Social Discussion / New Kitten!
« on: October 09, 2011, 03:34:41 PM »
Alright, I got a new kitten, and I named him Ezio. By the way, he lives up to his name too. He pretty much runs around like a fucking ninja, and is pimp. I will post some images and vids of him soon. He's so sick. He pretty much goes ape on anything that pretty much comes in his path, even though he is a small little ninja.

314.URB-LOC.0017-Advisor

314 URB-LOC 0017 was one of several Advisors stored within the Citadel prior to its destruction. The numerical name on the pod appears to have something to do with the location of the the Advisor, as URB-LOC 0017 almost certainly refers to "Urban Location 0017", AKA, City 17. Like all Advisors, 314 URB-LOC 0017 has powerful telepathic and presumably telekinetic abilities. In response to Alyx's unwanted examination, it uses a telepathic attack that causes both Gordon and Alyx immense pain, as well as distorting their vision. The attack doesn't do any actual damage, but persists as long as Gordon and Alyx remain in the room. Alyx has to catch her breath afterward. Let's describe some advisor attire. The Advisors are large, pale, grub-like creatures with no discernible facial features, save a gas mask-like device attached to their front end as well as a cybernetic eyepiece on the left-hand side of their "face". Advisors possess a long, prehensile proboscis, which they use to feed. They do this to humans by plunging the proboscis deep into the back of the neck. Exactly what they feed on from humans is unknown, though given the position it is most likely blood or spinal fluid.
Each Advisor wears a skintight olive-green body suit that covers all but both ends of their bodies, with a collar around their "necks" adorned with golden glyphs. Some Advisors also have a pair of spindly black robotic arms strapped to their back that are capable of grabbing and lifting an adult human. In Episode Two, Advisors are seen grabbing humans, both living and dead, and plunging the proboscis deep into the back of their necks. As 314, most advisors are placed in advisor pods. The Advisor pods are large white synth ships the size of phone booths, capable of controlled flight and marked with a registration number printed on the side (for example, 314 URB-LOC 0017, possibly standing for "Advisor number 314, Urban Location Number 17"). The inside is lined with cushioned walls and contains a "blanket" for the Advisors to be wrapped in, most likely some form of life support and/or protection from shock. They are first seen in Episode One where Gordon and Alyx watch as a pod is transported up through the Citadel with an Advisor tucked inside. In Episode One, many Pods can be seen fleeing from the Citadel just before it explodes. In Episode Two, an Advisor Pod can be seen being transported along with a battalion of Combine soldiers and Striders. If the pod is not hovering in air, it would be placed onto a advisor platform.

Media / Half-Life 1-2 OST
« on: September 16, 2011, 09:05:20 AM »
I grew up playing Half-Life because of my brother. My brother ordered the issue of some magazine that came with the Demo. I was hooked. So I waited then forgot about it but when it came out I was in love. So then Hl2 came out some time after and the music of these games we're a huge part of my childhood. Music from games or just heavy orchestral music sometimes makes me tear up. I was on the floor crying when they told me skyrim was coming out (VGA or Video Game Awards). Yeah I'm a nerd. When the Skyrim trailer came out I was about to f*ck my PC. Anyways back on topic. The half-life music is what got me into electronic music. Links below.

IC Chat / A small book, sitting beside a little printer.
« on: September 14, 2011, 10:16:00 PM »
You find a book lying on a desk, beside a printer. It is all silent except for a man lying beside the desk. You pick up the book and start reading as you see the man is asleep.

Well... Umm. Hi I guess. I just found myself sitting around waiting for some things to finish up. I recently found a little portable radio. It was quite interesting. The only reason I would use it is if I had a frequency to use it with, so for now I'm letting it sit to the side. I think if I can get something like an old solar panel from a calculator or something like that. I've never been into rewiring and fiddling with trinkets but I do have my knoweledge of programming and I am quite adaptive. *yawns* Well I better get some sleep. But before I leave I should probably talk about the vortagaunt I met. His name was Vek-... Heh, I forget the rest! Well I better get some sleep. Good night. *locks the doors and lies down*

Social Discussion / *sigh*
« on: September 14, 2011, 05:02:36 PM »
Well here is my story. (for today)

I went to school got really bored came home finished homework hoped on Outlands. Then got flamed by the same people because they we're on the server (they make fun of me on steam) then got off the server because of this. I just thought that I could come home and socialize with the community. But, I cannot. I guess I should just become stronger and deal with them. But I think ghost hates me because of them. Sigh.

Shit stinks.

Does humanity own the deed to the planet we know as Earth?...
Is it that they want to save us, or the world itself from us?...

No one would have believed in the last years of the earths peaceful days that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the older worlds of space as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be other men upon Mars, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twentieth century came the great disillusionment

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Map suggestion.
« on: August 13, 2011, 01:54:44 PM »
Well earlier today I was thinking, what if there was another part of the city... Besides D2?
Then my thoughts mutated more and more until I came up with this amazing Idea. What if,
there was a train that lead to another part of the city, but the other part is actually almost
like a jail. Nova Prospekt-ish. Basicly the trains would be bigger and the ride longer then last
maps train. Once you got to the other city, you can't go back unless authorized.  It's kind
of like a detainment. In this other part it would be very small (with scenery in the Background
to make it look bigger) maybe the size of plaza, with a few house like jail cells we're you
would stay. This probably would also prevent a lot of people from dying of boredom in detainment.

I decided to post this here.

Samuel Shiffer grew up with parents of crime. It wasn't everyday he would come to a breakfast table with some sort of drug on his table. Life was tough, and not everyone cared for him. Sometimes his parents wouldn't have enough money for there own house and end up on the streets, eating anything they could find or salvage. Growing up he would witness multiple drug deals and scenarios. Learning from his parent he learned how to deal with pressure and quick decisions. Growing up in the ghetto, he had to attend elementry school. He would achieve flawless grades, surpassing every student in the class. Even though his remarkable grades would amaze teachers, his parents still found no interest in there own son. Every, he didn't exist. People didn't even bother to learn his name. No one cared, no one bothered. He didn't care either, the only thing he would really do during school is work, and during breaks was work. Finishing homework ahead of time, he would be chapters ahead of his fellow students some points in the years.
Half way through middle school, Sam's parents started to grow bigger in the drug buisness, although now, they we're getting careless. Sam could tell something bad would happen. You can't just run around the streets with $10,000 worth of cocaine in your trunk can you? Later on that year someone had ratted the family out. A swat raid had been issued on the house. With Sam in it. The Swat did not know a child was in the house, and they we're told they had to use lethal force, only because of the weapons they had stored in the house. Storming in through the house, shouting to get in sight of the swat or they would open fire, the swat had counted down to three. The shots we're fired and in a attempt to run, Sam's father pushed him into the swarm of bullets darting across the room. Just missing him the swat pulled him to safety while immobalizing the father and killing the mother. Sam never saw his parents since.
Because of these events, through middle school he would be pulled out of his classes and sent to see a therapist. Of course he was also transfered to a orphanage. Life was much better there. Although no one really ever noticed him, there was something he didn't feel that he felt with his parents, this was a good thing. Sam was still highest grade of all his classes. This talent for knowledge would never be put to use. Teachers suggested the math team, but he always declined. Everything his teachers offered him he would just decline. Sam's therapist became somewhat of a mentor. His mentor worried about him though, he thought the boy had a sad life, yet he didn't even care.
By high school, he signed up for as many classes as he could, not caring, not even taking stress. He never really had to worry about this thing called "Social life". It was alien to him as he was to it. Although his life was not the greatest and very hard to cooperate with, he didn't know how to apply stress to himself. Again this thing was alien to him. He didn't really have to worry anymore because he didn't know what worrying was! Although being very quiet and helpful around the school, the teachers felt bad. They felt like he was acting like a slave to all the work he had done for them. He started getting honor role and other Acedemic rewards but it just didn't matter for him. Although most people who thought of Sam (the very little amount) knew him as a overly kind person, what they didn't know, nor himself, had a dark side unknown to everyone. By the last year in highschool, he started getting into fights, and he never lost one. Joining the sports teams, he thought of this as something to do after finishing all everything else he had to do. Again, he was gifted at something he never bothered to try at. Bringing his school teams to the top, no one still noticed him, and that was the way he liked it. He didn't like being seen or heard.
Once sam hit the age of 17 he left the orphanage for law school. He wanted to become a lawyer. He grew strong in his late teens, hoping to make the world a better place for everyone. In collage he grew stronger. His life was at it's best, high on life he would say. Everyone in the world he knew would agree that this infact was his muse, this meant a lot for him. In law school for three years he met with another person. This person became his brother he never had. Sam and his new found friend Moe, agreed once out of law school they would start a lawyer franchise. But a two years into law school Moe was killed in a gang drive-by. Sam swore he would change the world for Moe.
Out of law school he became a lawyer. Even though he promised Moe that he would change everyone, he felt to week. No franchise just himself. Life became more miserable for Sam. He felt life was like a routine now. One rich white man after the other blaming some criminal of something stupid. Or some company in debt he had to deal with. It wasn't the amazing life he wanted. He then went into depression and no longer a lawyer.
When the portal storms and the seven hour war actually occured, Samuel had no clue what was happening. And onslaught on Earth? Why? Who? What? Where? The streets we're empty, and everywhere was a ghost town until he had been transfered to City 18. Realizing the good this mysterious force known as the "Combine" had done for us, Sam thought that this is what he was going to do to keep the promise he had made for Moe. He knew that what the Combine we're doing was for the greated good of the entire world. All that had happened in his life, his parents, his job, Moe, this would be the chance to try and fix the world... Once and for all.

OOC Section

OOC Name: Thunderbluff

IC Character Name: Sam Shiffer

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Sam Shiffer is a very loyal person who always sticks to his word. He tries to be as honest as he can by taking all responsibility to his actions. Also most of his actions and other traits would make him pure. He is always trying to be busy or taking orders from someone else.  Sam Shiffer has determination all the time, it's in his blood. He won't stop till he is dead, and even then some more.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character?
I excpect a lot of responsibility to be put onto my shoulders. Risking my life for loyal citizens and put up against dangerous odds. I assume that many will expect a lot of me at first, and need me to do more then I can handle, and I accept this. There will also probably be a lot of people rellying on me to get the job done. I assume that the pressure that will be put on me will seem a bit difficult to handle at first, but I think I will be able to handle it.
I also expect hatred and loyalty from civilians. I don't care much for the ones who conduct hatred unless it is severe enough. There will probably be a high risk of me dying but for the Universal Union. There should also be a lot of enjoyable roleplaying going on. I can guess that keeping civilians in line and out of harms way will also be a big part of this job.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.

Sam Shiffer had grew up in the less sofisticated parts of the world, along with the drug dealers he lived with. Sadly, two of them we're his parents. He could never really live a true childs life but he grew to ignore it. No one ever really cared for him in his life, nor meant to help him until later years. During elementry school he was the top of his class. Always getting the highest marks but yet, he never got noticed. It was supprising because he was never bullied. Even though he was the odd one out, no  one ever cared about him, he was just air, you could walk right past him. He never really cared since he did not know much about being a kid. Teachers suggested multiple teams he should have joined but he would always decline. During middle school his parents went to far and attracted to much attention to there drug dealing. The local task force issued  a raid on the home, not knowing that a child actually lived there. There brutal attack almost go Sam killed. Out of cowardice Sam's father pushed him into the way of the spray of bullets heading for him. They just missed Sam, barely hitting his father. In an attempt to run, the swat team open fired at his parents killing his mother leaving his father to run. The swat team dragged Sam's shocked body out of the house while the rest of the swat team ran for the back of the house. From the front of the house, Sam was lying there in a state of shock. Bullets just went flying at him almost killing him, and now his dad is getting chased by the swat team. From the back of the house Sam could hear the old, rusty and far to rickety car door slam, and then the car fly off. The rest of the team drove off chasing the car. Racing off with a cloud of smoke coming from the back of the old car, Sams dad did not make it far. Pulling out of the intersection we're to police cars raming Sam's father, causing severe injuries, almost fatal. You would think somone would hate the police because of this, but Sam only learned to admire them. This made up for the Eight years he lived with them. He felt justice in the breeze.

Shiffer, was later transfered to a orphanage we're he found comfort and peace. Continuing into elementry school he was pulled out of his classes to see a therapist to discuss the events about his parents. Still no one at school would even bother to recognize him, learn his name. Instead he was treated like an insect, or a germ that you didn't even know was there. By the time he hit high school, he was highest in all of his classes once more, recieving honor role every single year. Colleges offering scolarship after scolarship, Univerersities wanting this student so bad even offering guarantee acceptance to the school. He still wasn't that proud of himself, although he felt happier then he did with his parents. Teachers almost thought that he was a slave because of the amount of work he was doing, at some points, he finished the rest of the years work. Out of high school, Shiffer went into law school. There he met a life changing friend. Moe. Moe was your average human being, not incredibly inteligent, has flaws like any normal person, but for some odd reason, Shiffer was able to think of Moe as a friend, the irony of this is that Shiffer never really wanted the best friend sort of thing. Shiffer and Moe became great friends throughout the years, until Moe was brutally murdered. During a drive-by shoot out beetween two rival gangs, Moe was caught in the middle. Although Shiffer was not there when it happened, he felt like he saw it. Moe was off to get some groceries for the dorm, late at night. Moe could see a group of different races, Hispanic, Caucasian, African American. They we're all wearing a dark purple and some with white outlines. Pulling up slowly and silently, the car soon broke the chatter amongst the gang members infront of Moe. Guns flying out the windows of the Van, both gangs started shooting. The car shot while Moe flew to the ground in cover. Unharmed he got up, then the car pulled a quick u-turn injuring and killing two of the gang members up ahead, Moe saw the Van fly by him, the adrenaline was rushing through Moe's veigns, slowly putting his hand  on his stomach only to see blood leeking everywhere from his stomach. He was so full on adrenaline that he couldn't feel a thing, until everything started coming back. A sharp stinging noise came to his ears, and a stinging sensation came to his body. Looking around, everything became a blur, his head falling to the ground only to see the puddles, then his sight fading away, while his thinking became faint, as he fell asleep... For ever.

Sam swore he would avenge his death no matter what. Becoming a lawyer, he felt like he went back to what he felt as a child. A sadder state, yet not horrible. He delt with one client after another going into a routine. Shiffer soon realized that he's not going to get anywhere in life, goal wise, the way he's living. Sam changed every day, every moment, every second. Learning more and more about what there is to life, but yet noticing, the world needs a change, the way we're living like barbarians isn't helping. This was soon changed by the arrival of combine.

The portal storms erupted and had set destruction onto the world and all it's people, these catastrophic events drove people insane, not knowing what to do, the worlds populace was sent into a dog eat dog world, situation. Many people suffering from these events that seemed so strange to be happening we're even more shocked of what was about to happen.  At first, people had no Idea what to do about these alien races. People thought they we're seeking refuge from what ever planet they came from, all these different species seemed so alien to humans, not even the worlds greatest scienetest knew how to explain this. The worlds leaders we're in shock, there people going insane. But one last race came upon humanity, not knowing if they we're here to help or take over, but soon there intention was clear, to enslave the human race for themselves, yet in time, he would discover that they came to help. Sam was in fear, not knowing what to think about this war, not knowing how to deal with this for himself. He was sent into hiding for a period of time he can not recall now, in a place that he will only remember in his dreams. Waiting day after day for something to happen, even to die, surviving off they we're given by what the shelter had offer. Finally getting found by these human like race that seemed to be wearing gas masks and some fur like material plated armour. It almost seemed like they knew where they we're, and we're waiting until the war ended. Sam was suprised that they didn't just kill them. He was soon escorted to a train, he doesn't remember where it was or how he got there, but only a very long train ride. This, he thought is how he was going to die. No one else on that train had any clue we're they we're going, no one felt the need to talk to eachother either. All wearing the same clothing that this new millitary like force administered them. During this train ride that had felt like somewhat of a break from all the trauma in the rest of the world, he was still eager to see what is on the other side of this train ride.

Coming to an end of the ride, he could tell, he was met by another one of those millitary like men. He explained to him to just obey, and he will live. Glancing around at the rest of the citizens getting off trains he heard people talking in the streets, interupted by a officer, he looked at the civilians for a second, then flicked his stuntick and set to on, the officer glanced for one more second, letting the silence spread through the air, then his crips voice cracked the silence with a robotic voice, "Citizens, isolate!". This startled shiffer because of the strange voice he had just heard. Looking around a bit more while he saw something even more strange, a flying metal eye, it seemed to be a camera. Glancing at it, the eye approached him, stared at him, then emited a blinding light that shocked Fisher even more causing him to fall down. He could feel eyes on him from all around. In the background of the city he could hear radios going off and on, code names and words coming though the masks of the officers.

The Seven Day war has ended in turmoil. The Combine, in the disastrous portal storm caused by the Black Mesa incident, have journeyed to Earth and, like all aliens everywhere, find the need to invade it. Resistance forces barely managing to stay alive are scattered across the world in search of hope. Then the combine, fearlessly ruling with an iron fist. Dr Wallace Breen, the head of the now infamous Black Mesa, surrenders on behalf of humanity, and is granted the position of dictator over the remaining oppressed humans. And his centre of operations is City 17.

The streets are filled with refuse and muck, people dart from building to building, heads bowed. Strange, mask-wearing soldiers stalk the streets, and in the ruins of destroyed buildings and outside the city, carnivorous monstrosities feed off the incautious and the unfortunate. Fear took role in the streets, lurking up and around the streets.  At first he did not know how to comprehend the situation until a speach of a man named who called himself an administrator took place. He was suited in a brown suit and tie. The rest of his body was not very visible. He explained much about what Sam thought was a alien millitary force. These so people we're known as the Combine. They we're here to help, it almost seemed like they we're here to save the earth from the humans though. Very few people had the guts to resist, and even those who had the guts couldn't.  It took long before Shiffer could completely understand the Combine completely. Everyday he learned to admire them a bit more. It did not take long until he decided his goal was to become one of them. Although he wasn't sure what consequences would take toll. He then learned to outgrow the unsurness and risk anything, including his life for this. He found himself more then happy to give his life for the Universal Union. Finally word has spread that the CCA themselves we're looking for applicants. He was eager to apply, asking around for more information. Soon he was ready to apply, and did so. Waiting, hoping, and wanting to get accepted currently at the moment.~1895 words checked.
