Introductions / Re: Hello« on: February 27, 2015, 05:09:40 PM »Quote Is it difficult that both of your parents are deaf? Like, are there times when you wish they weren't because you couldn't do some things (idk what) that require hearing? Yes it can, and some times not. It hard to describe, such as Im able to watch TV on full volume when everyone is asleep in their bed, its very important that they are in their bed, because they can feel the vibrations from the tv. Then theres another struggle I deal with, I'll never know whats it like to having hearing parents. They lastly there are times where I wish they could hear. Such as moving stuff THIS IS ANNOYING TO DEAL WITH. So last week I was moving drywall into my house with my dad, the back end fell off (its really dark right now and he cant see in the dark) so my dad thought I was holding the back end. Nope, there he goes dragging the drywall into the house without knowing I wasnt holding the back. But yeah its a pain 3

Quote Is sign language actually like a "translation" from another language? For example, do you "read" sign language in English (or something else) in your head, or is it just a complete separate language? Yes, sign language is just another way to speak a language, sorta like Braille, and Morse code. Sign language can actually mean several different languages. I speak ASL which is American Sign Language (English). I know a few people that speak FSL which is French Sign Language. 5
