Suggestions / Sound Changes Suggestions Thread
« on: November 14, 2013, 04:53:37 PM »
So, right now, we have a bunch of sounds that are meh. They do their job but, i think we could use something better. I've already changed a bunch of sounds right now which I'll list below so you guys can comment on them. If you think there's any sounds that need changed, suggest some changes and I'll start throwing things together.

Here's what I have so far:

Sirens & Horns
Ambulance Primary
Ambulance Secondary
Firetruck Primary
Firetruck Horn (Only when siren is on
Police Primary
Police Secondary
Horn for all gov vehicles
Truck Airhorn

Everything Else
Vehicle Starting Sound
House Alarm
Ringtone
Text Message (The sounding like they're distant is intended)
Turbo Sound
Lottory Win Sound

Stuff Added to this Post
Defibs

Suggestions / Paramedic System Redesign
« on: November 14, 2013, 04:42:37 PM »
My old thread was changed so many times, just got fconfusing and shit. Ill repost. I wanna know what you guys think about this:

The first aid kit

Instead of spamming M1 to heal someone and asking them if they need more, make it like the crafting progress bar or the refuel bar. The speed the bar fills is related to how much health they have.

While the bar is filling, play the looping bandaging sound from L4D (I can retrieve that for you if you wish) instead of the HL2 health kit sound.

Replace the hl2 first aid kit model with a more realistic model like the first aid kit from L4D. Most EMS carry red response bags so a hard plastic first aid kit doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The L4D model and sound would be packed into the FastDL.

The Defibs

Defibs alone arent gonna bring a person back to full health. It'l just get their heart going. If someone is revived with the defibs, their HP should be set to 10% so you have to use the med kit too.

Also with the defibs, spamming right click is quite annoying. Why not keep the same system but have a progress bar that fills up by holding right click. If you fill it up to 75%, you get a 1/4 chance at reviving the PT. If you fill it to 100% you get a 1/3 chance at reviving the pt. After administering a shock, it resets the bar, regardless the charge.

It could definately use some sound changes too which i think I can handle.

Newly Revived Patients

To make the hospital of use and to prevent people from going full bore after being revived, when someone is revived, they must be brought to the hospital within 10 minutes to be fully restored. If they fail to do this, they will fall unconscious again and will need to be revived.

This eliminates the need for a revive cooldown because if you are revived, you cant really do anything without risking it.

Suggestions / Various suggestions brought back up
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:23:10 PM »
Ok so there's billions of suggestions out there, I could spend all night posting and bumping them. Or I could make a big post right here. So for all the suggestions past the ones I posted in today, here's the ones I though should be brought back up.

Allow government officials to use cellphones. No reason why they cant.

Accepted and completed.

Allow passengers to view 3rd person too. Like in hrp where you push space to see in 3rd person around the yacht.

Keys model added for hands.
(a model is apparently already made for scars?)

Coffee and doughnut food items.

Seatbelts. You ragdoll out the car if you crash your car going 35 MPH+

Towels to remove blood from floors and walls

Gas cans that add up to max 5% fuel so you can reach a station

Lamps that emit light

More drug production such as meth.

Automated unit number assigning to gov official organized into groups for the job (pd 1, fire 2, ems 3) (ex police 1-11, fire 2-02, ems 3-01) The unit number would just show up in front of their name on chat and voice.

Turning off gov radio temporarily (60 seconds, then automatically turns back on. you can still turn it off again)

Private Storage for items

Car bomb planting sounds

Character descriptions (displayed under your actual name like when you recognize someone in hl2rp)

Repair wrenches

Multiple character profiles (for different skill sets, reputations, etc)

Bullet penetration

Food/drink progress bar. Much like filling a vehicle, when you choose to eat/drink, a progress bar runs as if you where taking time to eat/drink. Would prevent people from firing back energy drinks in a split second when running.

Hats. Moneysink. Hatfortress2 lol but no. Seriously. Hats and other apparel items. Great moneysink.

Tow truck driver computer for figuring out who owns said car so they can call said person when they tow it.

Life alert prints pt location in chat as well as displaying it on your hud.

Ability to fill up cars you dont own. Possibly bring up a menu to choose which car to fill.

/911 only goes to dispatcher when dispatcher is online

iPhone radio using the music icon, you can listen to radio from your iPhone. It would play over "headphones" so you are the only one who can hear it.

Different phones. Cheap flip phones that only allow texting and calling. More expensive phones that allow more shit like above, the radio. Maybe it can open the internet. Choose various ringtones. Choose contacts.

Suggestions / Fuel Comsumption Discussion
« on: November 06, 2013, 08:32:13 PM »
Right now, fuel is consumed when your car is on. Doesn't matter what you're doing. This can be pretty annoying. Also, when you exit your vehicle and the engine is still on, there no real way to tell.

I think fuel consumption should be like 20% while idling and 100% while holding w or s.

As for the sounds, might there be a way to keep the engine sound on when you hop out? Also, I've made a sound for starting your engine. This would just be used for all vehicles. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52871438/sounds/soundremix/car_start1.wav

Suggestions / HD Models
« on: November 06, 2013, 03:56:42 PM »
Ok so we all know the big sexy model update came out with most of the tdm cars and those weird hd playermodels. They where pretty good looking at first but after awhile I feel they just didnt fit in and where more of a risk then an asset as the filesize for everything is over a gig.

So my idea was to remove them all and go back to what we had before. Sickness cars and normal hl2 playermodels as well as a couple tdm cars for people with loads of cash for supercars. Does anyone agree or should we leave models the way they are?

Mapping / RP_Rockford Progress
« on: July 26, 2013, 02:49:03 AM »
If you wish to follow my progress on Rockford, this thread will be mostly up to date. For my latest thoughts, follow me at www.twitter.com/statua

Rockford is the map currently being designed for use with OCRP, however it will also be publicly released in hopes to become the new fad of Evocity. Its based on the coast of Oregon hence the cliffs, mountains, and oceanside beach. The map is also going to be a fully functional and accurate city including proper blocks with three digit addresses, realistic traffic lights with a 1 second all red, proper signage, and of course everything a city needs to run. Without further adoo, here's the progress information.

Mapping / gmr_deathrace2013
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:16:55 AM »
I liked this map so much I decided to make a thread.

This map is based off the island track in Death Race (2008) where it's all industrial n shit. There's buttons for traps, forward attack machines, and rear defense machines. There are shortcuts in the map, however taking them is risky. Example, there's a train that crosses two roads and if you want to risk it, you can take the tracks to cut across, as long as you're willing to take that risk.

Here's some eyecandy.

Well it's a relatively new thing but it seems to be slowly and steadily growing. The Grand Theft Auto IV Multiplayer program allows users to connect to an actual dedicated GTA:IV server and play. Its more stable then the silly live multiplayer. Ill post more when I get home lol. Thoughts?

Mapping / How to fix ur hammer
« on: June 15, 2013, 01:37:14 PM »
We all know that with the new steampipe update, our beloved hammer from SourceSDK is giving us grief.

Well this guy managed to find a fix for it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrHfeBkr_DU

For anyone too lazy to watch the video, here's what you gotta do:

Step 1: Navigate to steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin

Step 2: Locate the hammer.exe in the bin folder. Make a shortcut or whatever you want with it unless you live navigating to the steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin whenever you want to start hammer.

Step 3: Navigate to your favourite game folder (CSS, EP2, Portal, whatever) and copy the folder that contains all the data (see table below for the folders)

Step 4: Paste the folder into steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2

Step 5: Run hammer, set up your options manually, and make awesome maps.

Hope this helped.
