Title: I think my OS is breaking.
Post by: Adam S on August 18, 2011, 05:44:37 PM
Okay for the past 5 months heres a list of whats been happening.

When i first login my Gateway(Or something the OS runs) will not load webpages for 5mn or longer when launching them when everything stops loading.

When i login sometimes it will say "Welcome" for over 20 seconds then my backgrounds black then it takes 1mn for that to comeback and slow loading icons. When this happens my Graphics are slower than what they should be.

It made me install 22 major updates one day without telling me :(

Any help?

Try formatting and re-installing. Worked for me a while back.

that's what I used on my Toshiba but don't forget about the Defragler as well, it did help out to remove about 40 GB of trash on my laptop (Toshiba not Mac Book Pro) that was fragled and/or wasn't necessary.

Why not use a smaller hard drive to house your OS and use a larger to store your data. Or go out and dish 60 - 100$ and get a 500GB or 1TB External. Here's a few links.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136515
WD Is a very good Brand.
http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Passport-Essential-Portable/dp/B0041OSAZS/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1313728358&sr=8-12
Both are pretty good for the Price. Personally I use Western Digital when I travel and Use a different brand for my main storage because WD Doesn't make them large enough.
