Applications / Vegas' Authorization Application

Player Section

Steam Name: Vegas
How long have you been roleplaying? (can be any game): 4-5 years
How long have you been playing Garry's Mod serious roleplay?: 4-5 years

Character Section

Authorization(s): Capital D, T flags, c flags (adv dupe and adv. tooltrust, and chairs)

Name: Ideally flags would be global.
Age: N/A
Gender: N/A
Affiliation: 1 CWU, 1 MPF, 1 Resistance, 1 freelance.

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations. N/A

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects? +Ability to save Cafe setups/furniture, as well as offices and kitchens.
+Ability to make cafes easier using stacker, and make things look symmetrical using precision alignment.
+Ability to make offices using chairs, instead of having to stand behind my desk.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?  I plan to establish cafes without having to spend an extra 10-15 minutes each time to set them up, as well as being able to furnish offices/kitchens without having to reset everything. I will also make things look neater thanks to adv. tooltrust.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s)) No.

Extra Notes (optional): Seeing as how I am able to get a Metropolice Unit and a CWU worker, as well as the responsibility of being the 'leader' of the leading slums group, I believe I can handle the ability to use the Adv. Duplicator/Adv. Tooltrust flags without abusing them. Chairs explain themselves, they're just chairs, and it will also allow me to manipulate chair props using my physgun to make offices look better.

EDIT: Added T to applied flags

EDIT2: Added c to applied flags

EDIT3: Made D flags global.

Suggestions / CW: Phase Four
« on: April 14, 2014, 08:20:50 PM »
I suggest we make a server running Phase Four. It's a fun gamemode, and if we administrate it properly, it can be semi-serious. You can RP or not if you want. It's relatively easy to modify from what I've seen, you can add armors and guns to it. The basis is it's DarkRP, but with armor and on Clockwork.
It's rather easy to administrate, most of the population will be AFKing with printers. It'd be a split off of fully serious RP and into semi-serious roleplay. The idea is, you can choose whether or not to roleplay if we go with semi-serious.
Vote and explain your thoughts below, this is not an official poll unless Rofl decides he wants it.

Bug Reports / PAC Prop Size
« on: April 13, 2014, 10:05:10 PM »
You can't resize props in PAC. You can resize sprites and certain models ex. the PAC prop ball, the first thing that spawns when you spawn a prop, and you can resize your character. However, you can't change the size of most things.

Forum Games / Roll the Dice (RTD)
« on: April 08, 2014, 08:20:19 PM »
not sure if anyone has ever played these before, one person GMs and rolls 1-X on a random number generator to decide the outcome of the people playing's actions
pretty much an example is;
guy A wants to walk down stairs
GM rolls a 1d20, gets a 1, guy tumbles down stairs and breaks his ankle
guy B wants to cut some guy with a knife, GM rolls 1d20, gets a 20, he cuts the guy's head off
roll for anything and everything
not sure if anyone is interested but i'll set it up anyway, fill out character sheet if interested
Code: [Select]
Name:
Sex:
Race (can be not a human):
Inventory (3 sub-par items, ex frayed rope, rusty shiv, this wont be affected by initiative roll):
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Class:
Classes: Pick a class in the venue of rogue, warrior, magician, etc. and I will give you equipment based off of it. Make up your own and state what kind of gear you'd like. (no dumb shit as per rule 2)
Strengths explained:  2 strengths minimum, 1 strong point, strength = +1 to rolls, strong point = +2 to rolls in this nature, you can have more than 2 strengths but only 1 strong point and for every strength you need 1 weakness
Weaknesses: 2 weaknesses minimum, 1 fatal flaw, weakness = -1 to those rolls, fatal flaw = -2 to rolls in that nature, 1 weakness for every strength.
i'll allow drop-ins while its in session, feel free to join up at any time, i'll be GMing
Rules:
1. Listen to the GM
2. Don't do dumb shit (i'll tell you if its dumb)
3. If 3/4 of the roster inputs actions, I will roll for them unless in a group scenario ex. combat.
4. I reserve the right to roll at any time, and will most likely roll at least once every 24 hours.

godspeed

Roster:
Vengeance - Tony the Gorilla
Misty - U'han the Lion Man
Statua - Gerry the Human
Zombie - Hanker the Goblin
Channy - Hodon the Orc
NRK - Dagwa the Demon
Yak - Rock and Spooge the Twin-Headed Ogre
Red - Asameir the Human
Hazard - Antimony the Human
Dixon - Orion the Minotaur

EDIT: I will be rolling 1-20 on random.org to decide outcomes unless the roll calls for something larger, ex. deciding the setting.

EDIT: Added 'class' to character sheet. I'd recommend everyone editing their char sheets based off of this.

Authorization(s): Cane blade. (twist the handle, sword comes out of the tip)
Golden ring.

Name: Colombo Beniamino
Age: 57
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Slums/Rebellion

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations. Born in Sicily, 1962, Colombo Beniamino was your average child. He was birthed into a relatively high-class family, due to their connections to the Mafia. Strange men would come by periodically, dropping off packages. His parents would leave without notice, and come back weeks later.
They lived in a mansion, as this was promptly after the 'economic miracle'. His grandfather, however, was Colombo's favorite. He would always show him his collections of odds and ends, including antiques from the wars. His grandfather always had a cane leaning against the wall whenever Colombo came over, which was oddly never used.

One day, as he was over at his grandparent's house, his grandfather had to go check on something outside. As soon as he was out of the door, Colombo went over to the cane leaning on the wall. Being a curious teenager, he picked it up and inspected it. It was in perfect condition, obviously the wood was being polished periodically. The handle seemed oddly detached, seperated from the rest by a brass band. He grabbed the handle and felt it spin a little bit in his hand. A glint of metal flashed in the corner of his eye. He looked down, and the tip of a knife was coming out of the bottom of the cane. He slowly twisted the handle, curious. As he did, the knife slowly evolved into something more - A sword. He heard a noise, and tilted his head up. The doorknob was turning. He quickly spun the handle the other way, and set it up on the wall the best he could. His grandfather walked back into the room, and, fortunately, didn't notice anything.

6 years later, Colombo is working the cash register at a corner store. An odd man stalks in, a hat pulled over his eyes, wearing a suit. He approaches the register instantly, not pausing to grab anything. He knocks on the counter twice, a hollow sound resonating. Colombo looks at the man, and tilts his head slightly. The man begins to talk;
"You're Mr. Beniamino?"
"Yes, I am. Who are you?"
"I'm a... friend, of your grandfather, Domenico. He has recently passed and has some items for you. Come to the docks by 7. Don't be late."
The man knocks on the counter again, and leaves without giving Colombo time to speak.

After clocking out of his shift at 6:30, Colombo begins walking down the streets to the docks. The sun is setting, and the streets are relatively empty. It's late November, a sharp chill putting the hair on Colombo's neck up. After he finally arrives at the docks, at 6:50, the sun has completely set. There are two men wearing hats over their eyes wearing suits, and another man wearing a suit. They all have gloves and dress shoes. The man without a hat has gray hair, and leaning on a cane.
Colombo glances between the men. One of the men wearing a hat pulls a bag off of his back. He tosses it in front of the gray haired man.
"Come here." the gray haired man says.
Colombo slowly steps forward, his shoes clapping against the cobbled floor. The man gets on one knee, opening the bag. He pulls out three items; a spotless golden ring, a box, and finally; the cane that used to lean against his grandfather's wall.

Colombo's eyes widen a little bit as he recognizes the cane. The man extends his arm, the ring atop the box. Colombo grabs the box, his hands shaking slightly. He then grabs the cane.
"He also had a message for you." the gray haired man says to Colombo.
"What is the message?"
"Don't forget who you are."
The three men spin on their heels, walking away, their dress shoes loudly slapping the cobblestones.
Twenty years later, Colombo is sitting in his mansion that he bought with half of his inheritance in Kiev, Ukraine just recently. He has yet to find a wife, living alone. He idly spins in his office chair, contemplating all of the events of his life when an abruptly loud bang is heard outside. He rockets to his feet, stepping over to the blinds. He pulls it open, glancing outside. A portal is being ripped into the skies, dropships coming down. A gunship comes out of the skies, and it begins blowing rooves off of houses. Ropes appear to be coming down from the dropships, shapes sliding down them.

Colombo swears, spinning on his heel. He paces across the hardwood floor, arriving at his closet. He opens the door, reaching to the top shelf. He grabs his grandfather's cane and a shovel, hurrying to his yard. He begins rapidly digging, glancing about. The portals are far enough away that he has time. He speeds up the digging, until he has a hole about five feet deep. He shoves the cane in, its perfect condition being tarnished by the dirt, and he buries it. The portals are practically right above him now. He hurls the shovel as far as he can, landing across the street. He sprints around to his back yard, hiding underneath his deck. He shelters his head, curling up into a ball and being as silent as he can.

It's almost a day later, Colombo still hiding underneath the deck. He crawls forward, peering his head around. There is noone in sight, the streets spattered with blood. He crawls out and around his house, glancing around. Everywhere seems to be empty. He looks up now, and sees a spire being formed in the distance. It seems to symbolize a city of some sort. He crawls over to his front yard. The shovel is still there, across the street. He walks over to it, more confident now. He grabs it, walking back to his yard. He begins digging where he buried the cane, reaching down. He pulls it out, shaking loose dirt off of it. He begins going towards the city, not ten miles away.As he draws near, he notices a canal system leading towards the city. It seems mostly dried up. Seeing low ground as probably more safe, he enters the canals.

After following the canals, he ends up in the entry to the 'slums' of the city. He walks in, looking about. There seems to be noone about, most of them probably hiding in their homes. He decides to play it safe, seeing as whatever made this city has either captured or killed everybody. He walks forward, and notices an alleyway. He hobbles over to it, slowly entering. As he nears the end of the alley, he notices that it's empty. He decides that this is a good spot, laying it down in the corner, pulling some cardboard over it. Colombo then leaves the alleyway, deciding to turn himself in.
Colombo leaves the slums, walking out into the heart of the city. A towering man wearing a mask stops him.
"Citizen, apply."
"Apply? What does that mean?"
"Name and citizen identification digits. State them."
"Err.. Colombo Beniamino. What are citizen identification digits?"
"You have not been given an identification card? Follow me, ciizen."
He follows the man, as he leads him to the Nexus. He is then handed his card, and shoved back out into the streets.
Colombo quickly returns to the slums, going back to the same alleyway that he hid the cane in. He had hidden the gold ring in his pocket, so he pulled it out and put it on. He walked over to his cane, pulling the cardboard off of it. He picked it up, and set out of the alleyway to explore what the city held in store for him.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
+Weapon to fight with
+Backstory
+Utility as a blade

-Ring might get stolen
-Mechanism could get stuck.
-Blade would require maintance

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects? I plan to defend the bar that my character runs, as well as use it to create passive roleplay while keeping the blade in good condition.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s)) No.

Accepted / Justin Waller's Metropolice Force Application
« on: March 18, 2014, 06:30:29 PM »
Justin Waller's Metropolice Force Application

OOC Name: Vegas

IC Character Name: Justin Waller

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Metropolice Force and what lead your character to do so.
My character would enjoy joining the Metro Police Force for multiple reasons. One of these reasons is he has respected police officers and those with authority all his life, and wants to be like them. He has always respected the strict ones, and felt that the kind ones were weak.

Another reason would be because he believes that they are required for the city to survive. He believes that there are those out there that must be purged, in order for the others to live. He believes that they are required for the sociostability to be upheld, and order to be kept.

Finally, he wishes to join the MPF for the supplies. The food and the shelter, as well as the money. He wants to be able to supply for himself, instead of relying on others. He doesn't want to be a freeloader, and wants to do something to help.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
 He is loyal to his cause, and can be trusted to keep a secret. He's relatively accurate with a gun, however these skills must be revived via training.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
 I believe it will be a learning experience for my character. I think it will be this way because he will learn how cruel the world actually is, and how in order to get to the top it involves stepping on some people. How only the strong survive, and the meek shall be culled.

I think for me it will be enjoyable, as I always liked playing an MPF character. It should be a memorable experience, and cause some fun times. I hope to get some fun scenarios out of it.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Born in Louisiana, Justin Waller was a slightly violent child. With two siblings, one older, one younger, he was the middle child. He typically picked on the younger one, while the older one picked on Justin.

Justin picked on the younger kids in middle school, however this was quickly stopped by the school principle. The principle was a man, tall and broad shouldered. He'd talk down to the children, which scared Justin. He respected the principle, and did not want to disappoint him. For this reason, he stopped picking on the other children.

Six years later, Justin Waller is 19. He has moved to Ukraine, and is working the corner-store. He's restocking the shelves when he suddenly hears a massive bang outside, the windows shaking in the walls. Justin stands up, walking over to the window. He looks outside, noticing massive portals ripping open in the sky. Gunships and dropships pour out from the portals, the roofs being blown off of houses. A dropship lands directly over the corner-store, a masked soldier rappeling down a rope from the dropship. The unit looks into the store, at Justin. Justin begins rapidly backpedaling, backing up into a corner, beginning to hyperventilate. The unit kicks in the window, approaching him. He's towering over him, when suddenly the world goes black.

Justin awakes in a trainstation in an unknown world known as City 18. He walks outside, looking down the long, artificial, cobble streets. After walking around for a small amount of time, he begins to notice masked people walking around, bearing metal rods hooked up to electrodes. They look intimidating, bearing over most citizens. Soon enough, Justin finds himself in the nexus lobby, applying to join these masked men.

5) Have you ever had a MPF character here at Catalyst Gaming?  If so, explain why it was removed.
Yes, it was removed for inactivity/the hl2rp server went down.

ASSESSMENT #1 - IC situation: You have just been tasked with escorting a VIP (in this case, a Civil Administrator) from the Nexus to the center of the plaza for a speech. It is expected that an attempt will be made on the VIP's life today at an unknown time. A citizen begins to follow your escort group. You suspect that they belong to a rebel group who intend to kill the VIP. How do you approach the situation? Be creative.
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS glances around, looking behind the group and watching the sides.
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS spies a suspicious looking civilian following the group.
(RADIO) OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS: "<:: Civilian following group. He looks connected to the rebel group."
(RADIO) OTA.VANGUARD.#####: "<:: Copy that. Group is suspected to make an attempt on the Administrator's life today."
(RADIO) OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS: "<:: Copy."
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS swivels his head around again, watching the civilian. A bulge is evident on the left side of his jacket.
(RADIO) OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS: "<:: Civilian appears armed, and is continuing to follow. Waiting to engage."
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS spins on his heel, raising his Pulse Rifle up, aiming at the civilian.
** The civilian panics, reaching into his jacket and breaking into a run.
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS taps the trigger a couple of times, sending pulse shots flying towards the civilian.
** The civilian speeds up, ducking down and pulling his hand out of the jacket, holding a 9MM pistol. A shot clips his thigh, sending him tumbling.
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS pauses, re-focusing his aim towards the civilian's head.
** The civilian turns his head, outstretching his hand and slamming on the trigger multiple times.
** The bullets fly, one of them plinking off of OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS' kevlar, leaving an indentation, the rest hitting the wall.
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS double-taps the trigger, two pulses going flying.
** One hits the concrete next to the civilian's head, powder going flying. The other one slams into his forehead, gore splattering across the concrete.
** OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS turns his head side to side, looking for other possible threats.
(RADIO) OTA.VANGUARD.VEGAS: "<:: Threat neutralized, let's move. Send a cleanup crew."
(RADIO) OTA.VANGUARD.#####: "<:: Rodger that."
** The group tromps forward, the OTA's heads swiveling around, more cautious than earlier.
** They arrive at the destination, the Administrator stepping forward to give the speech.
** The OTA continue to scan the crowd infront of them, fingers ready alongside their triggers.

ASSESSMENT #2 - OOC situation: The following scenario has taken place: a player who is in command of a criminal character in possession of hidden contraband was in the process of being handcuffed before they suddenly ran away without any valid RP. A member of the administration team locates and brings the offending player back to where they started. The player does not seem to understand the rules of the server. They are frozen in place while the administrator is sent to deal with an urgent matter. Before the administrator leaves, you are asked to explain to the player about what they did wrong. How do you proceed?
I tell him that this is a serious roleplaying server, and that he shouldn't avoid roleplay like that. I would then ask if he has played HL2 or not, if not, I would summarize the backstory, what the basic characters are (MPF, OTA, UU, etc.). I would answer any questions that he has before reinforcing the fact that he cannot run away while being detained, and then I would refer him to the forums and the rules. I would tell him that for roleplaying to happen, both parties have to agree to not 'failrp', or run away from scenarios. If he refuses to listen, and keeps trying to run away, I would call an administrator, and if they were listening and trying to learn I would tell him that he should learn from experience, and if he needs any help he should PM me or add me on steam.

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Francisco was born and raised in Normandy, France. He lived off the streets as an urchin, a lanky child who was dropped on the streets by his parents when he was 5, as they didn't believe they could take care of him. He was took in by many others who had suffered the same fate he had. Living on the street, they formed a 'gang' devoted to their survival. They banded together, and each took a role. Francisco's role was to pickpocket rich-looking people on the street. When they mean 'rich-looking', they mean literally anyone who had more value than they did. Using his lanky figure, he weaved through the crowds, nimbly grabbing anything he could out of the pockets of the people.

Skipping ahead a few years, Francisco and his 'gang' had amassed enough to keep them alive for another week. A small pile of bread crusts and moldy sausage bits, the same meal every week. Francisco was quickly getting tired of this life, and he noticed a circus opening up down the street from his hide-out. Interested, he quickly sneaked into a show and watched from the shadows. The first act came out, a clown juggling ping-pong balls. The crowd quickly bored of this, as did Francisco, and the clown sadly walked off the stage. The next act came out, the acrobats. They began doing flips across the stage, twisting their feet behind their head, and even tight-rope walking. The crowd was amazed by their flexibility and agility, and Francisco too was enchanted by their swift movements, imagining himself collecting 10 euros after a show for doing 10 flips. As he watched the acrobats perform, he thought to himself 'I'm going to be just like them, rich and not eating crumbs!' So after the show, he walked up to the ringmaster, a fat chubby bloke wearing a top-hat and a blue tuxedo. He looked like he was living the rich lifestyle. Francisco asked if he could become an acrobat. The ringmaster looked down at the frail boy and chuckled heartily.
'You? YOU become an ACROBAT? Not in a million years!'
Francisco was desperate. He looked up the man and said;
'Please! I can change! I'll work for half price, and I'll clean up the ENTIRE circus after a show!'
The ringmaster looked down at the boy, and said;
'Hmm.. How can I take YOUR word for it?'
Francisco told the man his entire story, from when he was born to where he is standing now. The ringmaster looked down at the frail boy with a new look. A look of pity. Never had he felt bad for a street urchin. Feeling sorry for the boy, he accepted his offer. Francisco returned to his 'gang', telling them the news. They all looked a bit sad to see a companion leave, but they were also happy to get his share of the rations. Francisco left the hide-out to go stay at the circus.

A week later, Francisco is beginning his training. The first trick they have him learn is how to do a cartwheel. They have him begin by standing on his left foot, and overbalancing himself attempting to land on his hands. He fails several times, but on his seventh try, he finally manages to touch the ground with his left hand, but then he slips and lands on his face. His teacher looks down at him, and says;
'We have made some progress today, how about we try again tomorrow?'
That night, Francisco dreamed about his new career, sleeping on the safety net under the tightrope. He dreamed of himself finally being able to do a cartwheel and being congratulated by the entire circus!

The next morning, Francisco woke up to the ringmaster under the net, raising up a mop and shouting;
'Wake up you fool! It's a new day, and there's an entire pen of elephant dung to clean up!'
Francisco groaned, rolling out of the net onto his nimble feet and taking the mop. He walked into the elephant den, scooting his way between the elephants and mopping up their old dung and thinking about his dream. In the daydream, he accomplished the cartwheel, and turned the cartwheel into a flip, and the flip into an entire show. He was rolling in money, proving himself not low enough to have to clean up elephant dung. He snapped back to reality when he slipped on a pile of elephant dung, landing on his back. A passing clown turned and pointed and laughed, causing one of the strongmen to come over and laugh at the frail boy lying on his back in the elephant pen. Embarrassed, he got up and brushed himself off before going back to his duty. After the job was done, he went to his trainer, still slightly stained with the elephant's dung. The trained greeted him warmly, and said;
'Ready to begin the training?'
Francisco nodded heartily, and begain attempting cartwheels again. After another few tries, he managed to get halfway there, landing on a handstand for a second, before falling onto his back. Heartened by the progress, he got back up and tried again, managing to complete a full cartwheel, but unable to land the recovery, falling on his face. Another few tries, and he could complete an entire cartwheel.

The days began to merge after that, improving his cartwheels into flips, and the other acts were a blur, with the exception of one act. Knife throwing. Francisco was given a knife one day, and told to throw it at a board and hit it dead center. He looked at the teacher with confusion. What did throwing knives have to do with being in a circus? The teacher, seeming to read his mind, responded;
'In case the crowd one day gets tired of the acrobatics, you must have a backup act. For this circus, and for you, it is knife throwing.'
Understanding, Francisco threw the knife, but it landed completely off center, on the edge of the board. The teacher swiftly retrieved it and said
'How about we try again?'
Francisco accepted the knife, and threw it again. Again, it landed off center, but this time his aim was a little bit better. They repeated this for another ten times, each time his aim slightly improving. On the eleventh time, he accepted the knife, and the teacher told him incentive.
'If you can hit that target dead center, I will give you twenty euro cents.'
With that in mind, Francisco went back to the knife throwing with a new vigor. Over the next ten tries, he hit it dead center once, and, owning up to his word, the teacher handed over twenty euro cents. They both decided that was enough for one day, and Francisco, wondering what all the signs around the circus meant, and wondering how many cartwheels he should do for an act, he went to the ringmaster and asked if he could be taught how to read and count. The ringmaster looked down at the quickly improving boy, and said;
'Hmm.. I don't know, what is in it for me?'
Francisco looked up at the ringmaster and said;
'One euro for each lesson.'
The ringmaster nodded, and said;
'Well, I'll accept that. Come with me to my quarters.'
They went back to the ringmaster's quarters, and Francisco sat down. The ringmaster pulled out one of the old circus signs that said; 'NORMANDY CIRCUS; NOW OPEN!' and said to Francisco;
'What does this say?'
Francisco looked at it in confusion, and said;
'Well, sir, I don't know.'
The ringmaster nodded, and pointed to the word 'Normandy', beginning with the letter N. He said to Francisco;
'This is the letter N. You pronounce it like this; N.'
Francisco repeated after him;
'N'.
They went through all the letters on the sign, and before you knew it, Francisco knew how to read the words 'NORMANDY CIRCUS NOW OPEN'. Francisco coughed up the euro to the ringmaster, and went back to his teacher. He asked if he could learn how to do other tricks to earn money outside of the circus. The teacher nodded and they sat down at the table, the teacher pulling out the throwing knife. He showed it to the boy and said;
'I'm going to teach you how to play a gambling game.'
Francisco nodded eagerly, gesturing for him to continue. The teacher said;
'This game is called Five-Finger Fillet. To play it, you stab the spaces in-between your fingers as fast as you can without cutting yourself. Whoever can do it the longest without cutting themselves, wins. It is a game of skill.'
Francisco, already good with hand-eye coordination and agility, was interested. The teacher pulled out a dull knife and handed it to Francisco. He offered to play a round, no bets. They practiced the game for a little while, Francisco and the teacher being able to go on for well over a minute. They both increased the speed, and after 30 minutes of practice, Francisco challenged him to a bet:
'Teacher, we shall play with a bet; fifty euro cents for each win.'
The teacher, knowing that the boy was poor, accepted the bet. They played a game, and Francisco, with his greed, was compelled to win. He did not give up, even when the possibilities of losing were high. He won several matches in a row, his hand-eye coordination that was already amazing improving even more. Deciding that was enough for one day, they both packed up and went to their sleeping quarters. Francisco laid down again on the safety net, and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Francisco had to clean up elephant dung again. This time however, he managed to not slip. He went back to his teacher, continued practicing his back-flips, and then afterwards asked him to help him practice throwing knives again. Due to the game of five-finger fillet they had played, his hand-eye coordination was even better, and he managed to hit the target dead on three times in a row. Owning up to the loss, the teacher handed over 60 euro cents. Francisco went back to the ringmaster, and had another lesson in reading. This time, however, he also was taught how to count from one to five. They practiced this by counting his cartwheels. He learned how to speak the words in another sign, and then coughed up the one euro again. He went back to the teacher, and said;
'Teacher, I wish to make another bet. We will play five-finger fillet, and if I win, I get to keep the throwing knife.'
The teacher accepted, knowing that the boy could become perfect with enough practice. They played the game, and it was very close, Francisco lasting two minutes and twenty three seconds, and the teacher lasting two minutes and twenty one seconds. Francisco left with the throwing knife, and he thought about how he was doing. He thought; I have a nice routine set up, in which he learned how to read, count, gamble, and perform, and still make a profit. Francisco was going to be able to live an easy life.

A few years later, several shows, and learning how to count up to 100, making fifty euros net profit, how to gamble, and how to read, Francisco exited the circus, now going by the alias 'Espio'. Using his fifty euros, he spent ten on a butterfly knife that he would learn to love. He became a street urchin once again, practicing with his butterfly knife in alleyways, now able to throw a throwing knife at a target from five meters and hit it dead on. He could play five-finger fillet for up to five minutes straight. He was going to try to learn how to slash with a knife, in case he was robbed by another street urchin. He would practice cutting up old trash from dumpsters and pretending they were robbers. With each day, his cuts were becoming more precise and quick. To make enough money to live off, he would play five-finger fillet at the nearby pub, using the earnings to buy a loaf of bread and some old cheese for a euro. He was excellent, almost never losing a game. One day, however, he beat an angry drunk again, and the drunk stood up and barked something about Espio cheating. Francisco stood up, worry in his eye, and exclaimed that he had never cheated. and never would. The man angrily stumbled towards Francisco, and without warning, swung his fist at Francisco's head. Francisco, his years of agile training paying off, slipped easily under his fist and moved behind him. Francisco said something along the lines of 'You don't want to do this' in a hasty manner, but the drunk was not going to have any of it. He turned around again, swinging his fist in an uppercut, and Francisco said 'I don't want to do this' as he sidestepped the drunk and swiftly whipped out his butterfly knife. He swished it around a bit, hoping to scare the drunk, but he was un-intimidated by the 17 year old boy. He swung his leg out this time, aiming for a sweep at Francisco's legs. Francisco swiftly jumped over the leg sweep, dropping into a crouch in which he sunk the knife an inch into the man's thigh. The drunk opened his eyes wide in shock, and screamed in agony. He stumbled over to a table, which he leaned on for support. He barked something slurred at Francisco about how 'this isn't done!' and limped out of the bar. Everyone looked over to Francisco, slightly shocked. Francisco sort of shrugged, embarrassed by all the attention. He said;
'Anybody else want to play five finger fillet?'
The entire pub chuckled, and then everyone went back to their business.

Two years later, fifteen euros richer, and yet still faster, Francisco suddenly awoke to a loud BANG! He woke up, lying on the cold alley floor. He got right to his feet, worried that somebody had fired a gun. He ran out of the alley, and looked up to see a massive portal hanging over the skies. Combine ships were pouring out of them. Francisco was terrified. He had never seen anything like it! Running across the street, he tried to find somewhere else to hide. Unfortunately, his way was suddenly blocked by a combine soldier rappelling down in front of him. The soldier briskly raised his rifle, and slammed the butt of it into Francisco's forehead.

The next time Francisco awoke, he was on a train to somewhere called City 17. Worried about what was going to happen to him, and how he had gotten here, he searched his being. He did not find any money except forty odd disks that were in his pocket. He pulled them out, and they had images of a man in a suit smiling on them. Beneath the smiling face, it said 'ONE TOKEN'. Fascinated by the odd disks that were the currency, he pocketed them all again. Searching his being some more, he came along a suitcase. He popped it open to see two more versions of his own jumpsuit he was currently wearing, and some other junk. Frowning, the train suddenly came to a stop. Francisco stood up, closed his suitcase, and got off. He was in the middle of an odd city. Confused, he walked out of the train station and came along a booth with an odd 'fence' blocking the way past. He walked into the line of the booth, and peered down to the front. The man at the very front was saying some profanities in a raised voice at the man in the booth, and suddenly two masked soldiers like the one in the booth came storming through the 'fence', long batons raised and sparking with electricity. They both, without warning, swung them at the insulting man's face, and send him keeling on the ground in agony, writing in pain as he was beaten into a bloody unconsciousness, tied up, and hauled away. Perturbed by the sight, he slowly worked his way through the line until he was at the front. The man in the booth said 'Apply.' in a mechanical voice. Wondering what that meant, he asked the masked man in the booth 'Sorry sir, what does that mean? Where do I sign up?' The man responded by saying 'Name and Citizen ID.' Francisco asked about a citizen ID, and the man responded by saying 'The card you received had a number. What is it?'
Francisco pulled out a card that had been in his pocket, and peered at it. It said #09104. He recited his name, Francisco Howard, and his CID, 09104, to the masked man. He punched in some numbers on a pad he was holding, said 'Clean.' and then the 'fence' seemed to fizzle away. Francisco walked through it, and as soon as he was through the fence seemed to re-materialize behind him. Fascinated by the technology, Francisco walked through the streets until he came to the slums. Stepping inside, he was reminded of back in France, the streets he used to live on. He felt immediately at home, and walked up to another citizen walking about wearing a long coat. He asked him what brought him here. The man said in a low voice 'Business. Business brought me here. You interested?' Francisco shrugged, asking what he meant. The man opened his coat, presenting a range of rusted knives, some of which were broken. Francisco glanced over them, before settling his eyes on one with a smooth handle and a straight blade. It reminded him of the butterfly knife he used to have. He pointed at it and asked; 'How much?' and the man replied with 'Since you look new, I'll say.. Forty tokens. Take it or leave it.' Francisco, delighted, handed over forty tokens and took the knife. He practiced opening and closing it, and thanked the man and walked away, to see a whole new world.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
Agile build and stamina means he can outrun someone and dodge melee weapons better.
Switchblade allows him to take down unarmed enemies who are unprepared, or intimidate unskilled, unarmed citizens.
Knife skills means he can take on someone who just picked up a knife, and is unskilled with it, as well as adds to his intimidation.
Acrobatics helps him dodge.
His nimble feet allow him to conceal himself easily, so long as he doesn't talk.

Defects
Switchblade is not 100% reliable, rust included means it could easily break if abused thoroughly.
Lacks strength, cannot hold his own in a fistfight, so relies on his build to escape, or his knife to fend them off.
Most of his skills were obtained pre-war, so they will be not as good.
Accent may give him away when trying to talk and conceal himself.
His knife skills are not up-to par since he learned them with a different knife.
His quiet footsteps might startle people when he approaches them from behind, making them violently react. His footsteps also aren't entirely silent, just much quieter then the average citizen.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to roleplay in the slums as a lowly criminal, pickpocketing people and possibly joining a small 'gang' with my allies I make ICly. I plan to enhance roleplay for myself and others in the slums through these authorizations, and the knife skills will allow me something to do passively, such as playing five finger fillet and practicing slashing things. The acrobatics could also be done passively, trying to do backflips to refine his old skills. I will not use these to mingerun, troll, or be unrealistic. I am normally the brute, and so I want to play things differently for a change. I will see where my development takes me in terms of rebellion or just being a lowly criminal.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))

  Carlito was a man of strength and always was the 'brute' of his gang. He'd been told by another resistance member that 'the rations starve you outta the nutrients'. Listening to the resistance member, he'd always eaten the healthier food of the resistance, chomping down melons, always being the one that ate the most portions during the infrequent meals. He tried to get the most protein-packed foods that he could, only eating rations when it was absolutely necessary, if ever. He'd always get in his exercise, 10-20 pushups, a couple of situps, then do 3-4 pullups. That was his daily exercise, and it normally accompanied mealtimes.

  One day, he was doing some pushups, then his superior, Rick or 'Snoops' told his of a quarrel he had with a man with a black goatee. Carlito then realized, if they were to quarrel, he would need some sort of improvised weapon. He looked around and noticed that next to the hang out were pipes. Snoops then nodded at Carlito, noticing his interest for them. He then muttered, 'Those are loose, you know,'. Carlito nodded to Snoops, walking over to the pipes. He tried them, and to his surprise, they wobbled about a bit. He quickly put his strength to work, using both hands and a couple minutes of work to pry off a pipe. He finally got the pipe free, and nodded to Snoops. 'So, where's the goateed bastard?'

Well uh, I probably should have done this about a hundred posts ago, but hey, im lazy.

Most people, if not all people here already know me, but I should make a thread to be formal I guess?
