Whelp... today was alright, Been an Oh-Two for a while, the job is quite nice get to order people around and I feel good about it.
Spoke to a recruit today, had some interesting conversations with her, tired as hell though. Haven't seen Lance in quite some time
he's probably doing something off duty or some other work... who knows. Don't quite know why everyone pours out their hearts over their
terminals, any tech-savvy person can just pull up those logs with relative ease. Was able to decrypt a few ones, pretty boring stuff, people
seem to be pretty torn up by working with Civil Protection but I like it. Good food, good pay, good conversation. I don't quite get why I'm writing these logs but I guess they're a good way to pass the train ride back home. Might also come in handy when it comes to memory replacements, if I ever submit to getting those. I'm off to bed, will probably write more tomorrow.

Today was pretty damn exhausting, to say the least. Mostly mental exhaustion though. Life inside of the CCA is different now that I'm the one pissing in the lemonade and not the one's drinking. Lower ranking units come to me for requests, not the other way around, it really feels like I get to lead, like I matter. The deaths of citizens seem to be haunting me less and less every day of the job, which is nice because I REALLY need the extra sleep. Hung around in the train station as well and had a few drinks with Lance, it all was pretty good, relaxing and enjoyable, pretty different from a normal day's work. Later in the day something happened, I was taking a bit of a nap inside of Hand to Hand, heard some screaming from medical and booked it there. Did some minor surgery on a few units who were injured, mostly basic flesh wounds, they'll make it out alright. One of the higher up, an Officer I believe, helped me out with a unit with a severely sprained ankle. He didn't really help much, he sort of just came in, did the easiest job and swooped up what little of the glory that was present. Well uh... I'm signing off here, I'll probably write more tomorrow.

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Matthias had always lived a simple albeit orderly life. Aspiring from an early age to become a part of the well oiled machine that kept society in check. Throughout high school and college he maintained average grades and built his life around a schedule nearly set in stone, this schedule rarely changed throughout his live. Matthias happily lived under his meticulously planned out regime of work, sleep and study. However life took a bit of a drastic change when the portals storms began and the Combine started knocking on Earth's door.

Torn out of his comfort zone, Matthias became an absolute wreck. He lived his life in a blur before the occupation of the Universal Union. Life before the occupation involved moving from place to place, trying to find a calling in life, socializing with others and attempting to settle down.These efforts failed miserably due to the chaos caused by the portal storms. Strangely, his savior wasn't the unification of the human race against enemies unknown to man, but the enslavement brought upon his fellow men by the Universal Union.

His life now had order, when Civil Protection asked him to jump he said "How high?". Matthias was no longer lost but content, he no longer had to worry about something breaking his monotonous life into chaos and shambles again, he was living in his comfort zone, all was well. As time began to pass Matthias became unsatisfied with his life, maybe it was the lack of food, lack of excitement in life or the growing ambition to be better than the citizens around him.

Matthias began looking for ways to "get above" the others, his first option was the Civil Workers Union, a group of Loyalists who sat at the feet of the Combine bending at their every whim. The thought of serving with people like that enraged Matthias's new mentality, he no longer wanted to listen to "The Man" he wanted to BE "The Man". Eventually his ambitions began eating away at him until he finally succumbed to them. It might have been the better rations, the clean uniform or the power given to each Unit, but Matthias knew his sole calling in life was to become part of the Union. He figured he would simply deal with whatever dangers came his way and after obtaining Loyalist status, he sent his application in for the Combine Civil Authority.

Well-Disciplined, ambitious, hard working, lawful and loyal.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
For Matthias I expect the CCA to be a test of mental, physical and moral resilience. It'll be a new experience for him, working to keep the well oiled machine maintained instead of living under it an only receiving the benefits.

Personally, I expect the CCA to be an entirely new aspect of roleplay for myself, not having actually roleplayed a Civil Protection Unit or OTA Soldier yet. Even though I am inexperienced in the matter I am willing to learn quickly and give it my all. As someone before me said, "Variety is the spice of life."

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Matthias Clarke was born in Chicago, Illinois to a family of First Generation Norwegian Immigrants. Before his birth his mother and father were able to achieve a stable living by doing various odd jobs until his father finished Law School, eventually becoming an affluent lawyer and projecting the family into wealth. As a child and teenager, Matthias was spoiled, his father gave him anything and everything he could ever want. Matthias was well educated, instead of being sent to a public school like his peers he was private schooled and his relationship with his family was average, fighting with them here and there but keeping the home civil and unbroken. 

Throughout school, Matthias built his life around order. He lived under his schedule and shut out anything that wasn't part of his reclusive lifestyle. He finished his schooling and eventually began a clerk at a local Post Office. His life was peaceful and organized, even though Matthias didn't have many friends he was happy doing his job for the "greater good". This would all change when the sudden appearance of the portal storms.

Once the portal storms hit, Matthias's lifestyle changed dramatically, he began wandering from place to place inside of the now walled off population center of Chicago. He socialized with others, searching for his place in life and praying for the order that was nowhere to be found in this nearly-apocalyptic society. Then... along came an answer to his prayers, The Universal Union came down upon Earth, unleashing their power and crushing our entire military within a time-span of Seven Hours, which soon became known as the "Seven-Hour War".

After this cataclysmic event, cities began popping up and citizens began getting transferred to different cities with numbers instead of names, (45, 22, 16 and 1). Matthias ended up in City 45 and it was almost as if his prayers were answered, Cities now had what he most longed for: Order, Peace and Civility. Civilization was practically the same as it was before the war aside from a few key differences: Elderly and Children were killed off, leaving only those that could work, A suppression field was put up, preventing pregnancy in women, rations lines became one of the few ways to obtain meals and Civil Protection was instated.

At first to Matthias, Civil Protection looked like pitting humans against humans in a hole and seeing which one would last longer but after a while he began seeing it as a society erected by the Union to keep order in the cities. They were given better meals, better clothing and better housing. They had power, comfort and they controlled the "Machine" that society was currently described as. Every single one of these factors appealed to Matthias, he wanted to be a symbol of Order, a human being working for the greater good of the Universal Union and by joining the Combine Civil Authority he could do just that. After achieving Loyalist status he made his choice and wrote wrote up his application, sending it in shortly after, now he waits for the response, waiting on the edge of his seat in anticipation, waiting for his story to continue.

7. What�s your most memorable quality RP experience?
My most memorable RP experience was at a Fallout Roleplay community known as New Era RP. It involved a series of actions that I performed which got the entire server population out to get a warrant on my character. Throughout the course of several days I used my wit and negotiation skills to get the server wide bounty off of my head and save my character's ass. My small band of friends made a comical situation about the entire ordeal claiming the people after us didn't know what they were in for. The reason this ordeal was one of my most memorable experiences was because I had to experiment with all different kinds of roleplay, espionage, psychology, fear and even survival. The part that I enjoyed most about the event was that the ENTIRE server had something to do, bonds were made between characters and as far as I know everyone had fun.
