Matt Stephenson's Civil Authority Application

IC Character Name: Matt Stephenson

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Matt Stephenson wants to join the CCA because he can't resist living a better life in City 45 and keep it safe. And Matt knew he had always had a problem with resisting things. He thinks about it everyday, better rations, a bed and authority over the citizens. He walks around on the streets, working and cleaning the city, and by cleaning the city, he improves the look of it, making it more enjoyable to walk around and sit. He has heard of kidnapping, murder and so on. Matt wants to prevent rebelling, murders, kidnap and other crimes by patrolling the streets and securing them. As he is a citizen himself Matt wants to keep the streets safe for the loyalists, CWU workers and citizens and get rid of the anti-citizens and rebels if he gets accepted.



While he's working, he can see the Civil Protection units walking around on the streets. With their uniform, stunstick and maybe a stomach filled with something you can call food. It was about 3 reasons he wanted to join the CCA. One is good food, a bed and such, Two is the feeling of authority and a more important place in the community, And third, he likes what the Combine has done and tries to repay them all he can by cleaning, working and even maybe become an officer himself. By becoming an officer, the CCA gets an increased number of units, and therefore has more officers to keep the city safe.




He thinks he has lost all his family and there isn't much he can do for the Combine as a citizen. Without his mother and sister, there isn't any meaning in Matt's life. But for him, there's still a chance for him in the CCA as an officer. And Matt want's to apply so he can be a part of the CCU and help the Combine keep City 45 a safe place from anti-citizens, xen lifeforms and antlions.

FOR ME

 For me it is going to be a brand new RP experience to roleplay a CCA unit. It's not going to be cleaning, standing in line to get food, get arrested for the slightest offence and such. The training, patrolling and all the other things is going to be hard, but a very fun RP experience. And walking around on the streets, feared by the citizens and be able to eat better rations and be in meetings is going to be a very funny and a valuable part of my time on CG's HL2 RolePlay server.

 FOR MATT

 It's all going to change, no more working, no more sleeping on the floor, no more eating whatever they're handing out. Authority, orders, meetings, training, divisions and all that includes is going to change his life. He thinks that this will be a hard, exhausting and maybe even painful time of his life, but very rewardable. He can see it in his mind, Walking around the streets with other officers patrolling, standing in the ration terminal handing out whatever he's been eating. Everything in his life is going to change.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Matt Stephenson is a 34 year old citizen living in City 45. He was born in 1982 in San Francisco. He lived with his mother and sister. His father died of a brain disease when Matt was only 5 years old. After his fathers death, Matt wasn't very social for a long time. Then 2 years later, Matt had gotten over his fathers death. He continued with his life and at the age of 17, Matt got a job at the local grocery store. His mother worked at the hospital and his sister was only 6 years old. Sometimes when Matt was working and his mother was either sick or working, his sister, Mary, would come with Matt and play with some toys Matt kept at the store for her. He could remember his sister playing with some dolls and other toys and on the way home, he normally carried her on his shoulders. He remembered the feeling of her small hands in his hair.




At school, Matt had many friends and his favorite subject was chemistry. He would pay extra attention in chemistry. If someone tried to say something to him during chemistry, he would say "Yeah" Or "Ok" without even looking at the person. He was thinking of getting a job as a chemist or something like that. 1 year later when he was 18 he got a long term relationship with a girl named Sarah. 7 months later since it started, Sarah had to move. This left Matt heartbroken and he didn't get a new girlfriend for a while.



At the age of 30, some months before the Seven Hour War occured, Matt had a girlfriend and was thinking about proposing. Some months before he was going to propose, it all started. The seven hour war. It started shaking in his whole apartment and he heard a loud rumbling sound while sitting on his computer. He got up and ran to the window. He saw other people get out and they tried to find out what it was. Then he saw it. Over the city, many alien like creature flew over the city of San Francisco. Army soldiers arrived and police officers was trying to shoot the alien ships. Matt wasn't living with his mother and sister anymore. He had moved to an apartment. He was in shock, seeing pictures in his mind. His sister, mother and father. He was thinking many thoughts. "Will i die?" "What's happening?". After merely 7 hours, the aliens had wiped out all armed forces of the humans. Then this "Wallace Breen" had negotiated a surrender of the humans on the behalf of the United Nations. That this would save the people. It did, but it wasn't free. All citizens below 17 were killed and the rest were placed into remade cities.



Now, at the age of 34 Matt was sitting at a bench in city 45. He was getting tired and got up and started walking towards the UCH. He entered an got his keys. He unlocked his door and sat down on a chair. He walked towards the window, watching the Civil Protection units. He saw and admired how they kept order and sociostability in the city. Matt had never gotten arrested, or "detained" before. He normally looked at the Nexus. Seeing CP's exiting and entering the big airlock infront of the big building. He always wondered how it was looking inside there. Matt thinked on the CP's better rations, maybe beds and control and authority. It was something Matt had been thinking on for a long time and now he had made his mind. He wasn't good at resisting things and he just pictured himself in that uniform and talking with other officers. He had heard that burn from their stun batons really hurt. He had never got beaten before, and he wasn't interested finding out how it felt like. He had his app on the table. He sat down and started writing. While he was writing he was thinking about the food, beds and rooting out all anti-citizens. He kept on writing and didn't stop before he was finished.

7. What’s your most memorable quality RP experience?
It was on the HL2RP server. I was cleaning a trashbin with my rag. Then 2 people walked past. One said: "What are you up to man..." The other one said "He's sucking up at the Combine." I found this ICly offensive and reported it to a local Civil Protection team. After a lot of talking a High Command Unit said that they had to arrest both me and the man that said I sucked up at the Combine for conspiracy. After getting beat down by the stunsticks, they carried us both to the Group Holding cell. First the officer interrogated me. He said i wasn't any useful. After the interrogation on the other citizen, an officer said that i needed to follow him. I saw the other units open the door to the torture cell. Luckily i wasn't the person that was going inside. After i was untied and let out, i got my points back and kept on cleaning and working.

Yes i do. But that's just my opinion, i don't know what other players think.
