Seven thousand years in the future and a system of feudalism. No thanks.

Good systems don't change.

General Discussion / Serious RP gamemode lore idea
« on: December 06, 2014, 10:51:43 PM »
Okay so, this is a work in progress and i'll update it with fresh blocks of text when ready.

The year is 9999. The turn of the millennium.  The galaxy has been successfully colonized by several human factions. The largest of which is the Empire of Syrrinan, comprising of five houses. Carslile, Warros, Beyn, Eidil, and Marrin. Eidil, for over three thousand years, has vied for independence. Having made their own local government, the People's Republic, they finally decide enough is enough of Emperor Sethan III.
Year 10000, the Eidilians attack, breaking away in a violent revolution and fighting the Syrrinans in a bloody onslaught which claims the lives of millions. Things go well in the beginning, Eidil gaining ground quickly and their defeats few. However, at the Battle of Nightfall, things turn sour. The Eidilian Armada is brutally shattered and their forces routed, the Syrrinians march to the capitol, Earth, or Nexus, and firebomb it to virtually nothing. A quarter of the population survives.

Year 10020, Eidil rebuilds and a violent civil war sweeps through the country, tearing it asunder again, and the fascist Congress Kingdom of Eidil emerges under the leadership of King Xarl XVI. The Eidilians immediately form a pact with other fascist nations, the recently conquered Democratic Socialist Republic of Agrippa fights it's way out of Syrrinan, but a fascist revolt turns it black. Tredia, to the south of Eidil, is also fascist and so is the house of Sahjik. With these nations, Eidil forms the Jagharta Pact. The alliance is a powerful one, and they declare war on Syrrinan. In this war, the capitol of Greenstone is besieged and conquered, Emperor Sethan III is  murdered by Eidil Legions, their premier fighting force. The power shifts from Marrin to Warros, and Emperor Manuel II is crowned; whom has strong Eidilian sympathies as a wave of Fascism grips his house (sponsored by Eidil).

Now of this, we could have it set under Eidil occupation, or within Syrrinan. It all depends on what the devs want.

I would really like to see this, please.

Just make everyone beta police or something, NOVA medic cops, and HC of certain divisions one of the more badass ones.

Like if we get zealot or something again just make them Black Metro cops or something cool. I have a feeling with these models people will be like "damn son, that's good shit. Let's come to this server, their cops are amazing."

Overwatch Transhuman Arm / [DECLINED] Scrublord's application
« on: March 08, 2014, 11:55:53 PM »
<::| FORMAT: New Applicant |::>[/center]

1. Steam Name: Scrublord

2. Steam ID: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198001398713/

3. How old are you? 16

4. What personal qualities do you have that make you suitable for a place in the OTA faction? I am good with a team, and I believe I am a good leader.

5. What is your experience with roleplaying in general?  3 years here at catalyst-gaming

6. What other characters do you play? RAZOR.02.04296

7. How long have you been involved in serious RP? Little over three years. Started serious here at Catalyst.

8. How long have you played at Catalyst Gaming? ^^^ Three years.

9. What country and time zone are you located in (please use a GMT- or GMT+ modifier)? UTC-07:00, United States.

10. Do you have any experience in any factions at Catalyst Gaming or other communities? Yes. Multiple times in the CCA and only a couple minor rebel factions.

11. Have you ever been subject to punishment in a faction for doing something wrong OOCly? If so, please explain. Uh, a couple times. Both as a recruit in Old CG HL2RP. One was for insubordination, attacking antlions with a stun stick, two was for using a pistol as an rct. And the other was, i forget. The next croot was for tippy toeing into D2, and for something else. An audio violation.

12. Do you understand that by being accepted into the Overwatch faction, you are bound to the OOC standards?
Yes, I do.

ASSESSMENT #1 - IC situation: You have just been tasked with escorting a VIP (in this case, a Civil Administrator) from the Nexus to the center of the plaza for a speech. It is expected that an attempt will be made on the VIP's life today at an unknown time. A citizen begins to follow your escort group. You suspect that they belong to a rebel group who intend to kill the VIP. How do you approach the situation? Be creative. I would turn around, and tell him to freeze, and get on the ground. After alerting the rest of the group to the possible threat. Then I would order nearby MPF to tie him up and search him, then quickly escort the Administrator back to the Nexus.

ASSESSMENT #2 - OOC situation: The following scenario has taken place: a player who is in command of a criminal character in possession of hidden contraband was in the process of being handcuffed before they suddenly ran away without any valid RP. A member of the administration team locates and brings the offending player back to where they started. The player does not seem to understand the rules of the server. They are frozen in place while the administrator is sent to deal with an urgent matter. Before the administrator leaves, you are asked to explain to the player about what they did wrong. How do you proceed?

I would inform the new player that in Serious RP, you are expected to /me your actions and give other players a chance to react to what you said. Furthermore I would instruct them that booking it in such a manner would be considered "minge like." I would tell him that in such scenarios he should avoid doing that in the event of a ban or something. I would explain to him the difference between OOC and IC, in the event he did not already know. I would move on, and tell him such things like Fear RP and Pain RP, telling them the significance it can play in not only an RP scenario, but in the development of a character.

Just like any level three contraband, you consume it, you get a stat boost. And perhaps decrease some stats.

In a depressing and grim world, people will seek things to help ease the grim circumstances of which they live.  I think it'd be very realistic for lab made substances like PCP or meth to hit the streets. Also, with the right people, this can make some very good RP.

yes but there is nothing more intimidating in CQB than seeing a laser right next to you, giving you a visual of how some one is ready to gun you down.

and your poos were interesting. I shall have the worst diarrhea and send it to you at some time

You're making it sound like in schools when your 10 where everyone lines up and people pick teams based on what they know about them. I don't really like it if thats what you mean

more like the NFL where they 'draft' who they think will be best for their division.

Suggestions / Divisions and recruits
« on: February 08, 2014, 10:55:44 PM »
Way back, we had a large problem with divisions either having way too many people or way too few. I think, that instead of people just jumping on a division perceived to be "popular" we do this:

Each recruit is assigned a "class" This class is given a number. 001 for example.

CCA-C45.RCT.DIVISION.XXX, the recruit has a "class" which would be in his file. Pull that up you'd get something like

CCA-C45.RCT.DIVISION.XXX
Class 001
Trainings completed: 1

Trainings to do: (list)

The "class" does their trainings together, and graduates at the same time. At the end of their training, they are given an assesment and the class is presented to the DVLs of the division. Based on what they did best, instructor comments, and personal preference, they are to be selected by a DVL. Also, each division must have a quota of x amount of people in said division.

thoughts?

Suggestions / Re: About Uniform and Zealot
« on: February 06, 2014, 11:26:53 PM »
make Zealot in the beginning just Military Police. They dole out the punishment. Make them all snoopy, or rather, an entirely different snoopy division later on.

We got Grid for the nuts n bolts, Uniform as boot camp, Apex as your basic low-brow-knucklehead enforcement, Nova as the medical department, then Zealot.

Zealot

They aren't very zealous. Somewhat counter intuitive to their name, not the most overbearingly zealous people I've ever met. (which they should be. These people are basically the SS.) But internal and external affairs? That crosses paths too much. You're gathering information on outside resistance groups yet at the same time gathering information on people within the CCA. That isolates you too much. Make it so that Zealot is the MP, then some other group with an ominous name like Phantom/Ghost/Walrider/Gestapo/Shutzshtaffel/NSA/Overlords/Hawks/whatever does the infiltration and the intelligence gathering. Because what we have is a conflict of interest in Zealot. A: you're concerned about intelligence gathering. B: you're concerned about the people inside the CCA. That makes members of Zealot more reluctant to actually say their information.

Another thing, the size of the divisions was almost arbitrary but undoubtedly off the fucking wall. We got APEX with like 10 active people, Grid with 7, NOVA with like, 3, Zealot with some unknown number of people though a lot. Then UNIFORM with like 1000 people.

Instead of Uniform officers circle jerking waiting to train, SCHEDULE IT

yes, a schedule.

7PM EST Uniform Live Fire/Breaching Training (steam group/private board)

4 PM EST Uniform Live Fire/Breaching  Training

Now have an NA officer do the NA training and the EU officer do the EU training, so example

5 AM EST Uniform Live Fire Training Today! (Eight hours ahead in most of europe, so it wouldn't be late at night, but infact towards the middle of the day.)

Give each recruit a score sheet, and tick off each required event when completed. Have every other day a training day and each one is dedicated to certain events. Then one big ass graduation ceremony.
