Suggestions / Re: Meth, even once.

Meth production requires knowledge in chemistry, not herbals (herbalism isn't a word, by the way). Therefore, a different skill book would make sense.

Support & Help / Re: Computer question.
« on: April 29, 2013, 12:57:07 AM »
Can i run OCRP2 with this computer? and what game is probably the max i can run with it, also got a Geforce 8600 GT g-card.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Refurbished-Black-6005-Pro-Desktop-PC-with-AMD-Athlon-II-X2-Processor-4GB-Memory-1TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-7-Professional-Monitor-Not-Included/23325250

In short you will not be able to run ocrp2 with that computer. To give you an idea your graphics card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229 only has 256 MB of memory.

While mine is a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127696 which has 2GB 192-bit GDDR5, I only get 10 to 15 frames in the city which is the most populated section of OCRP2 when it is a full server with maxed settings.

If you have yet to buy this computer I highly suggest not getting it since it's extremely outdated and not worth your time. If your budget can take it you should really build your own computer or at least get in touch with someone with the know how of being able to assemble/ tell you what to buy.

Too me it seems fine, Garrys mod is not that high demanding, It when you get into big shooter games and are running multiple video games at once is where you need to get a solid computer. Only thing that could concern me is the processor, do you know how many Ghz it has?

AMD Athlon II X2 processor. 3.0GHz
While I wouldn't suggest getting that computer, you could definitely run Gmod and OCRP2. You wouldn't be able to run it on the highest settings because the city lags like a bitch, but I can run Gmod maxed out and get 20~ish frames with an Intel integrated card, which is among the worst of video cards out there.

Fixed Bugs / Re: BOUGHT A NEW COLOR AND NOW MY CAR IS INVISIBLE
« on: April 24, 2013, 07:30:56 PM »
Same problem was with most colors for the corvette. And instead of fixing the problem, craphead removed the colors leaving only 3 working... That is dumb and this should be fixed for all cars pls.

<::[[ Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using Tapatalk 2 ]]::>

Please don't assume I'm dumb and just remove the models. You remember that player models broke because they were badly hexed and ported? Yeah. Same issue here. Afaik I am not a modeler, and they are removed for a reason. There are literally a new model for 3 colors, then a new model for the next 3. There's a reason I remove them, and not because I'm "dumb".
He didn't call you dumb. He called the decision you made dumb, and I agree. There most likely is a way to fix this issue.

Seriously, if you want to get mad over it and be flustered how hl2rp isn't like the "good old days" move on. Why don't we have both- shit, this whole thing might not even happen. Do you just assume Khub will want to develop this for us?
If you cared to read my post, you'll realize that I'm saying we should keep both. All I'm saying is that I don't support it, but I won't disapprove of it either. I simply think there will be unforeseen consequences by keeping both. And no one suggested that Khub would necessarily develop.

You can keep your precious HL2RP, but if this truly goes through, the gamemode will probably be swept under the rug. The administration team has had months to improve the quality of HL2RP and to inspire a new playerbase, as well as attract it. I see absolutely no progress. We're wasting far too much effort in an area that isn't improving in the slightest, when we could be putting that effort towards new projects, and projects that are unique to Catalyst Gaming. Truthfully, I think that those of you who are clinging to HL2RP are thinking far too much of yourselves and your liking of HL2RP and far too little of the betterment of this community. I don't mean to be rude, but I always am, so. Regardless of my crassness, I think I'm right in what I'm saying.

That being said, this thread is not a forum for an argument over whether or not we should support removing HL2RP. So, I suggest we return to the topic at hand, and get the ball rolling. With any gamemode, the first considerations are what you're going to need for developers. Once you have that established, and you've found those developers, you can move onto canon. We have plenty of talented writers here at CG, so as long as you put them under some kind of direction and assign someone to oversee the entirety of the canon, we will be set. This is doable, so long as everyone puts their best foot forward and works diligently for the purpose of strengthening our declining community. And by declining community, I am not saying we are in bad shape. We are, however, in significantly worse shape than we once were, and I'd like to see that improve.

I don't want to sacrifice HL2RP for this. It really doesn't seem like a good idea to throw it all away for.
HL2RP is an outdated, poorly designed, inherently flawed piece of crap, with nearly zero players outside of a scant dedicated player base. If you really stay here for HL2RP, I don't see why. There are a lot of other communities running much more successful HL2RP servers. I'm not saying that we should dump the gamemode, but it's worth our effort to put our focus on unique gamemodes, not trying to do something that others already do (currently) much more successfully than we do.

As for this project, I think it sounds like a great idea, but also a grand endeavor. I am willing to dedicate myself to this project entirely in whatever manner you may want me to.

I agree that this seems rushed and honestly too short for an application for a weapon. It feels as though you just pulled a pathetic story out of your ass to get a gun. It needs to be more original, and it needs to be just .. more detailed, I guess, like Pi said.

I can understand where your criticism is coming from, but at the same time you're voicing your opinion rather agressively. I'd appreciate it if you made constructive criticism, not destructive criticism.

That said, i have a better idea as to how to auth for these items, i will most likely edit this later tonight after i've written the new story.

Scratch that, will probably have to do this tomorrow, i had to use my worktime for university related stuff and all the stuff i can write at the moment is gibberish
I will provide my opinion in whatever manner I damn well please. My "aggressive" tone doesn't make my constructive criticism destructive at all. It has the same content either way. I don't criticize the tone you write in either.

I look forward to reading your new story.

In my personal opinion, this feels like a rushed app in hopes for a quick weapon. The story just seems too easy...some guy contacting him for heroin who just now happens to want to give up everything he has.
It just feels like it lacks detail and originality.

News and Announcements / Re: Orange Cosmos RP 2 Announcement
« on: April 03, 2013, 05:42:34 PM »
I hope everyone's talking about semi-serious, OCRP as a full serious game mode would just kill the fun. You have to have at least some freedom to do the same old stuff we all remember from back in the days.

like when it was orange cosmos, the 'serious' server and the lite.
Yeah I think there would be 4 levels of RP in this case. Lite, what HRP is. Semi-serious, what OCRP was on good days. Serious, what OCRP was back in OC's serious days. And in-depth serious, what HL2RP is.

I'd like to see a serious server at some point but I think semi-serious will be our best bet on launch. I made a nice little guide on semi-serious rp for you guys which goes over pretty much everything.
HRP isn't light, it's semi-serious. Though it won't look like it if admins don't do their jobs.
If you seriously believe that HRP is semi-serious, then perhaps you need to reevaluate what you consider "serious" and not. HRP is really lite; that's how most people play it. Honestly, you cannot force a level of seriousness onto a gamemode via rules and administration. It all depends on how the gamemode's been made. People will play it how they feel.

Support & Help / Re: Windows 8
« on: March 21, 2013, 05:34:37 PM »
backup any important shit you need like documents etc then when you put windows 7 CD into your PC and it boots up into the windows 7 setup, click custom (advanced) and delete all your partitions, then install it in a fresh new one
^ Follow this, Nicknero is a dumbfuck, don't listen to him.

Backup anything you want to keep onto a USB memory stick or a (preferably RW) CD/DVD, and insert your Windows 7 CD and boot from Windows 7 by either a) entering your "Boot from..." menu upon startup (varies from system to system) or b) changing your default boot drive from the BIOS for the time being (which you should only do if the "Boot from..." menu or whatever it may be called on your system doesn't work). Windows installation discs have product keys that usually work twice. So if you've only used the product key once, it should still work. If it doesn't, you can TOTALLY GO LEGITIMATELY BUY (wink wink nudge nudge) Windows and burn it onto a disc and boot from that.

I'm not entirely sure why you would have any issue with Windows 8, as functionally most of your operations will occur in the desktop which, with the exception of a start button (which you can get with modifications, I might add), is identical to the Windows 7 desktop. The Metro UI is only there for Metro apps and startup, so unless you're using Metro apps, you won't even have to worry about it. Windows 8 has better built-in security, and it generally runs smoother since its a newer build. That being said, it's your choice what OS you use. I use Windows 8, but I personally don't support it because of the potential damage it may bring to the gaming industry in the future because the Windows Store system.

Hope that helps,
Ricky

About a month ago, we did this. It was okay, and most of the action was from Logistics and was more revolved around the CCA than citizens which is what we need more of. I'm sure if it was planned it would fan out better but even then it doesn't make sense. There's one track and it it passes by, never stopping or having to move. I just don't see the point personally.
I'm sorry...did you just say that we need more events that revolve around the CCA more than citizens? That goes against the entire philosophy for HL2RP that has been established.
