Title: S2M/S2K Rules
Post by: Scratchie on July 08, 2011, 02:21:11 AM
S2M (Shoot to Miss):
- Long distances
- Citizens (mostly)
- 03 and below

S2H (Shoot to Hit):
- All units at Mid Distances (within reason)
- 02 - OfC at far distances
- Citizens (VERY RARELY)
- Authed users that are authed to have marksmanship experience

S2K (Shoot to Kill):
- OTA
- Close range (WITH RP REASONS)
- 02+ at mid range
- DvL+ at far range (Within reason.  They wouldnt be able to S2K from the UCH to D2, but you know what I mean)

Ranges are described as:
Close: Up to distance from Nexus Side Airlock door to Side airlock door (about distance from center area in plaza to cwu wall.)
Mid: Up to length of catwalk bridge from D2 to wall
Far: Everything else

Can OTA do all?

Can OTA do all?

OTA can do all except S2K at long distances. At long distances OTA units can get a good shot, but nothing like a kill shot. So, S2H partly.

10% warning for giant necropost.

Might I ask how this is a necropost?

Abbott i dont think you can necro on a sticky.

Relating to this topic, these rules need to be modified, theyre still only semi-serious. They provide no chance at rp with overwatch and criminals mugging at point blank range. Like. Seriously modified. More like rewrotten. Heres what i think they should be.

-Always S2M when firing upon someone before contacting them.
-S2M when at close range to RP hitting the person, giving them a chance to RP the hit
-S2H/S2K only after discussing the situation with the other player and they give you the OK
-Contact an admin in the case of any disagreements

Thats how i do it on outlands and im sticking to it. Well unless the other person isnt fear rping and refuses to take the chance to run from a sniper rifles fire at long range.

One problem I run into a lot is when I and another player are combat RPing in detail, using /mes and /its, and other combatants are taking advantage of our typing time by running around in real time to get into advantageous positions. It's kind of like we're playing in separate modes of RP. One group is in /me mode, and the other group is in real time mode. It causes a lot of problems, and I think we need some rules to clarify what is allowed and what isn't.

Most higher ranking units have way better training than lower ranking units, so it makes sense. A recruit doesn't have nearly as much firearm training as a DvL (just as an example).

Can we get a response for this? I need to know as well. If I'm using /me and somebody is jumping around without any attempt at RP I'm going to S2K no matter who they are.

As far as I know, punching with fists (raised hands) is disabled on our HL2RP servers, both on city and the outlands one.
