Kind of like zip ties but instead a craftable item that would bind the hands of someone taken hostage. The rope can be cut by a knife. While I know fearRP would prevent people from taking things out at gunpoint. This would allow the hostage takers to not have to "trust" that the hostages would follow rules and they could also take their guns off the hostages leading to more interaction with police and other hostage negotiation/related personnel.

Do you plan on having some type of anti minge fail safe? I hate to point out the obvious but someone can just run around the plaza tying up shop owners, people at spawn, ect.

Maybe have a strength thing that lets you break it after a amount of time. Or make that if you have a knife equipped or in your inventory you can cut it.

I do not like the idea with the knife :s That would mean everyone would buy a knife, and then cut them self out after no time. And if the one who have you as hostage think you are tied, you could easily take a weapon out if the look away.

Have a timer or something to stop it from happening right away.

Here is the failsafe. Just like zipties and handcuffs make it take ~5 secs to tie the person up. if they move away they dont get tied up. And allowing someone to cut themselves free defeats the hole purpose of the hostage rope...

Maybe have it to where it takes 10 seconds to apply, and if you move, it breaks the attempt? Obviously you couldn't do that in a real hostage situation, because you'd be at gunpoint and have to follow fearRP. But if you're in public and someone just runs up and tries it, you could easily just move an inch. You could also call an admin as well..
EDIT: Damnit, didn't read Jake's post. But yeah, lol...

Good idea Lone. Maybe not ten but something like that.
The only thing with this idea is that if it is cheap enough I am positive that some *** is going to come on and tie a bunch of AFK people and people who are simply talking and not moving. So something needs to be done for that.
Also police need to have a way to undo the ties. When they release a hostage they may come out still tied and well...they need to be untied haha.

How about strength of 1 and knife, you could cut a man free from rope.
If you have a knife already equipt and they failed to make you holster it, with strength of 2 maybe you could cut yourself free? (If they search you IC and take all your, then you still use it whilst bound that would be punishable)
3 strength will allow you to break free, however it's a lengthy process which makes noise and a single push will stop it, or it consumed stamina very quickly. This means if you freed quickly you'd be too tired to run.
So if you are caught with your pants down and bound, if you lack a knife you can bust free with difficulty.
It takes a while to bind someone too, so it wouldn't be done in public in mass. Maybe the rope's strength decays over time making it easier to break from the longer you're bound, and (once again) the binder's strength affects the endurance of the rope.
