In the questen "Concerned Rat" you have to talk with Esbern but he locks himself inside his room and I cant talk to him! what do I do!?
-
Pick it?
-
Not possible? If you haven't even done the quest or know how to actually do it, dont even bother posting.
-
I am having the same issue. Did you torrent the game?
-
if you torrented it (no achievements - this will STOP achievements from working) open console by hitting the key to the left of 1 (or w/e your usual console key is) and click the door, then type "unlock" - unless you've already tried this and it isnt working for some reason
-
Thanks for the tip, ill try that :)

Cheap bastard way is how to do it, I don't beleive in buying multiple copies if I buy it for xbox i torrent it for PC and that is that.

I am having my own problem with the .exe files are deleting themselves everytime i shut the game down.

Who is dumb enough to pirate a singleplayer game?
-
I just got to this part and im stuck too, I cant even unlock the door or teleport into it, ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615805-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/60989008 - o shit
I got around it by literally cheating my way past two quests (this one and the one after it, using player.SetStage and looking up the quest stages, but that will turn of achievements for you)

Get it right were pirating skyrim. And who is smart enough is the question.

Great, someone on legit PC (OhDear, unless he torrented it), pirated PC (good old me) and now my friend on Xbox (legit bought) has had this issue, do Bethesda even know? D:

I posted a solution to it,
unlock the door with console
leave the area and come back
BAM door open.

Sup bitches. almost certainly works on legit as well as torrented, it's literally just the sound files for the char, I recommend copying them over JUST in case, it's a game breaking bug (for the main quest anyway, even if you get around it he plays a part later on)
(do it even if you don't think you'll bug, you'll need it)
If you don't have it, download Oblivion Mod Manager and install.
Find your skyrim's voicesextra.bsa and open with oblivion mod manager (using the utilities button - BSA browser - Extract all once you find the file located in data of Skyrim)
Extract it into skyrims Data folder. You don't have to drop it into a sub folder.
Once its done, start it up and enjoy not having that bug.
No guarantees it will work for everyone, but I was forever stuck at the negotiation with esbern and this fixed it.
(hello to everyone googling for help and coming across this !)

That is what I was about to complain about thanks came just in time.
-
Yeah the second one is the only one that works for me, and it's worth taking 5 minutes to do it cause he's really important later in the main quest
