Support & Help / Re: Upgrading my PC. Need help. :c
« on: March 03, 2014, 03:47:32 PM »
Just throwing my little PC knowledge out there.

If you have a 450W power-supply you should probably think about upgrading that soon, especially if you're going to be upgrading the rest of your PC. Namely because the GTX 670 has a minimum power supply of 500W, so I assume it's mostly running on fumes, if you upgrade your computer without going for a better power supply first it's most definitely going to die out on you.

Make sure to buy a reputable power supply, nothing cheap from china or anything. From a company that makes reliable power supplies (Corsair springs to mind) Oh and don't just go for 500W power supply because the 670 or something requires minimum 500, you want a little above that. A 750W power-supply is somewhat overkill if you're just running one card, and you can use the money you save by getting say a 600 or 650 and buy from a very reliable power supply manufacturer.

I would highly recommend heading over to www.reddit.com/r/buildapc and read some posts or make your own, there's a lot of people who know a lot more about PCs are are willing to suggest things then here most likely.

A good power supply unit can last you several years and is a very good investment. Don't cheap out on it 'yo. If you do you might find your PC not turning on and making weird sounds a few months or a year from now and thinking why didn't I listen to Monkey.

Oh and I wouldn't worry about upgrading your 670 right now. The GTX 670 is still a fantastic card (Only 1 year old). If you think it's not performing up to scruff right now, it's almost definitely because of your old CPU bottle-necking its performance. A 670 is perfectly fine for every game out right now, I would wait to see what's going to happen with the 800 series (probably sometime late this year/early next) before thinking about upgrading your 670.

As you've said your CPU is definitely the most important thing to upgrade right now (Get a decent power supply with it though!). You might also want to look into getting some better RAM. I know, right "But Monkey I have 16gb" right, but like graphics cards not all RAM is created equal so to speak, and your ram only has a clock speed of 668Mhz, that's certainly contributing to a slow computer. But if you don't have the money focus on just the CPU  and Power Supply unit for now (and motherboard if it's apparently not compatible with the latest 'stuff).

Suggestions / Re: About Uniform and Zealot
« on: January 27, 2014, 05:05:48 AM »
As Nicknero said about Zealot, I think the fewer divisions at launch the better.

This.

We don't need Zealot at the start, and it's hard for me to see a place where we would ever need it back again in the first place. The division just promotes elitism, not through the fault of the units but simply because it's a division where everything is secret unless you're classified as a good enough role-player to know what's going on.

Did the division add significant amounts of interesting role-play? Not really.
Did it hinder rebel groups from forming when they needed to form and grow? Yes.

So why should we have it back in the first place. IA is pointless, leave IA down to the leaders, not specialized units who "don't exist".

We don't need Zealot, let it go the way of Razor. We don't need it back simply because it was there before.

No more authorizations please.

Reviewing that shit was so tedious, it just really did not need to exist.
Id like to see the spot auths system i was talking about awhile back where admins could grant auths on the server right then and there based on a basic flow chart.

This sounds okay, as-long as it's not ridiculous.

I dont think we need to change anything regarding the application, but I think wr should let people apply for some more things generally. The application itself is fine imo

No. Bad. Shoo.

If no one can trust Rofl, then how about we just elect the former CWU members who led it previously?

In the event that said former members were incompetent or are absent, then just have everyone post an application and the best out of the lot gets to lead.

i think the idea is that to get new ones because the old ones werent the best

Aww, I love you too Raged.

But yes I agree. Aside from me there's not really any of the high ranking CWU members still at CG, and i'm not interested or willing to lead it again (and that would be a bad idea if we're honest, shouldn't happen).

CWU needs some fresh blood and ideas. Lone seems like he has a plan, which is more than anybody else can say at this point. But if it's up to Rofl then I guess we'll just wait and see.

I too like Smts train-ride video. Really fits with the themes of HL2.

Plus the whole sounds of the train slowly clunking and the occasional combine noise fits in with the fact you spawn inside a train-station.

I get the feeling 85% of this television junk isn't even going to be available to people outside the USA. I also look forward to the many upcoming videos of Scottish people attempting to use the voice recognition software.

"Ask Me Anything" / Garry Newman AMA
« on: May 09, 2013, 03:11:37 PM »
Garry did an AMA recently on reddit.com/r/games and I figured this would be the most relevant place to put it. It's over now so no more questions unfortunately however I thought it was a pretty good read. If anybody can think of a better place to put this (Maybe media or just straight up general discussions) please feel free to move it there and give me a slap over steam chat.

Personally I like the current, It's simple and easy on the eyes. Nothing I've seen looks like an improvement of the current layout in my personal opinion.

Have you tried possibly "Verifying the Integrity of the Game Cache". You can find the option by right clicking Garry's Mod in your library and going to Local Files.

As amazing as this thread is, I will be unsticking this thread due to no longer being relevant after the Civil Workers Union Overhaul. In the future the thread may be re-written and adjusted accordingly for the Overhaul changes.
