That's pretty clever, now that I know how it works it does seem pretty easy not to see the pattern.

Support & Help / Re: GCSE's
« on: March 06, 2014, 04:25:31 PM »
I'm going to structure it into the subjects and give my opinion on it etc. I'm in year 10 and doing a similar exam board.

Computing: By far the easiest subject out of the ones you listed. All you need to know is HTML CSS and Javascript at a amateur level and your good to go. The coursework generally consists of you being given some pre-built code and you have to extend it to meet some requirements. For Example for my GCSE my pre-built code is a form that people will use for exam entrys where they can type their name age etc, and you basically have to extend it to do some validation verification etc.

Honestly, in my opinion even if you don't know that much code you should be fine doing this subject :D. Also it might be easier than mine because you get 20 hours whilst I get 25 hours so yeeee.

History:Not much to say about it realllyyyyy. Errm well all I would say is pay attention in lesson and don't get distracted. Also another thing when answering questions (source based or not source based doesn't matter) always put a ton of evidence and detail in that is what gets you the marks. I dropped an entire grade for A to B on one mock question for the reason "You didn't put enough detail about Vesalius's main idea) So ye be wary of that.

Triple Science: Well I took Double, So I'm only doing B,C,P 1 at the moment so I can't help you at all with 2,3. Best asking somebody else:P

R.E: I didn't take this one so I have no idea what to say except always back up your opinions. Ask Derposki, http://www.catalyst-gaming.net/index.php?action=profile;u=22662 pretty confident he took R.E.

The Core Subjects: Maths honestly just revise a lot for those exams and pay attention in class, could be a good idea to go and get more work from your teacher perhaps? I got mock exams at end of this month so I decided to go and pick up a paper off him. After finishing this paper my teacher said he would go through the test with me 1 to 1 and help me learn where I went wrong. (I NEED THAT B OR A :P).

For English I'm not sure what to say I'm only getting C's in English (I made that sound like a bad thing) you have just got to provide Plenty of evidence back it up clearly make your point and for A and A* on some pieces try exploring alternate views, meanings etc because they love to see that.

I am taking computing, history, triple science and R.E along with the obvious science, maths and English.

You made it sound like quad science? I don't know what to say here :P.

But honestly just try your best and try and get minimum grade C's in all subjects as this will help with college. Good luck with that coursework :P

For computing we are using Visual Basic.
I meant core science and triple science but I wish my school offered double science because I don't really like biology.
Thanks for the advice and good luck with your GCSE's.

Thanks for the advice.
For History we do all of exams at the end of year 11 (except for CA). So far we have done Germany 1918-1939 and we have started Britain during 1918-1945
I've got B's for the last 2 controlled assessments in English. For me the hardest part was the change from year 9 to year 10.

Support & Help / GCSE's
« on: March 05, 2014, 04:36:30 PM »
Hi all,
I'm currently in year 10 (British school years) and I was wondering if anyone has some advice about passing GCSE's.
I am taking computing, history, triple science and R.E along with the obvious science, maths and English.
We have done 2 English controlled assessments (Spoken language and persuasive writing), we are also about to do an "Of Mice and Men" CA in English as well.
On top of that I am also about to start my 20 hour computing controlled assessment.

If anyone could give some advice about GCSE's that would be great.  :D

P.S: I am also interested to know what subjects you took. (If it's not too personal).

Thanks Sam.

Denied / Joseph Cooper's Metropolice Force Application
« on: March 02, 2014, 05:49:06 PM »
Joseph Cooper's Metropolice Force Application

OOC Name: Sambolinski

IC Character Name: Joseph Cooper

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Metropolice Force and what lead your character to do so.
My character was tormented from childhood from his Mother's death, this was life destroying, so he wanted not to do justice for her mothers death but help others who were in similar situations. His way of think is "Those who hurt him, get hurt back". This makes him more prone to be less sympathetic to offenders and less merciful to those who cross him.

The police force wasn't there when my character needed it, so he would like to make hat change to society, he likes to feel like he is giving something to the citizens of city 18. Especially because he feels like he has not done enough.

Most importantly my character wishes gain knowledge from this experience, he wants to gain a greater understanding of what the Combine Civil Authority does to help the civilians. This knowledge will aid him during his later life in the Combine Civil Authority and allow him to save the citizens.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
My character is Intelligent, trustworthy, merciless, obedient and honest. He will never question orders given to him.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
I am expecting the training for Combine Civil Authority to be tough, and long. But it will be worth it in the end as he will become and amazing Law enforcement patrol officer. I will also think this challenge will be mentally tough as well as physically demanding because of the situations he will be in.

But, because this isn't like the police force he is used to before the combine takeover her will be shocked but at the same time excited because some of the adrenaline inducing work he will have to follow and obey without question. All in it will be a good experience for him as it will surely test him, but he will not let you down.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Joseph Cooper was born from a British family and grew up in London. He was the youngest child to William and Jane Cooper, but sadly his mother Was murdered when he was at the age of 7 from a killer who to this day has not been caught, this was to affect him most of his life. His father had a decent job so he could afford to keep Joseph and his sister. During his childhood he had a few close friends who helped him along, even when his constant flashbacks to the day he realised his mother was murdered took hold. During school he was not considered a bright kid or an unintelligent, he was just average.

During his later years as a young teenager he was interested in crime fiction films and movies. He was always fascinated by the elaborate schemes of the villain or the intelligent spotting of clues by the detective, but by far he loved the story “Sherlock Holmes”. But this interest soon of the better of him, he needed closure from his mother’s murder. He too started to investigate; newspapers, articles anything he could get his hands on. As he grew older he continued with his school work and passed his GCSE’s. This was great for him; his most successful subjects were Physics and Mathematics.

But, even though he was happy after he finished his school work, Joseph desperately wanted to end this mystery once and for all; it would slowly drive him insane. As he was about to start his career the “7 year war struck”, the war killed his father which didn't affect him as much as his mother’s death did. He moved to city 18 and decided to apply for the Combine Civil Authority because he didn't want others to go through his torment during his childhood.

I've got an idea, but it kind of doesn't work because of necroposting.
If a thread is say a month old and you make a post, it wont bump up but stay where it is.
But there is no point because of necroposting.

Hi all,

I don't know if it's possible but can you make your own threads modifiable by those who you choose. So say the co-owner of an org can make changes to the OP is say the creator is away?

Anyway if it's possible can it be added

Thanks

I like the idea and would really help many people.
Though I would not be using it I think when you view a players profile it shows their current name and your nickname for them.
