Denied Authorizations / Re: Felix Spectre's Authorization Application

I don't see why you would want a katana
They're not sturdy at all and they break easy
Only plus side is that they're sharp and somewhat light
Katanas are made from the strongest steel known currently to man, they don't "Break easy" at all, one can slice through two inches of bamboo easily and they keep their sharpness a very long time.

However I think the idea of a Katana in Outlands/city is useless and a cliche, you'll never properly use it and overall a knife is better for city. They're very long and impossible to hide and unless you're close its useless with out the proper training.
Though it does appear that he was trained to use one, finding one in City 17 or outlands would be impossible due to the rarity of the /useful ones/, as they can take years to make and cost thousands of dollars.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: High Command RP Ramble
« on: March 29, 2013, 12:55:36 AM »
I /may/ be a little lost here but, unless you have a reason to check the footage/check for the weapons serial(Which is bullshit because not even the best CCA unit RPs that bullcrap anyway, and keeping track of a database of every firearm the CCA has would be massive, plus it would most likely get passed off as a training pistol/extra sidearm.) then unless you get a reason for them to be checked, then you can't really use it, and depending on how its done the footage may show nothing, you can't have cameras covering every angle at every moment in every room, the wiring would be impossible, not to mention you have to allow for /oversight/. As for DNA and all that, unless it was RPed THEN AND THERE, it shouldn't be a factor.

Personally I think what Airborne did was a good thing, it makes for character development and it shows that the CCA isn't all "LOL WE'RE UBER BADASSES THAT S2K EVER LUL REBEL ON SIGHT!" like most people think.
Perhaps ya'll should realize that we throw canon out a lot to make for better RP, but when people start bitching that are either high ranking CCA or a large group of people, everyone seems to forget that.

The union(And their forces) aren't perfect, stop assuming that they are; and maybe allow for a /little/ roleplay? I remember being bored as fuck as high command and I was the leader of the most interesting division at the time.

I personally think(From a civilian perspective) that it should be allowed to RP out to the very end.

What do you think of me?
Do you still remember what I was like back in PE?
Why did everyone always gang up on me in OC?
Will you buy an old friend Bioshock infinite?

Support & Help / Re: Need a cheap gaming mouse

Depending on your gaming style depends on wither or not you'll find the DPI changer useful, I use a RAT 5(A bit out of your price range) and I find it useful, mine you can set the settings for whatever you want. If you like twitch shooting and sniping then you'll be fine with that Kronic recommended, but I have mine set based on how I like to play.

Table Talk / Re: The future of technology and human augmentation
« on: March 17, 2013, 10:35:16 AM »
As Deus Ex has already shown(And the Olympics) there would be a draft between "Augmented(Those aren't 'proper' augments)" people and Normal.
Take shooting sports for instance, If you were to replace my left arm with a bionic, even a modern day one I would have an advantage over a normal person. I could hold the rifle or bow perfectly steady and shoot perfect all the time. And in a competition that sometimes seems like who can spend the most wins, that won't help anyone at all.

Now in Deus Ex(Not HR) you have nano implants that help at the cellular level. Those would be much much more welcomed because they don't have to cut your arm off.

For some of the things in Human revolution... I place us less than five years away from what /they/ would consider basic augments. I've been curious about these sorts of things for a very long time now and I have been watching. in 2003 the most advance thing we had was a piece of plastic and metal that attached to the "Stump" now we have the blades, basic nerve interfacing, and more advance designs overall.
If I was asked if I wanted to replace my limb with a HR style augment, I would take a while to decide, What limb would it be? Why would I want to/need to replace it. Whats the downsides, How would it effect the people around me/my competition. How would I benefit from it.
If I lost my limbs in the line of duty(say military) or in a car crash, yes I would want something like in Deus Ex, but I wouldn't go crazy and all out with it.

Social Discussion / Re: The "To this day" project.
« on: March 12, 2013, 10:28:46 PM »
bullying is the result of not standing up for yourself and nothing else. of course, when you've got an actual excuse not to like being mentally retarded it's fucked up but if you're an ordinary kid getting bullied and you don't stand up for yourself, you deserve it.
Thank you, Ayn Rand. Where is your degree in psychology? If you'd care to open a book (though I recognize that as a high school dropout with failing grades at that, your reading level may be a little low) you may realize that bullying is generally the result of innate, fixed unique character traits. Those are things we cannot effect. And while standing up for yourself will prevent bullying initially, slowly mental disorders can potentially grow, making you even weaker and weaker, and preventing your ability to stand up for yourself. Bullying is the result of others not standing up for their fellow brothers, and people being assholes. Saying that a kid deserves to get bullied because he can't stand up for himself is like saying that a woman deserves to get raped because she can't fight off her assailant.
there's absolutely no reason to bring anyones intelligence in to this argument, stop feeding your fuckin ego. school means fuck all but that's a whole different debate so I'm not even going to start. anyone who has been bullied in their life and grew a pair and stood up for themselves solved their problem, and if you don't want to actually change yourself for the better then oh well, that sucks for you. bullying isn't something that will ever stop because it's part of human nature.
I reiterate: You're not a psychologist. Humans are far too complex of creatures for there to be a general fix-it-all to bullying like "Grow a pair!" That generalization works for some of us, of course. I'm not bullied because 1) I'm a pretty likable guy, IRL, and 2) I'm confident and know how to stand up for myself. But some people don't have the emotional strength to grow from bullying like you suggest. All people are different. That's why there will never be some grand solution to bullying. And on a final note, if you'd care to stop throwing stones from your glass house, you would realize that my sneer at your intelligence was because of your own egotism; that is, the arrogant attitude that led/leads you to believe that you could possibly conjure up the solution to a complex problem for the entirety of human beings, all unique and complex in their own rights.
as I already said earlier, there are people who have reasons as to why they can't stand up for themselves, and obviously giving them shit isn't okay. people with no mental issues who still find that they can't in reality can and just don't want to make a change in their life, which is their problem.
So, what you're saying is that if you're an ass to me, I'm the one who should change?
i'm saying it's human nature for people to be assholes and you can't change human nature, and therefore should adapt.
It's human nature for people to be emotionally sensitive and you can't change human nature, and therefore you should adapt and not be an ass to people, save they be asses to you.
Pack mentality, pick on the weak, they either move off or become strong. I /used/ to be bullied, but I stood up for myself. A lot of times people take things WAY to far(On both sides) and kids are kids, a lot of times it isn't serious and it gets taken too far by the bullied. Some times the bully takes it too far. One source of the problem is that if a kid gets hit/attacked/bullied in school, they /can't/ fight back with out getting suspended. In fact in places even if the kid is just getting whaled on he'll still get in trouble. Kids should be encouraged to stand up for themselves, not punished.

I've already stated that I was under an OOC misconception that lead me to follow you either intentional or unintentional.
You're using circular logic to try to get us to contradict our selves. And I would still /LOVE TO KNOW WHY WE WERE PKED TO START WITH/ from the people who did it.

I don't remember /EVER/ making a indirect to direct threat to your Vortigaunt.

24
Also Kronos, you /knew/ that I didn't know you brushed it off or decided not to do it. Yet you didn't tell me or anything. And knowing the knowledge you /KNEW/ I would have followed you expecting/believing it was part of what we had talked about.

If that were the case, then a lot of people would be comitting metagame. I wouldn't just go up and say "I don't care about this. Its stupid." I didn't tell you just to be nice really. I didn't know what you would do really. I can't read your mind. The fact that you're assuming I knew these things is inaccurate.
Its not really assuming or that big of a leap. There hasn't really been a case like then and you could have just said "No" say "I'll think about it" is so vague that there are so many ways to perceive it. The fact that you didn't directly say "No" and said "I'll think about it" and then follow it up with this seeing how you were planning this apparently for a month and then following it up with that? You can't say that you didn't know that I would have assumed that.

The difference Lone is there are OOC reasons involved, nothing wrong IC, just OOC.
And what exactly did I argue about that made Jonco change his mind away from a TK?(When was the steam chat?) Again, he also told me that he was the one that suggested the TK, and that he had nothing to do with the PK.

The vagueness of the your reply to the alliance idea and the fact that you were planning this doesn't help your case Kronos. And can you not transfer the screenshots to a flash card/your computer with a cable?

25
Also Kronos, you /knew/ that I didn't know you brushed it off or decided not to do it. Yet you didn't tell me or anything. And knowing the knowledge you /KNEW/ I would have followed you expecting/believing it was part of what we had talked about.

26
The only NLR I've ever done before, was the whole bunker drama that Jonco said was not a PK event to start with.
Or the moving event, but that was a massive fail on both Statua's and the OTA's fault.

27
Jonco told me that PKing Matt and Eli wasn't his chose?

28
The whole being a white knight part annoyed me.
I also never made a threat to Garum other than steam chat.
Was the meeting planned? No, it wasn't. But I was still under the OOC misconception that there was indeed going to be an alliance.
When have I lied?

29
That maybe ya'll should get your facts straight before you accuse someone of being a lier.

I can't see how the amount of damage would count for a PK. As for the TK Keiji said that your group doesn't go for PK's, The OOC drama was mainly started /due to the PK/ I would have left this alone and just moved on, but the fact that it became a PK almost out of no where makes me want both answers and it undone. I really /really/ enjoying playing the Old man.

You confirmed that the chat happened. And Pi it's not arguing when you're putting words in my mouth and accusing me of being something I'm not.

30
The point of that was that Pi had attacked me like a dog over that in TS, when you just confirmed it yourself.
