Post by: LoNeDeStRoYeR on July 15, 2011, 05:46:22 PM
Ok so i keep getting a weird thing where my screen goes white and a message pops up for about 5 second saying the video card/drivers stopped responding, and then i bluescreen, the last two days its happened 5 times, what is causing it and how do i fix it?

The only thing i know thats wrong with my computer is that the power source is insufficient.

I used to have similar problems. Were you trying to update drivers or something?

What is your video card's temp at? You may be burning out.

HW Monitor (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) is an option.

Depends on the card... My method is a bit more... hands on.

I just pop open the case and poke the card, if it burns my finger, I shut down the comp for a while.

How are your fans?  Also, have you installed anything or gone to an obscure* site recently?

(* you know what I mean here.)

Check your fans, make sure there's no obstruction.
It's not an actual burn. If it's overheating it usually feels like a warm shower or touch the side of a coffee cup. I'm not asking you to stick your finger on melting silicone here... although if that's the case, unplug immediantly.
It's a legitimate question, Malicious material can come from any place though.

this happans to me once a week when a play a little to much on my laptop. When it happans, I stop and shut it down. If it keeps happaning every week or 2-3 weeks, will my graphics card burn?

There's also a chance your memory sticks are corrupted. Open up Windows Memory Diagnostic, let it restart, do it's thing, then load back to Windows. There will be a message notifying you how it went.

The most common solutions for graphical errors:
1. Restart the game and perhaps even you PC in the event that your graphics card is overheating.
Fixed? If not:
2. Go into your steam library, right click GMOD and select properties, navigate to game files and press: "Verify integrity of game cache."
Fixed? If not:
3. Delete Garrysmod in your games library and the folder in Steamapps and do a clean reinstall. ( This will make you loose all your files so back shit up! )
