I tried to get onto HL2RP and for some reason it won't let me enter because "Your map [maps/rp_city45_catalyst_x1e_r.bsp] differs from the server's." I tried to re-download the map, and it still does this. Can someone please help me?

Download the version on the forums, and follow the instructions on how to install the map/etc.

That. Or manually go into your garry's mod folder and remove your current version of the map from there, then allow the server to automatically download the map again for you.

I tried manually re downloading it and it says the same thing. When I try to delete it and let the server download it for me, it won't even attempt to connect.

Put into the right folder, and voilà, you have the map and whatever was missing out of it. And yes, it does work because that's what I used when I reinstalled Steam and Garry's Mod.

Okay now whenever I try to go into a server, the loading screen pops up and says "connecting to server" for 2 minutes and stays with 2 bars. Then it fails to connect after 4 retries. I don't know what that did, but it screwed up my garrys mod. If anyone else has a brighter Idea, I'm going to reset my garry's mod.

I re-installed my garry's mod, it didn't do anything. I tried playing TF2 with my friend and a similar thing happened. I was able to get into servers, but then after about 30 seconds I lost connection - even with my friends on skype - and was not able to get back on ANY servers. This is really annoying me. If anyone has answers its catalyst gaming. I REALLY hope someone can help me. Not somone, but someone.

It seems to be very strange problem, try verifying game cache files.

Sounds more like a connection issue than trying to blame it on the map. A map won't fuck up connections to the servers like that. Have you checked all your firewall settings to make sure it is allowing Steam and HL2.exe access and that ports are forwarded in your router settings?
Also, it could generally be your files for the Source Engine that have messed up if it keeps happening with your Source games, try verifying your cache for every Source game.

I use McAfee and I don't know how to turn off the firewall. It says in the main info that it's on, and when i click firewall settings it says "firewall is now off, would you like to turn it on?" so i hit Turn it on and it immediately switches back to the off position BUT when I go back to the general info it says it's on. This is really pissing me off. Can anyone help me because I've been waiting for 3 and a half weeks to play some of these games.

Uninstall the stupid firewall, McAfee seriously sucks. Try using some free alternatives, such as Kerio Personal Firewall, or Comodo Firewall. I am using the second one and I am happy with it.
