Title: Ban Strike System
Post by: Ludus on April 28, 2011, 05:28:45 PM
Well I think we should add a ban strike system kinda like Orange Cosmos and Pulsar Effect did.

I hope this will be added when the bans become global(i.e. If you're banned, you are banned from all servers.). It would help keep those who can't follow the rules properly away.

We do need this tbh but link bans to ban on all servers

Please please PLEASE add this. It's hard to keep track on who's been banned a lot and what's not. A player can end up getting 10 chances because we don't know how many time someone's been banned. Maybe Darth would be so kind and give us the one OC had?

I don't believe you need the plugin. I think all you need is the database to be shared by the servers and website, and when someone gets banned, it adds a point to the user's ban strikes. If the amount of strikes == x, then perma.

It is needed and the bans do need linking for all servers

Offtopic: why are there separate ban lists?

Source bans is a collection of bans from the server and anyone linked with that plugin. It also doesn't have what you are speaking of.

Right now our bans aren't global, once we link all the servers the ban list will become one.

Since this was never properly answered, according to RoflWaffle, it doesn't appear that he wants to have a global bans list.

The reason for his thinking is this: If you get banned from OCRP, for example, for "Fail RP" and it was something simple and not too big, you shouldn't also be banned on GMR, for example, for Failing on roleplay. If we have a new player, a first-timer, and he accidentally metagames a few different times and doesn't know the proper rules and gets banned, why should he be banned from all of the servers? If that happened to me, I'd probably give up on the community and find another without interest in any of their other servers.

I agree with both parts.. a banpoint system would be nice, so that repeating rulebreakers get perma'd automatically, but having a global ban list is just not good either

Yeah, it would be stupid to be banned from all servers. Back in Pulsar Effect when I first started RP'ing, I got banned for metagaming, but from ALL servers. I was mad, and couldn't do anything buy wait.
