Title: Any military or vet's?
Post by: putin on February 13, 2013, 11:20:46 PM
Ya so I'm leaving very soon to go to basic training for the air force, doing a six year contract as a cyber transport specialist (fancy for networking). Anyone else in the service? How easy is it to continue my PC gaming life?

I know that Nick (not Nicknero) used to be a USAF pilot or at least one of the essential crew for an Osprey and played here every six months between deployment. I saw a couple of photos from his deployment to Afghanistan when I first met him which was pretty cool of him to show.

Are you being serious here? Nick was lying the whole time about being a Marine.

Lots of us suspected it because his stories didn't quite add up from time to time, but later he got involved in some ArmA milsim units, as in the ones with actual legit veterans. I'm guessing they found him out and tore him a new asshole, because when I talked to him a while back he admitted his actions freely.

Renegade awe--  ;)

Nah, I don't really know of anyone in the military who is at CG, the job doesn't really appeal to me as it would involve getting shot at or living in the ass end of some desert at least.

I'm leaving for the navy next year. Going for hospital corpsman. Still thinking of becoming a seal corpsman, but idk yet. Got a friend in AF security forces and on going for combat control next month.

After Senior year next year I'm going to either go to the Navy or Air force. I would like to try BUD/S training to become a SEAL, but I'd die. Either way I want to join some branch of the military to serve my country.

I'm doing something similar. I'm enlisting in April, gonna do my damndest to get hospital corpsman and go greenside. I've heard you can get 8404 specifically guaranteed in your contract, but I'll have to do more research on it or maybe just ask my recruiter next time I see him.

Why, is that what you're going for?

The job doesn't require getting shot at. Only around 5000 marines/other militart  have died during the middle eastern war, that's a very small number. Your chances of death is much higher than a marine because you simply drive/ride a car.

Not to shit on your dreams Jonco, but if you want to become a SEAL you better quit CG and start getting active now. Any SO jobs require a very high willpower and physical strength, most people don't fail because of physical strength they fail because they don't have the willpower which is something that can only be trained by challenging yourself everyday and staying consistent.
