General Discussion / Re: Where did all the serious RP'ers go?
« on: May 19, 2016, 11:51:19 AM »
Got bored waiting for the new CGRP, left, went to Uni, came back now because I was bored and saw Gmod discussion asking "why to people hate HL2RP" CG popped back into my head and I came back to find a rotting carcass, just gonna bury it and move on.

The entire game is unrealistic. Just turn your vehicle off. Its made at the amount it is to encourage use of the system. You shouldn't keep your car running anyway.

Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

Actualy the point of turning vehicle engines on and off primarily was to address the problem of criminals jumping in vehicles and driving off after being rammed out.

Increase in pay checks will cause it to become a grind as a police officer, barley making any money to making a normal ammount of wage money. I also believe Crap-head said that no such system was going to be implemented, ranks are to make the roles over officers more diverse, not to fill your wallet faster.

Your problem is, you have too much opposition to have it changed and changes most likely won't happen. I do give you credit in posting a thread as to get something to change, and not sit back and complain.. but the majority rules right?

Not really, its more or less what Crap-Head thinks is a good idea or not.

Suggestions / Re: Medic Improvements
« on: May 15, 2013, 06:40:08 PM »
There's actually going to be a similar leveling system to police when I'm done with it. Something like this (very rough draft):

Paramedic Trainee
- Cannot get vehicle (vip/gold exempt)
- Low chance of revival on death
- Cannot fix broken bones
- Lowered bandage healing power

Paramedic
- Can get vehicle
- Higher chance of revival on death
- Can fix broken bones, but may take a few times
- Hightened healing from bandages

Senior Paramedic
- Higher chance of revival on death
- Can fix broken bones every time
- Hightened healing from bandages

Of course there's more to it and there will be more in the end after consulting with some people, but ye. Probably going to introduce a few new things like splints and stuff so its not like "lol i hit you with a first aid box now your legs not broken" and stuff.

So you have to wait 24 hours to get a medic vehicle? The ever rare medic species will soon become an endagerd one at this rate...

Fixed Bugs / Re: Vehicle scripts - changelog

The Ferrari 250 GT easily spins out :/

You have to turn at low speed, and if you press W to fast, it just spins out :s
A lot of cars are like this.
The BMW M5 and the ATV are two examples I can think of off the top of my head.

Fix? Use OCRP 1.5 scripts OR get rid of the mechanic which causes cars to spin out, its annoying. And instead add things like drifting, it is possible and was achieved in OCRP 1.5.

Something serious has to be done about many of the vehicles in the gamemode, this has been said many times and will keep going till it gets done

We have lives outside of Catalyst Gaming too and no amount of complaining will put fixing virtual vehicles for free at the top of my priority list.

You can vent your frustrations with vehicles here where a changelog is also visible: http://www.catalyst-gaming.net/index.php?topic=24580.0

I quote 'however devs; if you cant handle all the testing and balancing issues get community members to test the vehicles and fill out forms to give input, then you act on those accordingly to fix the vehicles. OR even ask community members to help with development. I dont care, whatever it takes to get this done since vehicles in this gamemode are fairly essential.'

Passive RP can only go so far. But i stayed SWAT because i did not want a situation to arise where the police force gets mauled. AND btw, passive RP also in most circumstances requires others for interaction, and there was literaly none, we stood up danced around shot at the targets for 30 mins. But by then it was just old and we sat in chairs for the remainder of an hour and a half.

I said it 2-3 times already and so did others, now I shall say it again. If you get bored, then quit. People like it how it is, If you want action go play another game, we are trying to RP properly here. Now I am annoyed because you keep saying the same thing over and over, and we give you the same over and over.

If your annoyed stop posting in this thread, but i stand by my point. I dont mind rping i like to, but there having fun whilst rping and not having fun whilst rping. And the line has to be drawn somewhere.

I've heard people have been complaining about the female looking like she has downs, however i dont think that is the case; this update is a good improvement to the gamemode so far, however the No.1 issue is still vehicle control.

If you cannot passive RP, you cannot RP in general. I have been playing gmod for almost five years. Over 8000 hours on it and most of that was role playing and it is a fact that passive RP is what really tests people. Role playing is not meant to be about action but developing your character. Just because you cannot do it doesn't mean others need to change. And no one is forcing you to be SWAT, you can quit any time you want.

Also, your NOT supposed to but a warehouse outside the city or anything like that. Its not government property where SWAT would be. You are supposed to stay at the Nexus, and if you want an officer the third floor of the Nexus has that. Do you see government officials buying houses and playing around in there waiting for a call? No. And I know what you are talking about, the warehouse. Anything you purchase someone can say counts as a house, and that is basically what you guys were doing.

Again, RP isn't about action, if you cannot passive go play CSS, TF2 Deathmatch or something that does.

Tell that to the admin who was also SWAT. As well as that, i can play passive rp all i said was that it was boring and frustrating, but lets see how long you would last sitting in a warehouse as a SWAT officer without calls for 2 hours.

Denied Suggestions / Re: New Police Car Models
« on: May 13, 2013, 08:13:25 PM »
Lately I have been talking with a guy named SentryGunMan, creator of WAC helicopters and planes and many other vehicles. He has a police car that we are going to make a suggestion about. Perfect model, HD. Great sounds and whatnot. We will also be suggesting a Jeep Wrangler in that thread.
Anyway, be patient. We will have the thread up soon and you will see that this police car will be a lot better than any before.

Post the link in this thread so it can get bumped up again and so we'll have more support on this whole ordeal.

I agree, and this vehicle issue needs to be resolved now. I'm getting sick and tierd of repeating myself with this simple solution yet no developer heeds it.

Simple solution; passive RP.

You go to a base, or the nexus, you walk around doing passive, until you're deployed.

If anything you can say the same about firefighters, secret service as well as paramedics. They all have to do nothing until the time arises when they're called out — granted secret service are a little more active, but when the mayor sits in his office all day, you have to passive until something happens.

Don't like passive but like action? Don't roll SWAT, stay as police.

Completely agree. I do passive all the time as a firefighter. Paramedics can Atleast make house calls just to check up on people. But like Dr said if you can't stand being SWAT and taking the chance of not having anything to do well choose another job.

We did do that, SWAT hired a base and set up shop there, we stood watch for nearly 2 hours of passive rp, but theres only so far you can go before it gets tedious and frustrating. Passive rp should NOT make up the majority of time as a class. So the SWAT either 1 need to become a more active and interesting job role, or 2 need to be more accessable and faster to appoint in the case of a fire fight, whilst also implementing the rule that officers are not allowed to get involved in serious fire fights WITHOUT SWAT support.

Suggestions / Re: Improving the Secret Service
« on: May 13, 2013, 08:07:23 PM »
I believe the use of SS is to:
1: Protect the mayor against any threats and to be his bodyguard.

2: To investigate matters which could threaten the mayor or the city and report their findings to the police WHO ARE the law enforcement of the city and will carry out the arrests.

  -  SUPPORT

Nor did i, i said that i believe the current role of SS if you already know what SS do is to protect the mayor and investigate matters which may cause harm to the mayor. And why would there be a non leathal option if someone attacks the mayor? Thats like saying if someone attacked the US president they would get away with 10 years jail. NOPE, they would be sent to death row. And the closest thing to that in OCRP is killing them on the spot. And my point does stand because OCRP is US law based.
Did you even read the suggestion? I clearly outlined how these two items would help the SS protect the mayor and how they are relevant....

Before you go as far as to - support an Idea at least read the post.

The Tazer would give the SS a NON LETHAL option for dealing with minor or less severe THREATS TO THE MAYOR such as people assaulting the mayor. If someone were to go and try to punch the mayor out the only option the SS has right now is to kill that person (if they dont follow fearRP) there is no non lethal option.

The zip ties would allow the SS to detain the less severe threats AGAINST THE MAYOR until the POLICE can arrive to arrest them NOT the SS.

NO WHERE did I say that the SS needed these to go act like police.  I specifically stated how these would help the SS defend the MAYOR and not act like police.  I even stated that the zip ties would not arrest the person and would only detain them.  POLICE would have to make the arrest.

Please actually read the ENTIRE suggestion (which was 4 sentances) before you come up with an ignorant opinion that isn't relevant as I have already stated this will help protect the MAYOR and NOT act like police.
