Social Discussion / Our increasing mistake.
« on: June 08, 2012, 10:41:40 AM »
There is 1 big thing that's making my mind itch...
This one time, during college, we cannot use the word "Foreman" anymore, due to it being seen as "sexist", they change things such as foreman to "Foreperson". My tutor (Who happens to be female) got told by the observers that she can't use foreman anymore, and it's been bugging me ever since.

I then became curious to why "man" was used at the end of each sentence? (Policeman, Foreman, Businessman, etc)
The answer did turn out to be simple; Our increasing errors we are making in our language.

I thought I'd share this and have your thoughts...
To start off, language evolves, we know that. Our language has evolved from other languages we are exposed to, we translate every language constantly and we add new words to our dictionary, we are bound to make major mistakes when translating in the long run.

If we actually listen to how we say man and -man you'll pronounce it differently.

When we speak of a male, we strongly pronounce the 'a' more.
But when we speak of someone such as a foreman, notice how you say "man" but don't actually pronounce the a as strongly as we do for man.

I noticed that the word "man" we use for the end of words, such as human, woman, etc is actually a suffix called "-man"
So, essentially, the word -man translates into person, however suffixes appeared to exist in more modern languages, so evolving old languages to new ones eventually caused errors which we witness today.

My theory was that some letters might have been dropped out to be replaced with suffixes
The alphabet we dropped out is the letter '?'

When we speak of -man, it should be m?n if we are going to directly pronounce it.

I believe the introduction of suffixes were made to specify what we are saying towards people, rather than making a library of alphabetical words, we use suffixes as a convenient replacement.

You can notice how the word "Woman", "Human" also used the -man pronounciation? If we were to be politically correct as the world demands us, wouldn't you might as well call a Woman a "Woperson"? Or a Human a "Huperson"?

This does intrigue me a lot to find out more, but alas, my tracks of learning anything more is somewhat dead in it's tracks, seeing as language dates back so far, but it still interests me none the less.

Seeing as the English language is so diverse and with our rapid means of communication, we are rapidly losing the ability to understand our potential errors in the language.
Being politically correct about how we speak does nothing but derail us, they should be concerned how our language has evolved and how it's evolving then finding ways to fix it or make it convenient.

But I will leave a very important question;
Should we fix our ever increasing breaking language? (The English language)

Social Discussion / Are you truly safe and free from fear?
« on: March 29, 2012, 04:28:08 PM »
It has come to my attention, that the American citizens could very well be living in fear.

Based on the video recordings, namely this; (Text is below the video as well on my views.)

(Are you fucking joking?)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed8O7b0TmF4

(Know that the videos are from someone who claims to be anonymous, however the footage contained in the video is real)

I feel that the world only seems to control us through the use of fear.
They make you feel that you're safe guarded by a fine, powerful, and professional military service, with the police to serve and protect the innocent citizens of the U.S of A, and show you who the villains are, and who are the noble using the mainstream media

But do you wonder, is your country making you feel truly safe?
Giving you liberty and rights to allow you to show what you believe in?
Do you feel that the government and the law enforcement are doing a good job in safeguarding you from the evil?
Do you believe that trading liberty for "Security" (Yeah, right) is the right choice for us as humans?

Share your thoughts, but more importantly, question the authority.

Edit:
Added another video, even though it's George Bush, his words have given us the wrong mentality on how we should see the world, his words are detrimental to the people.
Another added, Iran is a state of threat (Yes old but still), building military bases near and around Iran and then claiming all the atrocities that they have done. Even though the U.S. are just as guilty in what they are (still) doing.

I sometimes wonder, is there really democracy in today's world?

Before you answer saying "Of course! We can vote who can be the leader of the country!"

I mean real democracy. Not being given a few random individuals who make false promises before the election, which they turn out to be lying scum bags with their own hidden agenda - as always.

It came to my mind when I was looking back on who I voted for, and hoped he'll deliver the pledge of promise he made.
Did he fulfil them? No, oh well, if I was to really stretch it, maybe a few unnoticeable promises, that don't benefit us as the people.

I then made another question; Where is the democracy we have today?
Did I ever have my say in what direction the government should take? No.
Did I have a chance to vote whether we should and should not be in wars? No.
Did the country ask us whether it was right to go to bomb countries such as Libya? No.

Alright, it may be unreasonable for me to question on such issues, but then, what is the prime motivator for them doing the opposite of what we want?

Let's look at the Libyan war (Or much rather, rebellion) for instance. If the leader of the country went to war without asking us if it's the right thing to do, then what made them attack in the first place?

To spread democracy to the Libyan rebels? Maybe, but that seems more like a way to make ourselves look like we have noble intentions, after the rebellion we see the rebels brutally killing Gaddafi, yeah, I don't buy the fact that the rebellion did anything good for Libya but if we were doing it for good intentions, wouldn't they let us have our say?

Profit for the government and the companies backing it? Sounds realistic. Nearly, if not, all the countries we invaded has some form of valuable resource that foreign companies want to loot and profit from, whilst we're (still) facing constant tax rises due to the supposed oil scarcity.

Countries will claim that Libya was ruled by a tyrant and the protestors had no form of democracy, just by showing us a few clips of the cops (and eventually, the army) using unnecessary force against us

But when I look at the protests that we have in the "Democratic countries" I see police brutality, areas becoming a police state, you will see protesters being arrested for simply being at the protests. That really makes me question about our "Democratic world".

So I might also get a response "But people do have democracy! We can do demonstrations and protests if we don't like what the government are doing!", sure, but anything that they can profit from, they will not listen to you, not even if 75% of the country demonstrated of the wrong doings.

Don't believe me? Look at during the invasion of Iraq, worldwide people have protested against the Iraq war. Did they listen? Nope. They never even attempted to reconsider.
Alright, so there may not be police brutality, but even then, even if there was no force being used against the demonstrators, it would still be clear that democracy nearly absent for the people.

I find out further that, to be elected as a leader of the country, you have to have a lot of funding from a company to get a chance in succeeding, hell you can even become a brand, simply because you've been "funded" to become a leader of the country.

So I ask you the question; Is there really democracy? Did you take part in any programs or anything that we considered beneficial to us, as people? Everything that the government does, seems to always be beneficial for the select few and not for the majority of the people.

Social Discussion / The outdated system we still use today; Money.
« on: February 29, 2012, 10:34:06 AM »
Today, we're living a system that is no longer functioning, debt is at its highest, the rift of poor and rich is getting bigger, poverty still occurs, technology is advancing slowly and unneeded wars.
What is causing this? Money, of course. Every root problem is monetary related.
Sounds crazy of course, but it's true, no matter how much you deny it, it is always money that gives a negative impact to the world today.

Money is a vast topic, which makes it hard to understand why money is the degenerate for humans today.
First and foremost, poverty.
As Gandhi said "Poverty is the worst form of violence." and it is true. Poverty causes hunger, depression, diseases, and more, because people simply cannot afford anything. If someone wants clean water, you have to pay to get clean water. If you want food, you have to buy it. If you want medical treatment, you have to buy it. It goes on for everything you need to do.
Poverty will increase the common issue we have; Crime.

People in poverty will resort to crime, a lot of the crimes we see today is monetary related. Mugging, burglary, drug trafficking, shoplifting, anything that people can do, to earn a living. So they can feed themselves and live the highest standards they can possibly get, as it is human survival to get what they need to survive, and society reinforces that people with more money, have higher standards of living.

You can consider war as a crime as well. For that it requires soldiers, who are trained to be killing machines, in order to forcefully capture the resources and the power that the government needs, history will tell you that most of the wars are about resources and power, they're never about liberating people or saving a particular group of people, they make it seem that way so people would believe that we're fighting for a noble cause.

Money only functions, providing that there is resources or anything valuable that is backed by the country. If the United States printed money, but they had no oil, gold, or anything worth of value. The US dollar would be worth nothing.
For the country to have a good economy, you need people circulating the money, how do you do that? Simple, get people to consume, this creates GDP, so you need more people to spend as much money as they can, in order to keep the cycle of money going.
So, how do you get people to spend more? You need 3 things:

"Mass producing" - In order for it to keep it cheap enough for you to afford it you need to create a vast amount of goods regardless of the quality of the material that is being used in order for it to be cheap.
"Planned obsolescence" - Goods that become useless after a certain period of time or gets no longer supported by the manufacturers. This is a strategic way for businesses to make money, for that it creates repeated customers, which creates consumption, these goods are never made at their highest quality, unless you want to be charged ridiculous sums of cash. They also make newer versions of said products to make the older one seem inferior, encouraging people to purchase more.
"Problems" - Anything, for example; if you have a car that has mechanical problems, you have to pay for replacement parts. This includes other problems, social problems that is. For instance, crime, it's important for the economy, for that crimes create more jobs for the police, prison officers, and spend more money to build new prison sites.

Obviously the good old media becomes so happy when they find there is economic growth because the GDP raised by 1% for that month.

Growth always occurs, this happens especially when a country is being given money from the banks. Banks do this specific kind of loan that is given to the government, when the government receives that money (Which is obviously, going to be a very large sum of cash), the banks will create money out of thin air, when that money is produced, they have to add the percentage of debt on top of it.
If a bank produces $1 billion, they might have to add the debt on top, if that debt percentage is 10%, the country would be $10 billion in debt.

How would this affect us? Well, simple, depending on the resources the country owns, will make your money worth less than it would have originally been.
If an island had a bank and it owned 1 gold bar worth $2000 to the US, the island can produce £2,000 of their own currency before it becomes worth less.
Conversion rates would, theoretically be;
£1000 printed, 1 gold bar - £1 = $1.25
£2000 printed, 1 gold bar - £1 = $1
£4000 printed, 1 gold bar - £1 = $0.50

Which means, if the country's central bank, at any time, was ordered to print more money, your will suffer the consequences, whether you like it or not.

Money being printed increases at such immense rates when war occurs, for that the government requires borrowing the money to pay the soldiers, defence contractors, oil, and more.
Petroleum companies normally back the government financially to go to war with country that have a lot of oil.

At the end of the day, you, and everyone around you, suffers the consequences, these things only pleases the select few, not for the people.

Remember, money only functions on growth and circulation, nothing more and nothing less.

At the end of the day, you're constantly facing debt, and you're forced to pay that debt as well, through tax, regardless of the hardship you may face in society, you're forced to pay that tax, if you don't, they'll rob your possessions or throw you in jail. Simple as that.

Remember, money serves as an invisible barrier for everyone.
If you want high standards of living - Money is needed.
If you want to be fed - Money is needed.
If you need clean water - Money is needed.
If you are ill or need medical treatment - Money is needed.
Education, hygiene, fitness, entertainment, enjoyment, pretty much everything essential, requires money.

I advocate a resource based economy, creating an abundant of resources, nutritious food, clean water, highest technological advancement and highest medical care. We have plenty of these, we can do this for the entire world, but we're being stopped because the imaginary system that we call "Money" exists. Paper with numbers on it, nothing more.

(Inb4 TL;DR)
