News and Announcements / Steam Login
« on: May 12, 2019, 04:58:36 PM »
Woah, an announcement? This might be interesting...

Wanted to try something out, and it seems to have worked pretty well. Since we already were mapping everyone's steam ID due to the server integration, I figured it would be pretty easy to allow you to log in using Steam!

Long story short, I've added "Sign in through Steam" button to the usual login areas. Clicking this button will send you to a Steam Community page to confirm your login, after that you will be directed back here and signed in.

If this doesn't work for you, the Main Login Page still has the legacy forum login form.

Please give this a try and if you have any issues please let me know!

Thanks,
Trevor

News and Announcements / *sigh* I just don't really care
« on: January 18, 2016, 12:20:59 AM »
Like really though? Why would you put effort into hacking a site as useless as CG?

You need a life. Badly.

To anyone that cares: shit was restored to my last good backup which is from October because I stopped giving a fuck around that time. So eh

News and Announcements / Planned Maintenance [8/22]
« on: August 18, 2015, 04:21:43 PM »
Wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about a maintenance window spanning a couple days toward the end of this week.

All CG services will be down starting Saturday night at 11:00PM CST and will be down until, at the latest, Monday Morning at 6AM CST

During this time, the website may go in and out of availability and HRP will also be offline. No data or progress will be lost.

Now for those curious as to the reason, that's a little bit hard to explain. Some of you may recall back in May when the servers went down for a few hours. This was due to the loss of control of one of our back end servers which ran our site-to-site VPN and our primary database. Due to this loss, we had to migrate a few services and reconfigure some servers to get everything back online, and we've been working in this state ever since. This is primarily the reason some have noticed slow load times and problems with the forum as this web server we are hosting on was not made to handle this load.

This maintenance is also needed to facilitate our developers in working on our servers. We have stuff in the works so stay tuned.

I'm not exactly good at hardware, I figured some of you might be.

A few notes:
I'm not watercooling
I'm not overclocking
As far as budget, <$1,800 is preferred.

News and Announcements / HRP Downtime
« on: August 30, 2013, 02:15:49 PM »
Alright, let's tackle this one before the rumors start, shall we?

HRP went down a few hours ago due to a fallout with our former lua developer Tomasas. While Catalyst-Gaming staff respects his decision to leave his method was childish. He, using his access to our systems, removed HRP and all its backups. I report at this time that we do not have the ability to obtain the lost data, whether we can find older backups is left to be seen. It is certain, however, that despite our best efforts we will not be able to recover your player data, due to this we will work on methods to compensate for the loss of time.

I will provide any future updates pertaining to this story as edits to this post, any information not in this post should be considered rumor and speculation.

News and Announcements / Recent Downtime
« on: June 01, 2012, 03:42:07 PM »
I feel I need to address the recent downtime that we've experienced and let me tell you, it's a good story. However, I can't tell you it.

A lot of our security was compromised in the past week and we've been fighting to repair it, rest assured that none of your information was damaged or stolen, everything is safe.

I would like to personally apologize for much of the time wasted, we had no indication this attack was coming but it could have been prevented.

Over the next few weeks we will be instituting more strict security measures on development around here, we've brought on a person who is quite knowledgeable in linux security to help us as well. Also, if you're wondering who caused this, that information is confidential, the matter has been resolved and I would like to pinch any forming rumors (because I know you'll make them) that it was a member of our staff. It was not. None of our trusted developers would have leaked information.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience, and lets get back to playing like always.

Remember that whole "Morbus" thing? Well, I've found myself in possession of a copy of that gamemode and was wondering if you guys want a server for it. Here's a video of it if you don't remember it:

Seeing as we have already implanted the MySQL saving system, you cannot get to exchange your stars anymore on the GMPTR server. For anyone wondering what this is (mostly US). We've changed GMPTR to save with MySQL which resulted in people getting reset when we switched. We gave everyone 1 and a half hour to exchange their stars, but obviously, its not fair for the US which was not awake when this happened.

Below is a thread where you can request your stars to be moved over to the MySQL database if you didnt get to exchange them. Only for people that had 10 or more stars.
