General Discussion / Re: New Headset
« on: May 10, 2011, 02:04:24 AM »
Depending on whether your a gamer or not, I highly recommend this company:

http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/DisplayCategoryProductListPage/categoryID.35096300

That site there sells some of the finest computer gaming equipment I've ever seen. I currently use these headphones:

http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169415800/categoryId.35096300

I've had them for almost three years, and they sound just as good as they did when I bought them. If you have the cash, get a Megalodon instead.

Yes, these don't meet the price range your looking for, and the fact is: you won't find a durable headset for that amount of money. These two headsets I suggested to you have very fine cording that is protective and won't break away and damage your headphones overall.

This guy has published a few albums, and even though he's not very well known, his music is quite amazing. Think of Dubstep, but with more creative rhythms:

Part of having a satisfactory application is meeting the actual requirements of the application. It's all part of the process. It's about following what you're told to do. The people who mark the applications want to know that you can follow directions.

If you can't follow directions, then don't bother applying. Simple as that.

I'm surprised at the video. It's quite well done. However, I think he should have been a bit more of a serious/brainwashed way of thinking, instead of "haha, its fun to fight the good fight"

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Civil Protection - FearRP
« on: April 23, 2011, 04:53:14 AM »
You're suppose to get nervous about Rct's, Get scared of 04-02's, and shit your pants at 01's - SeC's.

Ah yes, Wodarski. But remember, the whole frightening and confronting thing about Civil Protection is the common conception "They're all the same!" To citizens, Civil Protection units really are the same. You honestly aren't going to notice they're digits, where as Civil protection can recognise eachother through trained identification and HUD cams in their helmets.

And unfortunately, people seem to think that if you get hit by a stunstick, you're just going to bruise and say "Ow". Nope. Even on low setting, you should be staggering back and being electrocuted. It's a stunstick with electrical currents hitting you. Think about it. It's almost like a melee form of a taser, except it varies on the charge you apply.

Vocoders, which all units would pretty much use, also adds to the anonymous status of all units, and makes them all sound the same or at least similar. This also adds fear to the citizens, as they really do portray themselves as robotic figures who are just standing there waiting to spank your ass.

Jokes aside, unfortunately this community may be at competition with a community which is planning to rise, with experienced people behind it.

So unless you want to be run over, start teaching those minges how to roleplay properly and get things happening in the server! Get those units patrolling and make the citizens feel fear!

This community's not too bad when you get past all the minges and some of the plans for the server that still haven't come yet.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: How to RP in a gun fight.
« on: April 15, 2011, 11:54:52 PM »
Even though citizens shouldn't have guns in the city, if in the outlands or canals they receive one with authorization.

It shouldn't just be like "omg antlion attack, fire with my new weapon, pew pew pew. yea, this is easy."

Using a gun is no small task and the recoil can be a shock to people who are new using it. Any military/police employed people were all but eradicated when the Combine fully took over. Being a person who used to work on a farm and say "oh I used to have a rifle". That's not excuse either. Most of the memories citizens have are blurred, or overtaken when residing and getting used to the city.

If a person receives a gun, they should also be taught how to use it. You could even have some sort of gun-lock, where the person might give you the gun itself..but it doesn't work until an administrator has "unlocked it" OOCly once the person has learned how to use it.

This isn't really a very appropriate topic to have being viewed by the public.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: New map

Ugh. I'd be careful about City 11. You think lolwebulz and mingery is bad enough in the City 18 plaza, just wait for 11. Because of the small and narrow "plaza"...hell...it's not even a plaza, it's like just one street leading up to the citadel. But because of this, you have nearly all the citizens clogging up the other districts, and you'll find that Civil Protection's patrolling will be pointless because there will be no citizens to enforce. However, you could choose to have units active in the other districts instead of just "the Civil Protection/loyalist area and the other area where Civil Protection isn't allowed to go". That's a bit stupid. Civil Protection own the city. They should be able to patrol where they like.

IC Chat / Citizen Journal Entry - Log One
« on: April 14, 2011, 08:38:55 PM »
OOC NOTE: If you want more an atmospheric effect when reading this journal, please play the video down below. Thank you.

The journal is a thin and raggedy book, in somewhat poor condition. The thin pages are scrawled in paragraphs and ink blots, surfaced with moth and dust.

15/4 - Log One

My arrival in this city was recent and sometime I even struggle to remember anything before it. Everything is blurred...unknown...unseen. I often find myself held up in my apartment here, isolating myself from the tragedies below. I have tried so very hard to engage with some of the other citizens, but their faces are so depressed, so without hope or determination. I often here some of the men squabble near my room and curse themselves over this terrible situation. Sometimes, there is no use in talking with the others. Only problems and arguments seem to follow. As for the others...the "metal men"...or... "them"...as some of us are already calling them, they are a much different character. They show no care or emotional quarrel with any of us. Every day that I walk outside of the apartments and take a stroll through the plaza, my first goal is to always stay out of their way. Once I did indeed bump into one of them, and my nose was turned a slightly different way. I am only just recovering from the injuries they bestowed on me. It is an unpleasant feeling, knowing that these "police" or these "protectors" are hardly that at all.

The rations they give to us every few days or so have few things inside them. The food almost made me double over and vomit. I am still adapting to the taste, and I do have a feeling they put some sort of chemicals in there. Especially the water. The water is much different from when I remembered it. Now, every time I drink it, I feel a sense of calming and toleration for everything. It seem to help me sleep, if that is one positive side effect. And it is difficult to resort to other sources of food. I have not seen a single animal, whether it be bird or rodent in my stay here. The place is so gray...and so dull with control and restriction.

As I write at this moment, I feel the walls thudding beneath me. It pains me to say that I can hear a woman screaming and the audible grumbles of those officers laying waste to her below. I can only imagine what she might of done. It brings a tear to my cheek to know that at this moment, there is absolutely nothing I can do. If I were to interfere, I can only guess what they might punish me with. I do not wish to be dragged into that behemoth dark tower. The Citadel. Although it sounds so grand and pure, it hardly looks it. Perhaps I will go and see if I can help the woman after the officers have gone away. If only there was truly more that I could do...

I've been an active user of past Half Life 2 Roleplay communities such as PubGamer and Cubester, including the several trillion that SatN and Raiden created.

I've been roleplaying for years though and I still enjoy it. I'm also part of Infusion Gaming, despite some of it's idiotic ways of doing things, I'm there to roleplay with a few friends.

And I can say you seem familiar too :)

emwuld edit: I have been a part of Catalyst Gaming for a while, including the older one. I just chose not to post that often or contribute much. In the old CGHL2RP is probably where I know you from.

And no hard feelings, Krystal :), you seem like a pretty cool person anyway. I have no quarrels with furrys or the alike. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

Hey guys! I've always had a growing and experienced in Half Life 2 Roleplay, Civil Protection in particular.

People here that know me well..or well enough are Soviet, Rofl, Raiden, SatN and Chessnut.

I might see you on and the server and hopefully I'll file in an application soon as well.

Thanks :)
