How long have you been in City45:
City 45 has been my residence ever since I was allocated here, it is my current and only home. I was allocated to transfer to this city a year after the 7-hour-war occurred, before that I was living in City 18 for approximately another year.

Why do you want to join the CWU?:
The reason why I would like to join the Civil Workers Union is so that I can aid the citizens of the city with anything they would require, as long as it is under reasonable boundaries. I would like to perform tasks such as providing non-contraband items and also cleaning, perhaps even extend my medical knowledge by acting as a first-aider. My goal is to also aid the Universal Union by doing anything I am requested to do by the civil protection units, although I believe that my main target would be to act as a role model for other citizens in order to help maintain the so called 'sociostability'.

I also would like to join the Civil Workers Union to make up for all the wrong things and unethical decisions I had made before the 7-hour-war.

Have you ever been detained before?(If so why):
I have never been detained, however I have received only a single beating and it was for 'mobility violations', or running. A more in-depth description of the events is as it follows; a middle aged man was assaulted in the Union Civil Housing block, as soon as I walked into the apartment block, my eyes locked onto the man holding a tight grip on his life whilst pleading for his life on the floor. I immediately bolted out the door and ran to the nearest unit available and reported the incident, however after the man was dealt with I was given a 're-education' for my previous actions.

Past experience with work/labor:
None, nothing to be considered as real work or labour; I have had no previous experience with work or labor. Before the 7-hour-war, I was inanimate, could've been considered dead by many. At a young age I became isolated and distant from my family, this kept me under depression but also under unwanted affliction for years which disallowed me to perform any sort of work without becoming distraught.

However putting this aside, I managed to obtain a small part-time job as an advertiser for a company that sold tools for mechanical work prior the 7-hour-work.

Name 4 things the CWU Can possess, and 4 things we cant. Also state why.:
The workers are allowed to possess portable handheld radios which they use to communicate with each other regarding work matters. The purpose for these is to be able to quickly inform other members of the events occurring nearby which may require assistance of a Civil Worker. Radio communication between workers is mostly to allow the transfer of information without the requirement of paper, it is also a lot faster to use vocal functions instead of writing. Another addition to the four things that the Civil Workers can possess is white cotton wool shirts that are specially designed to maintain warmth and comfort in cold days, they also help others distinguish a common citizen from a worker.
Another allowed possession is request devices, they are only to be used accordingly and using the provided request format to allow civil protection units to attend to the reported events as quick as possible. These devices are not to be misused and can be used to contact the CCA for assistance in case an anti-citizen or a citizen meaning to cause harm is nearby. Settings everything said aside, the civil workers are also allowed to carry around medical aid and first aid kits. They are required to help injured citizens which ultimately saves lives of injured citizens.
Another allowed possession is UU branded goods, these are specially provided to workers with the purpose to be sold and provided to citizens  as they meet the basic needs for all citizens.

However, onto the items that the workers are not allowed to possess.
Weapons are not allowed simply because their function is to cause harm and to endanger those around you. Alcohol is also forbidden, its effects are negative therefore it is considered to be contraband. Drugs and other body-enhancements substances are forbidden, this is mostly referring to steroids and antidepressants.
Non-UU branded goods are forbidden because they are most of the time unsafe.

Tell us about what you can do.:
I have an extremely high stamina and tolerance endurance, meaning that I would be able to carry heavy boxes and items around the office and from one end to the city to another with no problem, I would also like to think that I am good at keeping myself and others around me organized. This is mostly an essential because a union cannot be maintained without organization.

If a citizen asks for help and is new to the city, what would you do?:
I would teach them how our city works, and inform them of all of our rules and regulations, as well as help them register for UCH housing. I would also tell them about how our Civil Protection is here for us, and that we should listen to them. I would warn them not to go into District 6, since it is a hive of scum and villainy.

I think that this question is quite dull since it is implying that we should only help those citizens that are new to the city, but putting that aside:
If any citizen asked me for help, I would first of all ask them what they needed help with - I would then proceed by explaining the process and perhaps the location of what they are looking for. Some citizens are unaware of some of the locations of the city so I would give them accurate details on the facilities and regions nearby. This may include but is not limited to explaining where the Ration Distribution Terminal is located, as well as the Union Civil Housing apartment blocks. After providing the citizen with a detailed tour of the city, I would then proceed by explaining them how things are generally executed in the city as well as introducing the rules and regulations implied by the Universal Union. This would include things such as staying quiet and facing the front during a ration distribution, or others such as not exercising mobility violations .

Detail a regular day as a worker of the CWU?:
I would first of all begin my character development by getting dressed up in the CWU uniform provided, it would also be enjoyable to perform descriptive /me's and /it's of my character tunning in the radio into the right frequency, as well as clipping the radio onto my belt and getting ready to assist the citizens of the city. Not only that, but in the morning it would involve doing normal daily things such as having a shower, washing your hair and brushing your teeth.
After the work in the headquarters is concluded I would  report to the headquarters in order to commence my daily duties, which would mostly involve of following orders provided by my superiors. I would carefully plan out how to accurately perform the task in order to include as few mistakes as possible, or none if the occasion is rare (performing deliberate mistakes improves the quality and standards of the RP, it also extends them). At the end of the day, I would go back to the headquarters and get ready to rest, but only when all my duties have been carried out.

Character Backstory:
Born in America and raised in the state of Illinois, Matthew came into a loving yet typical family. Going along with the early years of his life, he received a typical education, saw his sister come into the world around the age of nine and went to exceed in his studies through the thought of a better tomorrow. Towards the end of his academics career he would move abroad to Europe to finish his degree in Marketing. Obtaining a job as an Advertiser for a company that sold tools for mechanical work that paid fairly well, life seemed to dredge on fairly well for several years the family he had grown up with had seemed to break apart slowly as he focused more on his work, back home the lack of communication and growing expectations had caused a rift between him and his family. The rift would worsen over time, having disconnected himself from his family he didn't see this as too much of a issue. Hoping things would calm down before he went back, he never had a chance. While driving to the airport and preparing to head back to America, the Portal storms had come.

The Portal storms had taken everyone by surprise and it showed almost everywhere as cars began to drive erratically and as people began running for their lives from the menace from beyond what they could comprehend. Buildings had fallen and bridges had been cut down as he and several thousand people tried to search for sanctuary, while many people pointed towards an old military bunker for safety, others would point to the countryside to wait out the chaos. Choosing to head back to his apartment instead, he would drive back to the city and make it to his apartment and prepare to pack his belongings. Preparations were made and time was running short, and as he continued to bide his time in gathering his things the more risk he'd be in. Taking what he could find he hitched a ride with his friend that lived a few buildings down, making his way to the city of Bristol.

Having bunkered down in his apartment while gunshots flew in every direction on the streets, Matthew began to panic as soldiers and unidentified creatures slaughtered one another. Finding his neighbors in a similar position as himself, he was sent to barricade the front doors and gather supplies from other nearby rooms. As hours passed several people were wounded due to the 'creatures' that had teleported nearby the apartment building, and at the rate people were going down from injuries by the hour it was clear that he would also fall in due time should the fighting continue. As the seventh hour approached, Matthew collapsed from the wounds he had sustained until that point, knocked out unconscious he would wake up to the announcement of Earths surrender.

Matthew's first transfer was to City 18, by this time he had lost all contact with his friends and family and was isolated more than ever before - not that this bothered him however. City 18 was not the type of place for him, but he managed to cope alright. Times were harsh, isolation and loneliness was required to survive. A year later, his second transfer occurred.
City 45 was along the way but this city seemed to be the right type for Matthew, the days were bright and there was simply a different atmosphere to the city.

I feel like the theme for the section is appropriate seeing as how there is a section for mapping, it would be good if a coding section was added and perhaps it could have (mostly) lua and maybe some others.

I'm sure most of you, if not all are aware of this. The effects displayed around the stunsticks when they are raised can be seen through walls, I'm not sure if this can be fixed but it sure would be nice to have this bug removed without having to erase the effects.

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
My character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority because he feels that he owes the Universal Union and the CCA a great amount of gratitude simply due to the fact that they rescued him and his family from the collapsed shopping mall where they were hiding when the 7 Hour War began.

Spawny's father, Liam was a great influence to him. As a young boy Liam would always send Spawny on small errands, but they got bigger as he grew up. He learnt most of what he knows from his now-possibly-dead father, and he wishes to carry on his work by assisting the CCA since he is good at receiving and executing orders from higher authority. He is also good at giving out orders without hesitation, which may be useful if Spawny becomes a higher rank unit.

Currently, Spawny Reed is a loyalist. He is proud of wearing the loyalist armband that was given to him by the union, but still - he believes that it is not enough to wear the armband on its on as they have done him a great deed, this is one of the main reasons as to why he truly believes that he has to join the CCA. He is highly respectful and proud of the units that he sees everyday, he is thankful to them for taking care and looking after the city.

Ever since the Combine came to Earth, Spawny has seen them as the saviors of man-kind, seeing as how they are helping it develop, thanks to their guidelines and rules but also their advanced technology and high knowledge. He believes that by joining the CCA he will make a difference on how the UU runs, he wants to help the Union develop just as they helped man-kind grow.
It almost feels like a legacy for him, like he was bound to join them some-day.
As a child he was always taught about loyalty, respect and responsibility. He's had it with him every day of his life and now wants to put it to use.
He is prepared and dedicated enough to give up his own life for the city and its citizens, but to also punish those who do not obey the guidelines, rules and commands of the UU and higher authorities of the CCA.

Spawny is stern, loyal, responsible, reliable, stoic and he likes to feel involved.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
For my character:
Spawny is hoping that by joining the Combine Civil Authority he will feel like his life is not going to waste, seeing as how he wants to help those who rescued him from the shopping center when the 7 Hour War stuck on Earth. He seems to believe that the Universal Union are very sophisticated and loyal with/to each other. Loyalty and respect is something he has always looked up to, even as a child.

He knows that there will be risks in joining up with the Union, but he thinks that they have done good to man-kind and so he wishes to pay them back with his own life. He is dedicated and prepared to give up his own life in order to further develop, improve and ameliorate the CCA.


For me:
I have been part of the Combine Civil Authority on other servers (such as RoleNation, kuromeku's, Aperture Roleplay, TnB) and have had a really great experience and many memorable moments. It has been slightly over half a year since I decided to join up CG and I am eager to apply for a different role for the HL2RP server because mainly I feel like it's time to play a more in-depth character.

I am hoping to have a pleasant, fun roleplay experience, and to get to know a lot more people in the community.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Spawny Reed was born within a middle-class family in Canada, his father worked for the government in the environmental section and his mother helped with the raising of the house. Spawny's life proceeded as normal, he finished primary school and high school with average grades, and decided to study Computer Science in college. At the beggining of college he started playing paintball and also met Laura, who would then become his girlfriend. Life was going good for him, he had somewhat good grades in college, he played paintball every weekend with his friends and had a great relationship with Laura.

When the portal storms begun, Spawny was at home, getting ready to go out to the cinema. No one really knew what was going on, but a gut feeling made his father grab the car and try to get out of the city. Unfortunately, he wasn't the only one who came up with that idea and as they approached the highway at full speed they were forced to pull-up since there was a huge car bottleneck. With no chance of reaching the outskirts of the city now, the whole family went to a shopping centre a few blocks away and decided to stay there until the "fake thunderstorm" finished. A few minutes after they entered the centre several gunshots and explosions were heard along with the thunderstorm; not a single person inside knew what was going on, but they decided to stay inside until they believed the streets were clear for them to go out. A few hours passed until the gunshots ceased, but they were forced to stay longer since Spawny's mother was having a nervous breakdown, later that day Spawny stayed taking care of his mother while his father went out of the shopping centre to see what was going on. What he saw on the streets desolated him, though Spawny never knew what it was, he didn't say a single word about what he saw, but he became paranoid, he wouldn't let anyone in the family leave until someone came to rescue them. Spawny could have left whenever he left liked, but the paranoia his father had and his mother's susceptibility to another nervous breakdown kept him inside for a month and a half. They didn't have to worry about food or drink since they had everything they needed to survive inside the shopping centre.

 After about 15 hours of being isolated from the outside world along with his family, the sound of a vehicle convoy in the distance was heard, and it stopped just a few metres away from the collapsed shopping centre. As the doors were blasted down with explosives, a group of masked figures with black suits rushed inside and claimed themselves to be part of their new benefactors. Spawny looked them upside down, not trusting their identity, but as he looked outside he noticed that the vehicles of the convoy looked like military equipment; his father noticed this aswell and seemed to come out of his paranoia, greeting them as if they were some kind of messiah. His mother also looked a bit more relaxed because of these so called benefactor's presence, and so did most of the people that were living along with them all this time. They were all told that they'd be relocated to different safe havens around the world, and due to the lack of any real authority but them, they all decided to follow them. They were loaded inside drop-ships which were powered by some sort of dark matter unknown to man, which already had people from other zones inside and then transported to a nearby trainstation. All the "citizens" as they were all called were assigned the number of the "city" (the real name of those safe-havens were not known at the time). Spawny was to be relocated to City 45, while his parents were going to City 32.

Before loading the trains he was able to catch a glimpse of Laura, his so-called girlfriend, but he couldn't talk to her; he was shocked. She looked different, as if she was psychologically traumatized. Shivers ran down her body constantly, her skin was as pale as a dead body. That's the last he saw of her.


Spawny's train arrived at some docks, in which a huge boat was about to sail. He was told to board the ship, and he spent roughly 17 hours oversea until he arrived to a place which he believed to be northern Europe for what he'd been told. He boarded another train and travelled for about another 4 hours, during which he experimented a deep depression, since he finally understood that he was probably never going to see his family nor his girlfriend. During his journey to his new home he considered several times opening the cart window and throwing himself out in an attempt to end his now miserable life, but a part of his consciousness prevented him from commiting suicide. When he reached the City, he left the train and was given an apartment number inside a complex known as "Civil Housing Apartments". He spent a week isolated in his apartment, only leaving to retrieve the rations that were given out daily. He couldn't sleep for the whole week, and believed this new life to be worthless, to be an illusion, a lie. He classified himself as a prisoner. The thought of committing suicide once again crossed his mind as some kind of solution to what he called a horrid dream, he went on with these suicidal tendencies for the whole week, but could never end his life. He finally fainted due to the lack of sleep and was blacked for a bunch of hours. Spawny woke up and felt a consuming hunger, so he went out and sat in front of the ration distribution center, waiting for it to open. As the hours passed, he saw several masked figures which looked exactly like the ones that rescued him and his family from the shopping centre, they were called "Civil Protection". Spawny listened for once to one of the Civil Administrator's speeches, encouraging the citizens to join the Civil Protection Team. He saw this proposal as an opportunity to start anew, to finally have something worth living for; to forget everything about his depression, to leave his old life and finally become part of the society that he was now part of, he finally found an escape of those thoughts that haunted him for so many weeks.

I've been playing on roleplaying servers for around 7 years altogether. Garry's Mod is not the only game I have roleplayed on, before I bought this game I used to play on roleplaying WoW servers and also some CS (1.6 and Source) Jailbreak servers.

7. WhatÂ’s your most memorable quality RP experience?
This was not on a CG server, this happened on kuromeku's HL2RP server.

I was logged as my CCA unit; nothing seemed strange that day, I was patrolling - like usual, when suddenly I heard a loud alarm blast coming from the top of the city nexus. I had only ever heard that sound once before, back when I was a citizen. Diseased creatures were reported to be scattering around and inside the city walls. It brought back bad memories, many died so I knew this was as serious.

I heard distant explosions coming from behind the Civil Housing Apartments, I would've gone in myself to try and stop whatever trouble there was inside in order to avoid losing so many units in combat, but I was commanded to group up by higher authority so I compelled and did as ordered. We marched to the armory and supplies room inside the nexus and got ourselves geared up for whatever was causing trouble, as we shattered the locked doors of the housing apartments we found deep holes in the walls leading to outside the city walls - an escape plan by anti-citizens, perhaps? Never had I seen something as abysmal as those long tunnels that were perforated on the walls of the very own apartments of clueless innocent citizens.

Fast forward a few minutes, I find myself captured by the Lambda Movement rebels. My superiors, all dead. They were massacred in combat trying to keep peace in the city.

I was locked up in a room with nothing but rough concrete walls that were 20 meters thick, or at least they seemed to be. They hadn't tied me, stupid move on their part. One of the rebels turned on the lights of the room and starting walking towards where I was, I suppose he wanted information - he didn't get none.
I knew at the time that it was either my life, or possibly the life of the many innocent citizens and lots of potential recruits and higher rank units. I took out a knife which I had for cutting ties, it was a dull blade but it worked. The only option left for my was to stab myself to death or to harm the Union by giving out information.

(I actually drank bleach until I died but we all roleplayed it as me stabbing myself to death).

I abide tightly by the Union's guidelines and rules and never intend to stand against them, thus I have never been detained or been apprehend for a Sociostability Infringement.

Yes, I do.

Yes, as the Universal Union has served a great deal to man-kind and its development.
