Social Discussion / Re: Bullying, good? bad?
« on: May 12, 2012, 12:08:29 PM »
Bullying is a necessary thing in society for children. Today's society is going down a shithole because schools don't give the "real world" to children, making everyone a winner and everyone equal. Equality hits bullying hard, but at what cost? Society is going down the porcelain throne anyways because of the amount of entitlement people have (pirating things from poor indie devs) and the fact that children are not shown that there is no equality in the real world and that not everyone is a winner.

That's one way of looking at it, at the same time though you assume that bullying ends well for all? Some people are bullied simply for being different - that might seem like a cliché look on it but it’s true. There is a kid in my school who suffers from some mental problems and is mocked and bullied for it - he came pretty close to killing himself because he saw himself as an outcast and that wasn't his fault. Are you saying that this was a good thing?

There are many examples as well were young people have ended their lives because they just didn't know how to handle the situation and there are other cases where things have taken a turn for the worse; the columbine massacre?

Are these all good things? Will this help make people stronger or will it just destroy their confidence before they even have a chance? I see your argument but it is an iffy one and can be easily debated.
I have disabled brothers (both have down-syndrome) and luckily they go to a school full of other disabled/ mentally retarded people like them. One of my brothers can speak some English, but I can understand this type of bullying when you make fun of someone else due their lack of mental capability. I will say it again, some bullying is necessary, but bullying that would want to make someone kill themselves should be stopped. This will never be stopped though, it can only be contained a little.

I don't want to reply without you finishing your thought, however I think I should steer you to this point.

We all here use Steam, a digital delivery system which allows you instant access to thousands of games for extremely low prices. THIS is what kills piracy. DRM hurts the consumer, not the pirates. Pirates will always find a way around anything you put in place, no matter how extensive it is. The only way to battle piracy is to offer a better alternative.

I used to pirate games a lot because of lazyness, which is what most people did then as well. I don't want to go all the way to walmart to get the new game when I could just sit here and it'll be done in a few hours. What Steam does is offer such a fast and easy way to get games that people find themselves buying games they don't even play, just because it's such a good deal.

Gabe Newell said (and I'm too lazy to find the quote so I'm paraphrasing) that Steam is doing so well in the piracy world because the 1-click buying and unbelievably common special offers make it impossible to resist. Digital Delivery IS the piracy killer, not DRM.
Yes your right, but it is also the price of video games. Skyrim was pirated on the PC more than it was actually sold.

Unless you have been living under a rock for these recent years, you know the gaming system we all know as the PC, which not only a gaming system, is rapidly changing. First, I'd like to represent an a few issues, some that need to be solved and others that can not, that is hurting PC Gaming. Lets start off with number one and that is PC Video Game Piracy. Now I already know what the comments are going to be, "I WHANNA GET THE GAMES FOR FREE!". But, you have to realize, Video Gaming Piracy, especially for the PC is a very huge problem. Even though the PC is home to the most innovative games and the best modifications, we need to realize that we too have some "cons" to our gaming platform. The biggest con is obviously video game piracy on the PC. Let me start off with a few facts first about PC Gaming Piracy. According to a CNN Article of September 9, 2010, over 4.1 million copies of Modern Warfare 2 were illegally pirated. According to an article from Kotaku, the top pirated games on the PC for 2011 were 1. Crysis 2 (3,920,000) (March 2011) 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (3,650,000) (Nov. 2011) 3. Battlefield 3 (3,510,000) (Oct. 2011) 4. FIFA 12 (3,390,000) (Sept. 2011) 5. Portal 2 (3,240,000) (April 2011). I will give in a few more sources later in the argument about how many games were actually bought and are not illegal copies. When you look at this, you might start having a seizure, but the truth is that this is happening. This is happening everyday, hurting companies, both big and small. As you all know, big companies have the ability to have games on all platforms with the snap of their fingers (as long as they have the money),which is a major reason why they are still alive. But what about the Indie devs? Where are they on this whole scheme of things? Well let me show you how piracy is effecting indie games. I believe that the best way to start off how indie devs are affected from PC gaming piracy is by showing you, briefly, the harsh history of the development company known as Indie Stone. If you do know what the Indie Stone is, you'll know that they are making the game known as "Project Zomboid". Project Zomboid was utterly almost killed when numerous project zomboid codes were stolen and of course that their game was pirated numerous times. I have been with Project Zomboid since it started out on Indie Stone. This is outrageous and if anyway you can justify this then you will get 1k personally from me. Don't give some god damn source that says 'Oh, well piracy helps the PC gaming industry". Oh knock it off. We all know if it wasn't for PC GAMER magazine, Project Zomboid would be dead and forgotten about months ago. WIP
THIS IS A WIP, PLEASE POST YOUR OPINION ON THE TOPIC (The future of PC Gaming not only piracy), NOT THE POST I HAVE MADE UNTIL IT IS FINISHED (which I will finish very soon)

I simply believe that if weed becomes legal, the cannabis smoked must be government regulated so we can get out of the recession and make what is smoked pure (no coke or extra tar shit they put in over here in NYC). It should be regulated like alcohol (cant smoke it while driving and not allowed to smoke it in the workplace or jobs that require full attention). There should be an age limit of 21 to stop 16 year old idiots from smoking weed erry day and not focusing on life. PS: If your going to support Ron Paul just because he will legalize weed, your an idiot as well if you smoke weed when your 16, don't mess up when your that young.

General Discussion / Re: Top 10 Movies: REBORN
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:55:09 PM »
Fancy probably has the first movie list I can actually agree with :P

Don't really have a top ten as such but a few movies I liked:
Pulp Fiction (not copying you just a great film)
The Big Lebowski
The deer hunter
The green mile
LOTR (cause it cool like that :D)
No country for old men
Fargo
Donnie Darko
Toy story :3

Only 9 but I can't think of a tenth that really sticks out (probally haven't seen it yet :D)
If I had spot 11 I'd add toy story, that had a lot of childhood nostalgia. I cried every movie.

Ok, number one, The Anonymous is a bunch of really stupid people that claim police brutality on the spot. If a police officer tells you to move, you better move because its for a reason. This police brutality bullshit that the media has driven into your minds is completely idiotic and just proves yet again how little respect we give  to those who protect our city streets.
Number two, the United States have attacked numerous countries for no good reason. So that means preserving democracy for all countries is not a good reason at all. The United States has something over 800 military bases in the world and we should not expect to be attacked for it? This is what I have to say to this, lol no. Bill Clinton, a president which is praised by our country for balancing the national budget, is a criminal and has much to do with 9/11 as Osama Bin Laden and Al Queda does. He did a 200 million dollar bombing on numerous Arab countries in 1999. The reason for the bombing is highly debatable, but the main reason that people saw it for was he was trying to gain some "fame" from the war republicans in Congress as this was around the same time he was on the edge of getting fired for his sexual affairs. Do you call that a good president? I don't. I don't think Osama Bin Laden is a great guy, but I do believe that the plane that went into the towers was partially justified as if we kill their children and innocent civilians they have the right to retaliate. The War on Terror is also entirely unsuccessful. The fact still remains that there was over 100k civilians killed. I believe the soldiers who fought in that war are highly courageous, not because they were aiming to kill a terrorist, but mainly they usually get the government out of a tight spot. The only reason why we are fighting the war on terror is because we started.

Asterisk Gaming had a Diamond position, every fucking bought it, it cost 100 dollars.
That is insanely stupid tbh. CG isn't a corperate bussiness, its a gaming server.
