however under the current system, Metro or some shit will take its place
What exactly are you talking about in the entirety of your post. You put worths in my mouth I never said, and like Abbott said, you DO take everything out of context. This isn't about me. This is about the whole community.
Do you honestly truly believe that any other attempt at "serious RP" you guys are trying to struggle towards, won't just drop straight down on the ground? Just look at this whole thread. You only have to drop the word "Serious RP" and all hell breaks lose.
CG's playerbase exists mostly out of roleplayers, and that is the whole problem.
People are to damn focused on our current playerbase (which always seem to fail regardless) that you all forget that there is more in this world than RP...
Maybe, if maybe you all just care just as much as I do about RP (aka not) and actually think of OTHER gamemodes to host. Then maybe we can finally get CG to have a more variated playerbase, with more variated servers. More players, more fun, more community.
And don't even try to pull the "Lol but all other servers we tried died within a week like TTT or Minecraft or <Input random gamemode>" Because who cares? I'd rather see us having more variation in our servers to pull in more players than sticking with that fucking "roleplay".
So here is the best idea ever: Put up variated servers. And DON'T drop them only because they are empty for a while. Even if the server is occupied an hour a week, it's still better than nothing.
TLDR: Fuck roleplay.
I'm done here. This time, I will sit on the sidelines and laugh my ass off when shit is going to hit the fan again. Peace.
We already had a thread discussing this. This thread is not about debating the feasibility of another CG serious RP server, but what it would be. Your opinions are irrelevant and unrelated to the subject of this thread. As you can see in the poll results, there is still a community of several dozen people who still want to see a serious RP server here. I just noticed there was a Hunger Games option. Why was it sneaked in? I can't see any posts about it, that's just silly.
How about we'd take 5 most winning options and make another poll with them, then make another with three winning options as originally intended?

Keep in mind, ya know, the limitations and the scripts of GMOD, so to get something that 'wasn't as unique as we thought it was' will be taxing to say the least, it's a bit like comparing DnD campaigns, the system will be the same, but the campaign itself is what makes it great.
As for 'Just don't cry about it when/if it turns out it wasn't as unique as you thought it was.' it gives no degree to uniqueness nor deviation of uniqueness. For instance
I expect PrisonRP to be 124U (U means unique  ) Even if it was 123U, it wouldn't be as unique as I thought it was, even if the deviation is marginal. However, knowing CG, even if there was similarity between HL2RP and PrisonRP, even if we had new EVERYTHING, the old formula will arise —
The A just like CPs!
The B is just like the Combine!
The C are just like citizens in the slums!
The D are just loyalists!
Et cetera.
Comparatives can and always will be made and more often than not.
My reasoning, though, is that the two are way too similar with an oppressed majority treated as nothing more than human resources, a class of soldiers who are encouraged ICly to power trip, and an oligarchy of administrators whose job is to represent all of them. Of course, I may be missing something, so feel free to explain to me how Medieval RP could provide a different experience from HL2RP.

How would a Fantasy RP not work out? In all honesty, Medieval RP could turn out just like HL2RP in a different setting: - Peasants take the place of citizens.
- Town watch takes the place of CPs.
- Knights take the place of OTA.
- And nobles are the new CAs.
At least with Fantasy RP, there's a bit more social justice going on.

I think it would be good but there has got be more to get people to RP. There could be events such as a resonance cascade or something. Sadly, I don't think it would get the votes.
Unless you want to rape canon, a resonance cascade would end up destroying the facility. On top of that, you'd basically have a JW scenario where citizens/scientists cower in locked rooms while the CPs/security guards shoot at NPCs.

This is exactly my point. Not once in this thread have I seen people give baseless arguments along the lines of "X sucks, vote Y". At the very least, I've seen "X sucks because blah" and that's a perfectly acceptable response.

this isn't politics, you shouldn't be shitting on the other gamemodes, but instead promoting your own
You have to understand that for some people the future of our serious RP server is very important. This is something that we are going to be devoting hours, days, even weeks setting up; no one wants all that hard work to go down the drain as it has the last few times. We need to choose a unique and fun universe and the choice needs to be very careful. That is why debate is so important. If you didn't want people stating their opinions, then you should have locked the thread on the first post. Then again, if you DID go through and do that, I'm sure that Adam's argument that you and everyone else involved in the project is part of an elitist cabal would have gained some validity. In short, grow a thicker skin and let people state their opinions. If you are as dedicated to seeing serious RP live again here in CG as you say you are, then you should be willing to deal with the relatively small amount of criticism you're receiving.

Consider it an official lore. Typically, canon serves as a guideline for RPs and fan fictions. To say that an RP or fan fiction rapes canon would be to say that there is nothing in the lore that supports what you say. An example would be like saying you're a relative of Gordon Freeman when no mention of his family is made in any of the games.

What abbott said. The only other way to boost fps is fine tune your graphics card with a program such as Nvidia Inspector. I did it for FSX and boosted fps by 250% but that's more because of the games old setting.
How hard do you think it would be to use that for my computer?
Would I be wrong in thinking that it would only work with Nvidia GPUs?

So which ones will be "legal" and "illegal" besides the AK and the RPG going to the "illegal" side?
Going by the American gun laws, everything that isn't automatic or military-grade. If this is true, legal weapons would include: Bayonet Blade Colt 1911 Ka-Bar Knife L42A1 Benelli M4 Super 90 Makarov SKS Dragunov SVD may also be legal considering I've seen more than a few online and in gun stores, but it could always be kept as a BMD weapon as it is a considerable upgrade over the L42A1. EDIT: Also, something else that came into my head just now: What if we split the "illegal" weapons into two groups. The "black market" weapons (Weapons that only a BMD can spawn) would include the AK-47, FN FAL, RPG, RPK, and Dragunov. The "Coast Guard" weapons (Weapons that only a CG Commander can spawn) would include the M14, M16A4, M249, and RGD-5. Thoughts?
