Suggestions / Legal Transport
« on: June 02, 2013, 01:20:59 PM »
So we have illegal smuggling which gets you a lot of cash now. What about something legal like transporting goods from MTL to various locations like Subs BP, the nexus, etc. This would be a sort of unlisted job for say. Hired contractor. There would be no limit and the reward would be small like $50 per delivery. That way it makes you a little more money then citizen paycheck and it accounts for gas used.

Accepted Suggestions / EMS and Fire Siren Stuff
« on: May 19, 2013, 02:15:27 PM »
The police have an alt siren so I thought 'why does the fire and ems have to be stuck with the boring BAAAGH horn?' So here's my suggestions;

For EMS

If your siren is on and you push alt, it restarts the sound from the beginning. This is called a manual. It's used when arriving on scene or when not using the siren for a full loop to go through intersections.

For Fire

Instead of the single truck horn, why not have a looping horn to play? This would only be needed while lights are on.

Or, this alternative for both

Have them play the pier/phaser sound. That's the third siren sound used mainly for intersections or people not moving out of the way.

Bottom line is, having that old air horn is just old and silly when you hear people using it.

Organizations / The Underground - REBORN
« on: May 18, 2013, 06:08:37 PM »

Black Markets and Events

Who are we?

The Underground is an organization that primarily hosts some, not so legal events. Some of the events we may host include street races, drift racing, and drags. When not running events, we are usually selling merchandise and illegal things to our buyers. We sell black market items such as car bombs, lockpicks, and molotovs. We also sell all sorts of weapons and ammunition, regardless the law. The Underground is not a growing or raiding org, however we may help allied orgs in raids if needed.

Sometimes, just to ward away the fuzz, we will help out the city. We may do things like repairing tunnels, washing the windows, or doing some roadwork. We are what we call ourselves, underground.

What do we sell?

We sell all the equipment and weapons you need from shotguns to Ak-47s to car bombs to padlocks and even life alerts. Our goal is to provide the best service and prices to our customers as possible and regardless the law, will ensure you get your stuff on time safely.

Some of our events.

These are usually brought up by discreet advertising. If people dont get the message, we will be blunt, however it increases the chance of cops and we dont need that. Watch for advertisements with the name 'The Underground' in them.

Street Racing

Street races are usually held at the gas station out of town beside subs. Sometimes they're circuits and sometimes they're sprints. Whatever the race is, if its over and there are cops, you will be called to collect your money after we are safe.

The entry fee is usually $1,000 and the winner of the race takes all but $1,000 which goes to 2nd place.

The tiers for vehicles fall under three categories: (subject to change)

Spoiler for Average Tier:
Voodoo
Romero
Hummer H2
Bobcat
Emperor
Cavalcade
Golf
PMP
BMW 507
Limo
Transit
BMW M5
Mini
ATV
Utility Van

Spoiler for Sports/Muscle Tier:
360 Spyder
Shelby
Rolls Royce
Porche 911
Oracle
Stallion
Caterham
Blista
Bently
Huntley
Charger
Minivan
Ferrari 250
Miura
Aston Martin

Spoiler for Super Tier:
Mitsubishi Evo
Bugatti Veyron
Lotus Elise
Audi R8
Corvette
Murcielago
Ferrari F50

Drift Racing

These are usually held at MTL and industrial. Vehicles are required to follow an obsitcal course whick can be completed easier by drifting then normal driving. Vehicles are not in any tier here as racing outcomes are more geared to skill.  Entries are done by a pot, however races are done in an elimination fashion.

Drag Racing

These are also held at the suburbs BP Gas station. The drags go from the gas station to the forest on the other side of the tunnel. FIrst person to pass the finish line wins. Entries are done by a pot, however races are done in an elimination fashion.

The Black Market

If any weapons are ever illegal or you need some complete illegal items such as car bombs, refer to these images for codenames.

Suggestions / Medic Improvements
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:47:36 PM »
Currently, the paramedic system is the exact same as it was 3 years ago. You smap your M2 to charge your paddle and hope it revives someone, or you spam your m1 with your health kit till you hear the heal sounds, and wait to see if the person says '1 MAOR PLOX'. Ths system is old, silly, and probably one of the most unrealistic systems in the game.

Updated this as of 02.06.13

The first aid kit

Instead of spamming M1 to heal someone and asking them if they need more, make it like the crafting progress bar or the refuel bar. The speed the bar fills is related to how much health they have.

While the bar is filling, play the looping bandaging sound from L4D (I can retrieve that for you if you wish) instead of the HL2 health kit sound.

Replace the hl2 first aid kit model with a more realistic model like the first aid kit from L4D. Most EMS carry red response bags so a hard plastic first aid kit doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The Defibs

As stated before, defibrilation alone cannot revive someone. You need to perform CPR. Have it like this.

One single swep called revive hands. Two functions, M1 runs CPR and M2 administers a shock. Here's how the system would work.

When you come up to the pt, you have to rapidly click mouse 1 to fill up a bar, simulating CPR. As soon as you start filling up the bar, the persons death timer stops so if you arrive 10 seconds before they die, they have a chance at living. Once the bar is full, it will say "DELIVER SHOCK" in which case you right click, delivering a shock. When that happens, you have a 1/4 chance at reviving the pt. If they are revived, move on to the next system, if not, repeat CPR until you can shock again. If you stop clicking CPR for 1000ms, the timer starts up again and you have to restart CPR. This eliminates medics dancing with the paddles to dodge bullets in a cop raid.

Newly Revived Patients

To make the hospital of use and to prevent people from going full bore after being revived, when someone is revived, they must be brought to the hospital within 10 minutes to be fully restored. If they fail to do this, they will fall unconscious again and will need to be revived.

This eliminates the need for a revive cooldown because if you are revived, you cant really do anything without risking it.

Ambulance vehicle changes

There needs to be at least 1 if not 2 more seats added to the back of the ambulance to accommodate patients.

The ambulance speed needs to be increased, or death timer when EMS is available needs to be lengthened. Responding to a call on the other side of the map with the ambulance is hard to do going 45mph. Not to mention dangerous.

Bug Reports / An old bug that's been neglected
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:30:50 PM »
I brought this up to Crap-Head early in the alpha testing but he just set it aside for another day. Well it is another day so I shal remind you guys of it.

In all emergency vehicles, the lights and sounds only render/play on your client if the vehicles origin is in your FOV. That means if you are in an ambulance driving in first person, you cant hear the siren nor see the lights, even if they're playing. This also means if there are emergency vehicles behind you or the cops are trying to pull you over, you will not hear it.

It would be nice for people to actually pull over instead of driving along because they cant hear the siren.

Suggestions / Multiple Characters
« on: April 30, 2013, 02:02:19 AM »
Basically have the ability to make multiple characters with different inventories for different forms of RP. Example, i currently have a male who is in the Emergency Services org. However ive been wanting to start up The Underground again. Cant really do that without putting bad thumb in the ES.

Basically, its giving players the chance to have characters with 2 reputations. I would have one character with a good emergency services rep whereas i have another character with a bad black market rep.

This could also work for skills. Say youre in a criminal org and want to rob with your buddies. However you also want to sell things. You can have one character for the org and another to sell stuff.

The characters wouldnt share anything and transferring of money and items between the two would be against the rules.

Suggestions / Life Alert Issue
« on: April 25, 2013, 12:10:23 AM »
There's no error or anything, however I've come across an issue where a life alert would go off and not show up. GO off and show for 10 seconds. Go off and show for 30 seconds. It never seems to last as long as the person is dying which it should.

If that's not realistic then remove the hid info and just make it print text into your chatbox "Life Alert activated at Industrial Tower." and of course have the pager go off too. (I'd actually prefer this)

News and Announcements / OCRP2 Level of Roleplay
« on: April 24, 2013, 12:14:39 AM »
It has come to our attention that many people are unaware of the level of roleplay for OCRP2. We also have noticed there isnt much, if anything, on the forums stating that it is semi serious.

We apologize for this and to all those who have received bans due to it or who have been bothered by administration about it. So here it is.

The level of roleplay required on both OCRP2 servers is: Semi-Serious

Click here to read up on guidelines for semi-serious roleplay.

Fixed Bugs / Buttons, Keys, Commands, whatever you wanna call em.
« on: April 23, 2013, 08:31:56 PM »
As a gov official, they periodically stop responding for a short period of time with no error or anything. Example. I push t to toggle my radio. It doesnt toggle for like 30 seconds. Same goes for lights, headlights, and sirens.

Guides / Examples of Good RP
« on: April 08, 2013, 01:32:36 AM »
Another guide I found. Lots of things in my archive. Good days. Anyways I cleaned this one up too. Full of good scenarios. I might add more to it as time goes on.

Properly roleplaying scenarios and still have fun.

We will go over a few situations which you may come across. We will go over, light car accidents, activities of daily living, powergaming, and entertainment.

Light Accidents

So your car got in a little fender bender with another car. Usually you just back up and continue but that's gmod and this is life (RP). If you're driving a brand new corvette and someone rear ends you, two things will happen.
-There will be significant damage to the rear and possibly some damage to the frame
-you will get whip lash

So at this point, some dumbass in an emperor forgot to stop and rear ends your vette. Now your a bit pissed cause he just screwed up your nice car.

Statua moans and rubs the back on his neck. (whip lash)
Statua gets out of his car to see the damage.

At this point, the other player should get out of their car too.

Statua looks at the dent the emperor left in the back of his vette. He then looks at Venatio.

Statua: What the hell man? Could you not see I was stopped?

Venatio looks at the damage. 'No I wasn't paying attention' still looking at the damage.

Statua: So what do you plan do do huh? This is gonna cost me at least 6 grand to get fixed.

Venatio: I don't even have 6 grand.

Statua: Do you at least have insurance?

Venatio: Yeah I do. *He goes back to his car*

Venatio takes his insurance papers from the golve box.

Statua takes his insurance papers from the golve box.

Venatio: Alright. *he returns to statua* Heres my paperwork.

Statua takes the papers and copies down the information he needs.

Statua hands both his and Venatios papers to Venatio.

Statua: Your turn.

Venatio takes the papers and copies down the information he needs.

Venatio: Here. *he hands back statuas insurance papers*

Statua: Thanks. *he snatches them from venatio*

Statua returns to his car and drives off.

Important things to remember are insurance information swapping, vehicle damage, human damage, and emotions about how much you gotta pay to get it fixed.

Activities of Daily Living

Everyone lives with the same needs. Hunger, sleep, pee, hygiene. You should rp these when you can. A good time would be when the server is quiet and there's nothing to do. Don't leave the server or it will get empty pretty quick. This is a good way to pass time, improve on rp, and if done right, have a little fun. We'll do a morning routine.

Statua groans as he sits up on his bed.

Statua rubs his face and stands up slowly. He yawns while stretching his arms wide.

Statua goes for the door to the bathroom. He closes the door behind him.

Statua drops his pants and releives himself in the toilet. He yawns again while doing so.

Statua flushes the toilet, pulls up his pants, and washes his hands. He returns to his room.

Statua closes the door behind him and takes off his clothes.

Statua grabs a towel and wraps it around his waist, covering his genitals.

Statua returns to the bathroom and turns on the shower.

Statua hangs up his towel and steps in the shower.

Statua lathers himself with soap and shampoo.

Statua scrubs away the dirt and stink that was once attached to him.

Statua rinses off the soap and shampoo. He turns off the shower.

Statua steps out and dries himself off.

Statua wraps himself in the towel and returns to his room.

Statua closes the door and opens his wardrobe.

Statua takes out an undershirt, a polo short, socks, underwear, and a pair of cargo pants.

Statua dresses himself and proceeds to the kitchen.

Statua opens the fridge and takes out milk and oj.

Statua takes out a box of miniwheats and a bowl.

Statua mixes the mini wheats and milk in a bowl. He grabs a spoon.

Statua fills a glass with oj and takes everything to the table. He takes a seat.

Statua starts to eat his cereal and occasionally takes a sip from his oj.

Statua pulls out a newspaper, still eating breakfast. He reads the paper.

Statua finishes the cereal and downs the rest of the oj. He sets the paper aside.

Statua gets up, taking the empty bowl and cup from the table.

Statua puts the dishes in the sink and returns to his room.

Statua takes a backpack from his closet and holds it in one hand.

Statua grabs his keys, phone, and wallet from the end table by the bed.

Statua grabs a granola bar of the counter. 'I'm off to work guys. Later' he waves.

Now I take it that's long but it blows at least 20 minutes which is filler inbetween events. You can do passive rp (what I just did) with yourself or other people.

Another type of daily activity would be driving to the store or out for lunch. Remember to do these things. Oj doesn't spawn in the fridge. I won't go over this but remember that just because someone doesn't own the supermarket, you can still rp buying groceries and the such.

Powergaming

This one is a hard one. This takes lots of logical reasoning, patience, and sacrifice. Sometimes you can play this as a game with a D6 (6 sided dice). You have to understand your character and the opposing characters traits. If one is more agile than the other, that one has a higher chance at dodging an attack. You can decide that if they are stronger, they could win or you roll a d6. If you get a 5 or a 6, you win, if you get a 1, 2, 3, or 4, then they win. Let's go over a scenario where someone fights for an envelope of money.

Jason is stronger than Paul but Paul is more agile. An envelope sits on the counter.

Remember. The point of this is to give the other player a chance to win.

Chances by d6
Strength 1-4: Jason wins, 5-6, Paul wins
Agility 1-4: Paul wins, 5-6 Jason wins

Jason heads toward the counter to take the envelope.
Paul jumps in the mans way. "Stop! That's not yours!"

Jason tries to push him aside.

D3

Paul stumbles but quickly gets up to his feet.

Jason continues to the package. "I can do what I want you little runt."

Paul quickly jumps for the package.

Jason raises his hand in an attempt to stop Paul.

D4

Paul twists his body and dodges Jasons hand. He grabs the envelope and rolls off the end of the table.

Jason dives for Paul.

D5

Paul gets crushed by Jason and let's go of the envelope.

Jason, still standing on Paul, takes the envelope and shoves it in his pocket.

Paul attempts to push Jason off his body

D2

Jason ramains on pauls body and throws a punch at his face

D6

Paul gets knocked out cold by the blow.

Jason gets up, kicks Paul and starts to leave. "Nobody gets in my way."

You don't need to use a d6 of you both agree on a suitable and realistic outcome. The d6 is only used when both players want to win.

To decide whether the d6 is to be used for say agility or strength, think of the situation. If you have to dodge the attack or dive for something, it's agility. If you need muscular strength to acheive something, it's obviously strength like moving a heavy object.

You must remember that you can also powergame on yourself. If you're alone building something and a wood pallet falls on you, you can't move it if you're weak so take a d6 for yourself. An example would be 1-3 moves the pallet where 4-6 it stays where it is.

Remember the golden rule to roleplaying. You're not playing to win. You're playing to have fun and visit your imagination.

Last but definitely not the least is entertainment. Everyone needs to have some entertainment unless they want to go insane. Some things you can do is surf the web, watch tv, read a book, play a board game, or play a sport.

Street racing, events, parties, or anything else that is active is not a form of passive entertainment.

We'll do a quick event of someone watching tv.

Jason switches on the TV.

Jason flips through the channels and comes across mythbusters.

Jason sits back and watches the program, occasionally sipping his coke.

During this time, I like to switch monitors and surf the web or watch YouTube. You can do whatever you please but remember to interact if something happens in game.

Just remember to do these things the way I listed and people like me or nikolai who seriously roleplay serious will be happy to keep you. Good luck, see you out there!
