Introductions / Oh haider im back :D
« on: April 19, 2013, 06:09:15 PM »
Well long story but.... Yeah... I am back, well actually i never left because im not much for leaving but ANYWAYS.. The below is slightly more important.

Well hello there, Over the last 9 or 10 months or being away from cg, i have been to hell and back with certain other things i was occupying my time with (other garrysmod communities), and yes literally hell... I have been thinking of CG a lot, and ive been conversing with apex, which is where my new name comes from (well actually its old but you havent seen it), and ive been conversing with wakeboarder who mighthave removed me. Well anyways I am quite happy for the release of ocrp 2, other than the fact that i lost some irl money in the mix, but i should be able to get over that.

I am not sure i'm welcome here and i need some more steam friends so respond D:?

Also you might be like "ERM UH le its dead silent urgh that beach towel" (or something of the likes), but owning 6 communities in the past 10 months has really changed me to be less of an idiot. ("ORLY?" some of you may say.)... Well either way i am open to anyone adding me on steam if you remember me or if you just want to talk to me or know about the shit that's happened the past 10 months with me (its actually quite interesting)...:/ Well im not sure how deep im going to plunge into cg this time around but i want you guys (if you remember me as an annoying oldfag (kinda i joined like june 2k11) to let go of that and try our friendship again :D?

Well anyways one of the reasons this is so long is because sometimes i have no life and i just want to write really long things.

On a side note:

Questions are: ACCEPTED :D

General Discussion / I'm officially afraid to be on the internet.
« on: September 21, 2012, 11:13:28 PM »
In case none of you have ever heard of the plugin named "collusion" that tracks and displays the invisible websites tracking your personal data and so in in the form of cookies.

I just wanted to show you all this, so i did a quick example with cg.net...

So i went into chrome, and typed in www.catalyst-gaming.net and did nothing else, and i was already being tracked by 26 invisible sites, as shown in the picture below:
Click to see the original size.

Next, I went to the thread about rofl being in a car accident and I looked at the pictures, then looked at the trackers again:
Click to see the original size.

Thats 39 sites that are tracking my shit and ive only done 2 THINGS...

Ok so yeah... you all probably already know you are getting tracked and stuff but i just wanted to demonstrate :/

Suggestions / Arma 2/ DayZ section in other games section?
« on: July 23, 2012, 11:59:45 PM »
So I tried to talk to Rofl on steam about this yes, but i'm not sure if you actually listened to the whole thing, so i'll put it here:

Ok so now that Arma 2:CO and DayZ are getting to be the most bought game on steam, I have been helping a lot of people with tips on how to get started and other various questions they might have about DayZ... So, I thought, since about 3/4 of CG plays DayZ or some sort of Arma, that we should have a section where people could ask questions and team up with each other. I know yeah yeah, there's the DayZ forums, but have you seen how quickly those get douched up? That's what i thought >.>

So say what you think and personally i think this is a good idea.

Support & Help / HELP! tell me if you have the same problem!
« on: February 21, 2012, 02:44:22 PM »
Ok so yesterday night at about 6 pm or so eastern time i was in ocrp then all of a sudden my internet crashed and everyone on my network disconnected. Then i thought it was ok because this happenes every once in a while. Then i had to unplug my router and plug it right back in and then my internet worked. Then i tried to join ocrp, got to around sending client info and my internet got wiped clean offline. Then i restarted my comp and restarted my router again and then joined ocrp again and the same thing kept happening. I havent tried it yet today but yesterday i joined another server and it worked fine. And i know its not my internet because other computers can use the internet and i can play xbox on it fine. Im not sure if anyone else has this problem and im wondering if it was just a problem with the box that was kicking my whole internet offline. I will update this later when i try and join today but please tell me if you know what went on. And i know its not my gmod or anything because i have been playing ocrp just fine until yesterday.

Thanks

General Discussion / Article On Sopa and its "unconstatutional-ness"
« on: January 17, 2012, 07:01:21 PM »
Harvard Law School professor Laurence Tribe is one of the top constitutional experts in the country, and wrote one of the main treatises on the subject. Tribe wrote a letter to Congress last week stating that SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act) is unconstitutional.

As the Hill notes:

Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law expert at Harvard Law School, argues [SOPA] violates the First Amendment in a memo sent to members of Congress on Thursday.

The bill would empower the Justice Department and copyright holders to demand that search engines, Internet providers and payment processors cut ties with websites “dedicated” to copyright infringement.

Tribe argues the bill amounts to illegal “prior restraint” because it would suppress speech without a judicial hearing.

Additionally, the law’s definition of a rogue website is unconstitutionally vague, Tribe writes.

“Conceivably, an entire website containing tens of thousands of pages could be targeted if only a single page were accused of infringement,” Tribe writes. “Such an approach would create severe practical problems for sites with substantial user-generated content, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, and for blogs that allow users to post videos, photos, and other materials.”

Google CEO Eric Schmidt said that the bill would criminalize the Internet:

An online piracy bill in the House would “criminalize linking and the fundamental structure of the Internet itself,” according to Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt.

Schmidt said the controversial [bill] would punish Web firms, including search engines, that link to foreign websites dedicated to online piracy. He said implementing the bill as written would effectively break the Internet.

“By criminalizing links, what these bills do is they force you to take content off the Internet,” Schmidt said, calling it a form of censorship.

***

He compared the proposal to the Web censorship practiced by repressive foreign governments like China and doubled down on that comparison when speaking with reporters after his remarks at the Economic Club of Washington.

Indeed, China is exactly what the bill is modeled on:

If you’re wondering why lawyers and Hollywood folks would get behind legislation to censor the Internet, you only need to listen to former Senator Chris Dodd [the same guy who killed any chance of financial reform - see this, this, this and this], now the head of the MPAA, who last week explained to Variety that the lobby is only asking for the same kind of power to censor the Internet as the government has in the People’s Republic of China:

“When the Chinese told Google that they had to block sites or they couldn’t do [business] in their country, they managed to figure out how to block sites.”

***

Even in China they are calling it the “Great Firewall of America.” At least the Chinese are enjoying the irony of the U.S. government moving toward a legal regime that would give it carte blanche to seize and take down websites on the basis of “infringement.” Tech Dirt, the site that reported on the above domain seizure, quotes one Chinese blogger on Sina Weibo subversively commenting on the progress of SOPA and PIPA [the Protect IP Act, which is the Senate version of SOPA] in Congress:

It looks like that we can finally export our technology and value to the Americans. We’re strong, advanced, and absolutely right!

Postscript: Given that Joe Lieberman said that America needs an internet kill switch like China, that the U.S. economy has turned socialist (at least for friends of those with control of the money spigot), and that the U.S. government used communist Chinese torture techniques specifically designed to produce false confessions in order to sell the Iraq war, I guess that the bill’s Chinese-style censorship is not entirely surprising.

Article From A Post On:www.infowars.com

ANOTHER ARTICLE:

Tomorrow, Google’s US homepage will include a link declaring its opposition to the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect IP Act. The news was reported on CNET and confirmed by Google in a statement emailed to TechCrunch:

Like many businesses, entrepreneurs and web users, we oppose these bills because there are smart, targeted ways to shut down foreign rogue websites without asking American companies to censor the Internet. So tomorrow we will be joining many other tech companies to highlight this issue on our US home page.

SOPA and PIPA have been criticized as potentially inflicting enormous harm on existing Web companies and services in the name of fighting piracy, and Google has already been pretty vocal in its opposition to the bills. But a homepage link could highlight the issue for a much broader audience, particularly those who aren’t following tech or policy news.

Google says the link won’t replace the logo on its front page. This won’t be quite as dramatic as the complete blackouts planned tomorrow by Wikipedia,Reddit, and others. For Google, though, including a front-page link is a pretty big step.

There’s been some public hand-wringing about how far tech companies should go to take a stand against SOPA and PIPA —CloudFlare offers one solution, allowing sites to black out specific content in protest, without entirely “going dark.” When asked if Twitter would follow Wikipedia’s lead, CEO Dick Costolo tweeted that it would be “silly” close a “global business in reaction to single-issue national politics”, later adding that Twitter might show its opposition in other ways: “Watch this space.” a

Suggestions / mobile website?
« on: December 22, 2011, 11:55:18 PM »
Ok first off i want to apologize for myself being so annoying these past days as iuwm just trying to get involved in the forums more:) and second i want to aplogize for my bad spelling; im on my mobile phone and it lags really bad so i can hardly type anything :( that leads into our third order of buisiness which is my request for a catalyst mobile site and this doesnt need to be done right away , i mean it can be a side projec or so. So anyway i would like a mobile site because my parents are divorced (why woild you care) so i have a week on my computer and a week on my phone and i use shoutbox a lot and it takes about 5 mins to load and so does everything else:( so i belove that a mobile site will solve this because it will first of all ne efficiant and second of all male it possible to use the catalyst website on the go :) (there are soe sirltes that make a mobile sote and links it off the site or whatever) i hope you end up taking this into consideration to make me and other users eperiences better.

Best of hope
