OCRP now has a true day night cycle, as well as weather! Weather can only happen by administrative intervention though.
-
So it will only rain if an admin decides its too sunny and makes it rain....? :/

SA+ plus the command's not being given out as it does cause a bit of lag. So basically weather won't happen often.

Lol I actually meant script wise so I could set the map up for it but yeah. I have all the props that are outdoors prop_dynamic so their shading shifts with the light_environment ambient changes. Anything else?

Can we make it so that it is not admin controlled... that would make me want to join more if it where a completely random storm and such....

It causes too much lag to be kept random.

It causes too much lag to be kept random.
Then why not set on a time scale? Not random then, maybe like every 15 to 30 mins.

Then every 15 to 30 minutes, it will create too much lag.

Then dont have it at all if it creates too much lag <.<

Thats the essential idea. Its part of the mod in use but its disabled and the command to enable it isn't being given out.

Well that ruined my OCRP play time...
Won't be coming back for a while then... wait for the new map.

i dont understand why having weather disabled because itll cause a lot of lag stops you from wanting to play ocrp

I tested it and it causes way too much lag. In the city I usually get 40-50 FPS, but with the weather it was dropping to about 9. That's unplayable.
Other than that, I love night time. It's actually dark and looks amazing.

I'd actually like to see this.
As for the day/night its ok but it uses colour mod to make it dark like that. It just doesnt look right and when you go indoors in dark areas, its ultra dark. I dont recall my interior lights getting darker at night time.
Anyway rockford is actually set up to have an even more realistic day/night where the nights actually look like night. I shal explain why:
The light_environment entity in a map that gives the world daylight has 2 values of light. Brightness and Ambience. The brightness is the actual sunlight itself whereas the ambience is the light emitted from the rest of the sky (why shadows in daytime have a slight blue tinge to them if its sunny out). The Day/Night script has the ability to modify the Brightness key bringing it all the way down to 0, however it is not able to modify the ambience. Not sure why but anyway, thats why night time with day and night really only looks dark blue rather then legitimate night.
I found a way to resolve this in my map by making the light_environment ambience very dark (but not all the way because you can still see some shit at night) and adding several constant lights on the ceiling of the skybox to emulate ambient lighting. These lights are modifiable so with a little bit of LUA, they can gradually change their brightness, thus true day/night lighting is achieved.

Hopefully with this new map, it won't be laggy. As for the weather, if it is not laggy, lets try it! (At random! >:U)
