Tyrex pointed this out, but he was ignored. The fucked up poll that was created by Top Hat broke a cardinal rule of polling, which is that you don't let people view results before voting. While you could not see results before voting, you could change your vote. This has the same effect as letting people view results before voting. It is psychologically and statistically proven that the knowledge of results at the time of voting unfairly influences and skews poll results. This is why, for instance, it is illegal in many countries for news agencies to release exit polls during elections before the polls result.
You could argue that the final poll, where you couldn't change your vote, is still valid, but the options for those derived from the first poll. The skew caused by this mistake could have been enough to change the options on the final poll, since some options only won by a vote or two.
Also, as some people including Statua did not even previously realize, HL2RP City was conveniently left off the poll, assumed to be a failure despite the downfall of HL2RP last time simply having been an untimely mapchange and a number of attacks.

Konstantyn Nowak was born on a snowy day in the winter of 1984 to two political dissidents of whom there is not and shall not ever be a record of. Left without parents after them having been arrested by Polish communists and sent to Siberian gulags to never return, Kosta was raised by his grandfather, a Second World War veteran of the Polish Government-in-Exile. Kosta was intelligent as a child, but his grandfather refused the prospect of public education, and therefore Kosta remained largely uneducated until he was eleven or twelve when he decided that he would start studying Polish history and military tactics by himself. His grandfather vehemently disapproved.
The death, or rather disappearance, of his parents led to Kosta becoming largely independent, but also lacking in the necessary teachings of parents early in childhood. His grandfather had taught him of vengeance and anti-Nazism, as well as anti-communism. But Kosta's study of great Polish artists like composer Frederic Chopin led to him embracing the concept of peaceful resistance against government. Often, these differences in opinion led to heated arguments between Kosta and his grandfather, but more often arguments within himself.
In his studies, Konstantyn took great interests in the acts of the Israeli Mossad in hunting down Nazi war criminals. His grandfather had strong opinions against the idea that Mossad captured these "monsters" and put them on trial. He believed they should all be lined up and shot. Kosta, however, believed in the due process of the law.

“Dziadzia! Dziadzia, come here!” The young child yelled with a voice of glee and a fervor for inquiry.
“What!?” an old man grumbled, “What is it?” The old man hobbled into the room, angry from all the yelling. He stopped in his tracks at the sight of his grandson wearing a cold helmet that ate the child’s head.
Seeing the pain, and the fear, and the anger in his grandfather’s eyes, Konstantyn asked, “What’s wrong, Dziadek? Did I do something wrong?”
“No, no. You did nothing wrong, my little Kosta,” he replied. He slowly limped over to the chair in the corner and pulled Kosta up onto his lap, and said in a calm voice, “Would you like to hear a story?”
“A story?” Kostantyn was giddied by the prospect. “Yes, yes please, Dziadzia!”
The old man coughed and began speaking, “The year is 1943. The Second World War has set in, and your old Dziadek is a young, inspired officer in charge of operatives working in the Polish Government-in-Exile. See, these talented young men were spies, Kosta. But they didn’t wear tight, black suits, they didn’t fall in love with beautiful Russian women, and happy endings never existed. They wore plain, torn clothes and all of the men around them in the cities of our glorious Polish fatherland wanted to kill them. Why? Why, would they want to kill carriers of the Polish banner? Because these operatives, Kosta, knew the truth. They knew that Adolf Hitler was a puppet, and Heinrich Himmler a fraud. I am getting off track, though. There was a traitor in Wroclaw, working for the Nazis and lying to the Government-in-Exile. We sent in a task force. They all died. Kosta, do you understand what I am saying?”
The child look up at his grandfather, “I don’t know, Dziadek. What did you do?”
“Well, young Kosta, I learned a good lesson that day. If you want something done, you have to do it yourself. Many years later, in the 1950s, a fired a bullet through that Nazi scum’s head. Bam! Bam! Bam,” the old man yelled. Kosta began crying and ran into the other room.
“Kosta! I didn’t mean to scare you, my grandson!” Dziadzia laughed.

Konstantyn's grandfather had goals of grandeur for his grandson, wanting for him to become the next vigilante hunting down Nazi war criminals. Throughout the early teenage years of Kosta's life, Dziadzia constantly and vehemently attempted to indoctrinate him into the ways of anti-Nazi Poles; he never gave in. Then one day, Dziadek sat Kosta down and told him about all his relatives killed in the Nazi death camps. He showed him pictures, and told him great stories of heroism, and stories of grand cowardice among the Nazi killers. From this day on, Kosta was set to hunt down Nazis. But he was only a kid, with no skill...

An older man stood in the sunlight smoking a pipe, and wearing the garb of avid golf. He held a rifle on his back with a sling. To finish off the interesting fashion statement, he wore black aviator sunglasses.
To the man’s right was a teenager, about fifteen, wearing an American t-shirt, jeans, and an old, Polish helmet. Further down the field they stood in was a bulls-eye shooting target. Gramps stepped forward and unslung the rifle and handed it to Konstantyn.
“Are you ready for your lesson, Konstantyn?” Gramps asked with a raspy voice. Without Konstantyn having said anything, Gramps continued: “Welcome to your firearm training session. The rifle that you are holding in an entirely unsafe and stupid manner right now is a Polish reproduction of a Mauser 98 rifle,” he said and then held up an item. “This is a stripper clip,” he laughed as he threw it on the ground. “Don’t use these. With weapons these old, the stripper clip functions fail all the time. In that ridiculous fanny pack, you will find twenty cartridges for this rifle. Hold the weapon up, properly, and load five catridges…”
Konstantyn held the rifle up, stood firmly, and then struggled for the next five minutes with the bolt.
“We’re going to be here for a long time,” exclaimed Gramps.
Spoiler for Part III:
Over the next few months, Dziadek spent day and night teaching Konstantyn how to fire and maintain a rifle. It was a test of everyone's patience, but one day, Kosta was an okay rifleman. His grandfather was very proud, but disappointment was bound to come. Having been set on Kosta being a Nazi hunter, Dziadzia insisted he learn how to hunt and track. Until this point, Kosta had only learned how to shoot an inanimate target.
However, after years of practice, Konstantyn was a skilled hunter and he was able to track.
Dziadzia died soon after. Kosta took his uniform and all of his gear from the Second World War and set out on a mission.

After the takeover of the Combine, Kosta stayed in the home deep in the forest that once belonged to his grandfather. He had with him the skill, the journals, and the tools and uniform of his grandfather. The Combine oppression had given rise to neo-Nazis, and Kosta vowed to find them, and change them or kill them. It was a rather simple task, and he felt it had to be done.

A tall man wearing a green uniform stood over a footprint in the mud. He crouched down, and inspected it carefully. He sighed in discomfort, and pulled out his compass to reset his bearings. He figured he must be somewhere near Romania, and his elevation was high. He jumped down from the short peak he was on, and onto a decimated road. He slowly, in a stately manner, walked down the road and found a road sign labelled "Belle." Past it was a long winding road, leading to what looked like a small town. Kosta made the hike up the road, and eventually reached an inn. Inside, he met a man with whom he had a long discussion regarding a conspicuous man in a black uniform. Once he had heard enough, he abruptly ended the conversation and began to walk away. The old man begged him for food, and continued bothering him. The man no longer breathes.
Today, Kosta roams the forests and the plains in search of those with whom he is in an eternal feud with. He is the hunter of the Outlands.
What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects? Perks Authority - The uniform displays an aura of authority as someone who should be both trusted and inspected carefully.
Skills - Kosta's training in hunting allows him to find and conquer his enemies.
Defence - The sabre allows for Kosta to defend himself.

Defects Target - A foreign uniform in a foreign land makes Kosta a target, and those who he is chasing will know he is there.

What is Table Talk? How dare a new board appear while I was masturbating furiously in bed! It has come to the attention of myself and others that there are some of you who are intellectual and then there are the pseudo-intellectuals. This is where we sift out the rotten from the rest. Table Talk is intended to be a board for casual discussion and debate about literally anything imaginable. Hopefully, this board will inspire people to think, and create an intellectual sect of Catalyst Gaming. Despite being an administrator, I don't particularly believe in rules, but rather guidelines. I have laid out some guidelines for you below:
Stay civilized. You are permitted to write as crassly, sarcastically, and devoid of refinement as you please, but if you choose to draw targets in your arguments, target one's ideas, not the person himself.
Use the fullest extent of BBCode to stylize your arguments in order to make posts as easy to read as possible. No one wants to read a block of text.
You are not required to cite your sources, but if asked to provide one, you should be prepared. It's also helpful and adds to your argument to use quotations, graphics, and videos, though you shouldn't make them the base of your argument.
Avoid fulfilling Godwin's Law; unless you are directly discussing Hitler and Nazi Germany, your argument is immediately invalid if you draw any parallels between the actions of leaders or individuals and the actions of Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Eichmann, the Schutzstaffel, the Wehrmacht, the Nazi Party, or any other thing related to Nazism.

While I would like to allow for discussion of anything, there are some topics that must be avoided. I will provide reasons for their exclusion from Table Talk discussion.
Abortion Any debate on abortion is simply a feud between those who support or condone abortion and those who do not. Neither side will ever change their views, as their views are deeply routed in religious conviction; that is, religious conservatives over- -whelmingly do not support abortion and those who condone abortion religiously believe that religion has no place in political decisions.
Circumcision and Other Topics With an Even Divide Debates about circumcision come down to the circumcised people saying it is alright and the uncircumcised people saying it isn't. Inherently, you will prefer whatever you are. Feel free to bring up circumcision as a point in religious debate, but not as a topic itself. Likewise, other topics where there is an even division among people, and one will choose what they are should be avoided.
Political Ideologies in Their Entirety It is rather useless to debate and attack a political ideology because the ideologues and counter-ideologues will all simply stand their ground; minds won't be changed. Rather, debate specific practices or policies of a political ideology, or debate qualities of certain ideologues and leaders and how such qualities can be attributed with their political ideology.
Any Topic in its Entirety Discussing any topic in its entirety will usually lead to it being focused down to one point of the topic, but which point? Be specific in what you make a topic for debate.
Anything Unimportant! If it doesn't matter, it isn't worth debating.
When starting a topic for debate, give a little bit of a brief summary of the topic in an unbiased manner, and then provide your first argument below. Other than that, I believe the standards for discussion will set themselves. I wish for this to remain casual, and this thread is probably as serious as you'll ever see it.

This is an edited version of the post I made last year.
Today is Monday September 11th, 2012. As we all know, today marks eleven years since 9/11 when three Boeing 757s and one Boeing 767 were hijacked. American Airlines Flight 11 was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 AM that morning. All of America and many people around the world watched as United Airlines Flight 175 hit the South Tower. They stood, shocked, in their living rooms around family, or around colleagues at work. Everything was at a stand-still, and people waited for answers. And then at 9:37 AM the Pentagon was hit by American Airlines Flight 77.
Members of the New York Fire Department stood in awe as the towers collapsed. And then the news came in: United Airlines Flight 93 had crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. People were confused, but it was soon evident that the brave passengers, heroes who wear no uniform, on that plane organized a plan within the frame of thirty minutes. They called their loved ones, and said their final goodbyes. They charged the cockpit. In an act of desperation, the hijacker piloting the plane plunged the aircraft into a field. The plane was obliterated on impact.
The next day, Americans took on a new attitude. Anger flowed throughout their veins, and revenge was on the tip of their tongues. All Americans knew we would never forget this attack on the United States. But as prepared as Americans were to get revenge, it wasn't easy. Our enemy was not clear, and they represent no national flag. Americans would soon know al-Qaeda was responsible.
Today we should not become angry, but rather, we should remember and honor the lives of innocent civilians and those who died so others could live. And while we shall never forget September 11th, 2001, we should never allow for our anger to cloud our judgement, and we should only honor the lives lost that tragic day.
I call upon you to do whatever you may please to honor the lives lost on September 11th, 2001.
It is I, Nikolai, returning for a second act in this vaudeville house. I'd imagine some of you probably remember me, but for those who don't I am Nikolai, former HL2RPer and administrator at one point or another. I've decided to return, or rather come out of hiding, but I'm not quite sure what I want to do here. We will see.
1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so. My character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority in order to better himself as a human being. In his past life, before the Union takeover, he was involved in criminal activity, and often did harm to others. He feels remorseful and regretful of those actions, and wishes to do right. Thompson is a deeply religious person, and wishes to do right with humanity before his judgement day.
Thompson feels that the only hope for humanity surviving is via protection from the Combine Civil Authority. It could be said that he is ignorant to the hurt that the Universal Union is forcing upon humankind. And in aspects where he is not ignorant of this, he believes that there is evil far worse than the Universal Union, and that the protection the Union provides prevents such evils from doing harm upon humanity.
As previously mentioned, Thompson is religious. He believes it is his destiny, endowed upon him by God, to join the Combine Civil Authority and protect his fellow humans, and the Union. He wishes to combat rebellious characters as he believes they are workers of Satan.
For all these reasons, Thompson wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority.

Well, speaking from previous experience, I know the Combine Civil Authority will be for me, from an out-of-character experience, boring at first. But once I do get past the recruit program, I intend on embarking upon different routes from those of my previous CCA characters, and hope that this will serve as a learning experience. Of course, it'd be extremely nice to eventually surpass the progress of my previous characters, one of whom was in Apex High Command.

He will slowly lose his religious affiliation, and rather than focus on serving God, will soon focus on serving the Universal Union. Thompson Grey was born in the City of Sheffield in the province of South Yorkshire in Northern England, on January 15th, 1985 to two poor parents, the father of which was a factory worker. As a young boy, there were signs that Thompson had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Generally, Thompson was obsessive over self-cleanliness and often performed daily routines as according to the number four. When he started schooling, his abnormal behavior made him the target of bullying from students, and mistreatment from instructors. In elementary school, he was placed in classes that were meant for those with autism and related disorders, even though he had very high test grades. His parents fought for him, and by grade six, he was being placed in advanced classes. But it wasn't all sound for him now that he had been placed in those classes. Now he had to deal with being bullied for being a 'nerd.' Throughout high school, Thompson had many suicidal thoughts.
After graduating high school, Thompson went to work at the same factory that his late father had worked at most of his life. Thompson could not stand the word, and his boss couldn't stand the interruptions in word caused by Thompson's obsession with the number four. Many a time, a six pack of soda cans would come down the line with only four, or four of the six packs would be stacked perfectly. He would often leave the line to go wash his hands - sometimes even fifteen times a day. Thompson was well aware he was on the brink of being fired. Late on Monday night, Thompson snuck into the factory with a Webley revolver. The boss was still in his office. Thompson entered, and held the boss at gunpoint while he robbed him of five thousand pounds. He then shot and killed the boss who had many a time delivered diatribe to Thompson. Thompson later cleaned his gun, and hid the money carefully. Luckily, he was never caught, mainly due to a lack of investigative ability in the detectives assigned to the case. But Thompson had started a streak of crime.
At the age of twenty-four, Thompson got involved in a local gang. He soon rose through the ranks, and served as internal affairs to the gang. He often had to kill members - four at a time. Once again, though, Thompson came close to killing himself, for he had great remorse after killing members, even though it was his job. A year after joining the gang, Thompson left and became affiliated with an Eastern Orthodox church in Sheffield. There, he received religious education and confessed to many of his sins.
During the Seven Hour War, his church welcomed the Universal Union, commending them as being the saviors of humanity sent from the embodiment of Jesus Christ. Thompson Grey was soon transferred to City 45, where he remained loyal to his religion, and the Universal Union.

7. What�s your most memorable quality RP experience? One roleplay experience that always seems to stay in my mind, was that of Hayden MacMillan here at CG. Hayden MacMillan was an authorized nuclear engineer and physicist in search of uranium and plutonium in order to power his Combine technology jamming device. The experience I remember most, was one day when he came across a female in City 8 who would later become a friend. Hayden walked into a local shop, where a female, who labeled herself as being rebellious, was. Hayden hit it off so to speak, and had a decent conversation with her, and they got to know each other. This roleplay experience always sticks in my mind, because it's the kind I prefer. It wasn't superfluous or over-glamorous. It was simply two capable roleplayers having an in-character discussion.

As a young boy, there were signs that Thompson had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Generally, Thompson was obsessive over self-cleanliness and often performed daily routines as according to the number four. When he started schooling, his abnormal behavior made him the target of bullying from students, and mistreatment from instructors. In elementary school, he was placed in classes that were meant for those with autism and related disorders, even though he had very high test grades. His parents fought for him, and by grade six, he was being placed in advanced classes. But it wasn't all sound for him now that he had been placed in those classes. Now he had to deal with being bullied for being a 'nerd.' Throughout high school, Thompson had many suicidal thoughts.
After graduating high school, Thompson went to work at the same factory that his late father had worked at most of his life. Thompson could not stand the word, and his boss couldn't stand the interruptions in word caused by Thompson's obsession with the number four. Many a time, a six pack of soda cans would come down the line with only four, or four of the six packs would be stacked perfectly. He would often leave the line to go wash his hands - sometimes even fifteen times a day. Thompson was well aware he was on the brink of being fired. Late on Monday night, Thompson snuck into the factory with a Webley revolver. The boss was still in his office. Thompson entered, and held the boss at gunpoint while he robbed him of five thousand pounds. He then shot and killed the boss who had many a time delivered diatribe to Thompson. Thompson later cleaned his gun, and hid the money carefully. Luckily, he was never caught, mainly due to a lack of investigative ability in the detectives assigned to the case. But Thompson had started a streak of crime.
At the age of twenty-four, Thompson got involved in a local gang. He soon rose through the ranks, and served as internal affairs to the gang. He often had to kill members - four at a time. Once again, though, Thompson came close to killing himself, for he had great remorse after killing members, even though it was his job. A year after joining the gang, Thompson left and became affiliated with an Eastern Orthodox church in Sheffield. There, he received religious education and confessed to many of his sins.
During the Seven Hour War, his church welcomed the Universal Union, commending them as being the saviors of humanity sent from the embodiment of Jesus Christ. Thompson Grey was soon transferred to City 45, where he remained loyal to his religion, and the Universal Union.

7. What�s your most memorable quality RP experience? One roleplay experience that always seems to stay in my mind, was that of Hayden MacMillan here at CG. Hayden MacMillan was an authorized nuclear engineer and physicist in search of uranium and plutonium in order to power his Combine technology jamming device. The experience I remember most, was one day when he came across a female in City 8 who would later become a friend. Hayden walked into a local shop, where a female, who labeled herself as being rebellious, was. Hayden hit it off so to speak, and had a decent conversation with her, and they got to know each other. This roleplay experience always sticks in my mind, because it's the kind I prefer. It wasn't superfluous or over-glamorous. It was simply two capable roleplayers having an in-character discussion.
