Title: Garrysmod Downtime
Post by: Adam S on June 24, 2011, 08:31:28 AM
All servers will be unplayable until a garrysmod update is released.

Last night’s Source engine update has broken Garry’s Mod. I say this every time – but don’t be mad at Valve about this. This is just the price we’re paying for being on the latest and greatest version of the Source engine. The alternative is to be stuck on an older version of the engine – which I don’t think anyone wants.

I’m looking into making an update and hope to have it out as soon as possible. This has hit a bit of a roadblock though because I can’t get my hands no the up to date interfaces from Valve at the moment. I will edit updates into this post as and when I have them. Maybe play TF2 for a few hours to fill the time?

Update 10:25AM:

Turns out that I’m missing VFileSystem019. Latest I have is VFileSystem017. Waiting on a reply from Valve.

I blame valve.

Who never tells about a update ahead of time.

I blame valve.

Who never tells about a update ahead of time.

Or checks that it even works before releasing it.... this isn't the first time that I've not been able to play GMod due to a compulsory update :(

I rather settle with the simple

Sorry guys it's going to be even longer than expected. I've got to wait for the new source - Valve say it could take up to 8 hours.

This is depressing
But lets face it, it was bound to happen sometime
It's a valve game (sort of) for crying out loud, this isnt the first time a valve game has done this
I remember a while ago the same thing happened to TF2 for about a week

Whelp, see you guys on gmod at 4:00pm GMT!

Guys, guys. It's not Valve's fault. It's only Gabe Newells fault. DAMN YOU GAYBEN!

Your all whinging fucks. It's better to not play garrysmod for a day or two than never have it updated to be as good as it can be, or not have gmod at all.

The point is that the two days of downtime can easily be avoided if they just simply launched the game, which takes an second.

I don't think it would be that easy, but in theory yeah.
