So this here will be a serious roleplay server too?

It's just a concept and a bit of brushwork at the moment but I think it could be worked to run for Catalyst.

So. What would this be used for exactly? Events?

Maybe make a vote once the map is done, Inue Pass or Refugee for outlands. Or this could just be made for events. IDK just ideas.

I don't really intend to replace Statua's maps so maybe it's a possibility for another server or for events.

Not sure what I will call this event, but for me it look like something like..... Company of heroes(now in first person)

Three control points with food, medicine, weapons, ammo used to survive

The resistance's job is to maintain these checkpoints to provide them protection from the combine

The combine's job is to prevent them from getting the control points or might use them for themselves.

Moved to Creations > Mapping for public discussion.

Extract this current beta of the Resistance trenches to your Half Life 2/EP2/CSS maps folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?c1dch0py2wuwv2v

Love it. Gonna add a heap of atmosphere for most people, I think. The way the entire map is formed really screams survival.

I love how the trenches are done, is this like the main resistance base?

What I don't understand is the harbor, Airwatch base. It seems too close to the trenches and there isn't really a way to get past the airwatch base although this may just be because it's not the full map.

A nice suggestion would be implement a neighboring OTA trench/base of operations and they'd have skirmishes between the two trenches, as of now it's quite confusing for the map layout. I really love the feel of the trenches and I think if you made it so they were confined to the underground hideouts and stationed outposts along with the trenches for transportation I think it would feel really nice.

Anyway, I look forward to a demo of the full map.

Outlands is boring as fuck right now (I played it a lot of times on Outlands servers before Ineu Pass was released) and I need something new to spice up my experience. Is this going to be a official map for Catalyst-Gaming or just a map-switch-to-a-event thing?

I'd have to vote this for Outlands. Though it feels a lot more based towards Combine roleplay. The map just needs more space to run around in. I like the fact that there is only one main resistance base though. As HL2 you saw all the rebels stuck together regardless, and I think this would bring something along like the Alliance was back when the bunker was still in tact.

Or we could just open another outlands, I feel like it would work.

"Rebels" stick to outposts located through the various canals and forrests, however that's not to say (at least in our canon/server) that other groups simply don't exist anywhere - I still like the map, however

This map isn't intended to replace Statua's current map on the Outlands server. RoflWaffle has already given me the go-ahead to work on this map for future use on a possible second server.

Survival is a major point for the map. Resistance groups will be forced to gather supplies from hostile environments while the Combine forces

The concept is to place an emphasis on all aspects of HL2RP (resistance, citizen/refugee, CCA) whilst attempting to keep a balance between their interactions with each other. Who knows? Maybe a detachment of units will be the ones trying to survive?

Yes, that is the main area which is controlled by resistance personnel.

I had the harbor joined to the trenches on the first week of development when I was still trying to figure things out. It may very well up being sealed off and either deleted or moved.

Everything that the Combine forces need can be found in the prison complex or on the dreadnought. The trenches are quite costly to construct due to the sheer number of entities and arrangement of displacements and I think that the resources could be better spent building the three points of interest in the map.

Anyway, I look forward to a demo of the full map.

Hopefully I'll pick this up after the next city map update and aim for a release in the mid-year of 2013.
