Accepted PK Appeals / PK Appeal (To much hilarity..)
« on: April 01, 2012, 04:55:50 PM »
Steam Name: RapidJuice
Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:16941386
Character Name: Stephen Kane
Admin who issued PK: UU.COTA-STORM.AW.44942, I don't know, he's Overwatch. It masks it.
Reason for Un-PK: I've played here for a long time, never have I demanded for someone's character to be permanantly killed, nor have I ever killed a player's character intentionally, or wished for someone's character to be PK'd. So it was a surprise to me, to come back after 14 or so minutes of studying and playing Batman Arkham City, not even noticing my Garry's mod was still running on my minimised screen. I heard around 10 beeps from the computer, so I came back to see people messaging me to get back in and stop being AFK suddenly, for some reason, so I did. Here's what I saw when I came back from it.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559812102237172881/28DD73C38AC1C15DC5552AE7017480EF619A20A4/
This is a picture of five, six or so Overwatch soldiers who have, while I was AFK, which I stated earlier in the logs, snuck into the bar and aimed their guns at me.
Out of Character for OOC:
Stephen Kane: afk

So, I'm known amongst Civil Protection to be kind of understanding when it comes to Universal Union affairs, I don't get in their way, I support them, for the most part. So, it's April fools day, they're all surrounding me saying "Lol" etcetera talking about "scaring me", so I play along mostly, even though I'm scared WITLESS.
[LOOC] UU.COTA-STORM.AW.44942: then when he comes back scare him
[LOOC] UU.COTA-THETA.OWR.23988: Lol
So I tell them, just continue, I'm outside the Nexus, it's a holiday, they've been waiting for this, so why not? Aslong as, through common human decency, they don't actually kill my character, all is well, they've had their fun, I've let them play along, saying stuff like;
[LOOC] Stephen Kane: xD, nice job guys ;3

So, when I saw
UU.COTA-STORM.AW.44942 permanently killed the character 'Stephen Kane'.
I kind of went like "Woah woah hold on".
I came back from being AFK, literally I needed to stop the AFK timer from kicking me from the server, my Garry's mod was minimised. I hadn't been talking in OOC, like I usually am to tell players the link to the website or whatever help they need, so on their part they knew I was AFK, or could assume. So, after 14-15 minutes I can only assume of them crowding around me, I eventually come back. I could have just let the AFK timer run out, but I didn't since I didn't think it'd be a perma-kill.

Tl;Dr
- They didn't /me or roleplay their shots.
- They didn't /me or roleplay coming in or spotting me, only random radio codes.
- It seems like this is some kind of grudge thing, even though I don't even kill CPs or anything.
- I've played on this server for months, this is my favourite character.
- Common human decency would let me get away without a PK, I've asked around.
- It's April Fool's day, I got bombarded with jokes and tricks earlier, so I thought they were OOC to begin with.
- They all spoke in LOOC as if it was a joke.
- I wouldn't have been there ICly, my character never hangs around the bar, ever. I only use it go AFK because it's dark.
- I would never force a perma-kill on any characters, I would only say NLR. Not even to someone I hated.
- This is the only character I have interest in on the server, I have literally no reason to play otherwise.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / What-ifs
« on: March 22, 2012, 05:07:55 PM »
Kay y'all, since there's so many rules on D6, the areas surrounding it, all that. I'mma make up some questions so you all can answer them with yes/no or whatever you like, but ANSWER THE QUESTION if you're gonna. If not, just write "I dunno" or "No opinion". Players can make their opinions, but admins can state the facts.

1- If a citizen with a weapon outside of D6 for any valid reason, with no intention to use his/her weapon, were to be put into a roleplaying situation which concluded in them in self-defence situation, is that then acceptable for them to utilize the weapon, since they are forced?

2- Is the rule "Units cannot go past this point" for District six, or is it "Units should not go past this point"?

3- Is it acceptable for High Command to be ridiculous sizes, such as 7 foot tall?

4- If for whatever reason, a citizen is shot in the D6 tunnel by a CP, further past where they are allowed, is it alright for them to go and fetch the injured citizen and bring them back?

5- If in the D6 tunnel, a CP fires at an armed citizen first, is it acceptable for them to return fire?

6- If in the subway tunnel, let's say a primary weapon is a citizen's only form of flashlight, is it alright to use this past the "No weapons" point so they do not die on the tracks?

Accepted Outlands Appeals / Stephen Kane's appeal

Steam Name: RapidJuice
Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:16941386
Character Name: Stephen Kane
Reason for the switch: I want my character back in the city since he is my main character and plan to get Gold Membership with him, no offence but Outlands isn't great for buzzing activity. Plus, I had no idea the ramifications of my actions and made the switch out of anger for something which happened to me in my personal life. I understand now the consequences of my actions, and just want to be able to play with my favourite character again on my favourite server. Safe to say if this one doesn't get accepted, the Super Admins will be reading a similar story of longer length next week, then the next, then the next.

If required, write a detailed backstory on how your character left the outlands:
After spending a week in the Outlands, with no friends, no food or water in close supply which wasn't tainted by sewer water or different chemicals, he knew he needed to make a move back to where he came from. Since he was in most cases "Armed to the teeth", he understood that his journey would be much smoother with his Shotgun "Isabella" and 9 Millimetre "Zoey" by his side. He stripped himself, leaving out his equipment while he took a long hard soak in the water which looked cleanest of the most, leaving his briefs on ofcourse. After the short bathe, he looked over his equipment, stripped down the bulletproof Kevlar he had came to know and love. It hardly resembled kevlar anymore, much lighter, but with a space to hold "Isabella" for the time being. He tucked his 9 Millimetre into his trousers, safety ON so there would be no fatal genital mutilation!

He slipped down a small dark walkway, flicking on "Isabella's" frontal torch. After navigating through some of the sewer area, without even a peep of Resistance or Combine activity, he thought he was going in the wrong direction. Until, out of nowhere, an engine began to roar at the opposite end of the tunnel. He hid to the side, finding a small crevice to hide in. It was jagged, metal and rock ripped the side of his uniform, splitting most of the buttons, revealing his bare chest for the world to see. He sighed, digging himself into the crevice and trying to peice together the tattered clothing he held dear. Alas, the engine stopped, being of whatever he could assume to be some kind of patrol, either by Resistance or Civil Protection, he didn't like either. He continued through the tunnel, stepping through what he hoped to be mud, his nose already numb to the smell of the 'Great Outdoors'.

Upon reaching the exit of the tunnel, he looked around. The light shon, hurting his eyes, he squinted, then continued to scan the area. He looked to the right, seeing two depressed looking citizens sulking near a buggy. One had a bandaged arm, a African American male, the other Causasian. The Afro-American's arm was bandaged, looking bent out of shape. As he approched, the Caucasian took notice of the weapons, picking up a nearby pipe and raising it, shaking. He held his arms up, his left higher than right, since the other is closest to his holster. He showed he meant them no harm, the man drew near with a ridiculous intelligable swagger, the pipe still in his hand. He knew he wasn't going to use it, and so did he.

"Are you.. you Resistance or anti-civvie..?" The man asked, while his other friend nurtured his arm.
"I'm friendly." Kane replied.
The man returned a solemn nod, pointing towards the vehicle with his pipe.
"It's not very good in the engine department.. only I can drive, and he's no good at pushing."
Kane returned a shallow nod, knowing what would come next.
After what seemed 10 minutes, he was position behind the buggy, pushing it with all his might as it accelerated into the distance. The engine began, he hopped on, knowing his weight wouldn't cause too much of a fuss. Kane spoke loudly to cover the noise of the roaring engine.

"Mind dropping me off?"
"Sure, where to?"
"The City's outskirts."
"Are you fucking mad?!"
"Shut up and drive."

They dropped him off near a little broken-up underground entrance. He began to crawl through the catacombs of the various urban structures, most of it completely dark. He ducked a helicopter patrol which hovered overhead as he moved through, ducking down and covering himself in a nearby wooden slate, it didn't see him. After around three hours worth of tramping around the shoddy landscape, he entered what seemed to be, a passage into the city, even to the untrained eye.

He ducked, entering the warehouses and urban areas. He scanned everywhere for movement, poking his head around every corner. Civil Protection were somewhere, but not where he was, luckily for him. He crossed a wide-spanning street, completely out in the open, it was beginning to get dark, anyway. He hoped the shroud of night would assist him, although cursed it for making his path more hard to follow. He continued, bringing up pace as the darkness began to cover most of the area, nobody was around apart from him in the abandoned and deserted places which used to be filled with human life. As he continued on his path, he could see the city, or what he hoped was the Nexus, it looked like it anyway. Around a mile to run, he could hear no sound, be it helicopter or Civil Protection activity, the silence was deafening. As he grew cold, he huddled into corner, pointing his 9 Millimetre at the door which he shut and locked. He fell asleep with the light on, waking up the next day at approximately 6:30 AM. He walked over to a nearby shard of mirror, picked it up off the ground and began to look at what he had become.

It was true what they say, getting back into the city is much harder than getting out, there's no goals other than "run". His face, predominantly smeared with dirt, his shirt torn and ragged. A beard spanning from one ear to the other, like some kind of homeless - which he was. His lips moistureless, his eyes jaded and silver. He threw the shard away to the opposite end of the room, opening the door regardless of his less-than handsome looks. He kept walking, although at this time heard nearby patrols, probably far from where he was, but the sound of it still intimidated him. He crossed another back alley, kicking some debris away from a cracked and thinly plastered wall. Continuing, he ran to the end of a large hallway, the entire place, which looked like an apartment complex, deserted again. He ran to the end, fidgeting with a door handle, which was locked. He let out a hollow grunt, listening on the other side for activity, hearing none, he took a step back. He kicked the door once, which made it shimmy on it's sides, causing minor cracks in the woodwork around the handle. He decided to use his arm this time, heading into a rugby tackle and shoulder-barging the door with all the force and strength he had left. It opened.

On the other end of the door, there was a small peice of left-over tiling, then a large drop. Looking under-construction, he instantly fell and plummeted from the end of the precipice into a large watery valley. Completely flooded, he landed face first in the water, weeds and moss covering his entire body, tangling him in the waterwork. He quickly resurfaced, looking at his surroundings. Luckily, his weapons were drained before they had any time to damage them. He kept wading through the water until he reached a rusty old ladder. He climbed it instinctively, making his way into a poorly-lit trainyard. He looked above, peeking around a corner at around 4 or 5 Civil Protection members surveying two different yards. He took a step back, looking around, when he saw a man in the distance, almost looking in exactly the same situation as him. He signalled over to him as he looked, making out the message "Don't go in!", but he gave him a shake of the head and sprinted into the area. As he peeked back around, worrying of the man's fate, he noticed the members of the Squad opening fire on the trains and walkways below, which he regretted to find as a chance to run.

He ran through the trainyard, dodging the odd signpost and ducking under the trains which he could get under. He continued to sprint until he reached the end. A little hallway, almost shrouded in complete darkness, he ran through and down a couple of stairs, out of an emergency fire door, next to some mangled bicycles and a dead plant. As he went through, taking a short peek at all of the various landscaping and architecture, it looked like he was home. He could smell the odd fuel aura which came from Combine factories and vehicles. He was in City 45 again, or close anyway.

Denied Outlands Appeals / RapidJuice's appeal

Reason for the switch: I did it out of impulse and anger, I didn't know the consequences of my actions. I was angry over something happening in my personal life and acted out of impulse since the City server was down. Only now do I reliase the collosal mistake I had made, sorry for dissapointing.

If required, write a detailed backstory on how your character left the outlands:
Knowing he'd managed to make his way past the cameras and various security installments the Combine had laid before him, Kane had business to finish inside of the city. He knew it was most likely a suicide mission, although that is what drove him before-hand. His gear he kept with him, having practiced with it for a while he was quite the journeyman of his trade. He shed most of his weight in tokens and pointless items such as radios and medicine. He covered himself in some of the native land's natural brushwork, making his way back into the canals he escaped from. He figured "I'll go back in the same way I came out".

It wasn't easy, although most of the helicopters and units he snuck by he heard or saw from a mile away, giving him ample time to hide from their patrols. Since their patrols covered such a wide area, they didn't check inside most of the boxes and closets he hid in when they passed. His training he endured had prepared him for this moment, his physical and mental conditioning levels being close to Military(auths). He'd get back in whether they liked it or not. As he pumped his Shotgun, entering the catacombs of the Underground area, he knew he'd face resistance. He flicked on his flashlight, wiping some of the grime from his face, the tunnel being the only thing seperating him from the city.

"It's time to show some would-be tough guys what it means to be a tough guy."

Accepted Authorizations / Stephen Kane's Authorization Application
« on: January 08, 2012, 03:13:29 PM »
Player Section

Steam Name: RapidJuice
Age: 16-17
How long have you been Roleplaying? (can be any game): 2-2.5 years.
How long have you been playing Serious GMod RP?: 2 years.

Character Section

Authorization(s):
- My character to be mentally and physically conditioned through rough training and healthy eating.
- Through training, to be stronger than the average citizen who is also healthy and/or any low ranking CCA, within reason.
- Good combat knowledge in close-combat, although self-trained to use a fire-arm effectively. (Which my character has ICly already.)

Name: Stephen Kane
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Resistance

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Around the time Stephen Kane became a wanted Anti-Citizen, he found District Six to be his home. Constantly he would condition himself further and further to prepare for the next time his life would be taken. He used a large warehouse to his advantage, using the cross-beams as a pull-up bar, and running laps from one side to the other. After a long time of making friends within the city, he met a man who supplied him with a fire-arm, a compact 9-Millimeter pistol (Damien Samshire).

For several weeks he would lock himself inside the warehouse, constantly pitting himself towards soul-breaking physical and mental training. His friends he had made supplied him with healthy food, water and Steroids, (although scared of the rumour that they would effect his genital area). (They didn't, luckily). They allowed him to train for longer periods of time, supplied by the Steroid power of a Civil Protection unit, where the Steroids came from directly, smuggled by anti-citizens.

Day after day he would isolate himself inside this warehouse, the stink of sweat, blood and tears almost numbing his nostrils. Constantly reloading, taking apart, putting togehter, aiming, reloading, taking apart, putting together, aiming. On the brink of insanity, he knew he had seen the other side of his ordeal. His training had made him stronger, he could feel the adrenaline-feulled blood pumping through his inner-core.

He practiced on sacks of maize he had found near the darker areas of the warehouse he accomodated. He hit them until they burst, not knowing when to stop until he could see visibly the blood seeping from his red-raw knuckles.

(To note, I have done all of these acts. I actually locked myself inside XCCR ICly and did all this.)
(Also, this is not an auth for a weapon, I already have one gained through IC means.)

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
- Adept in basic hand-to-hand combat.
- Copius knowledge on the standard 9MM Pistol, and the knowledge of self-trained, unsafe and volatile basic fire-arms use.
- Stronger than the average citizen through IC training he must endure every week or so.

Defects
- Combat style is unpracticed and unproffesional, only effective against the very untrained.
- Very little knowledge on the area outside of District Six, can get lost very easily.
- Scared of the world outside of District Six somewhat.
- Must keep up with training (I can supply these /me's and training RP to admins through RP observation.)
- My character smells very unhygenic from all the training!

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
-Become a figure to be reckoned with, perhaps even famous among the D6 community.
-I will not abuse my authorizations or use them as little flags to show "Haha I'm better than you".
-Increase a level of Anti-citizen Roleplay through teaching training techniques supplied by character.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
Nope.

Which server does this apply for?
City

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / City 45 Basketball Hoop!
« on: January 07, 2012, 10:43:15 AM »

                                      City 45
                              Basketball League!

Yes, you heard right, kiddies! District 6 now has it's own Basketball hoop.
Shoot some hoops with your friends, chill out, make enemies and possibly end up with BOL Status.
It's fun for ALL the family!

This is the basketball hoop itself. The rules are provided on the fence, although I will run over them.

DA RULEZ.
1. THERE ARE NO RULES! (Apart from the ones underneath*)
2. Do not use the Hands Swep. Use the E Key to control the ball.
3. Using the hands key is considered a FOUL BALL, although isn't useful anyway.
4. If you run into a player, press the E key on the ball and hit into the ball, the player will drop the ball. (Not ICly, properly OOC, its a cool feature)
5. You don't need to /me every action you do. Hardcore players may want to do things like /me throws, but I don't care.
6. HAVE FUN.

I thought this was a great way to encourage Passive RP in District Six, so I made this. It works perfectly, I've done it on a couple servers before. (I hope this isn't a breach of Tool Trust rules or abuse in any way, but it's really fun.)

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Gordon Freeman.
« on: January 05, 2012, 06:13:04 PM »
This has been on my mind for a little while, but it's not a thread about "omg sum1 maek a grd0n fr33man character".

We all know that the Vortigaunts were enslaved by the Combine, right? That's what they do. They enslave races.
So, Gordon Freeman in Half Life, somewhere a long time before where our HL2RP is set, kills the Nihilanth and the Vortigaunts pledge allegiance to humanity. In short, Vorts join the Resistance for the good of humanity. Hence why you don't see a loyalist vortigaunt.

Thing is, Vortigaunts are all linked by a big ol' telepathic force called the "Vortessense". Vortigaunts can all speak to eachother and their leaders/elders must have told them at some point:
"Hey guys. We need to help the humans. Not the Combine."
But, whether or not these elders or leaders told the rest of the race about the hero who saved their entire race from an eternity of slavery is kinda hazy in HL2RP servers, so they just kinda void Gordon Freeman completely from their roleplay.

Since we can't assume there are any Vortigaunt loyalists whatsoever, since the HL2 canon thinks that's ridiculous, there must have been a point where every Vortigaunt was told about Freeman or atleast their race being freed. Whether that be they were all horded into a big room and did a Power-Point presentation about it, or told through the Vortessense if possible. Vortigaunts should know about Freeman.

Think about it, every Vortigaunt knows that some mysterious hero called "Freeman" released their race from slavery, but even while Gordon Freeman is in stasis during this time after he defeats the Nihilanth, shouldn't they have mentioned him SOMEWHERE?

I'm not saying everyone should know about Gordon Freeman coming back to save their race from the Combine's rule, but Vortigaunts should atleast have hope that he'd return.
Thoughts?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzAv3Cv7a_U

It's hard to hold this pen. I forgot how. I've not written in such a long time - to anyone.

I guessed I should write something down before I'm gone. I think I saw it in a cowboy film once, some guy wrote a memoir to whoever found his dead remains, then he ended up not dying in the end. Then again, this isn't a film. So here, if my brains are blown out and you've stumbled across this in my back pocket, lemme tell you about who that handsome rogue you're looting from is was.

I grew up in North Aberdeen, on a farm near the centre of town. Scotland was brilliant, hence why it was socially acceptable for a boy to do farm work, and have a local town nearby.
At the beginning, I wasn't so great in school, being of 18 years old on a college course my parents forced me into, all I cared about was girls and cars. After I flunked, they ditched me. Mammy and Pa left their son because I didn't want to do some stupid educational hoop-jumping.

I went into the Strathclyde Police with help from my friends, they guided me through the various interviews. After a while, I was just a beat cop walking the streets of Aberdeen and sometimes Fife. Then I met Nicole, she was 21, I was 23. I married her after a year, blindly. It didn't matter, we loved eachother. We scraped together enough cash for a flat together, me as a beat cop and her a checkout girl at some supermarket.
She promised me she'd bare my child. She texted me during work, which she seldom did. I rushed home, then by some twisted humour, the Synths invaded before I reached her. I was instantly cut off by traffic in the chaos, sprinting home to find the entire flat burnt to the ground. I ditched my Uniform, imagining they'd see some symbol of power from it. I kept the shoes.

After being "processed" into the regime of the Combine, I quickly met Peter and Gary. There's lots more, but I'm leaving them out. Gary's dead now, but I never forgot him. He saved my life a couple times in ways I'm not gonna describe, since they'll probably hang my body in the plaza for it.

So I guess I should tell you about the Uprising. Basically, me and Peter are going t*SNAP*
The pen has clearly snapped at this point.

Introductions / Hi, I'm Rapid.
« on: December 19, 2011, 06:37:58 PM »
Hey guys, I'm Scott. I live in Scotland. Which is not ironic or hilarious.

I've been fond of roleplaying ever since I accidentally clicked on a DarkRP server when I was new to Garry's Mod. From then on, I started to roleplay in various other servers, most of which are gone now, like GRP, Exos, Gmod.biZ, SLA, Slidefuse and many more. I'm especially keen to Resistance leading. I've led 6 Resistance groups in my lifetime which were succesful and 2 which were not, which makes me more than experienced when I'm "Talking turkey" with other folk who believe they're pro Resistance. Although, I understand where the server stands in terms of Resistance groups and I wouldn't dream of ruining it for the moment.

Here's some facts about me.
I like dogs, but not cats.
I play rugby on thursdays and sometimes fridays.
I hate OOC Combine Loyalists, AKA people who don't see things from citizens viewpoints.
I can SexRP very well!
I have two dogs, Millie and Pip.
I'm not doing too great in school.
I'm "taken".
I'm not a furry and I hate anime.
I don't like Rock/Metal. At all. Hearing it makes me physically sick.
I'm actually quite a nice guy if you get to know me.
