John Dominique's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: {DGAF} zallzool

IC Character Name: John Dominique

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
My character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority for several reasons.  Throughout his life, he has been mistreated by his parents and by children at his orphanage.  No one ever came to his rescue.  No one ever did what he believed was right... he hated the world.  Then the Combine came, and built his ideal society.  Those who respected and followed the law, were treated decently, while those who decided to cause trouble were dealt with.

As a citizen, my character did whatever he could to help the combine uphold this ideal society.  He kept a keen eye and ear out for crime in any fashion.  In doing so, he helped bring several criminals to justice in front of the Civil Authority.  He was willing to do whatever a combine asked him to do, regardless of the stakes.  In this way, John aided the Combine to his full potential.  Or so he thought.

As time passed, crime only worsened in City 45.  John continued his ways, reporting misdeeds and even cleaning messes left by other citizens, as instructed by the Combine.  One day, as John was sitting alone in his apartment when he felt something, in his gut.  It was an emptiness, a gap that came out of the blue.  By this point, John was already quite devoted to the Combine; he would do anything to help them.  As he sat, he realized something.  Perhaps he could do something more to uphold the Combine society, perhaps he could achieve something greater.  The gap clenched in his gut as he realized what he wanted, needed to do.  He was going to join those who set society in order.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
My character is smart, he can solve problems and can understand complex situations easily.  He also is very loyal, he will accomplish every order given to him with haste and accuracy.  Also, he is trustworthy. If he is given an order or assignment, you can count on him to complete it quickly and accurately.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
I am expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be a test of my RP skills, my judgment, and my patience.  I realize that joining the Combine Civil Authority will be a thrilling and rewarding experience, something that I will definitely enjoy.  However, I also realize that joining the Combine will take a great deal of patience also.  Standing guard at the nexus or going on monotonous patrol routes are things that all Combine have to do, and I am prepared to do them as fully and adequately as I would do anything else as a Combine.

My character expects the combine to be one step higher in servicing the Combine society.  He believes that the Combine have made humanity better with their society.  He believes that being a combine will be a huge test of his personal judgment, strength, and physical limitations.  As a citizen, he could only deal with crime second handed manner; by reporting crime to the Civil Authority, not dealing with it by himself.  He believes that as a combine he would be instrumental in keeping the city safe as he would be able to deal with any crime by himself and of his own instruments.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
-Childhood-
Life was always tough for little Johnny.  An only child, growing up in the “not so good part” of Los Angeles, Johnny was always shunned.  He lived with his parents, in a cramped apartment in Inglewood.  He attended Inglewood Intermediate, where he met his only friend, Paul.  John’s school wasn’t known to be the safest place in the town of Inglewood.  Kids would get beaten up commonly, stabbed on occasion.  Teachers and staff rarely raised a finger.  John’s only security was a small Swiss Army knife, which he kept tucked in his pant pocket, just in case.  John was the center of much bullying and hatred, due to the fact that he was about 100 pounds overweight.  His only peace and security came from Paul, who was 5’10, muscular, mean looking, and wouldn’t harm a fly.  As long as he was close to Paul, John was safe.
John tiptoed around the door, and slowly closed it shut.  It made a slight “plunk” as it hit the wall.
“So, where the fuck have you been all this time?”  John’s hear sank, his parents had forgotten.
“I… I told you I was going to Paul’s.”
“You were supposed to be here an hour ago!” John’s father was furious, “Your mother and I were worried sick, you could have died!”  John’s father took a swig from his bottle.  Drunk, again.
“I told you I would be here at this time, you are wrong,” John said, staying calm.
“Bullshit!  I tell you what Carol, this kid’s trying to fuck with me, he’s trying to trick me and I won’t have it!” John’s father got up from his seat and started un-buckling his belt.
“Come on Harold, leave the boy alone,” said John’s mother, taking a puff from her cigarette and downing some pain killers.
“You stay out of this Carol, I’m gonna teach him a lesson.”

Mostly safe.

The next day at school, John’s teachers ignored the extensive bruising visible on John’s face and neck.  Nothing was done by anyone to stop any kind of abuse from happening to him.  Of course John never told a sole, out of fear of what his father would do if he found out.
Two years later was freshman year for John, he was 15.  Paul and his family moved on a mission to South America, so John was left alone to cope for himself.  In the two years since he started middle school, John had shot up in height, and was now 5’10 and slightly muscular.  He kept to himself most of the time.  He didn’t bother anyone and they didn’t bother him.  His father didn’t beat him so much, he was usually passed out most of the time.  And he grew closer to his mother, who began to rely more and more on her pain killers.  Time went on, and everything was almost semi normal for John, until that one night.  That one night when everything changed.

-That One Night-

It was ten o’clock at night.  John was studying for his big history exam the next day. He could barely concentrate due to the shouting coming from the kitchen.  His parents were fighting again.

“Ok, the capital of Hungary is…”
“Jesus Carol, sometimes you are un-fucking believable!”  John closed his eyes.
“Come on, concentrate.  The capital of Hungary is… Budapest.”  John opened his eyes just as he heard a crash from the kitchen.  He darted out of his seat and opened his door.  His father was on top of his mother, his arms around her neck.  John didn’t even need to think; before he knew it he had kicked his father with all his might square in the nose.  His father rolled off his mother, who was on the floor lying still.
“Boy,” his father growled at John through a bloody mouth, “I’ve been waiting a long time for this.”  His father took a bottle of vodka by the stem, and hit it against the counter, making a sharp edge.  John only blinked in disbelief.
“AHH!” his father screamed in hatred as he charged at John with the bottle.  Swiftly, John grabbed his father’s arm holding the bottle as he was running, and the punched him in the throat with his free hand.  In an instant he had his Swiss Army knife blade out.  His father was on the floor, recovering from John’s blow.  He didn’t hesitate.  He grabbed the knife with both hands and jabbed it as hard as he could into his father’s neck.

Paramedics were called two minutes later.

One man by the name of Harold Dominique was admitted to California State Penitentiary for life on the charges of attempted first degree murder and first degree murder.  One boy by the name of John Dominique was admitted to the Orange Orphanage after being taken in by Child Protective Services.  One woman by the name of Carol Dominique was admitted into the St. Bernard’s Cemetery, cause of death: Strangled.

-Orphanage-

With no parents to raise him, John was taken into custody and sent to an orphanage about an hour away from his old home.  Conditions in the orphanage were… less than admirable.  The warped and discolored wood under his feet creaked with each step, and the thin wallpaper covering the towering walls surrounding him was fading and peeling away from age.  He was quickly processed into the computer at the welcome desk.  His name, birthday, and room number were all entered in.  In less than ten minutes, he was in his new room with his new roommate.
“Hey, welcome, my name is Gavin.”  John stared at his feet.  He was never much of a talker.
“John,” John muttered, still staring blankly at his feet.  Not much conversation transpired between John and Gavin for quite a while.  The residents of the Orange Orphanage knew the routine.  Every new resident was like this for a week or two.  They were all sad, quiet, withdrawn.  None of children at the orphanage knew exactly why, though.  Perhaps it was from the shock of living in a new place, perhaps because of all the new people.  What they did know, though, was that this time was crucial for all new residents.  This was the time when they decided to whom their loyalties were.
Orange Orphanage had two groups of children.  The children that stuck in a group or gang, and the children that stuck to themselves.  The children who were in groups fed off of the loners, bullying them and keeping them perpetually in a low place, maintaining their order.  Whenever a new kid came to Orange Orphanage, they were given a day to figure out who they were going to be in the makeshift society.  It took only a matter of one 30 minute lunch session for John to figure this out.  And he had made his choice; he wasn’t going to play their game.  He would stick to himself, and if there was any trouble, he would get an adult to intervene.
“So are you going to give it to me or not, punk?”  John looked up and blinked.  He had zoned out again, and this time wasn’t the best time to be daydreaming.
“Well?” asked Tim.  Tim was the head man in one of the larger cliques at the orphanage.
“No, leave me alone.” John replied.  Don’t play into their games.
“Well, I think I might just have to take it.”  Tim reached over John’s plate in an attempt to grab his ice cream cup.  In a flash, John grabbed his arm, and he shoved Tim back into a group of his friends.  Don’t play into their games.  Tim bounced back up in fury.
“Oh, you have asked for it now.  You’re about to go up shit creek buddy.” Tim pulled back his fist, everything slowed down in front of John’s eyes.  Don’t play into their games, take the hit, he’ll leave you alone.  John wanted to believe that, but he knew that this was his defining moment, his initiation even.  How he decided to act in that one moment would define how he would be treated for the rest of his time at the orphanage.  The administrators of the facility couldn’t help him, they had no control, it was up to him to save himself.
As the hit neared him, John grabbed the fist of Tim with his left hand, blocking the blow.  He then pulled Tim close to him, using Tim’s own arm, while bringing back his right arm.  He brought it forward at fast as he could and hit Tim square in the nose.  It all happened in a second, but it felt to John like it had transpired over the course of a full minute.  Tim fell to the floor, gripping his nose, bleeding.  John stood straight up and looked down at Tim.  He chuckled and threw his ice cream cup at him.
“You should put some ice on that,” John said.  He walked away, back to his room.  He never had a problem with any kid at the orphanage again.

-7 Hour War-

John lived almost happily in his next three years at the orphanage.  Things were… peaceful.  Then came the day of his 18th birthday, the day which he could finally leave.  The staff gave him a cupcake with one candle in it, sang happy birthday, and told him to get out.  He had two days after that to pack his things and leave.
It was the last night before he would leave.  He was alone in his room, Gavin had moved out a month earlier and he hadn’t been assigned a roommate.  He was lying down in his bed, staring at the ceiling contemplating where he would go and what he would do with his life.  Suddenly, he heard a low humming.  It began to grow louder until the whole room shook.  Jolting from his bed, he looked out his window.  He couldn’t make anything out in the darkness.  As he was staring out the window, he heard a roar like he had never heard before and everything went black.
As he awoke, John heard gun shots and screaming all around him.  Dazed from the explosion that knocked him out, he struggled over to where the door used to be, walking into the main lobby of the orphanage.  The children and staff were lined up against the wall, being ordered by what seemed to be men wearing some kind of mask.  They spotted John quickly and forced him against the wall.
“You,” one of them growled at him, “What is your age and name?”
“Joh… John Dominique, 18,” John muttered, barely able to speak.  John could hear one of the assailants mutter to one of the others.
“You, come with me,” said the masked man.  The man pulled him out of the building and shoved him into a vehicle unknown to John.  The only other people in the vehicle were staff from the orphanage.  What was going on?  The city around him was amiss.  Fire and gunshots could be seen everywhere, and death filled the air.  As the vehicle pulled away from the orphanage, John could hear gunshots erupt from the lobby.  John closed his eyes and blacked out.

-Citizen-

John was processed, given a CID number, and sent to the nearest city.  Life was different in the Combine rules cities.  He had to get used to the rations given out daily and the new way of life.  He adjusted to the Combine society quickly, and eventually grew to appreciate it.  He admired the system the Combine had established; don’t commit crimes, and you will be rewarded.  Misbehave and you will be punished.  No misdeed went unpunished, and John liked that.
John felt that the Combine restored order to humanity, making life simple and organized.  As he went from city to city, he began to envy the combine more and more.  Eventually, he ended up in City 45.  He settled down more there, and began to earn loyalist points.  His life was looking good, but he felt that he needed to do something more.  He helped the Combine extensively and served them well as a citizen, but he felt he needed to do more.  He felt that he wasn’t doing enough to help his perfect society.  But, he didn’t know exactly what he should do or become.  However, after a time and much thought, John came to know exactly what he must do.  John knew that the only thing more he could want to do with his life, was to join the Combine.

John Dominique's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: {DGAF} zallzool

IC Character Name: John Dominique

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
My character wants to join civil authority because as a child he was bullied and tormented, and as a teenager he felt it his responsibility to maintain order in his orphanage and he took almost a leadership roll.  He dealt with anyone who threatened the social order.
He maintained these ideas through his youth and kept them strong at core.  When the 7 hour war came, he became a natural leader, comforting the week and encouraging the strong.  In combine society he followed the rules, like a good citizen and knew/respected his place on the food chain.
Finally, he decided he was meant to be a combine.  He wanted to keep order society and respected the Combine’s work.  Being and ordinary citizen tired him, causing the want for stimulation in his everyday goings.  He even dreamt of being a combine on several occasions (one of the factors that really made him want to join).  All of these emotions built up until he was finally signing his name on his own Combine Civil Authority application.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
John is very trustworthy and loyal.  These two traits go hand in hand because when he receives commands, he will go to a large extent to see them out.  He will remain under a specific leader and fight for their cause if it means giving his own life.  He is also smart, so he knows when to exact any kind of punishment or stop a problem before it happens.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
My character expects a few things from becoming a combine.  First, he has a natural instinct to keep order due to the chaos that occurred in his childhood.  He likes to fight for what he feels is right.  He feels that there is too much evil in the world and he must help to control it.
Secondly, he sees the Combine as a way to help clean him up.  He got into a lot of fights at the orphanage and was kicked out when he turned 18 without food or money.  He was living in poor conditions, until the Combine came and restored society.  He feels it is his debt back to society to join the Combine and keep order.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
“Hey chubby kid, get over here!”  Since he was a child, little John was bullied constantly.  He was quite overweight and wore braces and thick glasses.  His only friend was a teddy bear named “Benny” that he would play with when he got home from the hell-hole most of the normal kids called school.
His father came home from a long day at work drunk one night.  He heard shouting from under the blankets in his bed.  His parents were fighting again.  He heard a shout and then a bang.  The only thing in sight was his father holding a revolver and his mother lying on the floor.  That was the first day John had ever fought.  He had disarmed his father and stabbed him in stomach.  He and his father walked away alive from the incident.  His father was sent to life in jail when he recovered and John to an orphanage.  He carried with him a scar in his shoulder where he had been shot by his own father.
As he grew older, John thinned out and became quite muscular.  He was still the subject of torment by the older kids until he became a teenager.  He finally started defending himself and became quite self confident.  He got into fights frequently, many times to protect his friends.  He never lost.
When the 7 hour war hit, the orphanage was blown to pieces.  Children were taken out and shoved into a bus.  Michael never saw them again.  He had figured out that the children under 18 were being filtered into one bus while he and the 6 people who were over 18 were put into another.  Michael had turned 18 three days ago.  He was scheduled to leave the orphanage tomorrow.
The bus led to a train which led to another train and so forth.  During these travels, he had been processed, given a CID number, and had been administered a blue uniform.
Time went on and John’s days were pretty much the same.  He followed rules, ate rations, and lived in a small apartment at the civil housing complex. A respect grew in him for the control and orderly fashion the combine possessed and eventually, Michael made the choice to join.  To do anything necessary to uphold society.

I bought minecraft about two years ago,  back in indev.  I have spent countless hours on it since then and the 30$ is totally worth it.  However, after a while of constant play every day, it does get repetitive for me, so I take breaks for a few months usually.

I don't mind the voice acting at all, mostly because I don't really listen to the pre made in game speech commands.  I prefer to play on a server with 30 player spots, so I can barely even here the voice acting anyway.

Recently, my year old JG has been acting up.. so I went to Airsoft GI expecting to buy a cheap ak-47 (something I can bang up and not worry about it at all).  Walked out with a KWA CQR series for about $190.  It's great for where I airsoft in Chino, and is KWA, so of course it's high quality and reliable.
