is it possible to have the same steam id cause me and my brother were playing a server and it said we were banned for similar steam ids i'm just wondering is it possible for that to happen.

Same/similar IP maybe.  Steam ID? Its possible to have similar ones since they are created numerically, but no, people don't ban for it.
