I give up. Just remove the /roll horseshit altogether.

I know you can't please everyone but no one wants to work with it at all.

Fucking kids really try my patience lately.

Are you joking? You can't tell me with a straight face that a D10 or D20 would not provide a better chance than rolling a D100.

Seriously. The chances are, even without modifiers, (FORGET THE FUCKING MODIFIERS FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK and listen to me) the outcomes will be much closer and waaaaay less random.

It's just a matter of very simple math.

10 or 20 numbers yields a way higher chance of a fairer outcome than 100.
I don't know how to explain it any better than that...

Like if you roll a D100 and get say, 20, your opponent just has to beat that 20. There are 80 more numbers that are higher than 20, and the chance is getting higher than 20 is really high.

If you roll a D20 and get say, a 10, then there are only 10 more numbers that go higher than 10, and the chance of the opponent rolling higher is 50-50. It's a lot more fair and the  chance of getting totally annihilated by a bogus roll is lessened.

Also, I really do believe that any CP will likely be in better physical condition than a starving civy.
So maybe instead of modifiers, CP could roll a D12 while a civy rolls a D8 or D10 to make up for the differences in physical condition.

It's not exactly fair as far as the chances go, but neither is being enslaved by a superior alien race...

But I guess I am just overthinking things again.

Back to my main point:

D20 >D100 for rolls, at the very minimum.

or people could just not fucking fight all the time and actually RP the way they are supposed to...

They don't need to be. My point is that a D20 would be much better suited for HL2RP than a D100.

Modifiers could be used to keep things slightly more realistic. like if attacking a CP while you are unarmed and unarmored, you would have to overcome the CP's armor and if he has is stunstick or another weapon out, his attack modifier on top of him just being superior to you in most stats.

But still, even without any modifiers, a D20 would close the gap really well and make outcomes not so random.

I am a bit of a Dungeons and Dragons player. I think if we used a D20 system (20 sided dice) for stuff instead of a D100 and use modifiers it would help things out.

Like say a CP gets a +5 or so on a dice roll for attacks like punching and for defense, +10 for defense checks if they have armor on and such. Also factor in negative modifiers like -4 on defense if caught from behind or horde bonuses, like a group of citizens attacking 1 CP would give like a +2 per each person making attacks on the 1 CP and such.

I don't know the limitations of the game mode but maybe even the character stats like strength and endurance and such could actually determine positive or negative modifiers on rolls automatically?

Damn I wish I could code this kind of stuff... but even without modifiers, I think a smalled numbered dice would help even things up a lot. I think using a 10 or 20 sided dice would be best for things like combat.

Maybe we are all he has right now. Cut him some slack. If this doesn't get cleared up for him it will fuck his life up permanently!

I feel for you Lone. I wish there was any way I could help. Fuck I hate being so powerless all the time.

I feel for your friend. Hopefully he will be alright. I'm sorry for you both.

I don't really get what was wrong with the hose in the first place, besides being too short range to get the fires that climb walls. I have 7 ladders and they bog me down so bad I can't purchase anything from an NPC or receive items in trades.

Sometimes I need to stack 3 ladders up to reach the highest fires before they spread back down to the ground...
and since we are having issues getting fires under control, why are you nerfing the hose?

I may be missing something here... fill me in if I am...

I went to fight a fair sized fire today by radio station. It went out really quick so either the extinguisher is on steroids or it went out on it's own. Either way, awesome.

Damn, Viz. Although I didn't get a chance to get to know you, I do know that the servers were more fun to play on when you were around. You did a good job as admin.

TF2 was my first steam game too. I played that for a few years. It was hella fun. I think I'll give it a shot when I get back to my computer. I don't think my netbook can run it.

I had a few records on GMR, I liked to try to improve stuff in game and help people out... I am almost always a firefighter with a headquarters set up in the radio station...

I even managed to survive as mayor AND host events without getting assassinated or mugged once! xD

I was a watchdog for PE too. Usually submitting demos for admin review when there weren't any in game.

I've bumped into a few people from PE. Glad to see some familiar faces. :)
