IC Character Name: Jake Franklin
1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so. Jake Franklin is very committed to becoming a part of the Combine Civil Authority for many reasons. One of which is the organization and selflessness of the men and women who hold fast to the Universal Union of which that saved the human race from their own inevitable self inflicted destruction. This drive that Jake has to join a system of which has been unmatched in superiority and strength and which will be for decades to come is what pushes Jake Franklin to be the outstanding and loyal citizen of City 45 that he is today. His profound respect for organized, simple, and worry free life of being a loyal citizen has given him such a peaceful state that he hasn't experienced in years.
Before the war when Jake used to live in Pikesville the occasional mugging in broad daylight was a regular occurrence. It was always very hard for Jake to see no one even lift a finger to help, sometimes he ponders what would happen if the police actually prevented the crimes instead of just reporting them after they happened. Even his own foster uncle that owned a barber shop used to get hassled for "protection" by the local street thugs. The old man pleaded with the thugs and tried to stall them from doing any harm to his shop but those pleas fell on death ears, two days later the unthinkable happened.
It was an early Sunday morning Jake was with his uncle helping cleaning his shop while he was giving haircuts to familiar faces that they all knew. Two men walk into the shop with black masks one wore a leather jacket and all black clothes with a chain in one hand and a small knife in the other hand. The other male was very similar to his partner with a leather jacket all black clothes but held a Glock 19. The man with the gun yelled "Everyone on the ground" and shot into the ceiling, we all went to the ground without hesitation. But one elderly man around 70 did not, he stood up behind the two and pulled out a snub nose .38 SPL. It all happened in a flash, Jake heard two loud shots and sees both of the men hit the ground with the man standing there. This off duty cop had just saved the lives of Jake, his uncle, and everyone in the shop by just being there. Jake realized now that it was not the police that were the problem but it was the unruly and rouge citizens that were not productive members of society that were the problem and had to be removed from society under any means necessary.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character. RP in general is simple and to the point where you have a selected amount of choices and boundaries you have and can expand in with your character. But as a CCA it's different and more difficult that being said it would also be a more enjoyable one after you learn the guidelines . I find the personality loss through the stages of promotions to be great for RP in which I would have to continuously change my characters lifestyle and how he will react to his peers. That being said it will be a slow and gradual change that would be an awarding new door to open for my characters role play experience including my own.
Jake has always saw the Universal Union as a saver from humanities wars and problems ever since he read his first UU book many years ago. He feels that the Nexus would be an organized and clean place including the CP that are a part of it. Jake finds the disorganized and dirtiness of District 6 compared to District 1 to be a clean distinction of the superiority of the UU way of life. Jake feels that the switch will not be a difficult one and is anxious to learn more about the UU and how to live his life protecting it.
4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words. Jakes mother Mary Franklin abandoned him and his brother at birth at St. Josephs Orphanage in Minnesota. She left her real name and a phone number along with our full names so that we might one day find her again. Jake was adopted on April 23rd, 1993 to a Russian family at the age of 8 and lived in a small apartment local to the orphanage. His foster parents became hit with depressing news of a relative that died a few days prior. They took this very hard and made the decision to move more closely to my foster mothers side of the family in Pikesville Maryland. Jake lived among Russian immigrants and speakers very happily for 11 years until the day everything went to hell on November 16th, 2004.
Jake had recently been working on a taxi that had been brought into the shop for a transmission change. But something caught his eyes outside the shop, just the reflection of flashing lights and muffled sounds. He goes outside and can clearly hear the sounds of artillery and explosions all around him. He looks up and sees thousands of ships in an outstanding formation while in combat. He was fixed on watching the ships fight but then it hit him, what about his family? Jake runs 3 blocks down main street and turns left at a barber shop that his uncle worked at. Going down a few more blocks until he sees his apartment complex. Never had Jake felt so alone and sick to his stomach when he saw the charred remains of the apartment building his family lived in. This was the first time that Jake had ever cried so profoundly and with such passion about his whole life gone, the people who cared for him killed without a moments notice. He knew he had to escape, he had to survive.
He ran back to his shop and took the taxi off the elevated platform and drove north. He found himself watching people dying before his eyes, people begging for help and massive migrations of worn down and defeated families just trying to escape. This will be the last time he will ever see a living and moving human for a very long time. Jake found himself on dirt roads in forests with no one around. After debating about what he will do he decided to ditch the taxi and find a new home in the forest so he can survive and forever mourn the loss of his family.
From 2004 to 2006 he hid and scavenged from empty town to empty town looking for food and supplies while desperately trying to hide from the combine. On the faithful day of March 19th 2006 Jake found himself extremely weak and malnutritioned. After 2 years of scavenging towns in the forest and being isolated from everyone he began to start having black outs for extended periods of time. He had no idea of what was going outside his forest or what the combine were doing to people.
It was a foggy morning on March 21st, 2006. Jake had thought he scored by finding massive amounts of berries the night before but he was so very wrong. He had insomnia throughout the night including tremors and extreme headaches. Jake realized now that he had eaten something poisonous so he threw up what was left of the berries. It came to his head that he isn't going to live like this for long. For hours he pondered ideas of his suicide but his profound curiosity of the combine took the better of him and he began walking more west into the mainland.
After about 9 hours of continuous walking he was on his last ropes, forcing his legs left and right with such a commitment to search for what he has been hiding from for 2 years. He comes to the fourth town that he had searched for the combine. He hears something fly over him it was too fast to see what it was exactly this excited him and he kept moving forward. After a few minutes he spots a vehicle about a half mile away from him drove up and parked in the middle of the commercial area of the town and about 5 men with masks and armor jump out of the car and into the closest building. He runs to them with every last weak muscle he had in his body to save his life. This is the fastest he has ever ran in his life in this short moment he had flashbacks about his family and sees finally a future for himself. Jake was about 20 yards away from the vehicle but then it happened. He felt everything go numb, he hits the side walk like a bag of bricks and lets out a gasping sigh, in the last moments before he blacked out he could feel everything getting cold and just stares at the vehicle.
Then it stopped, Jake was laying there in complete cardiac arrest without a hope in the world to save him. But a young recruit was watching the whole thing from the building, he took pity on this man who was so motivated and so committed to join this way of life. The recruit persuaded his squad leader to give medical care to the man after a few minutes of intense arguments. They transported the male to City 18 where he was put into a UU medical institute where Jake stayed in a coma for two years.
On June 2nd, 2008 Jake woke up and found himself in a dim cold room alone, he goes to the door and opens it. There he sees a young beautiful woman in the hallway, she must of been a nurse. The moment they made eye contact she screamed and dropped the papers she was holding. The attending doctor heard the scream from the other room. He sees Jake and says nothing but "My God..." Jake had just woken up from 2 years of being alone in a room. He applied through the regular citizenship forms. After a week or so he met the beautiful nurse that took care of him for two years. They talked for hours and hours about where each other was from and their interests, it's safe to say that they clicked with each other in the first few minutes. They kept a secret relationship for years so she can remain as a nurse because neither of them wanted to jeopardize each others lives.
Jake didn't meet the young recruit that saved his life until November 27th 2010. Jake was walking around and found a man unconscious in a dark alley, Jake pulls out his request device and calls for help. Only one CP came, he looked at Jake without moving a muscle and only said one thing "this is a lot how I met you". They were both locked in eye contact completely frozen and unaware of the nurses and doctors rushing to help save the man. After they left the CP got messaged on the radio and all he said was "Yes sir, on route" and walked away. Jake still frozen and amazed about what just happened took a seat and just tried to absorb what just occurred.
For the next years Jake had been helping people and the CP however he could, and volunteered to help with the CWU mainly just cleaning. He never really committed himself to join the workforce because he was content with what little he had and his relationship with Ana. But on January 16th, 2016 everything changed and Jakes life was never the same.
Jake was sitting on a bench next to the CWU waiting for it to open so he could do his duties. But an old man walked up and sat next to him, he reeked of alcohol and probably hadn't bathed in weeks. After a few moments of awkward silence he pulls out an empty bottle and smashes on the metal arm rest of the bench. Jake jumps up from the noise, the old man grabs the largest piece of the bottle and began to cut himself. "Stop! Don't do this to yourself!" yelled Jake, he notices that the man is unresponsive so he tackles him and struggles to stop the man from cutting himself. The old man didn't say a word and was so very committed to end his life. Jake hears someone in the apartments above scream and moments later a squad of CP comes and separates the two. Jake felt relieved that the CP came and stopped the man from taking his life but he was so very wrong. "Face the wall" yelled the officer, Jake still exhausted from the struggle says nervously " But you have it wrong I was just trying to sa-". The officer hits him square in the face with his baton and Jake fell to the ground unconscious. He was taken away and when he finally woke up he was interrogated for hours on end pleading to the CP that he was just trying to help and stop the man from taking his life. Jake was thrown into a cell and he was positive he was either going to get amputated or put to death. We have not seen Jake in such a deep sadness like how he is feeling now since he lost his family.
Two days passed and Jake came to peace with being killed for what he didn't do. They took him outside, he was expecting a noose and a crowd of people. But it was just them alone in the plaza marching toward the train station. The head officer slides open the train door and sat Jake down next to other people. All of the CP leave the train but one. "Goodbye Jake" said the remaining officer as he slowly walked out. Jake couldn't believe what he heard and saw he thought it was a dream but he felt the train move and saw the remaining CP marching back to his squad. Jake thinks to himself "Could that of been....?" Never in this cruel new world has anyone been so kind and so helpful to him. Unknown to Jake this train was going to City 45 where the life he lived in City 18 dies and his new one begins.

What�s your most memorable quality RP experience?It was on another HL2RP server a couple years ago in which the CP raided my apartment and found contraband, the punishment resulted in me being thrown out of my apartment window. Luckily a friendly citizen saw what happened and carried me back to her apartment and began to operate on me including her friends until I was able to walk again a few hours later.
